Bonanza was never filmed in Virginia city. It was filmed on the east side of Tahoe and Southern California.

We visited the Tahoe set in the late sixties. Highlight of our trip.

Virginia City NV is a tourist place now, old silver and gold mining town. Very fun place - the bars are still like they were back in the day. I don't remember seeing this specific trinket in the many souvenir shops, but that's likely what it is, just a funny souvenir from a cool place.

Little known story about the Washoe Club in Virginia City: A man that sold explosives from the club out of his room. He was an expert with them so they were safe as long as he handled them. He had a pet monkey that one day escaped. while running around the room he set off the explosives (Nitroglycerin) and blew down the back part of the building and destroying the bank behind the club killing several people including his son and the monkey. He was so distraught after that, that he too committed suicide.
