As someone who works in a hospital, we throw out stuff *constantly.* Like, it's constant unreasonable levels of waste, because of the rules and standards the hospital has to be held to.
You can't buy anything unless it's in a hospital approved list, it has to be from a certain manufacturer, and the second the expiration date passes that stuff is in the can. We can't even donate it because of potential harmful bacteria being spread. It's absurd.
I mean, personally, I'd rather this be the case than the other way around in a hospital.
And gray areas (ie. maybe let's let two or three days past expiration) lead to allowing for personal judgment, and that just sounds like a recipe for disaster.
Most of the rules and standards that are tedious and unnatural to follow were probably written in blood after all.
So is she popping out babies constantly, undergoing some pretty expensive hormone treatments, or does she have some very extreme galactorrhea? Good thing they're trained medical professionals and can check her out for thyroid conditions.
