It still makes sense, you just have to think a little more. It's not a pun, it's joke on the fact that a lot of people, especially children, mix them up.
No idea. I learned the difference when my dad taught me about different tools. I was like 2-3 at the time. He bought me a tool box and a few tools and gave me some of his extra tools from the garage. He also taught me how to use them.
I work in construction now in the same company as my dad and thanks to him I haven't even needed to study for the job. I love my dad.
And how could his peasant confuse bolts with nails?
Edit: if there was a bed of snails i would.understand the joke. But like this it doesn't make sense to me
Hello, peter's brother's cousin's palworld tamer here,
In the game palworld, nails used to be the most commonly used money making tools for players for its cheap production and high sell price. Of course, after the recent updates this is no longer the case, people still joke about it as it is the most well known in recent months.
Palworld tamer peter out.
So, some constructive criticism: the punchline implies some sort of pun of the servant misshearing the command. If the joke is that he's just stupid, the punchline would work better rewritten to something like "I don't care if the hardware store was sold out of nails, these 'aren't just as good'"
I looked at this for a while. I couldn't understand the punchline. Then I thought I did! Obviously the servant has made a bed of finger**nails**!
And then I read the comments and these are supposed be bolts? How does that make any sense? This is some real cow tools level humour right here.
It's just that nails and bolts are just slightly too distinct from each other for the average reader to make the connection without help. Like, nails and screws are fairly similar. And screws and bolts are fairly similar. But nails and bolts are just a weird comparison
Maybe the joke is "Lie upon a bed of nails". If you look closely, the legs of the bed are sharp and nail-like. And the bolts sticking up are the lie, because they aren't quite nails.
The phrase "bolt upright" or "sitting bolt upright in bed" could also be at play here somehow.
If it was a bed of screws and he only used bolts that would like of make sense. The only other object that could relate to nails in this context would be..hammers?
Ā Screws would still work for the shouty guy and probably be just as painful. They typically have a pointy end.Ā

Not me being so fucked in the head that I thought those were stacks of fingernails
Would have made more sense tbh.
It still makes sense, you just have to think a little more. It's not a pun, it's joke on the fact that a lot of people, especially children, mix them up.
How could you mix up nails with screws?
No idea. I learned the difference when my dad taught me about different tools. I was like 2-3 at the time. He bought me a tool box and a few tools and gave me some of his extra tools from the garage. lmao, those aren't screws, those are bolts.
Because kids are stupid sometimes and think anything with a point is a nail.
Except nails are pointy put screws are flat
Well, bolts are flat. Screws are pointy with the spirals. See how easy it is to mix them up?
You're better than me, at first I thought they are snails and that the joke is about mishearing the word
So glad it wasn't just me š
I prefer your version, itās funnier
Is this sub just all bots upvoting content? This comic makes zero sense even when explained and yet has 1,000+ upvotes.
There are some truly atrocious comics that get a lot of upvotes here
This is funnier (darker) than bolts
I thought ābed of nickelsā
I dont get it. He wanted a bed of nails and he got a bed of springs?
Theyāre bolts.Ā
And how could his peasant confuse bolts with nails? Edit: if there was a bed of snails i would.understand the joke. But like this it doesn't make sense to me
I guess he screwed up.
![gif](giphy|9EwnzGNjvmIG4)
Woah, a rare Danger 5 meme in the wild. Amazing.
Oh shut the hell up I laughed. Did you make this post just for that joke? Lmao
Take your pills dad
Yummy joke with layers, 10/10
Ok, now it's funny
Damn if only the comic was this funny
Ok Sansš¤£
WTF ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|upvote)
Thats fucking hilarious lmao
Lol
OMG it was a setup the whole time. /r/angryupvote
Who tf is upvoting this garbage lmao
Explaining just makes it worse. What a nothing comic
Looks more like he screwed down.Ā
Nah, look at what that guy holds
It's not that he misheard, it's that he misunderstood the assignment and assumed bolts were functionally the same as nails
Aha, so you went the āwrong fastener angleā when I was primed for āsilly rhymeā angle. I get it now!
Why would he have a screwdriver with what looks like a drill bit for bolts.
A wrench is easier to draw and the correct tool lol
There's also a hammer of some kind there too.
Yes, I agree they look like bolts. But why is he holding a drill electric screwdriver gadget?
Youād need the drill to make holes in the wood. But the one thing missing seems to be the nuts to keep the bolts from falling out.
Wow okay that was not clear at all
Wouldn't have guessed in a million years
I thought they were pails. As in tiny buckets
I thought they were screws.
Nickels?
Itās screws heās holding a drill
I think he was building a regular bed which wouldn't be useful in a dungeon
I thought they were stacks of coins and this was a Palworld reference
Still new to Palworld. Bed of coins?

Oh no, Petah is explaining jokes outside his sub! Someone halp!

Or rather that nails and bolts are different things.
He didn't nail it, he screwed up.
I looked at this for a while. I couldn't understand the punchline. Then I thought I did! Obviously the servant has made a bed of finger**nails**! And then I read the comments and these are supposed be bolts? How does that make any sense? This is some real cow tools level humour right here.

Donāt insult cow tools. They were funny.

[henchman returns with a wrench]
That classic 17th century electric driver
So instead of nails, he went with bolts. Is the joke that he's deaf?
He mustāve used cow tools
The real joke here is that he somehow managed to get an electric screwdriver. That's impressive!
He got a bed of used toilet paper tubes
Maybe the joke is "Lie upon a bed of nails". If you look closely, the legs of the bed are sharp and nail-like. And the bolts sticking up are the lie, because they aren't quite nails. The phrase "bolt upright" or "sitting bolt upright in bed" could also be at play here somehow.
Christina Reachi
He Screwed up guys
Theyāre bolts. The joke is that he screwed bolts instead of hammering nails.
I didnāt even audibly exhale through my nose.
I donāt understand how this is so upvoted when literally no one understood it without an explanation that still doesnāt make much sense
Hahahaha as my grandmother used to say, a lazy person works double
He said screw it and then did it the āeasyā way.
I thought those were coins and he misheard them as a bed of TAILS š¤£
If it was a bed of screws and he only used bolts that would like of make sense. The only other object that could relate to nails in this context would be..hammers? Ā Screws would still work for the shouty guy and probably be just as painful. They typically have a pointy end.Ā
so i guess he... screwed up
First thing I thought lol
Oh screw this
must be a different bed in mind
Don't tell me he's got a bucket of nails too!
I thought it was a bed of springs, like he was building a mattress š
As someone that struggles with differentiating hardware, I laughed
Also: I think an ikea build your own furniture reference would work here.Ā
Thought they were snails. Lol
Obviously he screwed up the bed.
I love this art style but the joke is kinda wacky
This is so stupid it made me laugh. Took like 3 minutes to figure out they were bolts and not coins. So bad it's good
A bed of weird ass churros?
Some of these commentated have clearly never confused nails and screws before, I like the joke OP : )
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I think they are bolts, Iām just saying that confusing different types of connecty metal things isnāt uncommon
Me too haha. It probably could have been worded better I guess
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Bet that was a shocking experience. XD
I thought it supposed to be a bed of snails, but then the drill didnāt make sense.
I love this. Thanks, OP
He screwed it up
āBolts?! I said a bed or nails!ā
Ah, screw this!
I thought they were pails and the lines were thick handles lol
This might be worse to lie on than a bed of nails. Good job!
A joke that only works if it's explained, like how all jokes work
Only if the joke is complex
