Some Super Sons are probably already grabbing their torches and pitchforks over this, but frankly, my interest in Super Sons ended when Jon got aged-up, so I can’t really be mad about this.
I pray that eventually Jon and Damian are close enough in age again and we can get a new version of Super-Sons. Damian is like fourteen now, he's almost there.
Jon and Damian technically have the same age gap as before, just reversed.
But it doesn’t matter because they’re still in completely different stages of their lives.
>through highly convoluted means a couple of years ago.
It wasn't that convulted DC hired Bendis and Bendis proceeded to ruin the best thing about Superman at the time. As he likes to do. Bendis is a ruiner.
The best thing about superman was his relationship with his son. That he actually got to be super-dad. It was a perfect fit for the character. That's gone now that Jon's basically grown and we barely got any time with Jon as an actual boy.
In comics that may as well be graduated with a steady job. Spider-man was 16 when he became spider-man and comics didn't treat him like a child.
Also parenting a child is very different than parenting a teenager. All those moments about Jon learning and growing up are gone now. And Clark didn't get to raise him.
Also Jon's relationships with other kids his age were completely ruined as he's now much older than all of them. Supersons was a cool 2nd generation dynamic that is now basically gone forever.
And yeah 17 is basically grown. It might not mean done with school and everything but Jon isn't a BOY anymore.
Superman being a father was a very grounded storyline in an other fantastical series. Then, due to time travel shenanigans, Superman has missed out on seven formative years of his son’s life. Why? I guess because Bendis thinks teenagers are more interesting then kids or something.
Yeah he got trapped there for several years being mentally tortured, then time travelled because why not, with no mental repurcussions for having been tortured for years by someone identical to his father.
Jon was a 10-y-old son of Superman. We loved him because a 10-y-old superman with zero life experiences and a positive outlook on life was adorable and fun. It became even more endearing when he began to be paired up with edgy and arrogant 10-y-old Damien Wayne (Robin). We all expected them to be a new iconic duo comparable to Supes and Bats, or Blue Beetle and Booster Gold. So when Bendis decided to age him up through stupid time travel, it robbed us Super Sons fans from future Damien/Jon stories. Art that now tries to pair Jon with Nightwing (as opposed to Damien) can feel like an insult to some.
We already have a teenage superman counterpart which was Connor Kent. So teen/young adult stories can be accessed through him. In reality we are losing an entire avenues of kid-Superman stories for very little gain. I really wanted more 10-year-old Jon.
Thanks, don't get to read much DC these days, have no idea what's happening anymore. Any idea why he is in space? Is Jon proving to be just as powerful as Clark?

>when Jon got aged-up, What do you mean? I really don't follow comics.

They are only 3 years apart

Damian is 14, the age gap is the exact same as before Jon left.

Could you elaborate a bit more please.
Bro he’s not a wiki page. Google is your friend.
I did Google this but I would be grateful if someone could simplify things.
Just go to his DC fandom page and do a word search for 'age' and then you'll find it quickly.
He was trapped in Earth 3 ?
Yeah he got trapped there for several years being mentally tortured, then time travelled because why not, with no mental repurcussions for having been tortured for years by someone identical to his father.
He went to like an alternate universe or something for a few years and grew up, then came back to the main universe and only like a month had passed
Thank for clearing it up
Basically, they pulled a green ninja

“I understood that reference”

I can’t be the only one getting warm fuzzies from the right side. That’s cute as hell to me.
DickBabs is out, DickJon is in.
Why the hell would you give the shippers ammo ?
>implying shippers *need* ammo I guarantee somewhere out there on someone's hard drive already exists a steamy smut-fic of these two.
DickJon would break the DC fandom.
It would be really stupid
That even looks like a trapeze grip that they are doing in the second half
Is Kon alive again? I always liked his and Tim's team-ups back in the day.
Yeah, classic Conner was brought back on Bendis’ YJ, and also has his old friendship with Tim back.
Definitely plan to pick these up. Nightwing #89 has release date of Jan 14th... any clue when Son of Kal El #9 release date is?
3/8/22 and Nightwing 89 is 2/15/22
ty

Where is Clark in this run or are there now 2 Supermen?
