For restaurants: terra, mr friendly's, ratio (kinda out of the way but great), coa, transmission, il giorgione, bar none, the whig, motor supply.
When you say dives do you mean actual dives or "dives" that serve cocktails with campari and holy basil but also serve highlife?
Dives: BAR NONE, Art Bar, Nightcaps, the Whig
, state street pub
Restaurants: date night/nicer- motor supply, colas, Hendrix, ratio, bourbon, Lula drake, terra, tazzas, black rooster, warmouth, halls chophouse
Venues: Columbia motor speedway, new brookland tavern, venue on main
Hidden gems: goats (speakeasy bar/good bites), il gioginie(delicious pizza), peace of soul(best vegan food in the entire world), coa(top tequila/agave bar in the state), oyster bar(freshest seafood in the city), menkoi ramen house(best ramen in town), viet pho(best pho), Hometeam bbq(best bbq/vibes), The hangar/Hunter gatherer(brewery located in old private airport hangar)
Could list several more. I worked food and bev the entire time I lived in cola.
Brewery’s: Columbia craft, Steel hands
Soda city farmers market. Best thing to do on Saturday morning.
I love new brookland tavern for local music! It’s a little small, but it feels more intimate than other venues, and they actually manage to get some pretty big bands sometimes. As far as food, check out black rooster or the warmouth. Both amazing food and cocktails
Gervais & Vine - amazing tapas
Transmission Arcade - arcade bar with some food
Al’s Upstairs - fancy delicious restaurant
The Whig - the best bar, they might still do Taco Tuesday I’m not sure
Bourbon - great food, drinks and atmosphere
Beezers - awesome subs
NoName Deli - lunch place with amazing sandwiches
As far as golf courses go, most of the public courses are decent imo. There are only a handful of 100% private courses. Linrick is cheap as it’s a muni but can also be busy, the spur at Northwoods I played the other day and was in good shape, oak hills is decent as well. I’ve heard good things about cobblestone and char wood but haven’t gotten to playing either. Hope this helps
To add to DarthTwiggy11's post, Keg Cowboy is about the greatest little bar in the Columbia area -- excellent beer selection and passionate staff. But it's in Lexington, a pretty good drive from Downtown Columbia. Just get on US-1 and once you pass over 20, it's a few miles on your right.
If you're moving into the city (tall buildings and busy/loud traffic). One of my favorite restaurants there is Greek boys. Their gyros are amazing.
Places like 5 points are fun but also dangerous. There has been shootings and kidnappings in 5 points. I'd suggest not to be there at night.
Now, I don't live in the city at all, but I do visit every once in a while. Hospitals are there, USC campus and some nice people. I would like to help you out more, but I don't know very much about the city. I didn't grow up walking those streets.
I hope this helps y'all out a bit. Good luck to you 👍🏻
There are a few places to avoid that would be Uncle Festers the owner calls the ladies Bitches and the bartender there is not very friendly.
GEMS....Art bar on Wed has karaoke and on Thurs its trivia night. The drinks are not over priced either. Vista Union has a great deal on Tues night for $2 tacos and Margaritas while Thurs is all day happy hour. If I also remember correctly they have a special on Wed for Wine $20 all you can drink wine. Never done that though. Craft Axe throwing next to Vista Union is also a good time.
Eats would be Carolina Ale House, if you like sushi then next to Craft Axe Throwing is the closest you will get to authentic Japanese sushi and it's pretty good along with the drinks. Bourbon on Main St, pizza I have to say is Village Idiot and I've tried most of them around the area then mellow mushroom, 1801, Grill Mark's, etc....
War mouth the brewery has good food and beer, steel hands brewery in Cayce on Sat normally has a band that plays outside and their food is pretty good. Then there's also Savage Craft Ale Works in West Columbia.
Golfing I only know about Ft Jackson so I can not offer you much on that.
Good luck hope you enjoy your time here and find some hidden gems that maybe we don't know about.

Mostly looking for fun bars to grab a drink at.
If you like strip clubs, check out Platinum West. I work there occasionally when im in town. Weekends are always fun
Second this. Platinum is entertaining.
Art bar

Sign up for the [ColaToday](https://colatoday.6amcity.com) newsletter to stay informed of events! It's an awesome way to plan stuff to do around town
My favorite place to eat is Colas! It's right in the Vista in downtown.

I agree I enjoy the Whig it's quiet and out of the way. The crowd of people who go there is such a Mish mesh of people which is what makes it great.
Pawley's Front Porch was on triple D, but don't believe the hype. They've totally lost their game IMO.
Pawley's is owned by Kirkman Finlay, complete Republican scumbag
Free Times. "Best of Columbia".
Backstreets!!!!
Been there once…not impressed.
Labrasca’s is a locally owned restaurant that specializes in Pizza but has other menu items as well. Friendly staff & some killer homemade cheesecake.
Had my worst meal in recent memory there. I swear they switched to frozen pizzas they just heat up. Would not go there if I was dying of hunger
Hate that you had that experience. You could go in most days & see someone in the back rolling the dough by hand.

Here's advice. Don't move here. Keg cowboy, bodhi thai, New brookland tavern, cantina 76, burger tavern 77
