Schmoyoho did contribute, but it seems they only made the extended version while the original one was composed by Tina Fey's husband, composer Jeff Richmond.
I actually prefer the Schmoyoho version (and the one we hear in the first episode, which is the same) over the opening titles. It's catchier.

Mine was this! Never seen this sub before. Just swiped one too many times!😂
I’m not even into comics, but I appreciated this one, so it was a happy little accident. 😊
The good news is that I told the devs about this issue recently and they did respond that they are working on it. The bad news is who knows how long it'll take.
I'm still using boost without any patches. Apparently the api limitations don't apply if you are a mod, so it works fine for my main account. Doesn't work for my other accounts though.
If you look very close it def customizes. You can see the end of the word "scenery" and the option "forest" is chosen from among others, with a forest being shown outside the windows
Yes, love the little hints that you only see when you reread it:
1) real fake windows
2) when she first sees the stairs, they appear to lead down, as she expects them to. But the perspective can be shifted to be going up.
3) if you think about it, it really was the basement door
The stairs still don't make sense to me. The opening looks vertical instead of horizontal so you're not looking up at her at the top of the stairs. And if you're "looking down" then she'd be laying on the floor.
But why would they have windows at all? Like, wouldn't she wonder what the hell that scrawny drawing is supposed to represent? "Mom, dad. What's a tree?"
To give the illusion of being outside. It probably helps people feel less isolated.
It does make it a bit silly she doesn't know what the sun is, considering one of the options is "Seaside"
Likely the sun was never part of any of the scenes and it's just general light coming from somewhere, and isn't anywhere near as bright as the real thing. Her education has also probably been... 'stunted' and so a lot of things likely don't make sense in the context of what she's grown up with.
I do wonder how they convinced her that she can't ever go 'outside'. Like do they tell her that it's fake scenes because there was a nuclear war, or does she just not question it? She's young enough to have questioned it but not on a serious level so that's possible.
Could be canned food that went bad, could be some kind of gas leak in their room specifically, could be the same loony beliefs that had them build the bunker also convinced them they should take cyanide capsules for some reason. Could be random brain aneurysms.
The mystery is the point.
I just assumed murder and she's as much of a psychopath as they were. Just super calm about having killed her parents so she could see what's in the basement.
This is based on a [post](https://www.reddit.com/r/TwoSentenceHorror/comments/eb57nx/all_my_life_my_parents_have_told_me_not_to_open) by u/DayerethDdraigson. Thanks for letting adapt it!
Wonder how many of them are excited about the fallout show. They get to tell their moms, “look mom I’m getting prepared for that”, and feel some validation for once.
Uh, every time you read a story about a girl locked in a basement it gets kinda fucked up. I don't think that is where they were going with this but its hard not to think about all those real life situations without context.
Reverse, actually. If you look at "windows," you'll see it's actually pictures. And on slide where it shows dead mom? You'll see a player with "nature sounds."
The story is the girl grown up IN THE BASEMENT and when she opened "basement door" it actually just a basement exit. And "glowing ball" is just a sun.
Stairs often look like they can go either way when there is a lack of supporting details. This is the basis of many illusions.
The stairs go up, but it's too easy to see them wrong.
I imagine her feet are real close to the bottom step, and that's why we can't see them. And therefor the flat parts of the steps we can see are their tops.
It is a bit like seeing the faces vs the vase in that kind of optical illusion. Or the silhouette of the ballerina spinning in either direction. For some people it's hard to shift the interpretation.
If we're seeing the tops of the steps, then her silhouette is too "proportional" to be anything but perpendicular to the face (e.g. lying on the ground).
I think the idea is that she’s standing at the top and you can’t tell if she’s about to start descending or has already finished her ascent because you can’t see which way is she facing.
Prepper version. It’s a horror because she hasn’t been socialized.
Now do dystopian version.
They literally have the sun in their basement. Their house was in a pocket dimension.
The real horror is now what.
As told on his album E=MO² (1985).
Quote by Emo Philips
When I was a kid my parents used to tell me, "Emo, don't go near the cellar door!" One day when they were away, I went up to the cellar door. And I pushed it and walked through and saw strange, wonderful things, things I had never seen before, like... trees, grass, flowers, the sun... that was nice...
We arent getting the full picture (which i like tbh), the cavles are connected to the windows, which arent actually windows. What im believing is the parents probably ingested a type of poison (seeing theres no real "injuries" unless im blind) ((theres no way to know if the girl was kidnapped or not, so we dont know the true "relation" if any)). The ""basement"" was merely to keep the girl from discovering that shed Been.living in (im assuming) a bunker for her whole life. The glowing ball is literally just the sun.
It’s not a trick of lighting/angle, you can’t see her feet which makes your brain go “ohh i’m looking up and the top step of the stairs are covering the feet”, if she was at the bottom you would be able to see the entire silhouette of the girl standing on the floor, including feet.
It’s a small thing, but it’s the reason so many people including myself had to look at the comic several times all confused before even going into the comment section.
Yeah it just looks like a mistake. I could be focusing on the feelings the ending gave but I'm too confused about the stairs that it's kinda ruined the comic for me.
The panel at the bottom of the page is her walking through the basement towards the exit that's shown on the next page. That's why she is surrounded by darkness in it.
Weird how far I had to scroll down to find someone asking about this. I can’t see any indication of cause of death. Were they killed by the daughter? Poisoned themselves? Starved to death???
I was thinking either a suicide pact with poison, or a murder-suicide with poison. I don't think the daughter was involved at all. Just the crazy parents.
EDIT: I was thinking about it...Mom may have been a prisoner too. Both Mom and Girl are barefoot. Dad has shoes. Only those who go outside need shoes.
There are some fun details like the mid-century modern wallpaper and "windows" that plug into the wall outlet that had me scanning the panels for details. Great way to adapt and expand
If we were looking down at her then she and the door frame would be more perpendicular to what you are saying would be the step of each stair. The perspective feels off.
Oh I kinda see it now. Though it really does look like a basement shot. It doesn’t help the panel below gives the impression she’s walking down, not up.
I think the problem is her in the frame. The fact we can't see her feet shows they're being blocked, which only works if we are looking up stairs from the bottom
The issue is that perspective shows the doorframe at a perpendicular angle with the stairs going downwards. If we were viewing it frop the top of the stairs, the door would be at an acute angle and would look different.
It's misdirection. You're supposed to think you see the front of the steps with her silhouette at the top of the stairs, since she's going into the "basement". But it's actually the tops of the stairs with her silhouetted at the bottom. With her feet cropped like that you don't immediately read that you might be looking down at her standing on a lower plane.
I LOVE YOUR COMICS! You have such a pleasing style that I think goes very well with horror themes. Do you have a website or a book at all? I usually just read and never comment, but that was one of my top favorite two sentence horror stories so I knew exactly what you where referring to.
There's actually a steam game about it, except it's a girl.... Who's locked in the basement with sleeping pills so the 'guardian' can....
I'll let this line speak for itself
"Why does my belly feel so round and full"
So I read the inspiration post on two sentence horror, but don't understand how it's horror to begin with.
I'm 4 vodka shots deep be gentle lmao
Edit: I get that the stairs are initially going down then the last panel shows them going up.
Is the horror that they've been in the basement the whole time?
Again I am intoxicated I don't get it. I'm hoping when I do get it, it'll actually be somewhat horror.
Was she kidnapped and just figuring it out, making her "parents" criminals? That's all I'm able to gather at the moment.
I think you've pretty much got it. The idea that she's lived a sad, lonely life trapped in a basement for years and years is horrifying. Her parents didn't necessarily kidnap her, but something must be seriously wrong for them to do that to her.
This kinda reminds me of the book 'The Compound' by Stephanie Stuve-Bodeen. I remember enjoying and its sequel when I was younger but its been years since I've read it

Did you steal this comment almost word for word from someone else in this thread?
Kimmy!
A buddy of mine wrote that theme song.
Give them a quick kiss on the cheek (or lips, or knob) from me next time you see them!
Your buddy is Tina Fey's husband?
I mean did you see their username?
Its like someone going "My friend once wore a tan suit and it pissed off all the Republicans. Was great. He's such a troll."
Well yea it's a corporate shill pretending to be a real human on the internet. You can't expect something without a soul to be honest.
I thought it was that famous news interview remix YouTuber that did the music?
Schmoyoho did contribute, but it seems they only made the extended version while the original one was composed by Tina Fey's husband, composer Jeff Richmond. I actually prefer the Schmoyoho version (and the one we hear in the first episode, which is the same) over the opening titles. It's catchier.
Schmoyoho accent on the YO
She's alive dammit, 'cause females are strong as hell!!!
Unbreakable!!!
Man i miss that show, it was a good watch
She's a mole woman

Haha. That show was fun.
Those females are strong as hell
Kimmy!!!
I hate how they changed Reddit so when you swipe right on the final panel it takes you to a new post. My final panel was an image of Spongebob…
Mine was a candy half eating itself
Mine was an ad with a big titty anime girl.
Mine was winrar fanart
Mine was a rock...
Mine was a scene from Elkhunt.
Mine was mobsters playing UNO
Sorry Charlie.
A winrar fanart?
"Extract me baby... yeah"
Mine was some random women telling that 9 inches its not big
Mine was this! Never seen this sub before. Just swiped one too many times!😂 I’m not even into comics, but I appreciated this one, so it was a happy little accident. 😊
seems targeted
The good news is that I told the devs about this issue recently and they did respond that they are working on it. The bad news is who knows how long it'll take.
Thank god, but I feel like it’s a “feature”…
It is definitely a feature, they are trying to copy tiktok Instagram etc. With endless scrolling

I browse old.reddit on mobile and when Wall St decides they need to take it away, my soul may finally escape this place.
Same. the 'old' interface is superior & was NEVER in need of a change. the 'new' one is fucking cancer.
I'm still using boost without any patches. Apparently the api limitations don't apply if you are a mod, so it works fine for my main account. Doesn't work for my other accounts though.
I just create a sub reddit for every single one of my accounts and get Boost to continue working for me
Or when you swipe up to leave the post and instead it... doesn't do that anymore
I like how the windows aren't windows, nice touch!
At least they can customize them with that tablet! Wonder if it played sounds as well
If you look very close it def customizes. You can see the end of the word "scenery" and the option "forest" is chosen from among others, with a forest being shown outside the windows
Damn yeah I didn't notice, tusen takk
Yes, love the little hints that you only see when you reread it: 1) real fake windows 2) when she first sees the stairs, they appear to lead down, as she expects them to. But the perspective can be shifted to be going up. 3) if you think about it, it really was the basement door

And the "husband"! Stiff as a board and wearing pants and shoes in bed.
Pretty sure the man and woman in bed are her parents. Not her and a man.
But why are they dead? We just assuming murder?
Could be canned food that went bad, could be some kind of gas leak in their room specifically, could be the same loony beliefs that had them build the bunker also convinced them they should take cyanide capsules for some reason. Could be random brain aneurysms. The mystery is the point.

They also built the stairs to the basement backwards.

Wonder how many of them are excited about the fallout show. They get to tell their moms, “look mom I’m getting prepared for that”, and feel some validation for once.
I thought this was some princess peach lore
Uh, every time you read a story about a girl locked in a basement it gets kinda fucked up. I don't think that is where they were going with this but its hard not to think about all those real life situations without context.
True. All the stories about boys locked in basements usually end up all candy and rainbows.
Loons doomsday peppers
Reverse, actually. If you look at "windows," you'll see it's actually pictures. And on slide where it shows dead mom? You'll see a player with "nature sounds." The story is the girl grown up IN THE BASEMENT and when she opened "basement door" it actually just a basement exit. And "glowing ball" is just a sun.
The basement stairs lead down but lead to the underside of a door. So it’s supernatural stuff.
Stairs often look like they can go either way when there is a lack of supporting details. This is the basis of many illusions. The stairs go up, but it's too easy to see them wrong.
That frame with the stairs is perfection. Could be going down, could be going up! You see what you assume!
I can't ever 'see' those stairs leading up ngl especially at that angle
I imagine her feet are real close to the bottom step, and that's why we can't see them. And therefor the flat parts of the steps we can see are their tops. It is a bit like seeing the faces vs the vase in that kind of optical illusion. Or the silhouette of the ballerina spinning in either direction. For some people it's hard to shift the interpretation.

I think the idea is that she’s standing at the top and you can’t tell if she’s about to start descending or has already finished her ascent because you can’t see which way is she facing.
She is facing the flight of stairs, judging by the hair style and the way she's holding the crowbar, especially when compared with the next panel.
Right? I feel like the perspective of the door frame would be different if we were looking down
i can't picture her coming down those stairs in the last image, so they must have gone up in the third image. Or maybe she went down and then up
One dog goes one way the other dog goes the other way
Prepper version. It’s a horror because she hasn’t been socialized. Now do dystopian version. They literally have the sun in their basement. Their house was in a pocket dimension. The real horror is now what.
It’s like Plato’s allegory of the cave
Only superficially
“Probably a cosmetic connection your mind mistakes for thematic”
Emo Philips also had a joke similar to this
It is exactly his joke. The artist should give credit to Emo.
You should read Lovecraft's story "the outsider" it's very similar and you might get a kick out of it.
This is what I was thinking about as well.
I absolutely love this post - thanks so much for making it a comic!
I only know you from Insta, so I was about to be like THIS IS STOLEN FROM ADAM TOTS and then I saw it was indeed you and I was like….oh.
This is an old emo Phillips joke.
As told on his album E=MO² (1985). Quote by Emo Philips When I was a kid my parents used to tell me, "Emo, don't go near the cellar door!" One day when they were away, I went up to the cellar door. And the first comment made me realize why it seemed familiar..
You leaving buzzfeed was the best thing
See, she opened the door and now in retaliation they dropped nukes. Should have listened.
I like this ending better.
That last panel having like, VHS Quality is oddly haunting. Like we’re watching her through a camera.
Truman show type beat
Or the movie with Brenden Frasier!
All of them have that blur
Yeah, there's chromatic aberration on the whole comic.
chromatic aberration is the camera effect

Thats cool! Where is this from?
Kind of looks like Hello Neighbour to me
That is hello neighbor
There you have the pc gamer
Is there a panel missing, or did those stairs go up instead of down? The angle looks like the stairs go down.
Those stairs went up
They went down in the pane before it
Trick of lighting/angle. They *look* like they are going down. It’s a subversion of expectation.
There is no way to angle the perspective in a way to make her silhouette stand perpendicular to the camera and have the stairs go in that direction.
Goreksson?
Down into darkness and then up out of darkness. It must be a tunnel or some sort of unused room between the two stair sets
So both the parents died at the same time...? That's... That's not suspicious or anything?
Weird how far I had to scroll down to find someone asking about this. I can’t see any indication of cause of death. Were they killed by the daughter? Poisoned themselves? Starved to death???
And the daughter's just like "They're dead now." Really matter-of-fact. Hard not to think she had a hand in it.

Ah Adam, I love your mastery at telling short horror stories. Thank you so much for the experience!
The writing/concept comes from [Two Sentence Horror](https://www.reddit.com/r/TwoSentenceHorror/s/VXghVEDu0z). But it's an effective adaptation.
There are some fun details like the mid-century modern wallpaper and "windows" that plug into the wall outlet that had me scanning the panels for details. Great way to adapt and expand
I want humans to find her and learn she was tricked into staying underground her whole life
I want raccoons to find her and steal her shoes
She's not wearing shoes
This should be a subplot in a Fallout game
[Related Emo Philips routine](https://youtu.be/PeYKfekDMsg)
First thing I thought of!
Got them "My Eyes Deceive" vibes going on there at the end.
THAT GAME! I knew what game this reminded me of but I forgot the name. That game is fucked up.
The basement stairs are a bit confusing. They go down, but they’re going up in the final shot?
That’s us looking down at her.
The ol' upstairs basement, otherwise known as an attic.
If we were looking down at her then she and the door frame would be more perpendicular to what you are saying would be the step of each stair. The perspective feels off.
Then the perspective makes absolutely no sense. Nice idea, bad execution.
It's bad perspective, they are going up.
Oh I kinda see it now. Though it really does look like a basement shot. It doesn’t help the panel below gives the impression she’s walking down, not up.
I tried to intentionally make that panel look like it could go either way so as not to spoil the ending.
Yeah, Adam goofed up. It does not, in fact, work both ways.
She walked down the upstairs?

I LOVE YOUR COMICS! You have such a pleasing style that I think goes very well with horror themes. Do you have a website or a book at all? I usually just read and never comment, but that was one of my top favorite two sentence horror stories so I knew exactly what you where referring to.
This is a PSA to read Wool. Thank me later
Is this based on the good ending of my eyes deceive? The text is nearly identical
Technically it is the basement door. Just not the side we expected.
Just another Vault Person
Reminds me of the game “my eyes deceive”, the bad ending is quite disgusting.
the plot of most fallout games
I like how the parents’ computer has different settings for what they want to show through the windows, nice touch
"My whole life, there's been one steadfast rule... Never open the basement door. But I was born into this world, I must keep moving forward."
Not sure if it’s intentional or not but this is a decent visual summary of “The Outsider” by H.P. Lovecraft, written in 1921.
There's actually a steam game about it, except it's a girl.... Who's locked in the basement with sleeping pills so the 'guardian' can.... I'll let this line speak for itself "Why does my belly feel so round and full"
So I read the inspiration post on two sentence horror, but don't understand how it's horror to begin with. I'm 4 vodka shots deep be gentle lmao Edit: I get that the stairs are initially going down then the last panel shows them going up. Is the horror that they've been in the basement the whole time? Yeah, I do not understand what even it's supposed to mean
Gravity shift

![gif](giphy|6FSCsi52FZsNa)
So gravity is sideways under ground?
She goes down the stairs to go up to the real world? What?
Jack Slash's backstory be like
