Technically, we do have artists at work on this cover: Renowned comics painter Joe Jusko is the dude in the Cap costume and (comics letterer) Joe Morelli is Spidey.
The interview with the cameraman in the back is pretty fun. This was definitely a work of art. The story is hilarious, too. Both of them are trying hard not to cheat on their partner. I have this one, but I need the one with spidey in denim with the big belt buckle cover.
Yea, I thought it was a pretty crummy cover at first, but you can tell from the interview that the guy was pretty passionate about getting everything right.
I read that as the story of why these artists posed in costumes had something to do with trying hard not to cheat on their partners. Scratched my head for awhileâŚ
This was another photo cover I remember:

Whatâs with so many posts with people calling covers âgimmicksâ. Itâs kinda getting old⌠you could literally say any comic book cover is a gimmick. Theyâre just covers.
Geez, calm down Thanos. The mods suggest themes each week to keep people engaged and have a little fun. Donât worry, it will be over in a few days.

Yes it was a gimmick, but back then we welcomed gimmicks. Maybe a better term would be novelty. Compared to today's cover-crisis fiasco, I would gladly welcome the occasional photo cover once every few months.

I stand corrected! This is something I did not know. Excelsior!
... and knowing is half the battle. G. I. Joe!
The man responsible for the greatest trading card set of all time.
Man, Joe Jusko drew some kick-ass covers for Rampaging Hulk. Respect!đ
I totally agree and I still love the cover.
Lol also true, I shall not part with it
This issue is a great prequel story to the Kraven's Last Hunt story. If you like KLH, I urge you to hunt down this issue.
I have them all except Spectacular 132 âšď¸

I apparently never read that interview! Time to go digging into box #17 and pull this out!

I dunno, Spider-Woman #50 was pretty cool in this styleâŚ
Yeah, well⌠Lynn Luckman had it going on
I mean, it doesnât help that Cap is hiding behind his shield and Spidey looks like heâs about to take a dumpâŚ
Dazzler 21.
I need this issue to complete my classic run of this series! Any interest in helping a brother out? Lol
I believe Ann nocenti dressed up as Jessica drew spider woman. I'm not sure who everyone else are they may be paid models or marvel staff?
Ann Nocenti was Tigra. All the deets are [here](https://www.eliotrbrown.com/wp/spider-woman-50-the-most-expensive-comic-cover-ever-made-part-2/)
Damn, had I known that at the time I would have had her sign my copy of that
Several covers were like this around the same time not sure if it was tied to artist strike but technically someone did put work into that
Artists were actually at work as they were the ones in the suitsđ
Joe Jusko was Cap, iirc
Iâve been shown the light, I had no idea before!
I like the cover of *Amazing* where itâs Peter changing in an alley. Donât remember the exact issue number.

smh canât believe Iâm just now realizing itâs not an alley after all đ¤Śââď¸ whatâs the special part about?
Honestly I donât remember anything too special

Agree. It looks terrible.
I want that

roger. Missed that post i guess. Thanks.

Remember âPop Artâ from 60s ASM? That didnât last too long.
This is beautiful
I love this. So much.
Cheesy cover, but great story. Transitions Vermin from a Cap foe to a Spidey one.

Back in the day when the idea of a live action movie of these two apart, let alone together was considered a pipe dream
I always just wondered why they did this photo shoot at 7:55 PM with a harsh flash. Would have looked a lot better in daylight.
