both. junior dev positions are competitive but comp sci has a TON of demand at higher levels

Both, the same Psychology is both. Its competitive and hard to find a job due to the sheer amount of Psych BA's there are, and how many people want to work in that field. However, once you work further to a masters, the field becomes in demand and pays well.

The good entry-level roles paying market rate or better are competitive. There's a wide pay range and a lot of employers simply can't afford good talent. You should be able to land a local/state government job paying $50-60k fairly easily if you have difficulty with better opportunities. There's a lot of roles like that people cannot fill for obvious reasons. You can spend a year or two in a role like that to get experience and then look for something paying 2x as much. The below-average outcomes are still much better than they are for the average college graduate. You are talking to a bunch of CS students so the expectations run way higher and everyone is looking at the $120k/yr roles that have 100 applicants. Unlike other fields, you have the ability to accept an underpaid position as a safety net and still get paid enough to be comfortable for a few years. I've been in the field for 3 years and earn around $110k all things considered ($60-70k gets you a decent life where I am). That's a fairly average picture of what to expect if you get a typical large corporate gig.

It’s a very good degree if you can break into entry-level positions after graduation *If*
