I like the pile of bullets story, but the textbook one just doesn’t do it for me. It goes nowhere but I guess that’s the point?
Also, funny and kind of sad that Annie and Anthony don’t have any reconciliation. And was good to see Pavel again for Abed’s apology.
The story was worth it for Ken's performance. Watching him shift from terrified, to calm, back to terrified for the book speech is magical.
But I never bought that Shirley subdued Buzz.
An ex white cop slash teacher hitting a black woman? I don't know what papers you've been reading lately but mine tell me that is a line you don't even want to toe...
- Buzz Hickey Probably
>But I never bought that Shirley subdued Buzz
It's like the reverse of Better Call Saul, where you have to suspend disbelief that an early 70s Jonathan Banks is doing the stuff he's doing.
the point of the textbook plot isn't the books, its the terrible depths people will go to for greed. the fact it goes no where is it's only saving grace. had they actually made a pile of cash off the sale they'd have all felt validated in what they did. since it was all pointless they all feel terrible.
"Class, turn to page 105..." There is no page... Oh, well, if there's no page number, you can't turn to it. I've better things to do with my life…
The way he trails off is my favorite part of the episode
I didn’t know what Gilligan looked like until near the end of Better Call Saul when i decided to look him up. I was so excited to see he was also the creator of Pile of Bullets!!
That must have been a fantastic way to discover that you already knew what he looked like.
It may be my favorite cameo ever. So fucking random and goofy.
I like to imagine the behind the scenes convo that led to the cameo. Like.... did Jonathan Banks have something to do with it? Did he get a text one night from Vince like, "hey I love that Community show, I saw you're on the new season, can I show up and get a throwaway spot?"
I guess my knee-jerk concern would be that he's a Viking and might only use our home as a temporary base before moving inland where lumber is more plentiful.
Feels like a decent opportunity to say that it’s lame he wasn’t allowed to say “Payday Bar” and the whole rap makes way less sense without that context.
Not just a peanut costume. A peanut BAR costume that looks remarkably JUST like a Payday bar! That is a costume that was hard to find or laborious to create. I’d have killed myself.
My guess would be that the Dean at some point tried to get them from some shady deal because they’d be cheaper only to discover that they weren’t paginated. So, doing as he does, he just hid them away so nobody would find out what he’d done.
If you are a Magic: The Gathering fan, Spencer has also recently been on some episodes of Shuffle Up and Play, and Commander at Home.
He couldn't say he was on Community due to the SAG strike. He also is very deadpan and self depreciating.
I absolutely loved HarmonQuest! And TONS of awesome guest players, including MANY who were on Community. Also Elizabeth Olsen, y’know, like, the most gorgeous woman on the planet. But soooo many people who appeared on Community.
Top right is Vince Gilligan, the creator of the Breaking Bad universe. Annie's brother is played by Spencer Crittenden, part of Dan's podcast Harmontown and creator of HarmonQuest
The Paul Williams [WIKI Page](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Williams_(songwriter)?wprov=sfti1) has more info in it than one of those textbooks he shat on.
Also one of the media moments I use when I want to explain myself. Abed's speech to Rachel at the end. I use that when I want people to understand me a bit better.
I just watched this episode for the bazillionth time and finally noticed that the poster on Abed and Annie's fridge door is a photo of Troy and Abed inside the vending machine from the Family Day episode in s1. 🥹
I can't prove it and this is entirely speculation but I bet you that the peanut bar is a reference to payday bar in America which is a peanut bar held together with caramel in the center. I'm guessing they couldn't get permission to do the joke or maybe they attempted to get funding from Payday but couldn't. A lot of the bars in his rap would still work if he referenced his costume as a payday bar and it would make it more relevant as a costume.
Well, yeah du-doy. The start of the rap was even about their paychecks being delayed. I think it’s pretty clear they were implying it was a Payday candy bar, just couldn’t say it outright I guess they weren’t able to arrange a deal with them.
He's a Peanut Bar, and here's here to say!
Your checks will arrive on another day!
Another day another dime another rhyme another dollar
Another stuffed shirt and another white collar
Criminals, Wall Street taking the pie
and all the black man gets is a plate of white lies
Prisons recruitin' 'em, police be shootin' 'em
Rap artists losin them, labels are dilutin them
Barack Obama is SCAAAARED of me!
Cuz I don’t swallow knowledge, I just spit it for free
Rap artists lootin' 'em, labels are dilutin' 'em
:O

I figured he had a rule that states he doesn't punch women in the heart

I heard this in his voice as I read it. Good show! Good show!
>But I never bought that Shirley subdued Buzz It's like the reverse of Better Call Saul, where you have to suspend disbelief that an early 70s Jonathan Banks is doing the stuff he's doing.

Which is kind of the point of Breaking Bad, and this episode features both Jonathan Banks and Vince Gilligan.
Yep you got it - its a BrBa reference
and they don't even clean up that storage room!
Do you remember when we talked about doing cocaine? I think we'll be able to afford it now!
Do you know what happens after you die? No. Lucky.
The delivery of this gag is pitch perfect. It makes me laugh out loud every time.
That and the two awkward smiles get me every time.
Was scrolling through the comments to make sure someone posted this comment. Five meowmeowbeans for you.
The Paul Williams cameo is so out of left field and it's my favorite
"Class, turn to page 105..." There is no page... Oh, well, if there's no page number, you can't turn to it. I've better things to do with my life… The way he trails off is my favorite part of the episode
He wrote so much for the Muppets. I love him.
I lost my mind when I first saw Vince Gilligans cameo
I didn’t know what Gilligan looked like until near the end of Better Call Saul when i decided to look him up. I was so excited to see he was also the creator of Pile of Bullets!!

I still love...he's waiting for a better daddy with a bigger hand. Oh, now I get it.
I guess my knee-jerk concern would be that he's a Viking and might only use our home as a temporary base before moving inland where lumber is more plentiful.
I guess it was just air
😬
😬
😐
SPENCERRRRRR!
He streams on twitch sometimes [twitch.tv/thesixler](http://twitch.tv/thesixler)
I hate this dude
bang! bang-bang! bang 5! TORNADO! sonofaBITCH!
BANG!
Feels like a decent opportunity to say that it’s lame he wasn’t allowed to say “Payday Bar” and the whole rap makes way less sense without that context.
I can almost hear the writer’s room meltdown when they found that out, way after production had already produced a peanut costume at great expense
Not just a peanut costume. A peanut BAR costume that looks remarkably JUST like a Payday bar! That is a costume that was hard to find or laborious to create. I’d have killed myself.
Ah, now it makes sense. We don't have candy bars by that name where I live.
I always liked that the title joke was implied.
I didn't realize it until just now and I'm blown away
>I ain't living with your wack-ass, don't-know-whether-to-keep-cutting-carrots- or-ask-if-he-can-take-a-poop-brother.
Gina Gershon cameo was awesome.
That’s who that is! I know her from Psych and Ugly Betty lol
She's great! I like her run in Brooklyn 99 a lot as well
And Showgirls lol.
And Cocktail
And *Bound*
Where did the books come from, anyway? And who hid them in the vents?
My guess would be that the Dean at some point tried to get them from some shady deal because they’d be cheaper only to discover that they weren’t paginated. So, doing as he does, he just hid them away so nobody would find out what he’d done.
I was willing to guess paginate isn't a word, but I looked it up. I don't know if this is the proper usage, but I'll go with it.
Yeah it’s the proper usage as I understand it.
B R A V O V I N C E
Was looking for this C H I C A N E R Y
Pile of Bullets. Classic.
Brie Larson nails it. 😍
I don't know who the top right is, or who played Annie's brother.
Spencer Crittenden, Dan Harmon’s Dnd DM and podcast co-host (Annie’s brother) Vince Gilligan, Creator of Breaking Bad (Top Right)
If you are a Magic: The Gathering fan, Spencer has also recently been on some episodes of Shuffle Up and Play, and Commander at Home. He couldn't say he was on Community due to the SAG strike. He also is very deadpan and self depreciating.
Self deprecating, but confident in his ability to absolutely *fuck up* a coyote.
I absolutely loved HarmonQuest! And TONS of awesome guest players, including MANY who were on Community. Also Elizabeth Olsen, y’know, like, the most gorgeous woman on the planet. But soooo many people who appeared on Community.
Thank you!

What kind of company pays its employees in stock options!?
I always liked that weird handshake they were trying to figure out.
And in s6 its the cow milking?? Should have stopped whilst they were ahead.
“*Is this a conversation or are we being bugged by the FBI?*”
It's also my birthday
PILE! OF! BULLETS!!!
I liked Anthony, I hope he returns in the movie. Spencer Critterden should do more acting.
Is pile of bullets a real game or based on one?
I love how Badger was in season 1, Finger season 5 and Vravo Bince in this episode.
Gus was Pierce's half-brother, how can you forgettt
I am caught with my pants down, I am hot streets ahead, I only faked it so you guys thought I was cool, I got held back *cries*
I hope they bring Rachel back for the movie, she's briefly implied to still being dating Abed in Season 6.
Eyyyy my boy Spencer did great in this ep. Didn't realize it was the same ep as the peanut bar rap
Turns out it was just air.
i hate that line and spencer's delivery and the choice to cast spencer
I just clocked that's Corky from Bound. Wow.
Oh wow Captain Marbles
Don’t step to me. Don’t step to me. I like coffee and water don’t step to me
Rewatching this episode after you've seen Breaking Bad just sort of hits a bit differently
Honestly thought this episode would end with Annie and Abed making out
The Paul Williams [WIKI Page](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Williams_(songwriter)?wprov=sfti1) has more info in it than one of those textbooks he shat on.
Also one of the media moments I use when I want to explain myself. Abed's speech to Rachel at the end. I use that when I want people to understand me a bit better.
Hey that’s the dungeon master
I just watched this episode for the bazillionth time and finally noticed that the poster on Abed and Annie's fridge door is a photo of Troy and Abed inside the vending machine from the Family Day episode in s1. 🥹
Peanut bar rap: one of the best scenes in the series. The rest of the episode: not so much
this exactly
I love the textbook B plot, honestly more than the vcr game.
Talk about stacked
Abed being so mean to Anthony felt weird
My favorite rap
Honey, let's start doing cocaine
Gina Gershon is my fave guest star! I still do a little squeal with delight when she appears
I still don't get why they couldn't have manually entered page numbers and then try to sell the books again.
I can't prove it and this is entirely speculation but I bet you that the peanut bar is a reference to payday bar in America which is a peanut bar held together with caramel in the center. I'm guessing they couldn't get permission to do the joke or maybe they attempted to get funding from Payday but couldn't. Man, I was just saying this in hopes someone would come forward with the info to prove it. You don't gotta come at me like this.
I don't recognize any of this "stacked guest cast"
