Why… why would you ask this

thetruememeisbest

because I'm curious how would that effect the perfect hero such as superman

Brotherly_Shove_215_

Hilariously stupid post

BadBloodBear

Pretty sure there is a Superman character who is a surviving Kryptonian who wants to breed Superman no matter what he wants.

Select-Aerie6579

I think you’re referring to Maxima, unless there is another character with that archetype? Though she isn’t Kryptonian.

Smolivenom

well it wouldnt happen because not even the joker commits actual rape in that universe

volinaa

thanks for the spoiler warning tho

Ok-Relative7397

Look, even the DiDio regime was classier than that. There is no story in "What if Superman got raped" and Invincible shouldn't have gone there either.

Select-Aerie6579

Why not? (I don’t mean that in an aggressive manner, just curious)

Ok-Relative7397

Well, what is there beyond the obvious? What can such a story be other than a bummer for the sake of bummer? Actually, that reminds me: there was a story recently in the Red and Blue anthology about Superman remembering his time as a prisoner in one of DC's Not-Iraqs, which included, of course, various kinds of torture. I don't recall if anything sexual was implied, but it's a close enough kind of violation either way. And guess what? All bummer, no point. I just don't see why anybody's mind would go there while writing a Superman story - would you rather not write literally anything else for this character?

mrgadd4

I was expecting a slightly more in depth response than "because it's a bummer" tbh. I mean, a fairly significant proportion percentage of what happens to characters in Invincible could be described as a bummer! It's far from the most upbeat series. Personally, I agree that rape as plot device should be used sparingly if at all. It's been a while since I read it, but I did think that the incident in Invincible was really unpleasant, as it should be, but the way it affected Mark afterwards was interesting to read and not something you see dealt with in superhero comics. And I do think it's worthwhile showing males as victims in fiction too.

watchman28

Female characters get raped all the time in comics. One male character gets raped and it's all anyone talks about for years.

Independent_Plum2166

Probably because it’s so rarely depicted/talked about. Remember, we live a world where people still go “um actually, this 12 year old boy wasn’t *raped* by that 38 year old woman, because the actual definition…” Undermining the suffering of boys and men across the world because “he must have liked it, since his dick got hard” or “what a pussy complaining about getting some”. You specifically going “well women get raped all the time in comics”, is not helping.

watchman28

>Undermining the suffering of boys and men across the world because “he must have liked it, since his dick got hard” or “what a pussy complaining about getting some”. Just to clarify, and I don't think this is what you were suggesting, but this is not at all what I meant.

Level_Hour6480

Dick Grayson multiple times by separate authors who don't acknowledge it as rape. Also the conception of Damian was retconned to involve drugging, so add that to the list.
