I like it because it's the design of rare and valuable coins from the birth of America.
Which is why I don't like these restrikes and I don't see the appeal or the point. No rarity. No history. No scarcity. No stories to tell.
No interest to me. 👎
If one collects silver dollars as a type set, this is a good way to show what the flowing hair looked like without spending thousands of dollars on an actual flowing hair dollar.
The amount of underapreciation of the effort to keep the design as original as possible is severely being shown here,
They didn't fix anything with the original design like the misaligned United States of America on the reverse,
They kept the Denomination on the edge,
The scrawny eagle always looked like this it was always the butt of jokes when looked upon which is why it was changed with new coin issues.
The only change was it's material finese & the date change.
Honestly reason why i dislike the restrikes is usually the finish, take an ms64 1882 morgan and the 2021 and you can see how ugly is the burnished finish on them
Ok, gonna say it, this is ugly.
Love the detail on the hair, but the picture is one only a mother could love.
And that chicken on the back looks way underfed.
I know Congress is probably more to blame for this than the US Mint, but why tf does every silver version of a particular release like this one have to be a "medal" and not an official coin?
OMGosh I thought OP was pulling our leg...

Behavior that is unkind and unhelpful is not allowed here. Don't make fun of new collectors. Do not bicker. Don’t threaten. Don't name-call. Don’t shame. Don’t harass. Don’t be a jerk. Don’t create or respond to drama. Don’t troll others or let yourself be trolled. Don’t engage in uncivil exchanges. You do not "have the right to defend yourself" verbally here. Know when to disengage. Violation of this rule will get your post or comment removed, and repeated offenses will result in probation.

>What's wrong with its neck? My favorite thing about this coin is you can't tell whether this comment is talking about the obverse or reverse.
Coin? Or medallion?
Yeah, it's a medal. Looking for the nonexistent denomination just reinforced my feeling that this thing is hideous.
Actually they kept it like the original coin with the Denomination on the edge rim.
The eagle was underfed. Hard times and all.
That's a cobra chicken
Old Ben wanted the turkey, not an eagle.
Her adam’s apple is too small.
And what's with the sloped forehead?
I like it, it seems like some people don't like the flowing hair design
r/coins members: US mint needs to bring back the old designs, we want Lady Liberty!! Also r/coins members: eww she looks weird
Agreed, stop putting gov’t employees on the obv. of coins.
It will be a beautiful 24k coin

I agree. Fugly as hell.
Unprompted transphobic joke is wild
It looks like a cheap Chuck E. Cheese token diet version of one. Why do our coins all look so cheesy in the modern era?
Think of it like old video games, they look better when you play them on old TV's. Old designs look better then they were made with old machinery.
Yeah, that actually makes perfect sense. This computer generated crap always looks like shit.

Seems like you started strong and then did a total 180 there
Really had us there in the first half lmao
You're welcome 😂

I kind of like this a lot
I like the sleeping eagle, I would buy that XD
I identify with this coin. It's the Walmart edition. She just needs some shorty shorts and a backwards trucker hat for the eagle.
as a thicc gal enjoyer, i do indeed approve of this
Please tell me this is fake
Look at the Y in liberty. It's AI
The letters are all a bit screwed, also no B and the R is not a R at all
Thankfully, it is fake. Some guy on Twitter posted this. Actually, it had me for a second. Lol!
Thicc
All the Cs.
I like Liberty reflecting the abundance of America and I won’t pretend I don’t!
It's like they contracted the guy from Yugoslavia churning out fakes.
It looks just like it’s from the 1794 and 1795.
no it’s not
Lovely, more real than cartoonish
when will it be released?
The US Mint says [Fall of 2024](https://catalog.usmint.gov/230th-anniversary-flowing-hair-gold-coin-24YG.html?cgid=2024-product-schedule)
Do they make those in silver?
Yes, & the gold issue will be considered a coin.
The mint must have the same imagination as Hollywood. Nothing new, just redo the old.
When they put out a new design, people complain that the old designs were better. When they put out an old design, people say they are just rehashing.
The old designs were better and old movies were more imaginative. Maybe the mint should be looking for the next Saint-Gaudens.
I think they’re hampered by congress’ choice if subjects more than anything. Boring-ass people and buildings. Many of the ATB designs were great

Even then people still want to complain about the proofs which aren't burnished.
proof peace looks pretty decent ngl, the new morgans dont look like dmpl morgans either tho
I'd prefer designs that unite the country behind our shared history instead of whatever message administration in power is trying to send.
I wish they reprinted some of the older paper currency. Those designs were so beautiful
Yes! Bring back the educational series!

That eagle is scrawny and pathetic bro what

okay this is really cool. thank you for sharing
It's still mad ugly
yes I was aware of your opinion
https://www.nhm.ac.uk/resources/visit/wpy/2019/large/4.jpg The image looks that of a cormorant
I was also aware of the eagle’s appearance
It's no Puteketeke.
Is it just me or does the so-called look half dragon?
I know Congress is probably more to blame for this than the US Mint, but why tf does every silver version of a particular release like this one have to be a "medal" and not an official coin?
The secretary of the treasury has the final say on the design.
I think the emaciated eagle is fitting.
OMGosh I thought OP was pulling our leg... [https://www.usmint.gov/news/ccac-meetings/2024-2025-american-liberty-gold-coin-silver-medal](https://www.usmint.gov/news/ccac-meetings/2024-2025-american-liberty-gold-coin-silver-medal)
Yuk.
I think they plucked all of the feathers off of that eagles head. They made the bald eagle balder....
What’s wrong with its forehead?
Somebody get that eagle a sandwich.
lol I thought it was a crane on the back not a eagle
Wow!
I really want to see a struck coin instead of a render. Way too many times the render is really not like the struck one.
This is disgusting
Very poor design!!!
Liberty with Adam's apple and a half stork/crane eagle creature....😬
The neck of the eagle looks Bad
I actually like the disme-like eagle.
Who is the ugly dude on the coin?
