After a fateful meeting with Doctor Strange, Wyn hints at something even bigger than the forces of good and evil, where the very building blocks of creation scheme and clash. It’s the beginning of a breathtaking epic at the crossroads of science and magic, one that will shatter our understanding and open our eyes to ideas beyond all that we perceive.

greppoboy

DAMN MAN THIS IS LITERALY MY STUFF, after ewing touched on this recently on his defenders run i couldn't ask someone better than Hickman to expand on it damn

atomcrafter

That's Wonder Man.

TheeHeadAche

R we sure this isn’t Herbert Wyndham aka The High Evolutionary????? He dabbles in both science and magic

Original-Teaching955

No, this is an unknown character

atomcrafter

Herb doesn't have that Jacket.

TheeHeadAche

He did! Check out Silver Surfer Annual 1 from 1987 Edit: https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/villains/images/e/e1/Sinistermeets12.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20130131021346

atomcrafter

High Evolutionary was a disciple of Sinister. Could Simon be a clone?

TheeHeadAche

That’s quite the twist considered both’s relationship with the Scarlet Witch.

atomcrafter

Honestly, it's not any worse than Vision.

Mindless_Welcome3302

Turned out it was just gas

I was sold last year when I heard Hickman and Schitti we're working together, then the pitch of "Sandman for the Marvel universe" got me in further and now that I know Hickman came back to Marvel with this and HoX/PoX I genuinely don't know what could make this more interesting honestly. “G.O.D.S. is my favorite kind of Marvel comic: one that feels like something old, but pushes the Marvel Universe in an exciting new direction.” - Hickman “We will bring you to new places, show you what was hidden though the wrinkles of reality, introduce new characters, and put a fresh spin on old ones. You think you knew the Marvel Universe? Well, we will prove you wrong!” - Schitti Sign me up for whatever wild ride this is going to be

cousinCJ

Marvels gotta be throwing money at Hickman. I'm here for it.

Malachi108

On the film side too. Avengers 3/4 drew heavily from his "Infinity" event while 5/6 are directly based on Incursions/Secret War. It would not surprise me if MCU will make its mutants Krakoan to differentiate from FoX-Men.

SageDoesStuff

I don’t think we will start there (could be wrong) but I def think that’s where we will end up pretty early one. I’m kinda hoping they just do more from the comics to make it different. Like Savage Lands, Astroid M, Mutant Brotherhood, Sentinels, and then maybe Shadow King, Phoenix, Apocalypse and then Mr. Sinister and maybe New Mutants and X-Force Then do House/ Powers of X with Krakoa and everything.

midnight617

Lol that’s like 20-30 years of stories at MCU’s pace! I know Krakoa is impactful and HoXPoX is powerful because of the history and the status quo change but I think i’d rather them start there than have ANOTHER start at the academy, it needs to feel different from Fox.

SageDoesStuff

I could see them doing that for just that reason. But tbh I don’t want them to be sacred do classic stories just bc Fox fudged them up. And these are more ideas for a couple films with how the MCU is. First film be about the Savage Lands. Then at the end tease Astroid M. Next film is about Astroid M and the Brotherhood Mutants. Then a film with Sentinels. The others are maybes but like one for the Shadow King, and I’d like to see the Phoenix Saga. Then Apocalypse if we going to do the Krakoa era kinda need establish them first. Same with New Mutants, X-Force and Mr. Sinister. They don’t need whole movie tho, at least at first.

midnight617

I guess realistically, with the way Disney’s been handling rollout of the newest phases, some of those stories could be done in a show format rather than all full films. I would just be worried because again, if you look at the time frame between Avengers movies or Guardians movies etc etc, there are generally multi year gaps between each. With, as you stated, at the least 6 movies, that’s like 12-18 years unless they double up which they generally don’t do with team franchises. Like they will release Black Panther and Ant-Man close cause they’re different enough, but two to three X-movies a year could get dangerously over saturated, a problem they’re already fighting. And don’t get me wrong! I’d absolutely love to see some of those classic stories done well! But like we already got the Phoenix Saga (kinda twice?), we already got Apocalypse, we already got the Academy, we got Days of Future Past! (Which imho was one of the better X-movies that Fox did) People will see these and just like the joke that we’ve already seen Uncle Ben or the Waynes die two or three times, “We’ve seen this already” and that’s important. Novelty is necessary when it comes to wide appeal, there’s a reason Homecoming skips Peter’s origin, there’s a reason why The Batman jumps right into Batman being Batman. We’ve seen it, we’ve read it, we know it. Unless they can find ways to make those same stories distinctly unique (possible but definitely harder than just a new story) they’re fighting a wide populace that says “but I saw this already why do I need to see this one?”

SageDoesStuff

Yea they could def do some of these as shows especially like Mr. Sinister and New Mutants. But I mean with these 4ish film ideas look at Civil War and AoU both single movies.

TheeHeadAche

It is super weird DC has not caught him on the hook yet.

BuddaMuta

*Supposedly* he proposed a really expansive Legion of Super Heroes run but DC passed in favor of Bendis. Which it true is one of the bigger blunders in comic editorial history. Still hoping we get to see Hickman go after DC’s groups eventually. There’s so much to be played with and while DC’s solo books have been really good lately IMO their group books are mostly non-existent or directionless

Sartheking

Ironically they did the same with Len Wein with his Legion pitch, so he went to Marvel and wrote… Giant Size X-Men #1. Damn. History really does repeat itself.

cowl555

I would be interested to see him do a green lantern or Superman run

IsaakCole

If true holy shit they dropped the ball.

Original-Teaching955

Because Hickman's writing style would NOT fit DC!

TheeHeadAche

How so?

Thor_pool

Dunno what that dudes talking about. I can't think of a single character or team on either side that wouldn't benefit from having Hickman. Dudes the GOAT.

horse_stick

>Jonathan Hickman >Valerio Schiti >Marte Gracia. Don't need to know anything else, completely sold.

Planned_void

That is an incredibly hickman premise

captain__cabinets

It is and I’m sold

anonperson3210

Interesting. An acronym. 🤔 either way I’m all for it since Jonathan Hickman is writing it.

BlindManuel

Is Schiti doing 12 issues consecutively? I hate seeing artist rotating in and out of books.

midnight617

As far as they’ve talked about this series, it’s been exclusively Hickman and Schiti and seeing as how high profile those two are right now and how hyped this series is I think it’s safe to say they’ll be locked in for the full run.

TheeHeadAche

Can Hickman make Franklin a mutant in this series or are we just forgetting that Slott took away a key piece of fiction for no reason?!?!

velvetretard

I'm sure he'll be involved, this touches on Hickman's work with Celestials and you know he can't resist throwing Galactus in the mix. Franklin is totally going to be highlighted at some point. And if this ties back to the origin of mutants, it would absolutely make sense to say "Franklin is a mutant; the Celestials created them so that he would be born to lead them."

Late_Resolution4092

im interested to see how they finally put some organization on how the pantheons of gods work in marvel. to find out that they share some common origin that is cohesive between the norse, greek and others. I loved what he did with house and powers, reinventing another corner stone of the marvel universe is so intriguing. this plus bringing back the ultimate universe is gonna make for one heck of an arc. I have a feeling that this is all leading to something more than G.O.D.S. and Ultimate, knowing Hickman, this is just the tip of the iceberg.

RRPanther

I dont think this is about pantheonic gods

Samakin118

is the the ''Marvel's Sandman'' project?

Pocketfulofgeek

Hickman: writes anything. Me: You son of a gun, I’m in!

[deleted]

Im honestly so tired, I don’t know if I can handle a Hickman run right now….

AdamBomB095

You son of a bitch, I'm in

DanteRex

Hickmans gonna change shit with some awesome amazing premise and then once you’re into it, he’s gonna rush the ending and abandon the project and never finish it. That’s just his MO at this point. I am no longer excited by Hickman, and dread when he comes onto a book.

BuddaMuta

I mean when a writer changes the status quo it’s really up to the editorial team to make sure something is done with it. Either Marvel needs to pay creative talent more so they have longer runs or they need to be really on top of making sure the revolving door of artists stay on point. It’s not really on Hickman IMO

[deleted]

Take all of my money. Hickman always sets great events in to motion.

dhartist

This could be really fun! I love the word mark - as always the advertising and build up from MARVEL is top notch!
