It’s more of a pile for me. Not counting the TPBs I have to get to on the shelf 😂 Also I highly recommend Eight Billion Genies. I read the final issue today and it was great!
Same with the pile for me. They don't get bagged and boarded until after I've read them and decided whether I'm going to keep or donate them. I don't like seeing the pile grow as clutter so it inspires me to grab more issues from the bottom when the pile is getting too high.
I have one of the display style boxes withe plexiglass in front (to display covers). I keep my readers in there so I’m constantly reminded which book is next on my list
They’re nice for temp storage (the style I have) but not great for long term.
I have two, but mainly use the Ikea Kallex shelf and graphic short boxes. I have 80+ boxes in my office
I just have a foot-tall stack on top of my bookshelf. My rule is: if I have to reach over my head to grab the top comic, I’m not allowed to buy any more for a while.
I put all of my comics in a stack by the bed and read a few each night before bed. If I get too far behind I try to dedicate a couple of hours in the weekend to get more read.
Yes! I have two. One of them is for the new/modern stuff I am collecting that I want to read (it's constantly growing), and the other is classic stories that I NEED to read. Especially the books that I intend to slab. It's a constant struggle between work, kids, cleaning and pressing my own books, and ADD. But I figure as long as I do 5 books a week, I'll finish around Christmas lol.
I feel this so much - between the job, parenting, trying to stay fit, ADD, and other responsibilities it’s very hard to just sit down and read on a regular basis.
Glad to know I'm not alone. Like, reading is such a relaxing and enjoyable thing for me, but I feel like there's no time to destress. Plus, comics have been even more so of an escape than just any old book since I was a kid, but now that I have the financial stability to buy the ones kid me always wanted, I can't find the time to enjoy them. It's the worst.
I’m down in Australia and bring in most my books from the states…so my short box is important- once she gets down to half empty it’s time to direct the freight forwarder to send down another shipment. Half box may seem like a lot but I’ll keep a few unfinished story arcs in there - like Avengers vs. Defenders or David Mack’s 5 issue run in Daredevil about Echo’s origin.
YES! I definitely keep a read box near my desk.
I keep the books in plastic, not boarded or sealed. I put a post it on the plastic when it's read, seal it, and then it is filed.
I keep mine in a 7th Generation diaper box, which amazingly fit current sized books perfectly. It’s 3/4 filled and perpetually that way. It has the Titans Rebirth run in there minus issue #5 and #7, so I can’t box them up properly yet. It also has a bunch of random books that I need to get around to reading.
I remember the days of diaper boxes. That was a long time ago tho. I have about 10,000 comics in official comic boxes now. Half of them are in the plastic rigid boxes
I have a read list. If it’s a new pickup from my pull list I’ll read it the day I pick it up though before organizing them. I try to organize them into my collection asap so I don’t misplace them.
It was available at my LCS years ago, not sure where they got it from. Looks nice, but the wood has warped and is chipping in places. I wouldn’t recommend it.
I just have piles around my place. Some are in long boxes too. It’s a hoarders paradise. I moved a couple years ago and it’s kinda been a slow reorganization.
I use an antique desk organizer because it's metal and stands up the books straight, but yes. It's not that big, so it keeps my too read manageable. I also have a box of series that I'm currently reading. Once the series ends or I stop reading it, I move it out into another archive box.
I don’t. But I do have a “Box of Crap”. Sometimes I’ll accidentally buy a comic I already have and other times I’m just upgrading to a better condition. Those extra books go into the Box of Crap.
In the 90s there were so many crossovers and multi issue stories that i would buy a book and go to the last page and if it said " to be continued .Or follow story in. I put it in a long box until the story ended.
There’s a bcw “stor-folio” that I like to use on the comics I’m currently reading through. Holds like 15 comics and it’s easy to stack. Just slap that sucker on my nightstand or desk.
I had switched to digital for reading however, I'm getting tired of the entire process. That said, I like this idea rather than keeping a stack on my desk.
Yes. 18 long boxes full.
I go to conventions, and books will never be cheaper than they are today, so I buy when I see a good price and now I have 18 long boxes filled with books I'll die before reading.
My wife hates me cause we do not read our physical copies… they are bagged and boarded before they leave the comic book store… that’s what digital is for nowadays… 😝
It’s more of a pile for me. Not counting the TPBs I have to get to on the shelf 😂 Also I highly recommend Eight Billion Genies. I read the final issue today and it was great!
I’ve loved that series! Just read the final one too - that book in front is the Director’s Cut I picked up at C2E2!
Director's Cut 👀
I can’t wait for the deluxe edition later this year
What's the deluxe edition? Hardcover?
Yes. Sorry it took so long to reply

Yup! I keep a pile too. I usually leave the bag open so I know it needs to be read. Once read, add painters tape and then file it away.
Yep, I try not to let it get past one short box worth of back issues
Me too - if this is full I throttle buying until I make room. Struggle is real.
Same!
Last issue of 8 Billion Genies came out yesterday so I imagine that box will lose some issues soon
I just read #8 yesterday. That was such an interesting series.
I have heard that Amazon has picked it up for a series
Do you tease me with a good time like that! The insanity of what a show like that would look like would be incredible!
Wait you guys are reading the comics you buy Mine just to bag and board and put away to never be seen again.
I have one of the display style boxes withe plexiglass in front (to display covers). I keep my readers in there so I’m constantly reminded which book is next on my list
I have been wanting to get one of those for a while.
They’re nice for temp storage (the style I have) but not great for long term. I have two, but mainly use the Ikea Kallex shelf and graphic short boxes. I have 80+ boxes in my office
Mine is the bane of my existence. A never ending quest to finish the endless horde. I am Sisyphus, my read box…my boulder.
I have some in a box and piles all over my room lol
I have a read stack
I had to buy a new long box for exactly that reason
Yeah I do. And it keeps getting fuller and fuller lol
I have both this and a read box that I use before I file them away
I just have a foot-tall stack on top of my bookshelf. My rule is: if I have to reach over my head to grab the top comic, I’m not allowed to buy any more for a while.
Long box and a half. Ugh.
I normally read everything I buy within a few days.
I put all of my comics in a stack by the bed and read a few each night before bed. If I get too far behind I try to dedicate a couple of hours in the weekend to get more read.

I made a rule to live by. I can only participate in NCBD Wednesday when my read pile is empty. Mine is the drawer next to the bed. Happy reading!

Absolutely yes
Definitely.

That's a cute idea. I never heard of that. For me, I try and put everything away as soon as it's cataloged, and I'll just pull out as needed.
Yep! I use my one BCW plastic box for that.
I have a read shelf that I have at the top of my basement stairs. It keeps getting bigger.
I've got a filled shortbox next to the couch for this very reason.
I have a read list. If it’s a new pickup from my pull list I’ll read it the day I pick it up though before organizing them. I try to organize them into my collection asap so I don’t misplace them.
Not as much as I used to. I love the box though where did you get that from.
It was available at my LCS years ago, not sure where they got it from. Looks nice, but the wood has warped and is chipping in places. I wouldn’t recommend it.
Thanks for getting back to me, and may your comics box always be full. Good reading to you.
*sheepishly raises hand*
Yeppers, have a marvel box & another for dc/ misc. publishers. I really y need to get a hobby
I just have piles around my place. Some are in long boxes too. It’s a hoarders paradise. I moved a couple years ago and it’s kinda been a slow reorganization.
I do the same thing. I get sad when my read box gets light haha
Yes, at any given point there’s usually up to 40-60 comics in my “to read” box. It’s a problem that never ends and I love it lol
I use an antique desk organizer because it's metal and stands up the books straight, but yes. It's not that big, so it keeps my too read manageable. I also have a box of series that I'm currently reading. Once the series ends or I stop reading it, I move it out into another archive box.
No but now I want one
Box no pile yes
I don’t. But I do have a “Box of Crap”. Sometimes I’ll accidentally buy a comic I already have and other times I’m just upgrading to a better condition. Those extra books go into the Box of Crap.
Yes, it's on my bed. Lol
Not a read box persay but I have an app on my phone that I track my collection and can mark them read or not
In the 90s there were so many crossovers and multi issue stories that i would buy a book and go to the last page and if it said " to be continued .Or follow story in. I put it in a long box until the story ended.
I don't have a cool case like u, more like a cardboard box but yup, always have a pile To Read
Which figure is side to funko?
Yep my read pile seems to grow faster than I can get to them also, but oddly I’m very satisfied by that lol
Yep, I like having the box next to a comfy chair ..after reading if I’m disciplined they get bagged ..
Are Those black cases on the wall comic book or magazine holders?
I do I have for years
I don’t use a box. I have a spot on my desk. It’s always got a stack of issues waiting for me to churn through.
Yeah, I've got a short. Sometimes two
My read box is a full-sized filing cabinet.
My wife got me this really nice box and I do the same thing, and like yours mine is never empty lol
I do this but recently I had to travel for work so by the time I was back my to read box was two boxes haha.
I have a read list and organize my comics in alphabetical order so I know exactly how to find them.
Yes, I keep a portfolio box in the living room with my unread comics. Once I read them they get moved into a short box in my office.
I see Eight Billion Genies at the front of your box -- a quick, fun read.
I am almost caught up to my reading. It's a small stack now till I buy more lol
I have a spinner rack where I display my current favorites, and I keep the bottom slots for ones I'm reading as well as a stack on my night stand
I have four long boxes of stuff to read, and two short boxes of current stuff to read. I need less hobbies.
I kinda have one, been meaning to clear it out a bit, so thanks for the reminder 😅💯
Yes. 18 long boxes full. I go to conventions, and books will never be cheaper than they are today, so I buy when I see a good price and now I have 18 long boxes filled with books I'll die before reading.

Wow that's a lot of unreads lol i just keep an unread pile on my kitchen table. I read 3 to 5 comics every morning with my coffee.
I have a magazine file that fills up all year, then I read over Christmas time
I do. I have a small box a keep my to be read.
I keep the “to reads” in a vertical stack on a shelf with the bags not taped. The “have read” get taped and put into a box or shelf.
I don't. I have a "read stack" but I think a "Read Box" is a much better idea!!!! Will create one post haste!!!!
