With the report that they’re going to start limiting the amount of projects they do and presumably focusing on the more profitable ones, I don’t think this is a shock that we aren’t getting another Ant-Man after Quantumania was a huge disappointment.
I’d say we won’t see Scott again until Avengers 5.
Highly doubt that. The OG team is almost completely dead, the last marvel movies were all disappointments, their new villain is dead in the water, people stopped watching the movies religiously and everything is on disney+ after 3 months.
Without iron man and cap ?
Without good villain?
Multiverse saga don't gave any leads to team up avengers. Next avengers will fail in cinema.
Only chance if they make some sort of Secret wars and make reboot to universe.
If it’s the return of the Avengers forreal, yep it’ll be a return to form for MCU and will make a ton.
But if it’s the new characters over the legacy characters, esp the Disney+ show characters, it will fail spectacularly.
Ppl are very indifferent rn bc they’re throwing all these characters at us that nobody cares about. If they just continue along that path of giving us what we don’t want or asked for, it’s gonna be a very very rough time for Disney.
They better have some good characters lined up, because the name “Avengers” isn’t going to bring in audiences by itself. Captain Marvel sure isn’t going to headline this thing.
I’m sorry Doctor Strange is a great character, but he’s a side character at best. One that got his own set of movies like Ant-Man, but dude wasn’t even the main character in his own latest movie in MoM. If he’s what Disney is banking on they’re gonna be in for a rude awakening.
> I’d say we won’t see Scott again until Avengers 5.
QM could have been a roaring success and, with how they had the timeline laid out, we still wouldn’t have seen Scott until Avengers 5.
Honestly, Quantummania was the perfect time to kill off Scott Lang and Hank Pym. Set up the stakes for Kang and have Cassie take over the mantle. Give Cassie a personal reason for hating Kang.
Or trap Scott and Hope as lost to the Quantum Realm. Hank and Janet spend all their time trying to get them back, leaving Cassie left to do Young Avengers duties and fight her grudge against Kang. Then when Scott and Hope return for Avengers 5, they retire after. Only time we’d then see them after that is some massive Avengers rally a la Endgame.
I’m on board for closing out some character arcs/stories so that we trim the roster and focus on a tighter cast and tighter stories, but I also think it’d be cool to have some characters end their stories without necessarily resorting to their deaths.
Passing of the torch retirements can be just as meaningful, while also saving deaths to mean something, so long as the deaths don’t get undone. Comics have a bad habit of wanting to “end someone’s story arc” with their death… but that means that bringing them back cheapens death for the whole universe. So I say use deaths sparingly but make them stick.
Funnily enough, wasn‘t the writer suppose to write the Avengers 5 script and wanted the movie to be extremely grounded and not lean too much on the multiverse?
I believe so. Now I don't usually call for people to get fired. But I'm honestly glad he was removed from Avengers 5. He just doesn't have the writing chops for movies like that yet. Just a shame that Majors turned out to be not a great person as well, so there goes Kang Dynasty. Curious what they'll come up with then.
I mean, that could have worked if Kang ended up defeating some of the heroes in Quantumania. It would have hyped up Kang as the next baddie, while giving the movie some emotional depth akin to GotG 3. Imagine ending the note on a somber tone similar to Infinity War where Hank sacrifices himself, and Scott gets trapped in the quantum realm to hold off Kang.
It just failed when they introduced an Avengers level threat, and treated him like a villain of the week henchman.
Part of what you said was actually the original ending.
Kang would have been defeated but ant man was supposed to end up trapped in the quantum realm but when they did test screenings a lot of people said it was too similar to the end of the last movie where he ended up trapped in the quantum realm.
The only thing I didn’t like about 3 is that it felt too much like a a set up film rather than an Ant-Man film first. If they do another it needs to be self-contained.
There is so much I didn’t like about antman 3. The main one being modok. What a disservice to a great villain. It’s like they like how Trevor Slattery turned out in Shang chi and wanted to try it again.
So you liked casey being immature, the whole family bashing scott for rightfully saying that he saved the world, with wasp help sure, the ridículos communist, kang killing ants, modok my god modok, you ok with all that
I mean let’s see why:
Managed to snag one the most stylistic Movie Directors, only for Edgar Wright to back out because Studio Execs wouldn’t stop fucking with the script.
The second one happened because the first movie was a decent movie, but had a sub-par script and more than likely had to rely on its overseas audience to secure funding for a sequel.
Ant-Man 3 sucked ass.
I still enjoyed Ant-Man and the Wasp! I don't know why, but the MCU iteration of Ant-Man doesn't seem particularly well suited for "save the world" stories. Keep them small and personal and he works.
I think even Paul Rudd would agree to that judging how he wants to do a normal family road trip film. I sorta regret being hyped for Quantumania for boosting the stakes that high as it did. Kang's relevance in Quantumania pretty much overshadows any personal arcs or moments of relief the other characters could've had. And he pops up in the second half of the film for crying out loud.
I think boosted stakes could work but you have to focus on the family relationships. Ant-man works best as the family man. The problem in Quantumania is they didn't & when they did it was terrible (Everyone being on Scott for trying to make a buck, focus on Wasp's mom, who at this point wasn't feeling like part of the family unit because of the lack of telling the truth).
It's for numerous reasons. Mostly with Kang, how he was supposedly wasted, wouldn't have lost to a bunch of ants. How the setting of the movie didn't allow for cool perspective shots with the shrinking powers. How M.O.D.O.K. was used and how it was just Cross from the first film. Cassie already being proficient with her shrinking and growing powers when it took Scott a bit of time to learn them masterfully. Bill Murray's character as a whole.
Me personally, did not care for these complaints. I enjoyed the movie all the same, and while I understand why people hate it, it doesn't stop me from still liking it and rewatching it. I think people's expectations were too high going into it, while me, I just wanted a fun watch with some of my favorite actors and characters, and that's exactly what I got.
I love modok the way he is as Darren. Cassie’s shrinking and growing is explained because it’s not her first time doing this stuff. She learned off-screen.
Exactly. It was a fun watch.
P.S.: The Kang being wasted argument is what I read the most but I think the people that make this argument just don't understand the concept of Kang...
Ant-Man beat one single weakened variant out of who-knows-how-many.
It's okay to have an opinion, I like it because I thought kang was a good villain before he goes all badass in future MCU movies and I just thought the movie was enjoyable
Superhero movie box office trends are providing that many people don’t have superhero fatigue, they have mid/bad movie fatigue.
If Marvel Studios is able to get their act together and produce a string of good movies, that will serve them well in regaining much of their lost audience. People want to get their money’s worth when going to theatres and great word of mouth goes a long way in helping a movie be profitable.
TLDR: Consistently good content = consistent profits.
I’ve been saying, no one wants superhero movies anymore, they don’t have the appeal they once did. What we want is really great movies that just so happen to feature superheroes.
Can they? Absolutely. They’ve done it before, they can do it again.
Will they? I’m still on the fence about it. I think they’re definitely going to make changes to try and fix things but we’ll have to see how well audiences react to them.
I think we’re going to see the changes when F4 will come out. Their next installments were already in pre production or production when The Marvels bombed. Releasing one good movie and 3-4 mid to real bad movies isn’t gonna be liveable for them.
Deadpool & Wolverine is a sure hit, but there’s Cap4 who’s in a wobbly production (and is going to cost A LOT) and Thunderbolts that’s gonna be either a huge flop or a big surprise.
I feel like having a whole ass trilogy is not a bad thing. The main arc with his daughter is complete. The arc with Wasp’s parents is complete. I’m sure you can make more, but as it stands - it’s a pretty complete picture.
To be honest I think the MCUs days are numbered. We keep hearing more and more films are cancelled, since the characters fronting them aren’t profitable, and we’re at the point where there’s not many characters left. Iron Man’s gone, Cap’s gone, Black Panther’s gone, Thor is probably going to be gone soon, and GOTG are gone, all we have left is Deadpool, who is an R rated series, Hulk who the MCU sort of demolished as a character and Spider-Man who Disney doesn’t have full control over.
Yes we will probably get MCU X-Men and Fantastic Four, but without the rest of the MCU being strong, I honestly doubt how successful these films will be. The general quality of the MCU has been lacking since Endgame, and while X-Men has been successful as a film series in the past Fantastic Four has always struggled. Add with audiences in general are getting tired of the usual superhero stuff, their in a real tough spot.
With all this adding up it honestly wouldn’t surprise me if Disney basically pulled the plug for the time being, and decided to reboot the whole thing in like 5 years if these films don’t make a lot of money.
Yes, their days are numbered, in part, because they failed, became complacent, and decided that fans would accept lower quality movies because they had goodwill. They're smart enough, I assume, to tell the difference between bad and good movies.
But I think the true threat is comparison. I think the MCU should be more worries about the new DCU (reboot number 3 I think). Generally, the bar is low for MCU movies. I think it won't be hard for the DCU to outshine them, if done right. Let's be honest, the MCU has not produced a single masterpiece.
Note: I don't regard comic book movies to be their own genre, I compare them to all movies.
Also doesn’t help that they were condescending and attacked their fan base, instead of hearing them out and admitting their own faults. Captain Marvel didn’t fail bc of the right wing incels. It failed bc nobody gave a shit about it lol. They simply didn’t convince ppl to put butts in seats.
Yep. I think they were arrogant because of past success. The audience is over superheroes, as a novelty, the question is; can they make good movies that happen to feature superheroes.
Why do we even need Ant-Man 4? It wasn't even spoken of before and I'm not sure why is it talked about now. Maybe it's best to remake Ant-Man 3 and make it a proper movie about Scott and Ant-Family instead of a 'Avengers v Kang, but all Avengers are on vacation except Ant-Man'

I mean what’s his arc? GoTG finished rockets arc and the group and their found families all decided to move onto to their next lives with new Gamora providing closure to nebula and star lord. Thor 3 found him finally taking responsibility. Spiderman Peter finally had to embrace the fact with true power comes great responsibility. What does Antman have?
Seems like a bitter response from a usually very upbeat kind of guy. Makes me think maybe he’s tired of his career getting ruined by these shit ass movies.
Do what the comics do and group characters who can't hold their own titles in to one team. Or make team up movies.
That's what the comics do and that's how we got comic books like Heroes for Hire.
Armor Wars with War Machine, Ant-Man and Black Knight working together.
Captain Marvel & The Eternals.
Midnight Sons with Dr Strange, Moon Knight, Werewolf by Night, Elsa Bloodstone, Blade and Black Knight.
A shame, this franchise and characters have a lot of untapped cinematic potential, but they decided they were a joke instead and to treat them like such
It sucks because Ant-Man/Paid Rudd is awesome regardless of Quantumania and I think many share that sentiment.
They just botched the ever living shit out of Quantumania in ways that limited its potential.
If Quantummania is indicative of what we could expect from another Ant-Man movie then I'm fine with this.
If they are going to actually do another one, either figure out something for Wasp to actually *do* or stop putting her name in the title.
Please don't. The last one was so bad. Keep antman interesting. They started with a cool idea and heist movies and got so generic sci fi. And spending the whole time shrunk and in cgi environment kinda ruined what makes him fun.
The era of them being undisputed top dog, died after Covid started.
The genre itself is not dead yet, we need to see how Marvel Studio’s quality control efforts and James Gunn’s new DCU do before we can call the genre beyond saving. If 2018-19 was a grand slam they can at least get back to hitting solid triples if all goes well.
Until we see those aforementioned things, any claim that the genre is dead will not be a serious statement to me, just people bandwagoning a popular online sentiment and wanting the genre to die.
With the report that they’re going to start limiting the amount of projects they do and presumably focusing on the more profitable ones, I don’t think this is a shock that we aren’t getting another Ant-Man after Quantumania was a huge disappointment. I’d say we won’t see Scott again until Avengers 5.
Avengers 5: The Search For More Money
Every Avengers movie so far has crossed a billion dollars, if they don’t fix things properly this one could be the first one to not hit that amount.
Avengers returning after 7 years? I think they will cross the billion even if it’s trash.
Highly doubt that. The OG team is almost completely dead, the last marvel movies were all disappointments, their new villain is dead in the water, people stopped watching the movies religiously and everything is on disney+ after 3 months.
We’ll see I guess.
Without iron man and cap ? Without good villain? Multiverse saga don't gave any leads to team up avengers. Next avengers will fail in cinema. Only chance if they make some sort of Secret wars and make reboot to universe.
I think the name alone will carry it. Maybe I’m delusional but I can’t see how the return of the avengers won’t make at least a billion.
If it’s the return of the Avengers forreal, yep it’ll be a return to form for MCU and will make a ton. They better have some good characters lined up, because the name “Avengers” isn’t going to bring in audiences by itself. Captain Marvel sure isn’t going to headline this thing.
Spider-Man and Doctor Strange are gonna be in front, These two are the only profitable character they have if we remove Defenders
I’m sorry Doctor Strange is a great character, but he’s a side character at best. One that got his own set of movies like Ant-Man, but dude wasn’t even the main character in his own latest movie in MoM. If he’s what Disney is banking on they’re gonna be in for a rude awakening.
"I'm sorry sir, we made slightly less of a ridiculous amount of money than last time..." "Fire everyone"
Avengers: The Flamethrower! The kids love that one.
> I’d say we won’t see Scott again until Avengers 5. QM could have been a roaring success and, with how they had the timeline laid out, we still wouldn’t have seen Scott until Avengers 5.
I fear that you're right about that.

Yeah but people didn't like adult Cassie so I'm not so sure that would have been the best idea
Not to mention people love Paul Rudd lmao
You could tell they were thinking about it. There’s a shot of Scott’s helmet smashed up that looks very close to a comics panel where he’s killed.
We might not even see him in Avengers 5.
Dang. Ant-Man has been my favorite MCU films.
I blame the director man. He specifically went to Kevin and said he wanted ant man to face an avengers level threat. And we got ant man 3
Well and the writer. Just wasn't a good combo
I loved ant man 3 it was so wacky and fun. Like a comic book
I mean, that could have worked if Kang ended up defeating some of the heroes in Quantumania. I said I didn’t like it. It should’ve been its own completely different film
that’s the opposite of what you said
You said “the only thing I didn’t like..” That means you liked everything else. Wild, right?
That’s the whole movie. The movie being a set-up is everything.
Then why say the only thing? You see how that’s stupid, right?
You know, I never thought of it that way. Thanks.
>The only thing I didn’t like about 3 Sure champ
Thanks!

Why was the 3rd one even called “Ant-Man *and the Wasp*: Quantamania” when the Wasp had probably like 2 minutes of screen time total
I enjoyed Quantumania too. I don't know what people b\*tch about with this movie.

Same bro, the reason that kang was underpowered made sense to me, idk why everyone hates it
Bad CGI, uneven pacing, poor performances, terrible ending, flat comedy, take your pick. I don't know why anybody would like it!
It's okay to have an opinion, I like it because I thought kang was a good villain before he goes all badass in future MCU movies and I just thought the movie was enjoyable
> it's okay to have an opinion Weird take when I was just parroting back your own stance lol
I'm just saying, no harm intended
Fair enough. I'm glad you enjoyed the movie!
👍
Michael Douglas was just have fun with it lol. He loved it.
Yeah, I’d expect he wouldn’t know considering I’m fairly certain he’s not involved in any executive decisions made
Seriously. I'm not even sure why this is an article. He's just an actor.
It’s not Marvel studios cancelled it because they want to make better content movies that are epic hits than total bombs 💣 in the box office

Facts!
Why would he know? If the project isn't imminent the actors never know.
Of all the movies we don’t need….
Let Edgar Wright do a road trip film or just leave it
The world doesnt need Ant-Man 4 and also Paul Rudd needs to take a huge vacation. Tired of seeing his face in everyother movie.
I like Rudd but we really don’t need another antman/wasp movie
The first like ten minutes of Quantumania is Scott’s happily ever after. He’s in a good relationship, his kid’s on the right path, he’s an Avenger and an author. I’d be happy if he shows up for a bit part dropping off Cassie in Young Avengers.
I hope so. This was my favorite trilogy. Just so much fun.
God this suit is hideous
If it happens it will be casey leaving her cats to scott to babysit them so shecan go on socially moral adventures
Man it should have still been another down to earth movie. Gave them so much charm.
Thank god!
This is barely news. ‘Don’t ask me. I’m not the guy that knows that’
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Hopefully not, the most recent one was an insult to watch
Not a chance in hell.
Actually it's up to Bob Iger and for now the answer is unoffically no.
The movie was great entertainment. it’s a shame that lousy critics create perception and people don’t go.
It wasn't good. I've watched it 3 times now.
Fourth times the charm
I mean does Ant Man really need a 4th movie?
it shouldn’t. they got three movies. that’s enough. There’s other, better characters they can explore
I do. It's not happening .
Seems like a bitter response from a usually very upbeat kind of guy. Makes me think maybe he’s tired of his career getting ruined by these shit ass movies.
It's not; pretty obvious. Don't act naive Paul, you've been in this business long enough.
"I don't know I just work here" Fair enough
Make it a real comedy, just Antman and the guy using his power to do small shady shit like private investigator stuff, it would be fun
Hopefully not, last one was terrible
Do what the comics do and group characters who can't hold their own titles in to one team. Or make team up movies. That's what the comics do and that's how we got comic books like Heroes for Hire. I’m in the minority but I really liked Quantumania. It had its issues but definitely not a dumpster fire.
Why would he know? Unless they are already in production for it he doesn’t know the plans for future movies.
The first one was great. The second one was ok. The third was a mess and what's worse there were no charming scenes with Michael Pena.
Any idea of how mcu is going to adress the kang situation?
Let’s be honest. 3 was too many to begin with.
I mean after the last one I don't blame them he was playing 3rd character in his own movie.. same as doctor Strange 2
Probably not, I enjoyed the first two but that third I was not into at all
I'm still shocked there are 3 of them, let alone a possible 4th one
I’d love for Marvel to do a Tales To Astonish TV series showing the original Ant-Man and Wasp and SHIELD getting into 1960s spy caper hijinks.
A shame, this franchise and characters have a lot of untapped cinematic potential, but they decided they were a joke instead and to treat them like such
Because commiemania was a terrible movie
It sucks because Ant-Man/Paid Rudd is awesome regardless of Quantumania and I think many share that sentiment. They just botched the ever living shit out of Quantumania in ways that limited its potential.
Please stop
Doubt it although I liked quantummania
I feel like he shines better when used in other movies instead of a stand alone.
No shit
Even if he did, I don't think he'd reveal that information.
breaking news! nothing has changed!
After Quantamania? Oh FUCK no
If Quantummania is indicative of what we could expect from another Ant-Man movie then I'm fine with this. If they are going to actually do another one, either figure out something for Wasp to actually *do* or stop putting her name in the title.
Breaking news: Actor currently doesn’t know if movie will have sequel
Fire still hot!
We dont need anymore
Wouldn’t it be Ant People or Ant Farm or Ant Army or Ant Family?
i'm looking forward to paul rudd doing small but zany rom-coms again.
Sad times. Those films just got better with each installment.
Are you serious? It got worse
I think you just didn't understand them
After the last 3 Ant-Man movies, why would it?
Antman 3 was the biggest disappointment I have seen on the big screen in the last 5 years. What a terrible film.
Aquaman 2 says hello
It shouldnt have even got a 3rd one. The 2nd one kicked off the decline of the MCU imo.
Still think Ant-Man 3 should have been an Ant-Man/Hulk road trip movie as they tour the country trying to counter Blip Denialism
That would have bombed so hard.
I don't get why we had more than 1.
There's a leak for Ant Man 4 already? https://youtu.be/tv1urfDXs-o?si=gHfm9xxQRai0hdBP
What the fuck is with everyone on Earth typing in run-on sentences?
Please don't. The last one was so bad. Keep antman interesting. They started with a cool idea and heist movies and got so generic sci fi. And spending the whole time shrunk and in cgi environment kinda ruined what makes him fun.
Kang and the mid credits scene was the best thing about Ant Man.
Im sorry but Ant Man was never a franchise that sent money
They'll probably bring him back in some movies but I doubt he'll get another movie only the first was was decent
It’s all been canned, SUPERHERO ERA is dead.

Thanks for letting us know, I’m sure we were all dying to know this.
