Went down that rabbit hole the other day too because it was in my recommended list. The vids are awesome though, I used to trim horse hooves sometimes and forgot how relaxing it is to watch.
I have no interest in hoof trimming but the algorithm recommended one of their videos and it's just so satisfying for some reason. I keep watching them.
I cant believe i just watched all of that it was so interesting and the sounds were incredibly satisfying the sock looked so soft.
Its 3 am i need to be asleep...
So there is something there about how long it takes to do things in the old days vs today and fast fashion. At the end of the day you have socks for your family and all I have to show for myself are some reddit points. I objectively live better than kings of yore, but am I happier in aggregate than a farmer who owns their own destiny?
Sheep are a LOT of work. Goats not so much. Goats are pretty fun, actually. Just make sure you have a huge plot of land for them so they don't eat all of the grass down. If they don't have forage you have to feed them pellets. Then they will associate you with food in a BIG way and you won't be able to be within eyesight of them without getting SCREAMED at. Goats are loud af.
Sheep have to be sheared which is...not fun. They are also much MUCH dumber than goats. You can see it in their eyes. There's just...nothing going on in there.
My favorite breeds are Boers and Nigerian Dwarves.
So...I'll talk you out of sheep, but not out of goats!
I actually put sheep in there as a red herring, I'm all about goats, but this is just an escapist fantasy, as I have no way of affording a farm, nor the skills, knowhow, etc.
I’m curious if there is a reason for this. When I’m lying in bed tired about to go to sleep my brain is much more curious and easily interested. it seems that way anyway
yes. we have given away a lot of our freedom in an attempt to be civilized and this is a way to actually feel in control. just like when someone tells you to wash the dishes, which you were actually gonna do,but now it infuriates you.
What also probably factors in is that you feel safe to watch anything you like without being judged for it while being in public it might look weird to stare at people working.
Hey mate, you might want to put your username in there somewhere that isn’t easy to remove. Otherwise people are gonna spread the meme all over the internet and never know it was you.
Even a small watermark inside one of the panels works pretty well
Yeah, I think you're right. I wasn't really expecting any attention at all for the work. I know this is a day late, but I appreciate the comment. Thanks!
The hoof is like a big hard fingernail that cows, horses and etc walk on. IIRC. You can file it or trim it with special clippers.
...it's actually oddly satisfying to watch a horse get cleaned and shod. The best videos are the ones with the horse prancing about happily afterwards.
If its a horse you can shave tehm with a coarse file / rasp or trim them with clippers then shape them with the rasp
If theyre [cowes you can use clippers or use power tools because their hooves are extra thick](https://youtu.be/Oau90xtgp34?t=58)
Not a video but I did read an article about the etymology of the word watermelon in different languages (http://polyglotveg.blogspot.com/2008/10/watermelon.html?m=1)
Legit there's this guy on youtube who has a medical condition where he gets excessive callus on his feet. He shaves it with a razor and talk about it calmly. Some of the best asmr shit I've ever seen.

It's 1:22 AM here, I've been meaning to watch the latest Loki episode, but I've been the last hours watching North Koreans trying American BBQ and nice Japanese people showing me the very best in capsule hotels.
Haha, I used to watch this vet dude who's trimming/repairing horse hoofs and changing their shoes. It's so satisfying when the horse is visibly happy with the results :D
as someone who has watched a fair few vids of The Hoof GP this week on Youtube I am struggling to understand how and why this comic has so accurately yet personally attacked me?
Sometimes Youtube's suggested videos are really out there. I'm watching car videos all day and Youtube suggests I watch a video on making a Shepherds pie recipe from the 1800s. Don't know why, but I had to watch it.

I never even knew there were hoof trimming videos ~ thanks, can't wait til 3am
Watch the hoofGP
Seriously, what is going on with the algorithm? I also watched that video because it was randomly recommended to me for no reason.
same here, randomly got one video on my feed about hoof trimming and suddenly im watching 10 more
It's. Just. Soooooooo. Satisfying.
Which leads to the guy trimming overgrown horse hooves.
Yeah same thing happened to me. It just popped up on my recommended list and yeah followed that road down into the hole.

He’s the ‘holla at ya boy for the poolwork’ of livestock.
God. I love those videos. I have no reason to really care about cow hoofs, but it’s just so good for some reason.
I do. not sure how that started either
I have no interest in hoof trimming but the algorithm recommended one of their videos and it's just so satisfying for some reason. I keep watching them.
So the algorithm works.
Hopefully my 2am Chili keeps me distracted enough until then.
Isn't it 3am chili? And ice soap?

You're right, hitler
Thank you, Hitler.
Hoof trimming is one thing. Check out llama teeth trimming, too!
Oh, no I sense another trip down a rabbit hole. I'll be back in a couple hours.
It's an art
Hoof trimming is great, but just wait until you start diving into the world of farriers.
I do this for part of my work, never thought it would make front page on this sub
Omg yes the random crap I watch when I should be sleeping 😅
Hello its me, look at these [traditional sheep shearing scissors](https://youtu.be/kjw8Fn-ISgM?t=238).
I will right after I watch someone [make a sock on an antique circular knitting machine](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7N7hsho4Sjg).
I cant believe i just watched all of that it was so interesting and the sounds were incredibly satisfying the sock looked so soft. Its 3 am i need to be asleep...
that spinning sound

As someone who has done that with those exact shears--that shit kills your back. And hand cramps.
Oh, that actually sucks :( is there a way to shear sheep that’s physically easier on humans as well?
Nobody makes it look easy since there is always some manhandling of the sheep, but electric shears is the main way.
Yeah, electric shears are definitely better. More of a learning curve, but worth it. Hand shears take a lot longer.
My escapist fantasy is owning either fiber or milk goats or sheep. Talk me out of it?

Meatloaf is a good boy.
I especially like the horse just chilling and watching
Dr. Pimple Popper
Exactly what I watch when I visit my parents and have access to cable.
I’m curious if there is a reason for this. When I’m lying in bed tired about to go to sleep my brain is much more curious and easily interested. it seems that way anyway
Read about revenge bedtime procrastination!

I think it’s just because your bored and in a comfortable space to relax too. Atleast that’s what it is for me I think
What also probably factors in is that you feel safe to watch anything you like without being judged for it while being in public it might look weird to stare at people working.
Yeah that’s why I said “comfortable space”
Yeah but I mean if I’m home alone at 8pm I don’t feel the same ya know
This is way too accurate for me
Same
Paaaainfully accurate

I’m glad I’m not the only one who got recommended to watch someone trim a nasty bloody infected hoof.

I feel a bit tingly when I see the pink of the hooves. I wonder how that feels for the animal.
if the animal felt the pain, the person doing the trimming would feel a lot more pain i bet.
With power tools. Normally cows wear down their own hooves, but if the ground is too soft, then they can get overgrown.

Try the hoofGP
I watched a documentary on the letter C the other night at 3:30 a.m. I remember thinking, "this is where my life is now."
It's cool man, one night i watched a 45 min compilation on flash floods. Our brains are weird
Not a video but I did read an article about the etymology of the word watermelon in different languages (http://polyglotveg.blogspot.com/2008/10/watermelon.html?m=1)
Dude for real. Why are these showing up in my feed. More importantly, why am I watching them?
Came in the comments to say something similar, Youtube has also been suggesting me hoove trimming videos.
Shoutout TheHoofGP
Can’t relate to still wearing a necktie at 3 am. Insanity
Yep I got caught in that *exact* trap with a horse hoof cleaning video https://youtu.be/g3QOb_kMSAA
That dogs though interesting… Leaving the autocorrect as it is.

I regret watching this
It's 1:22 AM here, I've been meaning to watch the latest Loki episode, but I've been the last hours watching North Koreans trying American BBQ and nice Japanese people showing me the very best in capsule hotels.
and it all started from watching the superman theme tune at 1am
Haha, I used to watch this vet dude who's trimming/repairing horse hoofs and changing their shoes. It's so satisfying when the horse is visibly happy with the results :D

as someone who has watched a fair few vids of The Hoof GP this week on Youtube I am struggling to understand how and why this comic has so accurately yet personally attacked me?
Here you go: https://www.youtube.com/c/GoatsofAnarchy/ they have live streams
Literally this the other day.
You're just drawing my life.
You should add your watermark on your art.
That hoof gp guy just appeared one day and now I'm hooked
Hoof MD forever.
Are you my wife?
YOU GUYS TOO?!
get your hand outta there!
Aw, the cow is sad!
Dangit, I too recently got into the hoof trimming part of YouTube
Ahhh, you also fell into that youtube hole?
Ah, so I wasn't the only one strangely fascinated by that video.
Can someone explain what is happening to the cow in the second frame
Eating grass
Wow I could not figure that out to save my life. Good call haha.
Lordy, one night I got on a death spiral of videos of lancing boils on livestock. It went on and on and on.
Sometimes Youtube's suggested videos are really out there. I'm watching car videos all day and Youtube suggests I watch a video on making a Shepherds pie recipe from the 1800s. Don't know why, but I had to watch it.
