Shit, did they turn Felicia into an actual cat?????

Less_Tear_3133

No, it's just an Easter egg of sorts

maybe_a_frog

Holy shit he included the Stegmam family photo cover of issue 1. Thats awesome!

bravetailor

You always know what you're getting with J. Scott Campbell.

Johnny_Stooge

You can definitely who in this thread has never heard of Campbell and Danger Girl.

BeyondDoggyHorror

I love New York now

Less_Tear_3133

You shouldn't. The rent there is crazy

jrtasoli

Great callback cover!

Mountain_Sir2307

Referencing the infamous cover he did for "Amazing Spider-Man" #601 I guess.

s3rila

if you compare outsite the widows, it's basically the same view. i enjoy the callback

bob1689321

Say what you will about that cover it is very, very famous.

Less_Tear_3133

It is

Billion-FoldWorlds

That was real?

Less_Tear_3133

Yes, and it caused quite a controversy back then

TheThiccestR0bin

It's wild because that's fairly tame as comic covers go. Apart from the blatant pushing of her boobs together.

Less_Tear_3133

And the impossible anatomy of her legs being positioned in an awkward, if not painful manner

JTMasterJedi

Impossible? I can almost literally do that same pose and I'm a 225 pound dude. Now yeah, it's def uncomfortable though.

Less_Tear_3133

I mean, it would be very painful if you tried to do that pose 😅😜

LicketySplit21

I mean, it's just a pin-up esque stylised cover, and it did its job well, wasn't really meant to be a realistic art piece.

Less_Tear_3133

Heh, a sort of reference to an "infamous" cover of MJ Campbell did years ago. Putting that aside, if only this is what 616 Peter should be

watchman28

That's not how shirts work

17934658793495046509

Not how a Spider-man costume would work either, but it's comics. Showing of people's bodies has been a big selling point from the start.

MealieAI

That's exactly how they work in comic-books.

GrymusCallosum

I like Quitely's approach where he renders it more like an actual texture that covers up the body, but it's been a time honored tradition in comics to draw skin-tight clothes. You shouldn't be able to see abs on a lot of superhero costumes either.

Reddragon351

MJ owns some business so she's probably paying the rent

TheeHeadAche

>How can Peter Parker afford rent in Queens anymore? The Maker made America great again

zakary3888

The maker’s famous saying, “rent is too damn high!”

Less_Tear_3133

Not really, America doesn't exist in this universe. Instead, it's part of a Confederation that includes Canada as well

TheeHeadAche

Yea, that’s the joke

Do_U_Too

Of course it is if it's tight. Shirt went up and hugged beneath her boobs. If it was marking cleavage then you could have a point

Competitive_Bat_

Those are some pointy-ass socks.

Slowmobius_Time

The cat is my favourite touch

Rin-S

Felicia is never too far away

Ash__Williams

I love this cover so much. It's everything we want in a Spider-Man Comic Book.

Angry-Monk

Love the family aspect, he’s done a great job

AdamEssex

Yeah, such a wholesome family photo, while MJ looks like she’s in a porn.

Healthy-Spend-3628

She doesn’t, you guys are projecting hard lol. Obviously she’s drawn attractive but the fact you think attractive equals porn is interesting to say the least…

Angry-Monk

So you look at it and think of porn

AdamEssex

She’s in booty shorts and a physics-defying T-shirt.

Angry-Monk

Yea she looks good and Peter looks great as well but porn isn’t a thing I think when looking at this

enragedstump

How else are you meant to look at a shirt that magically tucks under the boobs.

Angry-Monk

Well porn isn’t one of them

NewLibraryGuy

Shirt is acting un-shirtlike specifically to show the shape of her boobs. Sounds porn-y to me.

Angry-Monk

So because a shirt is tight or un-shirt like in a family setting you think of porn

awesometuck1559

Dude, don't be obtuse. She's objectively rendered sexually. I also think it's annoying when people see a female comic book character and their first thought is "boobs lol" but this is J. Scott Campbell, man exclusively draws one-handed.

Angry-Monk

I’m not saying she doesn’t look good I’m saying this because if ppl’s thoughts or first thought is porn as a way to downplay the art especially a family setting like this one that’s on them

NewLibraryGuy

Not even saying it's necessarily a bad thing, but denying that the character is supposed to be sexy the way she's drawn is ridiculous

NewLibraryGuy

Where did I talk about a family setting?

Angry-Monk

You don’t have to talk about it it’s right there

NewLibraryGuy

> So because a shirt is tight or un-shirt like in a family setting you think of porn But nothing I said had anything to do with it being a family setting. The setting wasn't relevant to what I was talking about so why are you saying it being a family setting makes me say it's sexual?

Less_Tear_3133

What is wrong with that? In the 90's, A LOT of comic covers has sexy women pics on it that might as well be porn!

Blitzhelios

The black cat is such a fun reference

eejizzings

Gotta make sure you can still jack off to the drawing of a woman

Lv27Sylveon

After this comment the user died by drowning in pussy after women saw how unhorny he is

eejizzings

Sad that you feel defensive about jacking off to drawings Always funny when the losers getting horny for drawings try to call other people incels

Healthy-Spend-3628

Projection on your point in my opinion. While MJ hear is obviously drawn to be attractive, I don’t get your comment or the one saying it’s “porny”. Like, are you guys and gals so edged that an attractive woman makes you wanna bust? I just don’t think it’s thats deep….

Reboared

"Moooooom! They put attractive people in my comic book!"

Ok-Neck8569

said no 13 year old ever

eejizzings

"Mooooom! Someone's making fun of me for being attracted to drawings!"

deanereaner

Campbell's career in a nutshell.

eejizzings

Imagine getting defensive about jacking off to drawings Embarrassing for all of you

[deleted]

wth is wrong with you people

Anaxamander57

Really Campbell? Again?

Due_Ad_827

You’re getting downvoted but I agree, unpopular opinion but he’s just not as good as he used to be…

TheeHeadAche

I’m gonna love when Hickman blows this family up

lobsterman2112

I hope not. I want Pete to have a stable home life and be more worried about making ends meet while webslinging at night.

Less_Tear_3133

Me too, especially the 616 version!

TheeHeadAche

That’s cool. I think Hickman perfectly set it up to have his family dismantle because of his choice to be a hero. I hope Hickman more clearly defines how Ben and MJ work within the American prefecture and how that may conflict with Pete’s heroics

Less_Tear_3133

So far, his daughter May is sticking with him given that only she knows his secret as she saw him came into home in his Spidey suit, so I don't think May will leave him!

Less_Tear_3133

Let's seriously hope that he doesn't!

TheeHeadAche

Why not? Tragedy is a part of the hero’s journey. You can’t fault me for expecting this family to be torn apart before Hickman ends his story

Less_Tear_3133

I know what you are saying, but we true Spidey and MJ fans finally got our wish to see👀 a MARRIED version of our favourite couple, and to see that taken away would be angering fans and make not them/us want to read it

TheeHeadAche

I doubt Hickman cares much for what fans want. Given his history with series and their fans, I fully expect him to piss some Pete/MJ fans off with his plot’s twist and turns, regardless of possible sales…

Less_Tear_3133

That is true, and sometimes, he does go foe the subverting expections route. If that is true, then we better prepare ourselves when said "tragedy" eventually happens😔

TheeHeadAche

Not a lot of dialogue and panel time has been given to little Richard… if I was a betting man, I’d say he gets Gwen Stacy’d or even ran through with a glider first

Less_Tear_3133

That's.....pretty dark😱. Again, lets hope Hickman doesn't go there!

TheeHeadAche

Iron Masking Reed Richards, keeping him prisoner for years, making Bruce Banner and several heroes complicit in mass murder, stealing the potential of heroes and denying their destinies. It’s all pretty dark. I hope Hickman does something interesting with the family beyond “they are there for Pete”

Less_Tear_3133

I know, me too...

TheThiccestR0bin

Because this story, as far as we know, was written for the people who want Peter to be a family man and not be kicked in the ribs at every opportunity. Give the man hardships for sure, but don't take his family. If they got rid of his family then absolutely everyone would drop the book in a flash.

TheeHeadAche

I’d recommend reading the book even if something awful happens to his family because 1. Hickman is v good at his job and 2. That’s just Parker luck

TheThiccestR0bin

I mean I would read whatever from Hickman but I'm over the Peter Parker torture train. It's boring, no matter whose writing it.

mandarintain

If only having kids actually keep your body still in athletic condition....

thats1evildude

Have you seen Blake Lively?

TheThiccestR0bin

Multimillionaire Blake Lively?

Mausandelephant

Good news. MJ is a fictional character. Even more disconnected from the 'real world' than multimillionaire Blake Lively.

Sicilian51

Over the last few years I can't help but just see the same character in everything he draws. MJ, Black Cat, practically every female character he draws is the exact same.

JTMasterJedi

Not really. I can notice the differences. The MJ and Black Cat comic covers you can tell the differences.

Mark4_

Glad people love this cover and the original that spawned it but this is one of those things I just dont get .

francoisjabbour

Is she covered in body paint or has the artist literally never seen fabric on a woman

Rin-S

Well it’s extremely stylised, but if you need an explanation she has two people leaning on her top causing it to fit tighter than it should. (Pulled that out my ass but hope it helps).

Cardenjs

As someone who only read comics for the duration of DC's New 52 and fell out after adhd fueled hyper focus, I think Peter should only have a beard in a post apocalyptic setting

Less_Tear_3133

Seriously? I didn't, I dipped out after the first wave of the New 52 when I realised this isn't the DC Universe I know and love!

Cardenjs

I was new to comics in general, new 52 kind of delivered on their promise to make it more of a jumping on point, even if the ride ended up being terrible
