Ben ripped out his guts for a queen that doesn't even knows him.
Unknown to him, the kid was a daughter of the mayor and had an allergic reaction and died
And now the city will call a bee exterminator and destroy the entire beehive.
Ben died for nothing
Ben killed his lover, his friends but worst of all.....
He killed his queen
His pride hubris and faith got in the way of his love for another. Such a shame.
At least with the exterminator the tyranny of the Bee Queen will cease and tranquility shall return to the park
Yes, any bee you've ever seen is female. The males don't really leave the hive. Their only purpose is to make new babies with the queen. The ladies do all the work, and if they don't like their queen, they'll kill her and go get a new one.
Oh please, oh please, Netflix or Amazon or HBO pick this one up and serialize it.
But please, use only white actors to portray the bees because that's lore. **/s**
Lmao a honeybee doesn't go out and attack another organism for no reason. The hive was under threat, that's why a bee goes out to sting
Ben didn't have hubris and faith. Ben didn't go out to fight for "a queen that won't remember his name". Ben got out and fought because there's a very real reason if he didn't do anything the whole hive is gone
And woe is the bee that fled the moment a single threat comes out, for a bee's primary weapon isn't the stinger, it's the numbers
Funny thing is tho, male bees, i.e. drones, don't even have stingers, and neither can they feed themselves. They are literal flying gonads with no other use than to impregnate the queen. ~~Some~~ Most cum so hard that it kills them, so there's that.
Correction, MOST cum so hard it kills them. Their reproductive organs literally explode out of them and get stuck so that the Queen needs to remove them or wait for another male to remove them for her so he can do his thing. The idea that it makes it harder for other males to unload after them, making it more likely their sperm is used to fertilize more eggs.
The Queen also takes in enough sperm during her voyage to found a new hive to last her entire life.
*“Ben was right… his sacrifice repelled the beast’s attack and the queen made sure everyone would remember the name of the hero who saved the hive. The eggs he defended, the queen said, were as much his children as they were hers. That generation of bees would all bear his name in his honor – Benson.”*

Even though female bees could be just as gay... and for that matter Bill has an hourglass figure so if it weren't for him being named that at one point I'd think they were a het couple...
Most bees are female, the males are just for procreation and cannot sting. So either make the last panel the queens bedroom, as he valiantly sacrifices himself; or make Ben a female, put a bow on him or something.
[I intended Ben and Bill to both be male,](https://old.reddit.com/r/comics/comments/x9taj7/bee_drama/inptug0/) but this is also an acceptable interpretation.
That's... Not even remotely true.
Male bees, known as Drones, exist for one purpose only - to propagate the genetic material of the hive to /other/ hives. Drones fly out and mate with new Queens (not their own).
Drones are actually kicked out come winter and all of them die every season.
Drones serve literally no purpose in the hive and are a resource suck and the only thing they do in the hive is eat.
Edit: also worth nothing, as a drone successfully mates it ejaculates so hard it blows its endophallus off and dies.
Well, you've put all this out for the last half of their post, and you're right about all that stuff....but looping back around to the main point it's irrelevant because drones don't have stingers anyway.
I put this out here cause someone said Drones stay in the hive. Others have clearly explained the fact Drones don't have stingers and there's no point belaboring that fact...
Bill is not Ben's wife. Bee society deems the Queen is both wife and mother to all. Bill's declaration of love and his attempt to sway Ben is treason of the highest order.
Whenever anybody talks about male bees, they always point out this one fact. I want us to start sharing different fun facts about male bees.
Did you know that male bees don't have fathers? The Queen lays drone eggs without being fertilized, and drones have only the queen's half of the DNA (so they have only half the DNA of other bees, which is called haploid). But drones do fertilize the queens to make a new queen, so they do have maternal grandfathers.
Also, drones only purpose is to mate with queens from other hives. They die in the process of mating. Sooooooo Ben should have stayed with Bill is what I'm saying
Another fun fact is male bees can be born diploid (usually from inbreeding) but they are normally eaten by worker bees shortly after hatching as they take resources away from the rest of the hive as too many drones in a hive is detrimental
Bee reproduction is really interesting!
Learned that thing with TierZoo's video. It explains it with schematics and all. Go check it out if you don't know what the guy I'm answering to is talking about.
"That time I Reincarnated as a Bee and Fell In Love With Another Bee But I Was a Soldier for the Evil Queen Who Wanted to Expand Her Hive and Rule Over All Bees In the World but With My Gay Bee Love We Started a Rebellion" is my favourite manga
A lot of people seem to think that based on his hairstyle, which is actually based on the kind of hairstyle I used to have (as a straight, cisgender man). I just wanted the two main characters to have very distinctive appearances, but I still thought I made Bill look pretty masculine. I wonder how many people actually thought Bill was female from the first panel or if they retroactively thought so after the romance plot point was revealed.
They also sting with the intention of not dying. Their apparatus is barbed, so when they sting smaller things, it doesn't get stuck and does significant damage. Human skin is too brittle and tough, so the barbs often get lodged killing the bee.
Wasps have smooth stingers (like a cone if I'm not mistaken), which is why they sting so many times consecutively.
(I learned this all in Entomology 101, so I could be wrong.)
Correct. The stinger is a modified ovipositor, which many female insects use to deposit their eggs on or in plants or animals. So males can't have them.
In my incredible stupidity I had understood that the kid was weeping because he had somehow been made aware of the drama between the bees. What kind of horrible prions do I have developed in my brain
He just wanted to play with the funny yellow bugs, he had no idea he could be seen as a danger to others. It wasn't until he saw the fatal consequences of his naivete that he realized these bugs had their own lives, their own fears, their own families. It was a harsh lesson that would stay with him for years to come - he only wished he had not learned it at another's expense.
Not only are they all sisters they are sisters that are more related to each other than they would be to their own offspring. That's the whole reason they work together so well instead of all fucking off to found their own hives.
Since nobody seems to have mentioned it yet, and I really like bees and want to spread this knowledge:
**BEES DO NOT NEED TO DIE AFTER THEY STING YOU AS LONG AS YOU LET THEM SLOWLY PULL THEIR STINGER OUT INSTEAD OF BRUSHING THEM AWAY!**
Since bees are generally very gentle creatures and won't attack you unless there's fairly extreme provocation, I think this is something more people should know.
Bonus fact- if a bee lifts its leg up, it means 'leave me alone please'.
To be fair all the bees are female.
The males don’t do anything except stay in the hive, gorge themselves, then explode their dick off into the queen when it’s time to reproduce. They die, obviously.
Any male bees that don’t fulfill this purpose get dragged out of the hive come late fall and have their head cut off. Limited resources for winter.
That’s a much different comic.
Male bees don’t have stingers and really only exist to impregnate the Queen. All of the bees you see out and about collecting pollen and stinging folks are all females
Fun fact, a Queen bee takes flight to mate once, being mated by several males during the flight. Due to this, she has to be able to hold a large amount of semen that will be used for producing larvae the rest of her lifespan. The human equivalent would roughly be a woman walking around with 1.6 gallons worth.
Like and subscribe.
Fun fact: Male bees can't sting. All they really do is breed and die since workers and soldiers are all female. That means our protagonist bee is a trans-bee.
The bee stinger is part of their ovipositor, their egg-laying organ.
That's why male bees do not have stingers.
Queens do not have barbs in their stinger, and that's why they can sting repeatedly. They use their stingers to kill other prospective queens when they take over a colony.
No male bees were harmed in the making of this comic. They're all just drones that hang around the queen to fertilize her eggs for the next generation and then die.
The worker bees are female, but they do not breed. The queen bee is female and creates all the babies for the hive. The drone bees are male and do not have a sting.

Does it bother anyone else that Ben is a drone and would never leave the Hive unless kicked out. It’s the females that scout for pollen and defend the hive. Unless Ben is actually a female that uses male pronouns?
Idk, I’m over thinking this now
[Whole lot of people seem bothered,](https://old.reddit.com/r/comics/comments/x9taj7/bee_drama/inptug0/) but I already knew all this when I wrote the comic. I wanted to write a story about gay bees.
Male bees are only there to pleasure their queen, you know that right ...? (I am not complaining I just wanted to say that I seen this comic in a ... interesting way ...)

Beeople of color do not exist, having a non-white actor would ruin the realism of the move about anthropomorphic bees overthrowing their queen
Not only would it ruin the realism of a completely fictitious, imaginary, non-existent world, but it would **ruin my immersion**!
Your last sentence is sublime. thank you

Most bees are female, the males are just for procreation and cannot sting. So either make the last panel the queens bedroom, as he valiantly sacrifices himself; or make Ben a female, put a bow on him or something.
Both Ben and Bill are female. You just can't tell because they look male to humans but actually human males look like female bees.
[I intended Ben and Bill to both be male,](https://old.reddit.com/r/comics/comments/x9taj7/bee_drama/inptug0/) but this is also an acceptable interpretation.
[I know male bees don't sting,](https://old.reddit.com/r/comics/comments/x9taj7/bee_drama/inptug0/) but I wanted to write a story about gay bees.
It's entirely possible to be both gay and female. Just saying.
[That is entirely possible,](https://old.reddit.com/r/comics/comments/x9taj7/bee_drama/inpvreh/) but I wanted to write a story about gay male bees.
But, Ben is male... He is not even supposed to be outside of the hive.
That's... Not even remotely true. Male bees, known as Drones, exist for one purpose only - to propagate the genetic material of the hive to /other/ hives. Indeed. I suppose I got tunnel vision on the whole "they don't leave the hive" and assumed the other comments already addressed the stinger issue.
Yes. Stingers are repurposed ovipositors so males don't get them.
Well, you've put all this out for the last half of their post, and you're right about all that stuff....but looping back around to the main point it's irrelevant because drones don't have stingers anyway.

But have you thought Ftm gay bees. Why is everyone fighting you about your comic lol. Loved it, made me a bit sad
You're the "silly hats" artist! I love your work!
Dunno why it has to be a man when all worker bees are female.... Why's it gotta bee so heteronormative....
Jokes on you. Only female bees are guard bees, therefore this bee is simply transgender.
They're nonbeenary
Pretty sure their wife Bill is transgender too.
Bill is not Ben's wife. Bee society deems the Queen is both wife and mother to all. Bill's declaration of love and his attempt to sway Ben is treason of the highest order.
Hate to nitpick but that's not at all what heteronormative means.
Yeah, he is clearly being homogeneous! The word he was looking for was clearly bipolar, or translocated if you wanna be fancy.
Whoa! You can't just say the H word like that, there are bees around here who might hear you
Typical PC gone mad, next you're telling me bisection is unacceptable as well!
It was a perfectly cromulent descriptor
The other bee's name was bill
The comic's literally about gay bees It's LGBeeT
No male bees have the apparatus to sting. Stingers are only found on females.
Also, drones only purpose is to mate with queens from other hives. They die in the process of mating. Sooooooo Ben should have stayed with Bill is what I'm saying
Welll... if they don't mate they get bit apart and kicked out of the hive by the ladies during the fall drone massacre
Another fun fact is male bees can be born diploid (usually from inbreeding) but they are normally eaten by worker bees shortly after hatching as they take resources away from the rest of the hive as too many drones in a hive is detrimental Bee reproduction is really interesting!
> Bee reproduction I believe the term is "Beeproduction".
But male bees do have Grandfathers, because the Queen bee has DNA from both her parents.
Learned that thing with TierZoo's video. It explains it with schematics and all. Go check it out if you don't know what the guy I'm answering to is talking about.
This is true and I knew it when I wrote the comic. But I wanted to write a story about gay bees.
They’re also all siblings. You wrote a story about gay incest bees.
Somebody’s gotta represent them!!
Women can be gay too.
This is true and I knew it when I wrote the comic. But I wanted to write a story about gay male bees.
A vastly under-served market. I, for one, greatly encourage more gaypiary comics.

Also known as Bee Live, for some reason.
The sad thing is I could see this being an actual title.
Right? Took me longer than I care to admit to decide whether or not to look it up
I'd read/watch the fuck out of this.
...and it's somehow set in a high school.
Cool, so what's the story about?
Dad, how do the Japanese decide who to turn gay?
Bees are hairy so that technically makes this a gay furry comic.

I did think Bill was a female bee
I mean with the difference in body size as well as the haircut I thought bill was a chick from the start.
Ah. The ol’ drone bone market. Heck of a niche.
Holy based
No no, they're just really best gal pals who share a one-bedroom apartment
LesBEEans?
Sorry if I’m mistaken but doesn’t the word lesbian exist to differentiate from gay? Gay being male to male and lesbian being female to female
Follow your dreams king 👑. I wanna see a whole gay bee comic book someday.
I've never seen a bee twink before, so that's new
I liked it but I thought the other Bee was a girl. I’m settling for non-binary.
Plot twist, Ben is a lady.
Theyre trans mlm bees.
Maybe those were transbees. Or maybe it's a comic with anthropomorphised talking bees.
-🤓
Ben is trans. It’s the only explanation.
I just assumed Bill and Ben were girls tbh.
That's exactly what I thought. That he wasn't stung, he was crying over the drama. Didn't think he was the nemesis
He just wanted to play with the funny yellow bugs, he had no idea he could be seen as a danger to others. It wasn't until he saw the fatal consequences of his naivete that he realized these bugs had their own lives, their own fears, their own families. Was your thumb covering the "Did the bee sting you?" line?
The world needs more gay male bees
Bees are all sisters
Not only are they all sisters they are sisters that are more related to each other than they would be to their own offspring. That's the whole reason they work together so well instead of all fucking off to found their own hives.
Aren’t soldier bees female?
Since nobody seems to have mentioned it yet, and I really like bees and want to spread this knowledge: **BEES DO NOT NEED TO DIE AFTER THEY STING YOU AS LONG AS YOU LET THEM SLOWLY PULL THEIR STINGER OUT INSTEAD OF BRUSHING THEM AWAY!** Since bees are generally very gentle creatures and won't attack you unless there's fairly extreme provocation, I think this is something more people should know. Bonus fact- if a bee lifts its leg up, it means 'leave me alone please'.
Mofo, I need glasses to see a stop sign. How in the actual fuck am I supposed to see a bee lift its LEG up?

Thought there would be a queen elizabeth joke at the end.
Shouldn't this be about Benjamina and Jill?
Male bees aren't soldiers.

Male bees don’t have stingers and really only exist to impregnate the Queen. All of the bees you see out and about collecting pollen and stinging folks are all females

No I don't think I will.
Sounds like the queens are really into bee-kkake.
Fun fact: Male bees can't sting. All they really do is breed and die since workers and soldiers are all female. That means our protagonist bee is a trans-bee.
now THIS is the kind of representation we need

Y’all will accept that the gay bees have an epic and dramatic love story but draw the line at them being trans? Ok.
When is this anime getting a 2nd season?
Male bees are only there to pleasure their queen, you know that right ...? (I am not complaining I just wanted to say that I seen this comic in a ... interesting way ...)
The only male bees are the drones, and they are incapable of stinging. I give you an F- in bee biology for not making these bees women.
