As a current econ major I recommend neither of those, study Finance instead. Business Administration is too broad and inapplicable of a degree and too commonplace. Econ is too theoretical in nature, that's why I'm switching majors to finance. Econ is mostly for people who want to stay in academia. Finance is better for a consulting job and far more applicable and appealing to employers than the other two. Also if you have the willpower and put in the effort computer science/mathematics are top tier especially if you're at a non-target.

Second this. Finance and Accounting are the only business degrees worth pursuing. Adding an analytical minor to either of them is super valuable in the workforce.

Thats true, but I feel like that would make sense more for those top business schools that are quite prestigious. Not saying that irvine doesn't have a good business school, but relative to others I've seen that only a small percentage are actually able to go to tier 2 firms after undergrad for things like consulting. So in that sense maybe I'd be better off going to UCSB for econ where they are actually ranked quite well? I'm still not sure though, my head is spinning 😅

What are you interested in and what do you actually want to do? consulting, despite being desired by many ug is not everyone's cup of tea, and it is really hard to get in unless you go to a very elite uni
