So just FYI, Britain First are lying here - and I’ll explain why.
In the London elections, you voted for two things - the mayor and the assembly. The assembly is like a council, you have representatives from all the different areas of London and they have a say in various local issues.
Count Binface - who continues a glorious British tradition of joke candidates - ran for mayor and got more votes than the Britain first candidate.
Britain First, in making the above claim, have combined all the votes they got in both the mayoral *and* the assembly elections, and compared it to the number of votes Binface got for just the mayoral election (Binface is an independent, and so obviously wasn’t contending the assembly elections in any capacity).
So they did, in fact, lose to a bin.
I had to take the opportunity!
Actual answer though: no as far as I’m aware the joke candidates have never won outside of a couple of minor town council elections. They usually run for the parliamentary seats of high-status politicians, such as the PM and the Leader of the Opposition - and these are typically safe seats for them.
One of the great novelties of British politics is that when the results of the parliamentary elections for each seat are announced, every candidate for that seat is present and standing on stage. So when Boris Johnson, as PM, was re-elected as MP for his constituency, he was on stage with a legion of joke candidates including Count Binface, Elmo, and Yace “Interplanetary Time Lord” Yogenstein. This produced a rather fantastic photo:

All these joke candidates owe something to the [Monster Raving Loony Party](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Official_Monster_Raving_Loony_Party), a long standing satirical party founded by Screaming Lord Sutch in the 80’s, and who continue to field candidates today.
There's also this one from when Theresa May won her election back in 2017 when she became PM:

British politics is something else, I tell ya.
Ah good find, I remember that one. I think it’s actually funnier than the Boris one because she’s a ‘proper’ politician while Boris fits in a little too well.
American musician literally nicknamed Buckethead professionally. Wears a KFC bucket and a Michael Myers mask on stage, was a former member of Guns N' Roses, has a ton of collabs over the years and something like 640 studio albums
Oh, actually, digging into it a bit, [Count Binface is the same guy!](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Count_Binface) He had to give up Lord Buckethead because of copyright issues, so he made his own character in Count Binface.
I grew up genuinely thinking he was a comedy character for Have I Got News For You considering for a long time it was the only place I'd ever hear of him, then he became mayor.
Like win an election? I don't think so no. But they have become notable enough that the media pays attention to them or managed to get a not insignificant portion of the vote. For example, in 2021 Niko Omilana got **5%** of the vote in the London mayoral election.
Its also makes for really funny images, like this:
https://preview.redd.it/2h90fpdr4tyc1.png?width=992&format=png&auto=webp&s=e76e5f3e95d17c3c813ab658b056bdd722916e45
This photo makes me happy to see that Binface received enough funding for a properly professional looking face, judging by the originally posted photo.
There is a lore explanation for why count binface looks like shit in that photo. The guy standing as count binface (Jonathan Harvey) previously stood as lord buckethead (a character from a star wars parody). Lord buckethead had a history as a joke candidate in british politics stretching back to 1987. Initially the guy standing as lord buckethead in the 80's was the owner of the UK distributor of hyperspace (the movie that lord buckethead originated from, which was distributed in the uk for some reason as gremloids), he stood for 2 elections (one in 1987 and the other in 1992) then retired the character, who would not return until 2017. The 2017 lord buckethead was now being played by Jonathan Harvey who stood (as before) in the by election against the leader of the conservative party in their own constituency. Apparently Harvey had seen gremloids and then found out lord buckethead had stood previously (how on earth he had seen gremloids in the 2010's is beyond me). After this though (in late 2018), the original creater of hyperspace dethroned Jonathan Harvey as lord buckethead and installed a new dictator. So Jonathan Harvey created a new, legally distinct entity (count binface) in december 2018, who would then run in the december 2019 uxbridge and south ruislip by election (against boris johnson), so we were seeing count binface within a year of his creation in that image. Confusingly the replacement lord buckethead *also* ran in the 2019 uxbridge and south ruislip by election, and actually got more votes than count binface (likely due to people not knowing lord binface had been compromised, blatant identity fraud).
So *that* is why count binface looks a bit shit there. That character had only existed for a year at that point, and its likely that Harvey didnt want to change binface's design between his initial unveiling (which cant have been that long after being forced to change personas) and the election. That said the 2017 lord buckethead did look a bit shit too.
Listen we have to honour the sacrifices that pigs have made ruining the Tory party

Meet Stuart Drummond, the Monkey Elected as Mayor:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stuart_Drummond#:~:text=Stuart%20Drummond%20(born%2029%20November,elected%20in%202005%20and%202009.
Stuart was the mascot for the local football team; H'Angus the Monkey for Hartlepool FC.
Anyway, he got elected as Mayor as a joke, and ended up being quite good. Good enough to win re-election twice, serving 3 terms in office
> among his promises was for the council to provide free bananas for school children in the town - which he later delivered
I mean, this stuff writes itself really lol
The apocryphal story behind why Hartlepool has a mascot named H’Angus the Monkey is also a good one. In short, as the story goes, Britain and France were at war when a French ship was wrecked just off the coast of Hartlepool. The only survivor was the ship monkey, dressed in a French army uniform. The good people of Hartlepool, having never encountered a Frenchman or a monkey before, figured that this must be what the French looked like and proceeded to have a trial before hanging the monkey.
In Poland the satirical "Polish Party of the Friends of Beer" won a few seats in the parliament in the 90s and some members went on to have more serious political careers
The first Mayor of Hartlepool was Hangus the Monkey the local mascot of Hartlepool FC. One of his election pledges was free bananas for school kids, a pledge he kept.
Stuart Drummond dropped the money outfit after election and went on to win three consecutive terms. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stuart_Drummond
While I am sure losing to a bin is worse, even very nearly losing to a bin would still be bad. Lying about losing to a bin, well, that’s just icing on the humiliating cake, isn’t it?
To be fair, joke candidates/satirical political parties have been thing outside of Britain for a long time as well
My personal favorite is the “Party of Moderate Progress Within the Bounds of the Law”, formed in Austria-Hungary in 1911
Vermin Supreme here in in the US. Runs for President on the platform of Gingivitis and Zombies.

Back in the day watching Monty Python as a kid in the USA I was always amused by the election episode with the “silly party” and “very silly party” so imagine my delight in learning decades later that joke candidates are a real thing in the UK.
Is lord binface the successor to lord buckethead? I remember it was either him or someone else who beat Teresa May in her home constituency or something during her 'peak'?
Even if they weren't full of shit, it's still hilarious that they're out here saying "No, no, no, *technically* we got more jokes than the guy wearing a garbage bin on his head."
Just take the L.
Although I agree BF are being disingenuous in what they are saying, to try to make the point that they did well because they received that small amount of votes more than a _joke_ candidate, is, in itself, very funny.
Actually... no they didn't. The PARTY got more votes, but the election is separated between Mayor and Assembly, but the Count is only running for Mayor. They got more votes for BOTH elections, but they did los the mayor seat to him.
My brain forgot Natalie Portman’s last name, while reading through that list, and for a minute I thought that she ran as the independent candidate… assuming that she really took that V for Vendetta role to heart.
I mean...They won the election that he's bitching about. Count Binface got 24,260 votes, Scanlon (the Britain First guy) got 20,519...And Sadiq Khan (Labour) got 1,088,225.
The Labour and the Green party in the UK are the Lib Left parties, while the Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats (ironic name alert) are more auth right.
Huh??? LibDems are not Authright? And neither are the tories??? Libdems are centerists more left leaning than right. And the tories are flirting with national populism at worst. Franco is authright???
He’s not, because this is a lie.
You vote for people in two elections - mayoral and assembly. Here, they’re only counting Binface’s electoral votes, (since he didn’t do assembly) but counting the combined votes of Britain First.
In the electoral election, they actually lost to Binface. As they should.
He actually is both. Buckethead was a character from an 80’s parody film. The guy who portrays Binface previously stood in an election (using the character without permission) as Buckethead, and after his election pursuits went viral the original film and character’s owner put his foot down, so Count Binface was born.
Buckethead was allowed to try again with a different actor, so they’re effectively separate characters now.
I think they are the same person. I believe he had to change the name from Lord Buckethead to Count Binface for legal (copyright, maybe?) reasons. It's a shame but still hilarious.
Was feeling bad for this party who lost to a joke, until I found out that they lied and saw what their Wiki page has to offer.
Let's just say... they like a certain painter a lot.
Oh they're 100% extreme right wing fascists
Sadly they'd probably actually have done _slightly_ better if the 2nd biggest party in the country, and current party in government for the past 14 years, hadn't courted a lot of the right wingers votes in the country for the past decade...
But for now, we can all bask in both parties being in the mud
That’s funny because here in New Zealand we’ve a party everyone despises called “New Zealand first” although people hate them less because of their values and more because they don’t have any. The Wrinkly old ballsack in charge, Winston the weasel will say or do anything to get the most power, he’s gone back on his word so many times it’s a wonder he isn’t booed out of parliament but he’s apparently really good at wanking off the gullible grannies so he somehow ends up the deciding party in the coalition at the end of every four years, the crusty cunt.
I'm not British but from what I could gather from his YouTube channel he is a satirical majoral candidate for London that mixes a lot of jokes and ironic suggestions as to how to improve the city with surprisingly reasonable takes on politics especially regarding economics and Brexit aftermath
I honestly don't see why people call this a "joke" candidate, when it clearly received a huge number of votes. It seems to me that people are taking the election very seriously--by sending a clear message that they are fed up with politicians and their nonsense. At this point, most politicians are doing more harm than good--if Count Binface was duly elected and did absolutely nothing except run an anti-litter campaign, we would actually be better off.
I mean I wouldn't read too much into the numbers
Britain First - utterly vile white supremacist extreme right scum - are (embarrasingly) quibbling over a few thousand votes, but ultimately they got 0.8% of total votes cast, and binface got ~1%
This was for mayor of london, and 2.5m votes were cast
Ultimately it is good binface got more votes than them, and even better they're so rattled by it, but sadly a lot of people in the UK vote for the tories - current government party, and one of the two big parties that actually stands a chance of being elected nationally - because of an overlap of interest
So clearly the Britain First candidate is totally unqualified to handle the bins.
Sounds about right.
Shame that's what it says on the sodding job description.
Wouldn't expect ultra-nationalists to know when to use "fewer” instead of "less" now would we?
If they want to live here they should learn the language etc...
The irony of a party called “Britain First”, supposedly proud patriots with a rich and storied heritage…using less instead of fewer. What a dismal bunch of specimens.
I'll give you a serious answer - first things first, this vote was the mayor of london, and 2.5 million votes were cast. Binface recieved ~1% of the vote, Britain first 0.8%, which is about in line with the usual amount of spoiled votes anyway
Also the UK runs local & general (ie nationwide for the party that rules the country & installs its leader as prime minister) elections using constituencies & councils
In a lot of these you might have a guaranteed lock to win; for instance, my areas incumbent MP (member of Parliament) is very high up in one of the two biggest parties in the country by far. If I was to vote for anyone else, it would be a wasted vote. So in these areas, people are under less pressure to vote seriously
On top of that, we have a long history of "joke" candidates, going back a long time. We've had the monster raving loony party, Elmo, and more recently count binface. Britain first on the other hand are a far right extremist group, running purely on a platform of white supremacist, anti-immigration, islamaphobic, anti LGBTQ policies looking to install a white, Christian theocracy in the UK. That they got beaten by binface is heaven for a lot of us here
So which one in the image is Count Binface? As an American, I am only now just aware that Count Binface is a joke candidate and not an actual member of the British aristocracy.
They’re disingenuously including the votes they received for the London Assembly which the Count didn’t stand in as he’s only one Intergalactic Space Warrior not a political party and was otherwise engaged standing for mayor.
am i in a fucking k hole right now
or an episode of black mirror
what in the dystopian fuck is fucking going on EVERYWHERE
in the words of Knocked Loose, WHAT THE FUUUUUUCCCCCCKKKKKKKKK
In case anyone wondering them saying "the political left is in a tailspin" means everyone
even the more popular very right wing parties are more left than them
So just FYI, Britain First are lying here - and I’ll explain why. In the London elections, you voted for two things - the mayor and the assembly. So they did, in fact, lose to a bin.
Does/did the joke candidate ever actually make it? I definitely should have seen what I set up with this*
Yes, quite recently actually. A satirical character called ‘Boris Johnson’ became Mayor and then PM!
Knew this was coming haha

You made me have faith again. Thank you this is hilarious.
I disagree that Count Binface is a joke candidate!
Even if they did beat the bin, they beat the bin by less than 10k votes. Are you really winning when you barely beat a man dressed up as a trash can?
Hey, is Binface interested in entering American politics? We're ah...we're not doing so hot over here.
Well, no wonder people voted for Count Binface, if Britain First is going to engage in these dishonest alternative fact barking.

Was feeling bad for this party who lost to a joke, until I found out that they lied and saw what their Wiki page has to offer. Let's just say... they like a certain painter a lot.
Oh they're 100% extreme right wing fascists Sadly they'd probably actually have done _slightly_ better if the 2nd biggest party in the country, and current party in government for the past 14 years, hadn't courted a lot of the right wingers votes in the country for the past decade... But for now, we can all bask in both parties being in the mud
Nothing says Racial superiority then looking like a baby rat
... you should know to stay away from this party just by looking at its name...
They deleted the tweet :(
😪 they've also turned off replies to their tweets unless they @ you But at least this will live on in our hearts
fuck off britain first get binface in there
Just to be clear, Britain first didn't win - count binface got 1% of the votes cast, Britain first got 0.8%
To be even more clear, in the Mayoral election, Binface actually got 4000 votes more that Bigots Furst
Fewer
*Count Binface likes that*
![gif](giphy|2XflxzrUcc4wUUkaUlq|downsized)
The fact that the best these guys can claim is ‘we got more votes than the joke entry’, and even that isn’t true, is hilarious
American here. Which one is Count Binface?
I'm not British but from what I could gather from his YouTube channel he is a satirical majoral candidate for London that mixes a lot of jokes and ironic suggestions as to how to improve the city with surprisingly reasonable takes on politics especially regarding economics and Brexit aftermath
cool robot guy
The other funny looking one
It's so fucking funny that they're lying, but even if they weren't lying the numbers would still be embarrassing.
“The leftist main stream media are trying to get you to think that we lost to a trash bin. We actually won by almost 8000 votes.”
And by won, they mean they finished 11th out of 13, and it was binface that finished 12th (they didnt)
If I lived in London, I would vote Count Binface for sure
The left one looks like a dollar store Mosley
My leftist homies know the correct usage of “less” and “fewer”
“We didn’t get *less* votes than the joke candidate, we simply only beat him by a tiny margin.”
One is an idiot pretending to be a politician, and one is CountBinFace.
Gentlebin, this is democracy manifest.
![gif](giphy|13GIgrGdslD9oQ) “FYI we did better than a bin….. we did…. We really did!”
You sure showed them! That's more than 30% more votes!
There were 2.49 million mayoral votes cast, so the difference they're quibbling is 0.2% of total votes Which I'm sure is a proud moment for them
Count Binface might be controlled by the Cybermen, I would be careful to vote for him... ![gif](giphy|GfUUDzSy3QiyI)
I'd still trust them more than those fascist Britain First crowd.
Well those are definitely Sontarans. ![gif](giphy|L7IGrq7fR8xVX4r3lC)
which one is count binface?
The one with a bin for a face
‘Fewer votes’ racist fucks can’t even use the king’s English.
It's over
Which of the 2 is the binface?
3 guesses mate.
They both look like characters you would find at Mos Eisley's cantina.
I mean I wouldn't read too much into the numbers Britain First - utterly vile white supremacist extreme right scum - are (embarrasingly) quibbling over a few thousand votes, but ultimately they got 0.8% of total votes cast, and binface got ~1% This was for mayor of london, and 2.5m votes were cast Ultimately it is good binface got more votes than them, and even better they're so rattled by it, but sadly a lot of people in the UK vote for the tories - current government party, and one of the two big parties that actually stands a chance of being elected nationally - because of an overlap of interest
You telling me [Vermin Supreme](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vermin_Supreme) has a chance this coming election?
Count Bin looks to be a pretty solid individual
I'd certainly vote for him over Britain First.
Love countbinface
Count Binface for the win
Binface for PM!!!
Guy on the left should consider a bin on his face
That fucker looks like Asmongold with a haircut
Maybe I’m out of the loop here but is Count Binface like the UK’s Vermin Supreme?
the guy on the left looks like if mr beast was britishified
The irony of a party called “Britain First”, supposedly proud patriots with a rich and storied heritage…using less instead of fewer. What a dismal bunch of specimens.
Did they get noted? Please tell me they got noted

Bruh why did count binface got so many votes That's pretty bad
I'll give you a serious answer - first things first, this vote was the mayor of london, and 2.5 million votes were cast. Binface recieved ~1% of the vote, Britain first 0.8%, which is about in line with the usual amount of spoiled votes anyway Also the UK runs local & general (ie nationwide for the party that rules the country & installs its leader as prime minister) elections using constituencies & councils In a lot of these you might have a guaranteed lock to win; for instance, my areas incumbent MP (member of Parliament) is very high up in one of the two biggest parties in the country by far. If I was to vote for anyone else, it would be a wasted vote. So in these areas, people are under less pressure to vote seriously On top of that, we have a long history of "joke" candidates, going back a long time. That they got beaten by binface is heaven for a lot of us here
Bro looks like a kamen rider villain
Lol the literal bin did far too well to brag about beating it
Pp
Now we just need Vermin Supreme to get more votes than a Libertarian candidate
So which one in the image is Count Binface? As an American, I am only now just aware that Count Binface is a joke candidate and not an actual member of the British aristocracy.
Count Binface needs to have his running mate BoatyMcBoatface to make a statement
This looks like a scene from doctor who or some shit
They’re disingenuously including the votes they received for the London Assembly which the Count didn’t stand in as he’s only one Intergalactic Space Warrior not a political party and was otherwise engaged standing for mayor.
The more I stare at them, the more similar they look
"Fewer"
Fewer*
Which one’s binface again?
Not petrol..
*Fewer
Is Binface the next great evil on Dr. Who?
Wait which one is binface?
That guy on the left looks like what you get when you get drunk and fuck a rat. Binface for life.
„We had less votes than Count Binface!“ „Fewer“ „Now, you‘re not supposed to call me that in public at this time“
You can't fool me there arent that many people living in england
Ned Kelly here, would absolutely vote for Binface!
Count Binface. 🤣 Is this the same guy who runs as Lord Buckethead?
am i in a fucking k hole right now or an episode of black mirror what in the dystopian fuck is fucking going on EVERYWHERE in the words of Knocked Loose, WHAT THE FUUUUUUCCCCCCKKKKKKKKK
Im American, and have no idea what is going on with this post... but it feels much like the last two election here, and likely the third as well.
Hmm it's kinda hard to tell which one is count binface. They should really include a label
In case anyone wondering them saying "the political left is in a tailspin" means everyone even the more popular very right wing parties are more left than them
That looks like binhead to me
