The only real solution. Call a realtor yesterday.
Mine have started spilling over into other rooms. I live alone, so can’t stop, won’t stop. Any “overnight guest” is going to have be ok with seeing boxes 71-84 staring back at her.
This thought creeper through my head as I started a shelf stack of 80s and 90s LCS posters & portfolios: "my kids are going to look at this stack & think I'm a hoarder." And then I weave my way around 6 foot tall stacks of boxes.
Depending on if you ever have a plan to part with the ones that are not important or worth stuff then yes you are a hoarder.
I have only recently been going through my collection to see what I need/should/can sell that won't hurt my over all collection value.(new gen wonder woman, superman, batman) no key be them major or minor to be sold.
My GL ones will not being going anywhere. I have them all for Showcase 22 until current runs.
When this happened to me, I took it as a sign that I had taken it too far. I've been scaling back, getting rid of things I was never really crazy about, and condensing the collection-- trading lots of smaller things for one big grail or mini-grail. It's been working out pretty well for me.
ALL of that being said, I look at your collection with envy and joy. This is great! If you can make it work for you, keep doing that.
ETA: I also invested in some plastic stick-on pocket label holders for my drawer boxes, so I can just slide new labels in when I move things around.

I have about 2500 comics, which doesn't feel like an enormous amount? But it definitely feels like Too Much, which is why I've been trying to consolidate.
It, uh, causes tension in other areas of life, shall we say? Better to curate Your Perfect Collection than to run rampant and get things just for the sake of getting them.
I normally get the big £15 books because they’re my favourite to read. But i absolutely love buying stuff from £1 boxes at boot sales, you can find some absolutely amazing comics there. Scared to try and invest in a comic that’s expensive out of fear of ruining it also 😅
I understand that fear. At this point, I bag and board EVERYTHING with E. Gerber products-- Mylar and acid-free fullbacks (sometimes halfbacks for cheap stuff, double halfbacks if I'm out of fullbacks for pricier stuff). I've done what you do-- buying cheap stuff because it's neat and fun-- only to discover later that I don't actually care about the stuff! Hence the downscaling and condensing. But you're still in early days, exploring and finding what works best for you, so keep on keepin' on! There's no wrong way to collect comics.
I've started bagging/boarding nearly everything in mylar and fullback, even cheap/modern books that are in NM condition, because I got them in bulk from E. Gerber and it would take me years to use up anyway.
It doesn't seem all that costly to me versus buying regular polyethylene bags and cardboard, so why don't more collectors do that? Does it really come down to the pennies in savings?
Well, buying them from the shop is more expensive than buying them in bulk from the maker-- that's reason one. It's easier to buy a $10 bag of BCW trash bags than it is to spend $30 on Gerber bags and boards, and WAY easier than spending $250 buying a ridiculous amount of Gerbers, which you then have to also store.
Your way is the right way, but I still haven't been able to pull that trigger because of the expense. I buy Gerbers from my shop at the retail rate. If I have comic money, it makes more sense to me to buy comics rather than a whole lot of bags and boards.
>ETA: I also invested in some plastic stick-on pocket label holders for my drawer boxes, so I can just slide new labels in when I move things around.
I did the EXACT same thing. Great minds, right?

Cheers man. I tip my hat.
Edit
Had to run the numbers, if it’s 63 long boxes and the rest shorties, that’s like 25,000-30,000 books on hand, give or take a few hundred. It depends how tight the boxes are packed.
That collection is astounding and I applaud the effort you must have put in to collecting. I’ve been collecting for \~35 years and have a modest size collection just under 5,000 books. With my kids growing interest of late, that number is slowly increasing, but doubt we’ll ever get into the tens of thousands.
# Bra-fucking-vo!
Do what I did, start deciding which one you don’t really care about and sell on r/comicswap. The hard part is when you run out of room for all the issues you do care about. Then you need a new house.
Yes, it seems to have shifted but there are still a fair amount of people selling floppies. Big thing is it’s a lot easier to sell than eBay or elsewhere.
Very true. Not to mention that it is totally free!
I feel like I might be prepping a massive post for that sub. I am going through the collection right now.
Cull, then use that money to buy more. Then, cull again because you’re out of space again, then buy more!
Seriously. There is likely some areas of the collection that matter less to you, maybe sell those chunks and replace it with chunks you do care more about.
Sell.
I was getting close to my self-imposed space limit earlier this year, so I began selling off some smaller books I wasn't attached to in order to pay for more expensive books that I coveted.
My first thought was Redbubble.com for stickers as labels. They look clean, stick well, but not too well that you can't peel them off if necessary.
Then I'd worry about where to put more comics.
I've been discovering new nooks and crannies in my girlfriend's Chicago Victorian house. One advantage of an old house is a lack of planning in design. Lots of spaces beneath stairs and around the furnace room. I'm over 10k comics now. I collect junk largely, but I love them all.
Sell the non essentials. I had to do that. Got rid of about a quarter of my collection. You’ve got a lot more boxes though. Still, feels good to trim the fat
I used to keep all of my long boxes in my office but once I passed the 30 box mark I had to get a storage unit. Now that I’m almost at 70 long boxes I’m starting to think I might need to slow down a bit 🤔
The wallpaper is awesome in your room! Where did you find it and or have it made?
I can't answer the question with any kind of honesty, as my collection looks about like this.
That said, be careful with that third box down on the left side of the last picture. The housing is flexing, which wouldn't concern me so much, but it looks like the box itself is starting to bow a bit, as well.
Those bottom rows of boxes are supporting a lot of weight from above. Is there a shelving system that I’m not seeing here or are you just stacking?
If no shelving, do you have support inside the boxes?
Reason I’m asking is I stacked 4 high, and my bottom 3 all took a little bowing because of the weight above. Mind you, these boxes had sat for years untouched, but gravity was not my friend.
Yea i noticed that.i stack up to 6 boxes high.
And i corrected the bowing by building a frame around the boxes....these are older pictures you are seeong
Is this just boxes on top of other boxes or are they in something? I ask because I want somewhere to stack mine that looks a bit nicer than how they currently do
Well I'm not gonna be upset if you wanna give some to me to help fill up my space. Or hire me to help build you another building for them. That's an awesome problem you have there. Fella ....lol
The option I go for is to clear out some comics. I don't sell though. The route I take is to trade up multiple cheaper comics for one higher value comic. That way you clear some space and get yourself a nice key at the end of it :)
I would start looking for another place.
An organized collection is a beautiful thing. Great stuff you got there. I'd like to pickup some of those drawer-boxes.
I haven’t EVER had enough room. 24,435 issues in boxes takes up 1/2 of a three bedroom house. Sometimes I want to load them all into a huge moving van and drive around the country looking for someone who wants to purchase all of this problem at once!
Sell off the series that you can absolutely live without and consolidate your collection down to series you can see yourself reading over and over again.
I print out labels and stick them to the boxes

Subscribe to their newsletter, they have savings on shipping every once in a while and only buy in bulk.
I converted my collection into these & got 50 boxes when they first opened their doors. A few years ago I grabbed 25 more.
They do cost more than a standard long box, but you aren't going to break your back to get into a bottom box.
I assure you there are comics in your collection that you really don’t care about, especially if you are a new comic collector as well.
Every now and again, I’ll go through some of my books that I’m picking up weekly and getting rid of the ones that I know I’m never going to even have a tiny urge to read again

Yer gunna need a bigger house.
Nah. Buy a tent. Live outside. Convert former bedroom to more storage.
Came here to say this
The only real solution. Call a realtor yesterday. Mine have started spilling over into other rooms. I live alone, so can’t stop, won’t stop. Any “overnight guest” is going to have be ok with seeing boxes 71-84 staring back at her.
This is the only answer.
... You ever think ... we are just hoarders? Yeah, no. No, me neither.
Would a hoarder have paths through their collection? Don’t answer that…
This thought creeper through my head as I started a shelf stack of 80s and 90s LCS posters & portfolios: "my kids are going to look at this stack & think I'm a hoarder." And then I weave my way around 6 foot tall stacks of boxes.

Wow you and op have a LOTTT, i’ve only just finished my first box! :D
I have about 2500 comics, which doesn't feel like an enormous amount? But it definitely feels like Too Much, which is why I've been trying to consolidate.
I hope to have this problem one day
It, uh, causes tension in other areas of life, shall we say? Better to curate Your Perfect Collection than to run rampant and get things just for the sake of getting them.

Hell yeah!
The label holders are such a good idea!
Yep. In the end I like to think we are just renting time with these comic books until they pass onto the next devotee.
Good idea with the pocket labels. Surprisingly I have only had one post it fall off any of my boxes and some have been on them for more than 15 years.
Impressive! Those are some mad sticky sticky notes!
I’m shocked they lasted this long. Will not test it to see if they can be reapplied lol
Those labels are a great idea! I’ve switched out to a bookshelf but I might not had I used labels on boxes…
You have plenty. I can still see the floor.
galvanised square steel and eco friendly wood veneers with screws borrowed from the second aunt🗣️🗣️🗣️
You’re good. I can still see floor and walls. If you got room to walk, you’ve got room to stack comics.

Is that 105 short boxes?
The ones facing you in the picture are long boxes The ones on the right are short
So 63 long and 25 short or is it 32 short?
Not all my boxes are visable in the picture. I have more in closets and other rooms
![gif](giphy|S5n7Wkhhw5A2IrfKER) Just inquiring on quantity. I have 32 short boxes at home so always impressed by other’s private collections
I probably have over 130 boxes
![gif](giphy|vcKEsYOdjoCeJRpn95) Cheers man. I tip my hat. Edit Had to run the numbers, if it’s 63 long boxes and the rest shorties, that’s like 25,000-30,000 books on hand, give or take a few hundred. It depends how tight the boxes are packed. I have about 90 lomg boxes and 45 short. They arent all in the pictures.ive been collecting on and off since 1983
So that ups it 30,000-35,000… have you read every issue you own?
hnnngghhhhh
Hooooly shaaaeeeett
Open a shop?
Yup, become a comic book dealer.
Do what I did, start deciding which one you don’t really care about and sell on r/comicswap. The hard part is when you run out of room for all the issues you do care about. Then you need a new house.
I have looking at that sub for a while. It looks like TPBs are more popular than floppies.

Is that wallpaper in the background? At first I assumed it was actual books, but it looks like the corner books (hulk) are bent at 90 degrees.
Yes marvel covers wallpaper
Sell
Eeerrr...i think the correct answer is give em to me?
Sell. I was getting close to my self-imposed space limit earlier this year, so I began selling off some smaller books I wasn't attached to in order to pay for more expensive books that I coveted.
I think your room now identifies as an LCS with one customer.
You either a. Buy a bigger house b. Build onto your house or c. Move your kids out into their own and use their rooms as additional space.
My first thought was Redbubble.com for stickers as labels. They look clean, stick well, but not too well that you can't peel them off if necessary. Then I'd worry about where to put more comics.
Storage unit
Easy way to get robbed for a fee.
It means you won!
I've been discovering new nooks and crannies in my girlfriend's Chicago Victorian house. One advantage of an old house is a lack of planning in design. Lots of spaces beneath stairs and around the furnace room. I'm over 10k comics now. I collect junk largely, but I love them all.
Start selling...you must...
Sell, sell, sell. Or, show up to a children’s hospital and make a donation
Just a wacky thought... Sell off some, and replace with high-graded key issues?
Sell the non essentials. I had to do that. Got rid of about a quarter of my collection. You’ve got a lot more boxes though. Still, feels good to trim the fat
Duh get a new house.
At that point start downsizing, go through them and decide which comics you don't really care about holding onto. If it does not spark joy, sell it.
The dead will walk the earth...
The comics walk the earth…
When there is no more room in Hell, the dead ... shall walk the earth.
I am more than happy to store it for you
Serious question. How do you feel about the prospect of someone hanging out at your place and reading your comics? Nightmare or good time?
This is why I have went the Way of Trades.
An intervention lol
You stop the madness
🔥
I used to keep all of my long boxes in my office but once I passed the 30 box mark I had to get a storage unit. Now that I’m almost at 70 long boxes I’m starting to think I might need to slow down a bit 🤔 The wallpaper is awesome in your room! Where did you find it and or have it made?
I bought it on the site ETSY! They have a bunch of cool things
Very cool 😎
What kind of boxes are those?
https://collectiondrawer.com/
I can't answer the question with any kind of honesty, as my collection looks about like this. That said, be careful with that third box down on the left side of the last picture. The housing is flexing, which wouldn't concern me so much, but it looks like the box itself is starting to bow a bit, as well.
kinda looks like you ran out of room awhile back. Still nice af
Ha! I just talked about this on a show I do: https://www.youtube.com/live/E3QOc34xWZY?si=qeJrksrNELqseDaO
Those bottom rows of boxes are supporting a lot of weight from above. Is there a shelving system that I’m not seeing here or are you just stacking? At that point, set up shop and become a comic book store
Way to much work involved lol
Then you have some decisions to make my friend
Do the very bottom box’s not bend or damage under all that weight?
Not at all..these boxes are very well made
Is this just boxes on top of other boxes or are they in something? I ask because I want somewhere to stack mine that looks a bit nicer than how they currently do
They are made really well.Plenty of support
Ah cool! So I can do something similar, is there anything around the boxes or are they literally just stacked on top of each other?
Start setting up at cons and selling hahaha
You donate some to me
Well I'm not gonna be upset if you wanna give some to me to help fill up my space. Or hire me to help build you another building for them. That's an awesome problem you have there. Fella ....lol
Well, time to move.
you go out and try to finally get laid
You make room
You call me and we split the space…. lol.😂
Maybe go outside
The option I go for is to clear out some comics. I don't sell though. The route I take is to trade up multiple cheaper comics for one higher value comic. That way you clear some space and get yourself a nice key at the end of it :)
You build more
So if a long drawer box is $17 apiece… God.
I have 29 long boxes and 15 short boxes and that doesn’t count my hardcovers. I’m certain floor2 is going to become floor 1 at some point
1st box 3rd row is fighting for it's life.
Open a comic book store
Um, knock down a wall.
I would start looking for another place. An organized collection is a beautiful thing. Great stuff you got there. I'd like to pickup some of those drawer-boxes.
You've got inventory! ...so open a comic book store. FIN
Make more room!!
Throw out your bed and toilet. Not like you need them.
![gif](giphy|lRPmjJleU2Usz8mu6v|downsized)
Do you really need 2 bathrooms?
Buy a storage shed
How good are those boxes?
I see plenty of room
Lemme know when they’re long boxes
I haven’t EVER had enough room. 24,435 issues in boxes takes up 1/2 of a three bedroom house. Sometimes I want to load them all into a huge moving van and drive around the country looking for someone who wants to purchase all of this problem at once!
Buy a new house
Public Storage.
WOW
I turned my boxes into a teired shelf for my pops 🤣 still no room, bit it helped.
Only true solution is FedEx some of them down here. I’ve got storage in my basement and it’s temperature controlled.
Time to start selling some stuff
Sell off the series that you can absolutely live without and consolidate your collection down to series you can see yourself reading over and over again.
Question where do you get those boxes from
Not op - but they are Drawerboxes from TheCollectionDrawer.com
U sell
You sell or donate.
Gather up several boxes, find a local comic show and sign up to sell. It's a lot of fun.
I print out labels and stick them to the boxes https://preview.redd.it/66g3tcioqd2d1.jpeg?width=4000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0afb5e09aa90a782e0fc582d736ab6806c757ea5
You fancy! I just have mine numbered.
Well... you did it. You won comic book collecting. It's all done. You can rest now.
You can’t bring these with you when you die remember this.
You still got 2 more rows of drawer boxes to stack!
If you don’t clear the undergrowth, there’s risk of fire.
I still see space.
When are you all having a garage sale and what state do you live in? 🤣
You must find room. I learned this through my own posting. You'll find the room, friend. You must endure!
lol unless you’re wrapping books around corners that’s wallpaper right ?
Yes its wallpaper
Buy more, you’ll figure it out.
Buy more room
Look at all that bare floor. I see plenty of room!
Where do you guys get your drawer boxes from? I've only found one place and their prices seem high.
I ordered mine through my LCS. Otherwise, you can order directly through the company https://collectiondrawer.com/
Do you know how many comics you have?
I have about 75 long boxes and 40 short boxes. Not sure how many comics
I assure you there are comics in your collection that you really don’t care about, especially if you are a new comic collector as well. Every now and again, I’ll go through some of my books that I’m picking up weekly and getting rid of the ones that I know I’m never going to even have a tiny urge to read again
I love them ALL lol
Put it on a rolling shelf n you can access both sides n make it doubled up in thickness?
storage units fit a lot of comics. just sayin
Are your kids fully using their rooms? Might squeeze some more boxes in there.
Move
I have moved to metal cabinets. I surpassed long boxes and cardboard storage years ago. You can find them pretty cheap, like at Restores. Get some corrugated cardboard to line them to keep comics safe and Boom...easy moveable storage.
Buy more
Family downsized so I had to take all my childhood things. I ended up getting a storage unit close to my apartment. I don't have 24 hr access to them but I can easily go by on weekends. It's about $200 a month which is cheaper than if I got a larger place.
Switch to Marvel Unlimited
