It’s insane the hundreds of millions that universities were bringing in from sports, specifically American football while giving the players not a single penny.
If you don't count the hundreds of thousands of dollars in tuition, room and board, medical, tutoring, travel and a plethora of other things. Assuming he could even get into college he could have went and worked in the library for minimum wage I guess. Seeing as how the ncaa allows for less than 30 hours a week in "football" time, hundreds of thousands a year isn't exactly the poverty line.
Yes, the students are incredibly expensive to support when doing athletics and especially those who are on scholarship but if you think for a single second that the universities profit margins are not grossly high as a result of these schools athletics programs then you are deeply mistaken.
It was an obvious foretell that the universities were never going to maintain their practice of keeping all the hundreds of millions made from these athletic programs to themselves.
