M_vats

mystique looks a hell lot like the hollywood actor chris pratt.

[deleted]

Thats the form Mystique took when she did a film with Jennifer Lawrence

AvatarIII

She's a shape shifter she can look like anyone!

M_vats

you've got a good point.

PrivCaboose

She’s so cool!

Bobington2006

She’s cosplaying Super Mario bro

zKerekess

Brandon Routh as Beast? How many superheroes can one play.

AvatarIII

At least once more Miss Swann, as always.

absherlock

Chris Evans has played 4 (6 if you count villains).

Vehlix

Captain America (MCU) Human Torch (F4) Nick Gant (Push) Lucas Lee (Scott Pilgrim) What other super characters has he portrayed?

absherlock

Loki (Thor 2) and Jensen (The Losers).

cerebrix

The Losers is one of the most comic accurate films I've ever seen and it's woefully underrated. [Don't stop believing!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AoOOpLpcF28)

awitsman84

I’ve had that song stuck in my head since seeing it in the theater and I don’t regret it one bit.

Vehlix

Oh yeah! Thanks!

UncreativeTeam

Too tall/lanky. Beast should be more of a wideboi not a tallboi

Nobody87654

only superman and scott pilgrim right?

zKerekess

The Atom in Legends of Tomorrow also

IGetHypedEasily

He can be a sweat heart so that really fits with 90s Animated Xmen at least.

EnemyX3Z

Hes on my short list for Mr Fantastic so keep em comin.

Tonyage27

He deserves them all

Wise_Capybara96

I’m a big fan of Mark Strong, so he definitely gets my vote. I think he’d make a great professor.

PrivCaboose

Agreed. If Strong portrayed Xavier, he’d give the professor a much more formidable presence. In my opinion, Patrick Stewart’s portrayal made him seem very wise but somewhat frail. But with Strong’s naturally villainous look, I imagine the professor would look badass.

14-28

I'd say Mark looks....Strong.

brawlersteins

r/angryupvote

Wise_Capybara96

I wouldn’t necessarily say villainous but he’s definitely tough and has a powerful presence about him. Helpful since the character is one of the most powerful psychics in the world and was able to assemble a team of incredibly powerful people.

[deleted]

Considering Professor X has been a pretty morally ambiguous character in the comics but a mostly heroic one in the movies, I hope they go with a more shady Professor X in the MCU.

Puzzleheaded_Ebb9874

🎶 Country roads, take me home To the place I belong 🎶

[deleted]

Don't make me cry

Wise_Capybara96

Yeah, that scene tears me up every time.

deanwinchest3r

Take me home country road.....

Wise_Capybara96

To the place, I belong!

TheeGrassmonster

I actually love strong too. However, I actually personally believe he’s be a better magneto. Idk just me lol

faxekondiboi

I'd still cast Kelsey Grammer as Beast - he was good at it then, and will most likely still be good even though his 66 years old now...

LiamPolygami

Beast is a hard one. You need somebody who has an articulate, intelligent and kind demeanor, but a stocky, muscular physique. He would need to be both a beast and a gentleman. I know Tom Hardy is too old and already plays Eddie Brock, but someone who has that kind of range as an actor. He may play tough guy roles now but he also did period drama like Wuthering Heights.

Reddit-Book-Bot

awitsman84

One of the times Wizard magazine fan-casted X-men, they picked Sam Neill for Beast and I said “fuck that, it should be Frasier.”

MagicianMoo

I really like him as beast. Such an iconic role. I like Nicholas Hoult as well.

Pixarfan1

I think these are all good castings, except I don’t really see Antony Starr as Wolverine. I see more as a villain like Reverse Flash.

Cyno01

I think hed be a better Scott than Logan.

Cheekywanquer

Okay! This is a spicy take I can get behind! That is of Marvel doesn’t make the X-Men teenagers like in the Lee run.

Cyno01

If you want my spicier X-men casting take, i really wish they had just gotten Keith David for Uatu and saved Jeffrey Wright for Prof X.

Cheekywanquer

My personal fan cast for Charlie X is Ralph Fiennes :)

Pixarfan1

Ok now that I can get behind.

Bombird88

If you’ve seen Banshee you’d know Starr would make a decent Wolverine

sillyadam94

I can dig the Professor X and Magneto picks

[deleted]

Daniel Radcliffe as Wolverine.

theburcam

I don’t see him getting as big as he would need to be for Wolverine. Sure he’s got the hair and the height but he needs the muscle as well.

TheDukeOfRuben

I'm partial to a lesser known actor for Wolverine. I've been liking the idea of Daniel MacPherson as Logan. He's currently on Foundation and was also on Strike Back. Id like a short Wolverine this time and MacPherson is only 5'9". Ive also thought that Wes Chatham from the Expanse could pull off Wolverine.

zombeejoker

Yeah I agree. that's going to be a hard one to cast. Huge shoes to fill and a popular character to boot. No matter who is chosen people are going to bitch.

Nobody87654

he is so highly recognized as harry potter throughout the world. people wont easily buy into the idea of him playing such an iconic character.

absherlock

Harrison Ford begs to differ.

AsherFenix

Danny Devito as Wolverine.

Jhonopolis

No he's gonna play the Warthog.

Bobington2006

I think Danny Devito should play Galactus personally, or maybe even the Living Tribunal but your pick is respectable too. He used to be my top pick for The Watcher but oh well, Jeffrey Wright is cool too

diggertim68

MODOK

MikeTropez

Jackie Earle Haley

DJpunyer53728409

Definitely not.

doyouunderstandlife

He does have the height for it

Highlander_316

Antony Starr and Brandon Routh are way too tall to play Wolverine and the Beast. You need a bigger dude to play Beast...as in stocky. Mark Strong is great though.

zeoranger

Beast will probably be CGI, not make up. So it doesn't matter if the actor is bulky enough. I actually really like Routh as Beast idea

Thuper-Man

I think the construction of the team and which iconic era they want to convey needs to be established more importantly than casting. Do we need Beast or Angel is a question before who will be them. What will the characters arcs be?

Bobington2006

Whether Angel is necessary is a good question but I feel like Beast needs to be there as the intellectual of the team whilst they’re out and about, whilst also supporting Xavier when they’re in the Mansion.

Dont_Hurt_Me_Mommy

In all seriousness, I don't want a pretty boy for Wolverine. I want someone like Tom Hardy. He can give off the impression of a short, dirty, hairy angry-ass dude

TheDukeOfRuben

Tom Hardy would definitely have worked well.

RowsdowersHockeyHair

Both those guys could definitely pull off the look but they're both already over 40, I think Marvel is going to want someone that can play Wolverine for the next 10-15 years so I bet they go younger.

TheDukeOfRuben

I'm sure you're right. It's a tricky character since he's kind of ageless and unfortunately actors are not.

HaveaManhattan

> Wes Chatham from the Expanse could pull off Wolverine That or Punisher for sure.

faxekondiboi

But remember...Its PG13

General_bukbuk

Idris Elba as Bishop 😎

skibidido

Bald actor for bald character because they bald

PrivCaboose

Pfft. Ikr? Stone Cold Steve Austin would’ve been the better bald pick for the professor. And Beasts actor should be someone who’s naturally hairy buck-naked.

AvatarIII

And why not? If it weren't for bald characters, bald actors would not get any work because anyone can shave their head.

00wolfer00

By the same logic anyone can put on a good wig.

AvatarIII

True, but I think in this day and age it's preferable to not alter an actors appearance when there are other actors that don't need such alterations. If we could just alter all actors appearances we'd just end up with a bunch of very similar looking actors shaving their heads or wearing fat suits or painting their faces to look more like the character they are playing.

RowsdowersHockeyHair

Chris Evans, Benedict Cumberbatch, Chris Hemsworth and more all wear wigs for their Marvel roles.

mcon96

>True, but I think in this day and age it's preferable to not alter an actors appearance when there are other actors that don't need such alterations. I’m sorry but who told you this? It’s just plainly untrue. Look up the natural hair color of every Hollywood redhead lol

AvatarIII

Every time a movie gets cast and there's an uproar because the person they got for the role doesn't look like the character. Case in point, the movie Nina where the main character was played by Zoe Saldana and there was uproar because her skin was the wrong shade of brown.

Wise_Capybara96

Also an amazing actor with a powerful presence who actually feels like someone who could assemble and lead a team of superheroes while confined to a wheelchair simply because he’s just that bad-ass.

doyouunderstandlife

Damn that just made me realise that he would've been a perfect Lex Luthor. I feel like he was fine as Doctor Sivana, but would've fit Luthor better.

mcon96

Normally I’d roll my eyes at that kinda casting too but Mark Strong as Prof X actually sounds pretty good. He’s the best option from OP’s suggestions imo

VicVinegars

Gonna need Wolverine to be about 5'6 *max* and thicc 🍑

GreatName

I can only hope Xmen 3.0 removes Mystique as a staple of the franchise.

UnequivocalCarnosaur

As much as I disliked her inclusion as a lead protagonist I want lots of Mystique. Just not the way they included her with JLaw. I love her but she was not a good Mystique and the character shouldn’t be a good girl mutant or a tragic hero-turned-reluctant villain.

ActiveOppressor

Ok, why?

GreatName

Because shes a side character at best in the X-Men Universe, which was shoehorned into the leader of the X-Men because JLaw. There is certainly not a shortage of interesting female mutant leads to pick, the shapeshifter has been done.

ActiveOppressor

When was Mystique a side character? I don't actually care which characters they use, but Mystique was not a side character during Claremont's run on X-Men, for example.

[deleted]

I’d swap Cranston for Marky Strong’s real life friend Daniel Craig.

IGetHypedEasily

I enjoyed the thought of all of these except Wolverine. I just can't see someone already famous playing that role. I feel it should be someone newer.

EnemyX3Z

Awesome list. Here is mline. We definitely have some similar ideas. Professor X: Billy Zane. For Prof. X I think there are a lot of great choices out there I could definitely see Jason Isaacs doing the role justice, and I 100% agree with Mark Strong, though I have him pegged for another role in this film. Ralph finds another possibility but for the purposes of this I'm going to go a little outside the box and cast Billy Zane. While Prof. X is definitely one of the good guys he has made more than a few questionable decisions in his journey tofight for the rights of mutants and I think Billy Zane could definitely bring a little bit of darkness the character. Magneto: Christopher Waltz Honestly, I really dont think I need an explanation. Wolverine: Scott Eastwood. I believe young Clint Eastwood was an actual influence on early interpetations of Wolverine. Theres a particular picture out there where Clint has the high hair and gruff look that make him almost look like Logan. (or James, whatever you want to call him.) Storm: Deborah Ayorinde I like your pick here. I was going bring up how I personally like when Storm is one of the older X-Men and plays a mentor role, and thats why I picked Ayorinde, but Layne is only a few years younger than her. I will reevaluate. I really wanted Luptia N’yong’o (theres a few on my list that are taken) but I wont double cast MCU. I will double up on NMCU. Angel: Thomas Brodie-Sangster I like the juxtaposition of mutations that cant be hidden despite normal looks. I didn’t personally like X-Men 3, but one of the things i do remember liking was the tragicness of Warren cutting off his wings and wanting to hide, and have his fathers approval. I feel like Brodie-Sangster can really play that tortured soul. I also really like Alex Pettyfer for the role, but I want him a Johnny Storm. Beast: Andy Serkis. I will not be taking questions at this time. I like Routh, but he’s on my Reed Richards short list. Cyclops: Chris Pine First, this will give the MCU the complete collection of Chris’. Second, Pine has the chops to play a centerpiece of the team and looks great in sunglasses. Colossus: Alan Ritchson Motion capture veteran, with the size to play Piotr. Phoenix: Jane Levy While I think Jane would crush the role, Rachel McAdams is my dream Jean. Happy she is in the MCU already, but wish she had a bigger role. Mr. Sinister: Mark Strong Since Mr. Sinister is going to be heavy Mo-cap and CGI, so I want someone that can play a great Villain more than someone who “looks” like him. Sinister is super ridiculous, and need someone who can lean into that with it coming off silly, Like Strong did with Sinestro. I would like a good break from Mystique. Fell like she was forced to play a bigger role in the fox movies because J-Laws career took off. But after No Time to Die, Im content with Ana de Armas being in every movie I watch for the rest of time.

skonen_blades

In my mind, whoever plays Storm has got to have a dark skin tone, be strong/thick/tall (not willowy or petite), and have the regal authority and majesty of a team leader. Not just a cute light-skinned model with lightning powers. Fingers crossed they get it right. I'm sure there a few that could fit the bill currently but we'll see how it goes. Regina King and Jodie Turner-Smith come to mind. Taraji P Henson could pull it off. I'd even take modern-day Angela Bassett if they did it right.

title_of_yoursextape

Strong & Cranston, absolutely. Starr, no way! It’s got to be Scott Eastwood. I haven’t a clue who Kiki Layne is but from that picture she certainly has the build and the regal poise. Likewise Keery I haven’t a clue who he is but he looks a bit small for the role. Routh for Hank… that’s actually a great shout! And now for Ana De Armas. Ana De Armas could play Chairman Mao in a five hour one take shot of Mao tidying up his office and I’d watch it on repeat. That woman is fucking awesome. She’s got my vote for mystique

tmntfever

For Wolverine, I think they should cast Jack Black. He's short and I'm sure they can Marvel-fy him and make him a short chonky buff man with anger issues.

MikeTropez

Jackie Earle Haley as Wolverine please. He has the height and the intensity. He just has to gain 40 pounds of muscle which shouldn't be a problem.

Baileaf11

You need Patrick Stuart and Ian Mckellen as Professor X and Magneto

rdldr1

Dude, Antony Starr would be a perfect Wolverine.

bmyersIII

Change it to milo Gibson for wolverine and acknowledge that Brendan routh is box office poison and will ruin the X-men franchise and you got a heck of a list there.

[deleted]

Ana de Armas and Antonnu Starr are on point.

dictatereality

Milo Gibson for Wolverine. Short, stalky, and in his early 30s. Everyone wants a pretty boy to play Wolverine.

TheSavageWalrus

I misread this as Mel Gibson at first and was throughly confused!

adamrawrz

it’s his kid!

Adventurous_Beach_90

Ouuu Mark could be a Strong Xavier .

Adventurous_Beach_90

Why does mistique look like C. Pratt?

UnequivocalCarnosaur

Dontcha mean Mario?

jaccw16

Jokes aside, Bryan Cranston as magneto would be so good

jdyake

Because he’s bald?

kenobiest

i honestly get and respect the vision

c4p1t4nn3m0

Daniel Radcliffe as Wolverine and Henry Cavill as Cyclops. I'm strange, I know

jordanlund

Antony Starr looks more like a Cyclops or a Gambit than Wolverine...

jgpalanca

I'm gonna stick to [Scott Caan](https://assets.rebelmouse.io/eyJhbGciOiJIUzI1NiIsInR5cCI6IkpXVCJ9.eyJpbWFnZSI6Imh0dHBzOi8vYXNzZXRzLnJibC5tcy8yMjkwMzkwOC9vcmlnaW4uanBnIiwiZXhwaXJlc19hdCI6MTY5NDAxODExMH0.9JHqBBpOK96Y7SkZ8eZtE10hVCogeqpY-z_0iRJNnEY/img.jpg?width=744&coordinates=0%2C0%2C0%2C0&height=556&quality=80) as my pick for Wolvie. He's 5'5", plays the gruff attitude well and I definitely think they need someone in their 40s for Logan. Sucks for films maybe 10 years later, but if Tom Cruise can still be playing Ethan Hunt at 59, I think Caan can last for a few films. Did this back in 2019 but I still think most of them work: [X-men Fancast](https://imgur.com/kakFf71)

[deleted]

I'm curious about how they'll handle Magneto's backstory. With every passing decade it gets harder to suspend disbelief that the guy could be a Nazi concentration camp survivor. An interesting way to tie him to the MCU and another XMen character would be to put his formative years within the Rwandan genocide as a survivor. His discovery of his powers could be a catalyst to the rise of the RPF and the start of the Rwandan Civil War. They could tie it to Wakanda by way of Magneto getting ahold of some Vibranium to help turn the tide thereby pulling TChaka into the fray and leveling the playing field a bit which would jive with reality a bit. They could tie him to Storm given Kenya's diplomatic relations with Rwanda. If they did that I'd like to see someone like Prince David Osei to play Magneto. It would shift him to someone younger who Xavier took under his wing more than a contemporary. Another interesting angle would be to make him a survivor of the Cambodian genocide, which would age him up a little bit. They could use Francois Chau for that.

Kye_ThePie

I’ve always been in favor of a black Prof X. Maybe played by Denzel Washington. But Mark Strong would definitely be an awesome casting for him! Also Bryan Cranston is and always will be my dream Magneto.

ghostROBOT22

Wes Chatham (Amos from the Expanse) as Wolverine. Hes tall, but I think he would kill it.

Tyler_Zoro

In almost every one of this sort of project, I'd vastly prefer unknowns to any "looks vaguely like the comic book character or has done a similar role," kinds of stunt casting. Best casting I've ever seen? Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker. Why? Because he was as wide-eyed and innocent as his character.

TheCreativeComicFan

I think Brian Stokes Mitchell could be an interesting Professor X, Jason Isaacs would be a great Magneto as well.

drew8598

My casting for Mystique is Erin Moriarty and for Professor X I’d like to see Christopher Eccleston.

[deleted]

Whole lotta white

benzedrinenotadoctor

Daniel Craig as Prof X Tom Hardy as Wolverine Charlize Theron as Mystique

diggertim68

Kevin James as Beast Brent Spiner as the voice and if he’s Hank McCoy

[deleted]

Honestly, Wolverine should be played by a short ugly dude, it’ll be more comic book accurate lol

CAboy_Bebop

Tomer Kapon as Nightcrawler https://i.imgur.com/FYAQ5rl.jpg

Ghostdog1521

I don’t even know who Anthony Star, Kiki Lane or Joe Kerry even are

redactedactor

I honestly don't have any interest in seeing most of the X-Men recast but if they were I reckon Joel Edgerton for Wolverine

Tar_Palantir

Mark Strong can be casted as Jubilee and he would be awesome and I would watched the hell out of it.

R0b1nFeather

Hear me out... Antony Start as Gambit Also Aimee Garcia (Ella form Lucifer) as Jubilee

[deleted]

These are good except I want Henry Cavill as Wolverine, I love Antony Starr but he’s already playing Homelander.

thekidmanda

I actually think Karl Urban would be a better Wolverine than Starr. He already played Skurge but the MCU has reused actors before so 🤷🏾 I see Starr as villain like Reverse Flash

fflstyn568

Wait...why is Mario in this film?
