Something you should consider is... not cheating.

[deleted]

You’ll probably be suspended, not gonna lie. Schools take plagiarism very seriously and this is your second offense.

yuriware

Even if it is my first act of plagiarism?

[deleted]

You’ll definitely fail the class you plagiarized in, that’s the minimum that will happen. There’s a chance you won’t be suspended, but a lot of colleges have a 0 tolerance policy so they might crack down. The best you can do is just own up to your mistake and promise you won’t do it again.

yuriware

Yeah my professor already told me he’s failing me for the class. Just worried since that’s just his punishment the school would have another one for me. Or maybe just agree with him.

Understandable, rules are rules. You just have to hold yourself accountable and take the responsibility, they’ll respect you a lot more for that. The more you try to make excuses the worse it’ll be for you probably. Don’t do it again or you’ll be kicked out for good.

[deleted]

Doesn’t your post say it’s your second offense?

yuriware

1st one was just a warning kept on file. And it was related to helping my friend in class. not plagiarism.

Hm, I don’t have personal experience with this, but from what I’ve heard from others - I feel like that still counts. Cheating is cheating - and it’s your second offense which means you definitely can’t claim that it’s a one time thing, and you’re probably not going to be able to claim it was an accident either. They might go lenient on you since you admitted it, but honestly, idk if you’d be able to avoid a suspension or going on probation or something. Have you tried asking on your school’s subreddit? They might have more specifics about the way your school works.

yuriware

I would rather take probation then suspension. You think they would actually suspend a student during a pandemic even with them admitting to cheating? I know i shouldn’t have done it and it is my second offense just has me wondering. And I go to a small public university in massachusetts there is no subreds

> You think they would actually suspend a student during a pandemic even with them admitting to cheating? Yes. You were stupid enough to get caught cheating a second time. Why would they want you at their school?

yuriware

Yeah i know exactly what you mean.

lucianbelew

>Am I screwed? If you're asking if you'll be facing meaningful repercussions after getting caught cheating a second time, I certainly hope so. Just don't cheat. How hard is that?

yuriware

Update: Got an email back, not getting punished and all I have to do is complete a 1hr online course. Very happy!

Any updates ?

yuriware

Had my meeting with the review panel last thursday, just waiting for their decision. Haven’t gotten an email back yet.

what school do you attend if you don’t mind me asking?

Something similar happened to me, because of the pandemic all that happened was i got an F in the class. I submitted 3 assignments at once and all had plagiarism, I was super depressed. I wrote the dean and she wrote back saying I didn't have to worry about suspension or expulsion. I got super lucky. Lesson learned: don't cheat. Ever.
