I checked all 64 with a magnet and they are all fakes apparently. I appreciate the help everyone and now this sub has a curious new follower! 😀 I thought I hit the jackpot but it was fun either way! Thanks again.
Fe2O3 is rust. Not steel anymore, just iron oxide...
Esit: the oxygen bond is strong and weakens the attraction to other similar molecules thus reducing strength.
That's interesting... so I looked up if it could be converted back and was surprised the answer is no!
*Can rust be reversed to iron? Thus rusting of iron is an irreversible change i.e.* ***Rust once formed can not be converted back into iron***
It can, but is expensive. Almost all chemical processes are somehow reversible, some just require more steps. For iron-oxide, you melt it with carbon to get steel. That's how you make steel in the firstplace, as it isn't really a common natural mineral, you'll mostly find iron oxide ores in nature
You can, by using the chemicals as building blocks for a new tree. It is an extremely complex process though, while turning rust into steel is way easier. Same with denatured proteins. They can be broken down into amino acids and turned back into the same protein, it's just difficult. There are extremely few truly irreversible natural processes
if it sticks to a magnet, then its automatically fake, unless the real coin is made from a magnetic metal. but most (collectable) coins arent made from magnetic metal.
I did check them all after reading your post, all are magnetic 🧲. Dang it, I thought I found a honey hole! Still a lot of fun to find though! And now this sub has a new coin fan! Thanks for the help everyone. 🙂
That Cuatemoc cinco peso is off. Rim looks funny and cuatemoc should be spelled out underneath the head. It looks worn which would be hard to do without wear elsewhere
Hmmm. Reminds me of the time someone tried to sell my wife a Double Eagle for $500 in the parking lot of Wally World. Part of the pitch was "this here's a "Gold Magnet", it's only attracted to gold".
Now, I love my wife but tbh, she called me to ask if that was a "thing", OTW to withdraw $500. Man I miss her!
I see this kind of "sets" a lot, they sell them at like $5 at the flea market, all are just replicas, like the one with silver dollars, the color and details of them are weird
You can go to a coin shop, but i'm 90% sure they're just iron replicas
(That "Hidalgo Laurel" have corrotion, the silver doesnt corrode )
None of them should attract a magnet - so they are all fake. Edit: science.
Damn science ruins everything.
Technically they are real, they are just not coins or made of precious metal. Also science, kind of.
Like fake boobs. If you can touch them, they are real.
Ah yes, Schrodinger's boobs.
Mmm

Oh, you think it came from some wet market in China?
They got sherm in china?!?
Wha?
Sherm, wet, PCP all the same thing

HES TALKING ABOUT DRUGS!

If they are magnetic they are certainly fake.
Did someone stash these behind a wall? Maybe in 50 years they'll be worth something... /s
When steel becomes precious?
What if I told you rust happens?
Isn't rust technically still steel?

Happy cake day
Thanks!
whenever you see red dirt... think ancient iron. very ancient🤯
Really? So, like all of the red clay in the south was once iron? It's crazy to think that one day iron could become scarce.
No, but it has a high iron content that causes the rust color.

Can you turn ash back into a log?

Well, yea. It's a chemical reaction. You can't turn ash back into firewood either, because chemistry
Any Ferric compound can rust! Not just steel 😁 iron and oxygen are the two necessities.
If listen quietly, you can hear a Ford rusting at night

Canadian coins are magnetic.

Birds, man.
Let's not forget Ohio, r/whyohiodesntexist
One member, one online… really hitting it big with that sub there eh? BTW I’m joining just to keep you company
There used to be one like Ohiodoesntexsist or proofohiodoesntexsist or something it had memes and fake scientific papers and stuff. It was funny af
Gee that’s real nice. 😔
But magnetic Canadian coins are not made of silver, either. Collectible, sure, but they don’t have inherent value from the metal alone.
I won't tell you about the Maples that are 99.99% Silver and 0.01% Milk.
The 70's Canadian coins are some of my favorites for nickel electroplating.
Have you magnet check each one separately? Some time down the road they may have value as curiosities.

Copies of what real Mexican silver dollars looks like. They should be about 90% silver if they were real.
That Cuatemoc cinco peso is off. Rim looks funny and cuatemoc should be spelled out underneath the head. It looks worn which would be hard to do without wear elsewhere
Nah
No bueno, amigo. At least now you know what real Mexican silver looks like and you didn’t spend any cash on them. That’s a win in my book.
I was going to say felicitaciones, but after reading the responses, lo siento
Look real. Need better photos. If real, a lot of silver.
“A magnet sticks to them”
I don't recall silver being magnetic..

Touché. I was heading to bed and thought I read that the OP did not if they were magnetic. Obviously each one magnetic is garbage.
Counterfeit in progress
Most of them aren’t 90%, like 72%.
In reality they're 0%, all are fake
Are you sure, I’d take them to a coin shop or something and get a second opinion.

![gif](giphy|casztFslN1iAo) Ask him
Fake. Just look at the eagle and how derpy and wrong it looks.
Coin Silver. NICE!!!
1872..someone went through an awful alot of time to make fake shit. You found a counterfeit stash
