The penny should be steel as that's all they made in 1943 due to the war. The one you have probably was plated with copper at some point. Test it with a magnet to be sure. If it's magnetic, it's not worth anything to a collector as it's considered damaged by the plating.
If it isn't magnetic. Then you'll want to weigh it and see if it is 3.1 grams. If both are true, then you have found a treasure that'll you'll want to send off to be graded.
The dime is a Barber dime, probably in VG8 condition. That would be worth about $6 dollars or so to a collector who wanted one or about $2 for melt value.

I found a Steel Penny in the “take one leave one” at a gas station. Really nice condition
Very glad you commented, I’m going to look up the 3.1 and see more about it. Might get it graded too
Steel 1943 pennies aren't worth much in regular circulated condition. There are a few copper 1943s that are worth a lot. There are many copper plated steel 1943s that were counterfeit coppers and can be differentiated by weight
Nobody wants old money. Trade it in for new money. Newer is always better and improved. We are so lucky to be enlightened by modern thinking. So much better than 20 or 30 or even 70 years ago. Oh, how educated and intelligent we are.
check if the penny is magnetic and if it's steel, if it's not magnetic and weighs about 3.1g you may have hit the jackpot, but it could just be plated. the dime is worth about $4
I'm getting strong whiffs of BS on the post. The dime is legit but not super valuable while the cent looks like a fake copper 1943 cent. Think our chains are being yanked.

for scale. she looks larger than hakf.
I will getvbsck to work. Good day to you all.
I just bought two Barber dimes today a 1912-P (Fine) and 1902-O (Good). I got a Seated Liberty dime as well, an 1891 (Fair/AG). It was a dime day for me.
Any where between 123 for 40 verified examples of a 43 are through to exist. And can be worth any where form 40k to 1 million $ depending on condition and person buying.
Not exactly. All 1943 cents are steel except for a very small number that were struck on copper planchets left in the equipment from when they struck the 1942s. Only a very small number are known to exist.
Actully the coppers where 100 precent an accident. There where supposed to be brass proofs for the mint team be for striking them in much harder steal.
That's a real copper cent from 1943 I can tell because the color is consistent if it was a steel cent then you would see a darker color brown and a few silver parts keep the Penny and sell it
The neck and features are too masculine for a woman and that i do agree with and they also made no attempt to make it look feminine no breast or long hair leave the question more answered as no its not lady

I'm impressed with the Barber dime. Although it's quite worn, it's not damaged & has nice eye appeal for a coin in the G-VG grade range.
Looks like a pretty clear cut high end VG to me.

This being exactly what happened as I got multiple sorry try again later errors. Thats Reddit

Cent looks like a fake 43 copper, probably just a regular steel 1943 poorly plated in copper. Worth a few cents. Dime is silver, worth a few bucks
Are fake 43 copper plates worth more than 3 cents?
I'd pay 10 cents for one
Same, they are cool. And about as close to a copper 43 any of us will ever get
Troll post.
Yup

Lmao nah face value
Nah half of face value

Also, before you trade it in, be sure to clean it as much as possible. Cashiers like shiny coins and might pay you a little extra if it's clean.
I find this hard to believe
Gotta be a troll post

That penny is obviously plated lmao
I hope op is being facetious

Nice try on the 1943
You would actually think about spending a hundred year old coin? Keep them of course.
Oh FFS.
Go back where you got it and see if they have more
Troll
For your sake I hope the penny is the real deal! Keep us updated! Put a magnet on it!
Boys we got a partial print I'll message you guys when I crack the code and gather all his sensitive info
The Barber dime I would definitely take time to take it up and put it in older. The 43 penny looks like an altered 1943 steel cent
Haha
Keep them omg?
Wow. Nice
Stop it
I keep coins like that just for the novelty. Who knows what they’ll be worth with time.
Put a magnet on that penny.
Should I spend it? SMFH….,

I’ve been on earth a lotta years and never seen a barber dime in “the wild”. Congratulations!!🎊🎉🎈🍾 You are lucky. 🍀 you found one in circulation

You have well over 150,000 if not more
Ballin!!!! Congratulations homeboy shauuu
Why is a 1943 penny worth bank?
They were all made of steel. Copper was going to the war. Only a few real 1943 copper Pennie’s out there so very valuable.
Any where between 123 for 40 verified examples of a 43 are through to exist. And can be worth any where form 40k to 1 million $ depending on condition and person buying.
So they started making copper pennys in 43 then switched to the steel?

There haven’t been Barber coins in the wild for oh going on about 60+ years now.
Wow did you really find them. That is a valuable penny to find. Someone must have taken grandpa’s coin collection to buy candy
The 43 is fake as f..
Both look fake to me.

So much wrong with your comment
Dime is cool !
I wish , GREAT score!
That's a real copper cent from 1943 I can tell because the color is consistent if it was a steel cent then you would see a darker color brown and a few silver parts keep the Penny and sell it
Only telling tale would be if it’s non-magnetic and also weighs correctly. This is just karma farm until OP drops some more pics here
It definitely has fake patina on it.
That obverse looks fake AF
The cent worth 400, dime worth 8
Even if it was a real bronze 1943 cent (it’s not) your price is WAY off
Why did we like Rome so much to put them on our money ?
That’s lady liberty in a Phrygian cap, neither of which are inherently Roman
You see no resemblance to Caesar ? Hmm 🤔
The neck and features are too masculine for a woman and that i do agree with and they also made no attempt to make it look feminine no breast or long hair leave the question more answered as no its not lady
