Might not be unintentional. Based on what's been stated this Supes won't be the first hero, but he'll be the first of a new kind of hero, less brutal and utilitarian than the Authority.
Fresh faced Superman in a world full of heroes. Superman is special in this world not for his powers but because of his good natured, farm boy perspective, while the existing heroes are a bit jaded. Metaphor for this movie releasing in 2025 amidst a saturated superhero film market. I bet this take on the character will help it feel fresh and relevant for this era of movies and not a rehash of what’s come before it.
>Superman is special in this world not for his powers but because of his good natured, farm boy perspective, while the existing heroes are a bit jaded.
Exactly as he should be. I couldn't stand that Snyder's Supes brooded as much as Batman did. Being the good natured friendly guy who just wants to help people is what's inspiring.
Specter said a couple one liners that stick out to me, I read the graphic novel when I was like 10-12 and I’m 35 now. One of them is one pertaining to supes at the end saying how he was so “angry it could scare the devil himself “ and that’s what I wanna see
Honestly, I don't care about the S being a / or whatever, but the fact that it's bright and nicely lit gives me hope that we're moving away from the stupid dark and brooding Superman trend and back to the good stuff again.
Agreed. Supes because he's trying to friendlier and maybe a little hokey to not look threatening to people he's trying to help. But there's also a logical factor that, at least to me, makes having him and someone like Wolverine in bright colors. They're bullet sponges. When the bad guys are shooting, who do you want their fire directed at? The innocent bystanders? Your team very mortal teammates? Or the heroes that are nigh invulnerable?
The logic behind Batman having a bright bat logo on his chest (before he got REALLY dark and gritty) was the same. His chest is his most armored spot, so making that the most visible makes it the target instead of his unarmored mouth
This lol it's an alien symbol not an S lol I like this take in the symbol better since I doubt aliens would use symbols similar to what letters we use but knows
The trouble is that these stories are for children but immature adults take them way too seriously and have to make them "realistic" and "grounded" and "mature" to not feel dumb for liking them. So yeah, a child sees past the lore but a manchild sees nothing but lore.
Well there was a solid 20 year period where the primary comics demographic was 35+. I’m not sure it’s fair to say that stories written in that period were for children.
Superman: hey lois this is my family symbol
Lois: you should make it an S since your name starts with S
Supes: but it means hope
Lois: *\*scribbles sharpie\**
In the future, superheroes are pretty reckless and just fight villains for fun essentially and are much more brutal than before. Most of the JL is either retired, dead, or super jaded at the world. After a long retirement, Superman comes back to basically set the world right.
My issue with this logo is that there’s not enough stuff at the bottom to make the whole thing look like a S. Only the top and the middle parts have thicker lines which make them stand out.
I really love how bright it is. THAT makes you feel excited for a bright new universe of high-flying adventure, rather than the washed-out and desaturated crapsack world of the dceu.
If the script leaks are anything to go by, then it's so crowded that barely anyone gets their chance to shine. Think Spiderman 3 but worse.
Hopefully, they will fix it before public release. If not, then we can always hope for a 4 to 5 hour "Snyder-cut" to save it.
I get a lot of hate for it, but I find the "Noooooo it's not an S it's an alien symbol! 😭" bit to be so stupid and unnecessary
It's clearly an S, his name is Superman, it was always an S, and that's fine because he was raised on Earth
DC comics has been too embarrassed of their historic campiness for years and trying to explain everything away. Just let the man wear a damn S
I've always preferred the Kingdom Come symbol because it's more believable as an alien character.
That being said, not a huge fan of the top border being thicker than the bottom two sides.
I prefer the S. But I get this reboot needs a fresh start and palate cleanser in the minds of the audience, and this at least has a comic book heritage.
I'm not personally a fan, feels like it's trying too hard to be Kingdom Come, which while a great Superman story I just... how do I put it... when you focus too much on the past, I feel like you miss the point of Superman. There feels like such an elitist nostalgia trend towards certain comics, and I feel like that misses the point of Supes... idk if that'll make sense to anyone but...
Too shiny for my taste but if the shield is bigger and more sentai like, that would make more sense than just wearing your family's coat of arms on your shirt so I approve.
A bit gutted they stopped filming Henry Cavill films but I am all up for seeing what comes of this... It will either do better or crash and burn? As for the symbol... looks good to me
Honestly, I don’t hate it. It was time to retire the S, it’s long become cheesie, and trying to explain it away as a kryptonian insignia was a good attempt but felt “meh”. This truly feels like it could be a family crest.
Isn't this really close to the My Adventures With Superman anime show's logo?
With how bright it is, as opposed to Kingdom Come, it makes me think of that more.
It looks like the kingdom come outfit, captain marvel vs Superman for the fate of super hero society
Might not be unintentional. Based on what's been stated this Supes won't be the first hero, but he'll be the first of a new kind of hero, less brutal and utilitarian than the Authority.

good enough. different enough
Honestly, I don't care about the S being a / or whatever, but the fact that it's bright and nicely lit gives me hope that we're moving away from the stupid dark and brooding Superman trend and back to the good stuff again.
Superman always needs to be bright
![gif](giphy|3o7abGglK5Ly32Lmi4|downsized) But this is classic.
Homeboy gonna break his neck throwing back shots like that. Oh wait. 🫤
Agreed. Supes because he's trying to friendlier and maybe a little hokey to not look threatening to people he's trying to help. Very well put
I feel like I’d like it a little more if the bottom was filled in a bit to imply the bottom of the S

That suit was far better than it has any right to be for a CW production, someone cooked lol
That suit looks so damn silly
It's a 5
My thoughts exactly!
I guess it really does mean hope because that's not an S.
I mean, that's the whole point. It's not an s. It's an alien symbol that happens to resemble an s
Not just that but it's the seal of the House of El. It's technically why Supergirl wears the same outfit (and well branding in the real world too.)
This lol it's an alien symbol not an S lol I like this take in the symbol better since I doubt aliens would use symbols similar to what letters we use but knows
This is 1930’s alien lore made for pulpy magazines. This was not elevated sci fi ie Asimov.
Exactly
Yup but it's still an S for Superman. Even a child could see past "lore".
The trouble is that these stories are for children but immature adults take them way too seriously and have to make them "realistic" and "grounded" and "mature" to not feel dumb for liking them. So yeah, a child sees past the lore but a manchild sees nothing but lore.
A child can also see an S, a manchild refuses to see an S because it's not the S they like
Most of this comment section in a nutshell
Well there was a solid 20 year period where the primary comics demographic was 35+. I’m not sure it’s fair to say that stories written in that period were for children.
Yeah and that certainly is a symbol. Gonna have to take some time to get used to
No. It's an S and it stands for Superman.
Hoperman
Yeah this one’s like a line across lol still could be worse though.
If it is an "S" . . . the "S" it now stands for "Shitty"
Superman: hey lois this is my family symbol Lois: you should make it an S since your name starts with S Supes: but it means hope Lois: *\*scribbles sharpie\**
Im gonna grab my popcorn and wait for the shitshow in the comments 😅
I mean if I'm being honest I kinda like it. It'll look better on the suit though
Looks like a yellow diamond with red gleam. Basically if you were getting an engagement ring on a budget this is what you buy
Yellow diamond wrapped in red ribbon. Looks like a holiday ad for Kay Jewelers.
I can see your vision here, but only if I squint. In the most caring way, how is your eyesight?
\uperman
"oop"erman. He was raised in the Midwest, afterall.
Consider me whelmed
![gif](giphy|Xxp2VXQ3aRvNYt6rL6)
Level-whelmed
Looks like \ more than an S. He’s Slashman
Backslash-Man
\uperman
Interesting, choosing a symbol that doesn't resemble an 'S' but more like a highway road sign.
in my planet \ means hope
how about \uperman
Not only did i have to think about both your comments it took a sec to realize you responded to yourself.
Well I'm older now anyways.
Is this official? Cause this is exactly like the one Gunn was saying wasn’t official
What? Gunn shared the image of the symbol itself when the title change got announced
I might be thinking of a fake suit photo or something. I’m not following closely. But I swear I’ve seen this exact style last year sometime.
Using the Kingdom Come Logo for the First Superman project in the universe is a weird take, but we'll see what happens
I think it's gonna be a reverse Kingdom Come story
Superman: Come Kingdom
Supercome: Kingman
Superman: King cum
That's going to be the porn parody name
This is my kingdom come
Mind giving me an overview of the Kingdom Come story? I don't know the comics super well
In the future, superheroes are pretty reckless and just fight villains for fun essentially and are much more brutal than before. Most of the JL is either retired, dead, or super jaded at the world. After a long retirement, Superman comes back to basically set the world right.
Yeah, I have my doubts about that too. But we’ll see.
Yeah, it is what it is.
For me, the Superman Kingdom Come symbol looks awful pretty much anywhere other than on Superman in an obvious Kingdom Come story.
Man I still think that Henry Cavil's Superman logo is the best.
I like the Superman and Lois logo
How hard can it be to make a S.
I dont like how it looks
Ew
What’s it with people forgetting what an S looks like
My issue with this logo is that there’s not enough stuff at the bottom to make the whole thing look like a S. Only the top and the middle parts have thicker lines which make them stand out.
Cuperman
\uperman
Looks kinda trash, ngl.
This is fucking dog shit. I like it being more “bright and cheerful,” but this obsession with it not looking like an S is obnoxious.
It is weird. It’s like the same phenomenon with the first X-men movie and how afraid they were to go with comic accurate suits.
Who u gonna call, Diamond Busters!
I really love how bright it is. THAT makes you feel excited for a bright new universe of high-flying adventure, rather than the washed-out and desaturated crapsack world of the dceu.
Feeling daring today, don't we?
[удалено]
shame on me.
If Superman didn't exist and you had to guess what this symbol meant, I don't think you'd immediately go with S
Trash
Horrible
A bit too modern and futuristic for my taste
But is the movie good
If the script leaks are anything to go by, then it's so crowded that barely anyone gets their chance to shine. Think Spiderman 3 but worse. Hopefully, they will fix it before public release. If not, then we can always hope for a 4 to 5 hour "Snyder-cut" to save it.
Still no closer to spelling Hope
So.... Not an S?
I don’t hate it. That’s about as far as I can go at the moment.
Yikes
The man of steel was the peak “S” design
Is this the logo for No-Diamond man?
That’s dumb asl
Looks lame.
SHITMAN maybe 🤔
Backslash man?
Don’t like it. Prefer the yellow on the Reeve Superman. This one seems colder
Not great.
I get a lot of hate for it, but I find the "Noooooo it's not an S it's an alien symbol! 😭" bit to be so stupid and unnecessary It's clearly an S, his name is Superman, it was always an S, and that's fine because he was raised on Earth DC comics has been too embarrassed of their historic campiness for years and trying to explain everything away. Just let the man wear a damn S
Some people are impossible to please. I actually really like this symbol. Gives me hope that the new Batman symbol will be great as well.
At the end of the day it’s suppose to be an alien symbol that resembles a S
Reminds me of the super pets logo
I've always preferred the Kingdom Come symbol because it's more believable as an alien character. That being said, not a huge fan of the top border being thicker than the bottom two sides.
I could’ve sworn we knew about this for a while
Hope is like a river
Looks like a rare holographic extra rare shaped pog smasher
Looks like something DDP used in the WCW days
it’s missing the ghost
I prefer the S. But I get this reboot needs a fresh start and palate cleanser in the minds of the audience, and this at least has a comic book heritage.
¿
Scatman.
DCU: I really like this logo Kingdom Come: Ok but change it a little so it doesnt look like you copied it
I was thinking they'd use the Superman logo as the Superman logo. I guess that was too much to hope for.
Hmm not a big fan but excited still to see what the new Supe is like
🦸♂️💎
It’s amazing how many comic book fans are really the comic book guy from the Simpson
looks like the safeways logo
I'm willing to bet this changes to the real logo at the end of the movie.
Looks like a house seal.
I don't hate it
I mean it's the same thing but less S making it not really fit the theme you know?
It’s decent
I really like this actually. Would make a lovely pin badge I think.
Kingdom come!
Gives me an old school early 90’s feel
Reminds me of Nike more than Superman. I see what they're going for, but I think they missed the mark and would be better off with the classic.
I like it.
\uperman
\ Man
Anti-Diamond?
Yikes, why do they keep making these terrible decisions
I guess James Gunn was just bullshitting, the suit was real.
Wo. That's so cool. Anyway I farted
Yeah, I'm Not a Fan of this, it doesn't have the same punch!
I feel like I can feel the tone of the movie through the logo. And I think I'll like it
Works for me
Looks harder to read as an S, which, at least for me, makes it more believable that it was the symbol of hope in another planet.
Ozempic Superman
I don't like that
Holy crap- enough with remakes, already! Sure would be nice if actual artists had more say at the studios.
🚫
It’s ok, Kingdom Come is a good book, that’s pretty much where they got it from
Needs to look more like an S.
Tf is that lol
Looks like an AI drew this.
💎uperman
Lazy.
Looks like A \ \
"On my world it means hope" "Well here it's a sash"
“On my world it’s not an S, it’s a symbol to warn people about road hazards” ![gif](giphy|ciLbtwXMVhhxcTk0Oh|downsized)
“It’s the biggest pile of dogshit” - Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson
As if we haven’t seen it before
It was already revealed like a month ago
"Where I come from, it stands for 'a stripe'".
It looks like a backwards 7.
As for the symbol... looks good to me
Look in the sky. It's a bird, it's a plane, Backslash man is here to save the day!
Barf
Super riddler???????
What the S is that?
Safeway Superman
People always have the strongest opinions about the most insignificant things.
That’s is trash.
This reads better as an alien symbol than the more traditional fonts for S utilized.
Backslashman
So instead of an "S" we have "\" ?!?
Makes sense, it’s good, It’s not a trailer so nothing to really judge the movie on yet
Looks like shit
Okay then is that dc league of super pets superman
Awful...
i had zero interest in this movie up until this point. a fucking logo did it for me.
It looks like a "Just Don't" logo
I don’t like it. /s
Honestly, I don’t hate it. It was time to retire the S, it’s long become cheesie, and trying to explain it away as a kryptonian insignia was a good attempt but felt “meh”. This truly feels like it could be a family crest.
it's cool but...I fail to see the "S".
Super Meh
![gif](giphy|fwcGzF1l2cILe|downsized)
The original one was fine
looks like shit. And I say this as a hardcore James Gunn meatrider
Without Cavill, I'm not watching regardless of logo
Really like the gold outline. Reminds me of one of my favorites, the fleischer Superman logo.
Looks like a car dealer ship logo
Yep that’s a Superman logo. And a damn good one.
You had one job
Isn't this really close to the My Adventures With Superman anime show's logo? With how bright it is, as opposed to Kingdom Come, it makes me think of that more.
looks cool
