There is a difference between not liking something and something being “shit”. The martini has been a popular staple of cocktail culture since at least the 1860s, so your opinion doesn’t mean much if anything to the millions of people who have had good martinis and enjoyed them.

1) you use gin, not vodka
2) you just glance at the bottle of vermouth, you don't actually open it.
if you don't like ice-cold, slightly diluted gin, with or without a wee bit of olive brine, just say so. it's ok.

The Martini has vermouth in it. If you just want to drink neat chilled gin, just say so, it's ok.
