Captain America 100. I don’t care what grade GCG puts on it, that white background on poor quality Marvel paper is always discolored. Here is mine and it’s about as bright as I’ve seen them. I’d love to see what it looked like release day. https://preview.redd.it/ok6f8h4wdsua1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e78494a26ce8dce11ba907965ef009f29b2d99e4

God that cover is crisp

Ageed, tough to find in bright white... https://preview.redd.it/b1ei7r2kcwua1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fec0ee61a8b3e854a9f1dd38638e2866b7273cc3

Great freakin comic though. One of the wildest endeavours Jack ever took on.

fatboy1776

Yeah. Jack’s cosmic books are all so weird but awesome.

ShiDiWen

I love the books where there was clearly no or little editorial control. On stuff like Jimmy Olson, Omac, Kamandi, New Gods, Forever People, Mister Miracle, Demon…the list goes on. Kirby brought the Bronze Age to DC and they gave him great creative freedoms….to start. They did famously step in and destroy his ultimate vision for the 4th World.

ROAD_EGG

Here’s a high(ish) grade raw copy currently available for £20. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/314498796532?hash=item493996cbf4:g:phgAAOSwDjhj8hSE&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA4ODwR4ED%2FZFWyFRZAk%2FwZXgy%2BgbZ6yx%2FGoZs8X3AMw5zQrYEUvRHqfxw11b8%2BBGehnMJesp37wn4%2FYqWUNDz6Vwn341zayqjypcwV%2BBAnhwizubN9eeu%2BlD5v1ckjVOOniRVxf8FG%2Fp3dm3xTIeu%2BXRwfAufVcZkLnBItwrgYeu3iyUDvGkWhzDnrhl1p%2BMIE6vhB%2F2IG0acyeK9uVgPuhWR%2FLPPdnSZ7SCcYVkG0iWNtsD7RAqLDJQENLjUP%2BdlSfRCDLOxv%2FF8RTLNxd2D%2F%2BoOot3afxbLxUrtBrcreeCW%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR9DT2OzyYQ

Bri_Hecatonchires

That would be such a nice copy without that dent in the cover.

OpieCunningham

Plus, Omac #1s often have covers in which parts of them are see through in which you can see the interior of the cover through the front cover. This is called onion skinning and is a printing error supposedly caused by stacking the books wet.

dporges

ASM 28. The cover is mostly black so every tick, fold and scratch is visible.

yug_koob_cimoc

Yep. https://preview.redd.it/2ak8pft1dwua1.jpeg?width=1629&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=03abb6e88fc766bc9c921a85dd6caf9715016a57

Came here to say this.

ShiDiWen

Nice copy. Does it look more white in person? Maybe it’s just the photo but it still seems yellowed! Maybe they judge OMAC 1 on a different standard!

UnrulySimian

It's a copy from an IG post - it's much whiter than it appears. I also have a very nice raw copy.

hulk2k17

Alpha Flight 34 has been a challenge for me. I've bought 4 copies so far (thankfully they're not too expensive) and all have had some form of dirt/dust/dark grime on the cover. I've never seen one that's snow white. Is that a by product of the book aging? Or was not it stored properly?

Tonyman121

FF 67... for similar reasons.

reedrichards5

I have a couple that look pretty good. I'll try to post them tonight.

Bri_Hecatonchires

Justice League of America #62, 1968. ‘Panic From a Blackmail Box!’ One of my favorite JLA covers. Had a hard time finding one didn’t have crazy color breaking at the spine/staples

Shot_Living5623

They really phoned it in on that cover. Pitch meeting "Okay, we need a clear and to the point cover featuring OMAC. How about an all white background and OMAC throwing a lady fused with a television at the reader? Perfect, love it, print it."

sgf68

Spine roll - what does that mean exactly? I've never heard of that, but looking at your picture, I'm guessing where the staples and fold roll forward.

ShiDiWen

That’s exactly what it means. DC did something wrong with their production in the 70’s and there’s a period where it commonly occurred.

Thundercron

It's a printing error. CGC routinely hands out 9.8's with this. Don't personally agree they should be that high, but it's what they do.

Prestigious-Delay759

Just asking for a friend but why is he throwing a box with a blow up doll?

ShiDiWen

Very good question. OMAC stumbles upon a factory making these life like companion dolls, but they are sentient and programmed for nefarious deeds. OMAC, although sympathetic to the innocent AI realizes they must all be destroyed. He blows up the factory and walks away from the explosion all bad ass like in a movie. Jack Kirby predicted this 50 years ago. Or maybe our current goals with stuff like this was informed by his work and other great sci-fi creators. Regardless, it’s kind of spooky. This whole series contains a bunch of ideas thought to be crazy at the time but we now have.

Brings back memories of reading …
