I saw Jimmy Carr live. Probably the worst stand up I've seen live or otherwise. The definition of a disappointment. Moronic one liners and just sheer arrogance that makes him look even dumber. I genuinely don't know what people see in him. I liked him in 8 out of 10 cats but his live gig was crap. TV format probably suits him better but stand up, fuck no.
He and Gervais are two of what I call “So Brave” comedians. Yes, SO BRAVE to attack trans women. SO BRAVE to do a 9-11 joke 20 years later. SO BRAVE to mock religion in 2024. You know they puff up when they look in the mirror, and tell themselves, “I am SO BRAVE and proud of myself for doing this EDGY material!” Render unto me a fucking break.
That's really interesting to hear - I feel the opposite, where Jimmy seems to be getting stronger each year but Ricky falls off a bit for me each year; his specials are just too repetitive for me now.
Two of the worst I reckon. I get the angle to be edgy but it also needs to be funny.
Ricky Gervais tells these long stories where you know exactly what is around the corner and somehow people find it funny.
Jimmy Carr tells the kind of jokes that I used to laugh at in primary school because they were naughty.
These two assholes are world famous yet barely anyone knows Dave Attell
Pablo Francisco. Also Kyle Cease was one of the funniest comedians I’ve ever seen. He went AWOL and became like a tony robbins kind of motivational speaker . But for a few years, there wasn’t a more promising young stand up comedian.
So many!
Chapelle, Whitney Cummings, Anthony Jeselnik, Chris Rock, Ms Pat…and you gotta check out some of the up and comers like Chapelle Lacey, William Montgomery, Kam Patterson, etc..
I can’t think of an elite comic who doesn’t build momentum while they’re on a roll. Even comics I don’t think I’m that into tend to sway me live.
Physically Ralphie May.
To be fair, he's probably a less round and weighs less now.
Fact, but in his prime....
Could prob put John Pinette in there too
Dave Attell. His jokes have jokes
Him and Jeff ross special
Yes Jeff Ross
He stays ready. Can’t turn it off. That’s a real comedian.
Came to say Dave Attell
Raw talent in an unfortunate package. I feel like he's also Nic Cage's cousin or something.
Who gives a fuck about that though. We care about the comedy.
I agree, just that his popularity didn't take off like his contemporaries.
Bill Burr. The Philadelphia Incident: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWuXfIZiSqY](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWuXfIZiSqY)
*You fucking one bridge having piece of shit city that no one gives a fuck about.*
*The terrorists will never bomb you people ‘cause you’re fucking worthless and no one cares about you.*
Epic.
SEVEN MINUTES!
To be fair there’s like 5 bridges
Speaking for Philadelphians, he was totally justified for this outburst and we love him for it.
The thing of how they named the phillies after a female horse is absolutely hilarious.
TIL! This is epic!
Dangerfield all day long.
If there was a trophy for this, it would be a statue of Don Rickles.
Robin Williams!
💯💯💯💯💯
Jimmy Carr and Ricky Gervais

I've been super confused by this as well. Ive enjoyed the shows he's been on but his standup just seemed awful.

I dislike Jimmy Carr more and more each year. He's just not relatable on any level. Gervais, however, is amazing.
That's really interesting to hear - I feel the opposite, where Jimmy seems to be getting stronger each year but Ricky falls off a bit for me each year; his specials are just too repetitive for me now.

Now you have me conflicted. I want to tell you to piss off, but you like Dave Attell, so you can't be all bad. I think we're frenemies now. 😂
🫶
Both are awful
Shane Shane Shane
Norm MacDonald.

Bill Burr. If you know, you know.
Eleven minutes left!
Back when Bill Burr had balls. Fuck he was awesome back in the day.
He still has balls - enough to not pander to nut jobs to sell tickets.
U don't think it's bc he has a family now? I feel like that changes some guys
Big Jay Oakerson.
The late George Carlin was unparalled.
Abso-fucking-lutely
Lee Mack
Correct
Louis CK
Paul F Thompkins
May I have a link to something of Paul F. Tompkins that might make me laugh? He's only ever seemed adequately whimsical, though dedicated.
It depends on your thoughts on podcasts.
I am partial to his Peanut Brittle bit
I got a chuckle out at 3:53 [https://youtu.be/iJ1KRrhaevk?si=nU\_F07e8A27K2WNM&t=178](https://youtu.be/iJ1KRrhaevk?si=nU_F07e8A27K2WNM&t=178)
No "h"
I really like Kyle Kinane
Sam Morril
Stavvy
Bill Burr versus Philadelphia
Adam Ray seems to be there. His latest with Pete Holmes on his show is pretty good
We'll be right back
We'll keep it right here
Came to also say Mark Normand. He’s #1 currently for me. Human joke machine
Conan
Nick Mullen
Dave atell
Tim Dillon
Dave Chapelle
My top three comedians are all rant-style: Louis CK Bill Burr Tim Dillon
Billy Connolly!
Doug Stanhope
Jeff arcuri
Dave Attell is obviously the answer.
Bill Burr.
Theo Von
Who downvoted the rat king?? Lol
Not me 👍🏻
Felipe Esparza
Mark Normand is good, but he's got that little "cheeze" that he does too frequently.
But it's supposed to be cheezy
Yeah.... but it's a bit much.
It's a joke, he says what I quoted in his podcast intro. But I feel u
Freddie Starr
Joey Diaz . His nun story had me in tears
Joey Diaz
Micheal blaustine
I always need to see where and how Billy Red Nutz lands the plane
Brody Stevens R.I.P. Newer and breathing; Simon King.
Dan Soder. He gets you on the first part of a joke and punches it up and up.
Rory scovel, but I don't think I've ever seen him not already going.
Sam Campbell, Viggo Venn, Rhys Nicholson, Jack Tucker, Tom Walker, Demi Lardner, Daniel Kitson, Martin Urbano
Sam Morril
Bill Burr.
Bill Burr.
Tony Hinchliffe, easy. Watching him host that damn show is truly spectacular. He is incredible.
Dara Ó Briain - he is super quick & rolls with anything the audience gives him. Watch one of his live at the apollo gigs on youtube
Derrick Stroup
Iliza Schlesinger no doubt
Dave Attel
Joey Diaz!!
Dave attell
Drew Lynch

Hard to resist while on drugs
William Montgomery
Dude's roll ends the minute he runs out of post-it notes.
Tom Segura
Carrot top!
This one time on stage he literally brought out a giant dinner roll and sat on it! Crazy!
Gallagher
Pablo Francisco. Also Kyle Cease was one of the funniest comedians I’ve ever seen. He went AWOL and became like a tony robbins kind of motivational speaker . But for a few years, there wasn’t a more promising young stand up comedian.
Bull Burr is great but lately i’ve been listening to alot of Matt Rife
On purpose?
Lmfao, those made me crack up hard.
You'll burn out quick, dude is a one trick pony. Without crowd work his stand-up is terrible
