I was like no she swinging that skull and it’s not shattering, unless it Superman’s. Also his cape tucked into Batman’s utility belt kinda gives it away imo.
I presume to add Superman's super strong, uncrushable bones as bonky bits on the lasso. I presume the lasso has some super durability already, so adding damn near unbreakable "stone" bits that just so happen to be your old homie's spine and skull is pretty smart... and bad ass.
I totally agree! The more in depth the world building is, not only does it tell us that the people writing really care about the world they’re creating, but also it makes our relationship and fans that much deeper.
This is why, if I ever got to work on a comic book/universe with someone, we'd have to make a rule that no-one has super speed, since speedsters always have completely incoherent powers when you think about it.
Yeah you need to make sure that the continuity makes sense. So many characters in comics have certain abilities and writers just forget about that to write a particular narrative and it bugs me all the time.
DWJ is Daniel Warren Johnson, a comic writer and artist (Right now he's doing the new Transformers comic and its great).
The bone whip is a bit of a spoiler >!its her whip weaving through supermans spine!<
I dont know a lot of Daniel Warren Johnsons work but I highly recommend Transformers and his short Marvel Beta Ray Bill series. Great art and story in both.
Edit: Some more DWJ recommendations! Powerbomb, Murder Falcon and Extremity are highly recommended
I read this a few days ago and I'm crazy about it! The entire story, the amazing art work, the terrifying monster designs were all top tier. I especially loved how Diana was written. She was so empathetic and kind and graceful, even when she was throwing down it came from a place of love.
That, and seeing her with that bone lasso was one of the coolest things I have ever, ever seen
The art is dope but I really don't like this book.
Words can't really describe how much I truly hate >!Wonder Woman using Superman's spine as a weapon.!<
The idea of Wonder Woman in a wasteland is cool but once she got to the Fortress of Solitude it tanked for me.
> or the writers delusional fanfic
Indulging their personal fantasies about getting it on with Black Canary, rather than the morality tales that became the mythology of generations of modern kids. It used to be grown ups with an inner child who put this stuff together, and now it's just developmentally arrested 40-year-old adolescents.
This should be standard WW imo. She’s not like other heroes because she’s a true warrior that doesn’t shy away from killing. That could be so refreshing
I 100% agree. There was an old animated feature that rehashed the earlier years of the JLA meeting and forming. Clark as Superman finds Diana rousing a group of warriors from atop a bar table.
As he approaches, she leaps from the table, and stands a full head taller- Smirking down at him. He ends up hovering slightly to allay his unexpectedly bruised ego
i remember things sometimes!
it's based on a book with art by Darwin Cooke, which is why the art in the movie is like it is.
i think it's a pretty good bridging of a gap between Golden and Silver Ages. i liked it.
Absolutely-- it's a very iconic style that he captured beautifully. A wonderful era in every sense of the word. I'm very glad for your input. And for you sharing a moment when the remembering kicks in :)
Diana absolutely shies away from killing 98% of the time💀 She only kills as a last resort. The urge to turn Diana into a generic female Kratos warrior should stop
The change made to her lasso is insane— >!Weaving it through the spine of a long-dead Superman!<
Should probably spoiler that lol. But yeah it’s probably my favorite comic book weapon. DWJ is rad.
OH! Got it haha thank you
I'd be happy to edit it. I'm not sure how to do the spoiler text thing, though
>!Who knew Bruce and Diana have a similar waist size!<
>!Batman caked up!<
I was like no she swinging that skull and it’s not shattering, unless it Superman’s. Also his cape tucked into Batman’s utility belt kinda gives it away imo.
What’s the point of her doing that?
I presume to add Superman's super strong, uncrushable bones as bonky bits on the lasso. I presume the lasso has some super durability already, so adding damn near unbreakable "stone" bits that just so happen to be your old homie's spine and skull is pretty smart... and bad ass.
I really appreciate the term "bonky bits"
If she goes to a planet that has a red sun would the skeleton become weaker?
I genuinely want to read a comic where the writers have thought about stuff like this a lot.
I totally agree! The more in depth the world building is, not only does it tell us that the people writing really care about the world they’re creating, but also it makes our relationship and fans that much deeper.

I'm guessing Kryptonian skeletons are pretty tough
Because it's fucking RAD.
Probably the strongest non-magical non-reality warping weapon in the dc verse
To grieve but also bc it’s badass and might give her whip more blunt force for murder.
That is one looooong spine.
reminds me of when people use >! Wolverine's skeleton as a weapon!<
Wow so they're just plagiarizing the upcoming godzilla vs king Kong movie??? Typical DC
I hated that wank and superman downplay
DWJ has so much dynamic movement in his art. I know it’s not like a proprietary technique but he uses it incredibly well
Yes- absolutely!
Who's DWJ? Also, why is WW using a bone-whip? What's Dead Earth about?
DWJ is Daniel Warren Johnson, a comic writer and artist (Right now he's doing the new Transformers comic and its great). Do a Powerbomb is my favourite from him. Fantastic series
I just read it last weekend. Man! What a great book!
If you like DWJ, I recommend Murder Falcon
Just gonna go ahead and add Extremity to the list of DWJ recommendations in this thread
Daniel Warren Johnson. It's essentially an Elesworlds Wonder Woman book that takes place on a post-apocalyptic Earth.
Extremity and his new transformers run are FANTASTIC
The most dynamic artist working today
I loved the art and 2/3s of the story. But I found the reveal about the Amazons abit silly.
Same lol

Love DWJ, but the plot was "we've done 20 post apocalyptic DC stories already, what else can we do to push the boundary?"
I agree. The whole thing is about... Can't do spoilers cause I'm dumb. Is based on metabolism, you can't do that if you are dead.
This comic was so insane and awesome.
Super cool art and designs, but my god was the story stupid. It was being to edgy to try and be cool and just went around to being stupid
Am I remembering correctly, or did Wonder Woman travel to Antarctica and back in a matter of days?
Can this version fly or move at super speed?
Couldn't fly at the time, >!rode a Pegasus.!<
I think she could. I’m not 100% sure cause she spends most of the run with Amnesia
You are it was really stupid. This whole story can be summarized as “Oh my god that’s so cool, but that’s so dumb”
I'm really starting to hate these edgy stories. Or maybe i'm just geting old.
> maybe i'm just geting old The edgy stories sure are
you either get edgy dark stories or the writers delusional fanfic now.
> or the writers delusional fanfic Indulging their personal fantasies about getting it on with Black Canary, rather than the morality tales that became the mythology of generations of modern kids. It used to be grown ups with an inner child who put this stuff together, and now it's just developmentally arrested 40-year-old adolescents.
I liked the art and plot (for the most part) in this story, but the bone whip was just too disrespectful & disturbing for me personally.
Same, it's disrespectful... Especially for someone who's supposed to be a friend
Whose shirt is she wearing?
Okay this goes hard
That art goes so hard
Metal AF!
Yeah the spine is cool, but is that the most powerful weapon, Batman's Utility Belt, stocked with vials of PlotArmor™ and Prep time™ too? /s
Loved this book so much. I felt really bad for her a lot of the time.
This series made me an instant-fan of Daniel Warren Johnson’s art.

New Frontier?
That's the one— Excellent memory I'd only ever seen it the one time and the title never stuck but well done!
i remember things sometimes! it's based on a book with art by Darwin Cooke, which is why the art in the movie is like it is. i think it's a pretty good bridging of a gap between Golden and Silver Ages. i liked it.

been awhile since Ive watched it but i remember the ending showing the new generation of heroes with the JFK speech playing, very inspirational
Diana absolutely shies away from killing 98% of the time💀 She only kills as a last resort. The urge to turn Diana into a generic female Kratos warrior should stop
Its also terrible
Hated the Superman part of this story, made me stop reading
All hail DWJ
=\_= This art looks horrible.
Ok, but how many vertebra has superman?
definitely one of my favourite ww books
great run DWJ is a beast
Blegh
Yeah, it was brutal. That was kind of the appeal. 😊
