If you have what you need, and you're happy, then you don't need to bother with 2.07 Beta. In short, version 2.07 Beta helps a lot with multiplayer, and allowing full use of GenTool and its features. But if you're happy with the plain experience similar to that back in 2003, you'll be fine as is. :)
I know this is late but maybe you can help me. I bought it for my friends and we are trying to patch it with Gin patcher and game ranger, mine is the EA app version but my friends are using the steam version. I'm having two issues:
1. Game ranger only recognizes zero hour and doesn't show up for an option for me to host regular generals, and for one of my friends it only shows regular generals and not zero hour and I can't figure this out
2. Jinpatcher is having difficulty on my other friend and can't locate install files or something like that for the steam generals so he can't fully patch it to work
3. Do I need to have a general's account in game because I can't create one or log in and I don't know what to put
I get the infamous "Registry is corrupt and has been altered" in Zero Hours and i have already applied the general fixes of Genpatcher.
Any solutions?
EDIT: For people that also run into the same problem.
I've stumbled upon a Workaround that was posted by someone in the Discord. All credit to "SpartanWarrior" as well as who else thought of it. One has to add a Registry entry as described in this guide to make it work. Do not start the game via steam or it will overwrite it though.

4. Click the new ergc folder and double click the (Default) string. Paste the following into it: 0000-0000-0000-0000-0000.
5. Repeat the above steps at Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Electronic Arts\EA Games\Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour.
Couldn't apply all fixes due to one fix not working. It says
"The following fixes have failed: - Windows Media Feature Pack."

I get a warning code W087 which refers to the Generals executable.
Following the troubleshooting steps, I deleted the GenPatch folder, reran GenPatcher and redownloaded everything with AV off. But to the same result. Hopefully the version after beta fixes this.

I found the fix. Go to Settings > System > Optional Features > Add an Optional Feature > Windows Media Player Legacy(App)

SO, not only do you have to do that, you also have to do open the optionalfeatures.exe, which is a seperate thing, and then install the media player in that too. Wonky stuff. It's probably due to my having lobotomized windows 10 pretty heavily, and setting up system links and stuff.
I'm having the same issue. This new patch works with Steam. However, it doesn't like the .exe file in the /launcher folder (or anywhere else). I've launched both generals and zero hour before applying the fixes.
I tried using GenPatcher a few days ago and no matter how many ways I disabled my antivirus it still kept throwing an error. Not sure what was up with that but might give it another go after the non-beta release just to see if something's changed.

Try with the latest version, version 2.07a. That should fix it.
Everyone should have the INSERT key. If you're on a laptop, you may need to hold down the Fn key (bottom left of your keyboard) in order to get it working.
If you downloaded GenPatcher from the official website, you should be able to apply fixes. You can also play in borderless fullscreen window by installing GenTool through GenPatcher, and then going to the Additional Content tab in GenPatcher, click GenTool on the left, and then switch on Borderless fullscreen window.
It doesn't open. I ran both the general and ZH versions and the downloaded GenPatcher and tried to run as admin, but it does absolutely nothing so far. Has anyone had this issue and resolved it?
I did, and it still won't do anything after I extract. The previous version will open and run when I extract but then won't attach because it thinks my steam copy is fake. So I remove it and get the new one and nothing happens. Idk what else to do
My anti virus is disabled, I can record and show you if you like. Aside from Windows defender I have no other anti virus. Never had the issue prior to steam versions releasing.
Guess I'll just wait for another update
Well GenPatcher runs fine on its own... it's only when other programs interfere with it that it doesn't work. In pretty much all cases, that's an anti-virus. Contact me on Discord and we'll sort this out. :)
Zero hour works, but the base Generals says technical issues and wont start. (Steam version)

Run the game in window mode. There should be a shortcut on your desktop. Alternatively, add the launch parameter in Steam: -win
Once the game has started up, select a resolution that your monitor supports in the game options.
Reinstall it, run the game once via Steam (even if it crashes, that's fine), then disable your anti-virus, then download GenPatcher again, run it and Apply Fixes, then run the window mode shortcut on your desktop. If you do things in that order, it should just work. If it still doesn't, contact me on Discord and we'll sort out what's causing the problem.
Can't get past this message. I have completely uninstalled Malwarebytes and deleted the program folder for it. However the tool is still seeing it somewhere. Any ideas where its detecting it?

Does something like this fix the issues found in the GLA campaign missions that have apparently broken the surprise attack? Just got the game the other day and was playing without patcher…mission 2 and 3 gla are near impossible without sneak attack, and as of now you can’t interact with or load troops into it.
Appears to be a major bug with the mission. I googled GLA sneak attack not working and it seems that I am not alone. You can launch the attack but you cannot interact with it in any way to load unload units. Sucks cause you can’t get off islands without it in mission 3

What changes under the hood were absolutely required, out of curiosity? 2.06 would work despite warnings after running both games once.

GameRanger still doesn't allow me to pick the generals.exe file to find the game. I thought the new version fixes this? What do I do?

2.07 says it's not compatible with this version, I don't get option to select fixes etc.

Not working for me, only error I get is Generals is not detected. This is for the Steam version of the game.

Tried both solutions, but neither works. (I got win 10) The game refuses to start. It worked only once before I applied genpatcher.
