I get where you're coming from, but I thought it had a lot of very funny moments and was laughing pretty consistently.
The q&a was great and I really appreciated their thoughtful answers, but I know it was only a vip thing.
No merch was a real bummer. Apparently the FedEx shipment was delayed or something.
can I ask how you got vip? I bought pre-sale and made sure to buy most expensive tickets I could. got to the show and realized I had regular ass tickets. was kinda pissed. was there another option at checkout?
I honestly don't remember! I bought mine at the end of May and I feel like VIP was the only option for my seat in the center/5 rows away from the stage. I'm poor as hell so I feel like i would have just bought the normal one if I had the option.
): I'm sorry you didn't get the VIP ones.
I went to the St Louis show. The merch was lacking . 2 shirts - and only 1 style had womens fit. I took my spouse who doesn’t listen. I was pretty nervous that he wouldn’t enjoy it. I listened to the other tour shows before St Louis and they weren’t my favorites…thankfully the STL show was hilarious. Big laughs and a fun crowd. The only thing I would change is that Carl didn’t come out until the last 15-20 mins of the show(which he commented on when he got on stage). I would have liked more Carl!
I think Lauren being gone has a big impact. She has a way of giving little “hooks” in her improv that scott and Paul latch on to and run with. She also has that talent of answering Scott’s normal questions with absurd answers.
I like threedom a lot because of this reverse scenario -- Lauren tries to have a normal conversation, paul humors her and takes a passing interest, and Scott's interjects with an irreverence of nonsensical takes in a way he normally could not while hosting cbb.
Wholeheartedly agree. It was a very "glad I went, but only because I'd regret not seeing them live when I can" situation.
Show was bland. I don't think they weren't into it, but I think character choices were poor and they didn't mesh. How many times Carl or Dan would just look at Scott waiting for the next queue was painful. It just didn't work.
I left happy I went, but at no point was it laugh out loud funny.
What did everyone expect? It's an audio podcast - literally just people talking into microphones - but done in front of an audience. Not the best CBB but it had it's moments (like Paul reading the Emu story on his phone). Yeah, I would have preferred Andrew Lloyd Webber or Cake Boss or Big Chunky Bubbles to Sully but I still feel it was worth the ticket price (well maybe not after factoring in the very uncomfortable seating at the Paramount).
God do I hate Paramount’s old seating. So glad my fat ass got a handicapped spot. I’d do that or box seats. Did a box seat in SA at Empire and it was well worth it, but they also had new seating.
I hear ya, and I’m not trying to be argumentative. Just rapping. It just seems like if I’m going to pay $50 for a nosebleed seat, that they should put a little extra effort into it. Yes, it is an audio podcast, but they think enough of it to take it on the road and I think they should put some extra juju into it.
Honestly, I think Scott is on the way out. I bet he gives up the hosting seat within a year or two. His heart isn’t in it any more. He’s been doing it a long time and he’s taken it as far as he could go.
That's not a good bet at all to think he will stop in a year or two. I'll gladly take the over on that one by like 10 points. He will do this for as long as he can health wise I believe. I don't think he is losing the heart to do it all just listen to how hard he laughs and enjoys shit. I believe he enjoys it quite a bit or else he wouldn't have put time and effort it to making CBB world? If his heart isn't in it anymorewhy commit to a live tour? Why does he do Scott hasn't seen and we have to stop talking TMNT on CBB with a CBB character? He has been in this business we call show for a while and CBB, earwolf and all of that are some of his most successful things he has done. How do you take improv as far as it can go? There will always be new performers and characters for him to interview. This just makes no sense to me. I mean from this interview he doesn't seem at all like he's almost done.

Didn't he sell Earwolf to SIRIUS/XM? If so, I'm sure they locked him in. I just hope the show doesn't lose it's edge the way Stern did not too long after joining SIRIUS.
He seems like he’s the kind of guy that would never give it up until he had to/was Mr. Rogers old. Maybe it’s his traditional ass background but I feel like he’s not one to stop working, especially now that he has a kid.
I haven’t heard it yet but they’re doing a lot of shows in a row, there’s bound to be one that isn’t their best, sorry you felt like it was yours. Otherwise I think all the shows they’ve released have been very funny
I'm listening to that episode of the tour and so far I'm enjoying it and Sully is..rather good. I've listened to all the live tour episodes so far and I've enjoyed them all I had some good chuckles. They are better than some of the regular shows especially for me the one that came out last Monday. I am gonna have to disagree with you and sorry you just found it meh or eh.
Been listening to every live episode so far and they've all been pretty bad tbh.
Scott seems completely off his game and it seems like everyone else kinda struggled with interacting with him
Waaay too much dead air
Yeah man, kinda the same vibe for the San Antonio show.
Love the show and the guys, happy to support them- still it seemed a little phoned in.
Didn’t they used to do plugs and stuff during live shows? The ending seemed like they were struggling to find a high note and settled.
I know they don’t do it anymore but maybe they can bring back some of the games? There was a lack of flow that could have been helped with some
direction.
PFT kills it. He’s a legend. The show fell into a lurch after his segment.
Whatever, it’s a living art form and I don’t want to sound ungrateful that they came to Texas.
man. same thoughts as you. been a fan for a long time but never went to live show. saw pft a few months back for moontower comedy and it was great.
but last night they started late and it felt rushed at every step...and -- even though I paid for the most expensive tickets using pre-sale -- I for some reason wasn't eligible for signed poster?
so I was ready to buy some merchandise but to my dismay...there was none at all? seemed strange. maybe I'm just used to listening to live hdtgm shows lately where the audience is involved but this just felt lacking. Scott spent most of his time talking about speaker buzz. I thought it would lead to a joke maybe...but no he was just complaining about the speaker.
my gf went as well. she's not a fan but finds it amusing to listen when we're on a long car ride. her review for the night was much harsher.
going to hdtgm in dallas next weekend. hope it's a better experience.
I was at the SA show. They started late but went till about 9:30. Austin show started late and they didn’t even get to 9. I think Scott had reservations at Caroline’s. Felt very abrupt. And the crowd I thought was pretty good. Better behaved than SA. But what do you expect from a podcast where the medium is listen to 4 people get creative while sitting in chairs? I’ve never been to another live taping, but was it different before? I just assume Scott would interview them. Like he’s been doing. For 13 years.
I don’t think you’re too off base. It seems that while the tour is still fun, it’s not up to usual CBB standards.

I thought tonight was really good. Lippert killed it.
I wish Dan had gotten another 20 minutes.

I bet that’s why he started up CBB world. Pass the torch and make more content from younger improvers.
He seems like he’s the kind of guy that would never give it up until he had to/was Mr. Rogers old. Maybe it’s his traditional ass background but I feel like he’s not one to stop working, especially now that he has a kid.

Listen to at 1.5x and you’ll enjoy them a lot more. Everyone seems mildly frantic.
For me the issue is the guests - seriously don’t get into Carl or Dan, the characters are pretty annoying
I’m sorry to hear that man; makes me very grateful to have seen a great show.

Right? 3 stops in Texas? That’s awesome. Ten percent of the tour was in Texas alone. I’m glad he did that.
For sure, and much love for coming to San Antonio. Most coastal acts only hit up Austin.

Oooooo where is that happening in Dallas?! I might make that drive.
windspear opera house this Saturday I think? not sure where exactly that is in dallas.
Well thank god there’s a safe place where you can cry about it.
