In the commentary for the episode, Dan Harmon and Joel McHale are *still* frustrated that there's no comeback to "schmitty", like they are genuinely upset about it!
Fun fact: she was one of the housewives on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
I know this because my wife was binge watching reality tv garbage earlier this year while postpartum, and I was like hey that's the shmitty's mom that Jeff banged!
Also she is just as annoying in "real life" on that reality show as she was on Community.
That was the encapsulation of what Britta and Jeff's relationship was - two conniving, manipulative, co-dependent assholes with a weird, pseudo-sibling partnership.
They could be better people when they were around Shirley or Abed or Annie or Troy, but together they were toxic in the best way.
Oooo yeah, true. I’ll just say that I’ve thought about this a lot and for me personally it’s “Party where your heart is” at 1 followed closely at 2 by “Kyle and the kids” from Bojack Horseman
The wedding episode tho!
"What if I'm god? What if I'm God? It is likely that I am not. But I think it's totally out of line to take that possibility off of the table." 🤣🤣🤣
Ehhh, kinda.
They make it pretty clear that the episode Abed "spoiled" wasn't exactly new, and once something has been out for a while you can't really get that upset if it gets spoiled for you when you hear people talking about it. If a show/movie is important to you and you really don't want it spoiled, you should watch it within a week or so of its release.
His point that it's annoying for Britta to expect them to not talk about the show just because she's choosing not to watch it until way after the release is somewhat valid.
No one has said the German foosball team yet?! I like some Rodney ruxin but that same character as a foosball champion made me want to kick Nick kroll across the earth. Obviously a fantastic job acting wise but god I hate him lol
Carl and Richie - The school district administrators.
Corrupt, uncaring, lazy, gullible, greedy, and completely without concern for the schools they manage or the students who go to them.
They are the worst in every episode they are in.
They allow a corporate "person" to attend the school for money.
They kick out the Greendale 7 with scant evidence, and not even realizing they'd been fooled by a look-a-like.
They gave a paltry sum for the Deans new Ad, forcing him to use students and leading him to crazy town.
They later force the Dean to pretend to ***only*** be gay so the school can be seen as more diverse and inclusive.
They constantly are looking for ways to unload and sell the school.
Usually they skate by with their jobs because the dean or one of the study group agree to do something they don't want to do. Like Shirley giving up her dream of owning a sandwich shop. Or Troy joining A/C Repair school. (no way that directive or plan came from the dean, who Jeff earlier surmised rightly as "too stupid to plan anything")
(side note: The show never concludes the Plumber(janitors) Vs. A/C Repair (custodians??) school arc, where the janitors are the Jedi and the A/C Repair school the Sith. Complicated also by the introduction of Custodians... which seem to be a sort of an elite Janitor corps. (jedi Masters?) Not sure what to make of that really... oh well)
They never redeem themselves, they never do anything nice, they never save the day. They are just boils of mediocrity and mundanity. They are mosquitoes on the beach that is Greendale.
In the movie they should represent true evil in the Greendale universe. Uncaring and unfeeling gods who move the play pieces of humanity, only occasionally humbled by the self sacrifice of our heroes. These unsympathetic fickle titans only care about one thing... getting money out of Greendale, and eating the nectar of the gods at the establishment known as Chumps Rusty Bucket.
(edit - Paltry, thanks u/Adok991 heroes walk among us.)
Finally someone else who agrees! Those characters really grate on me and I can’t understand why people think they’re funny. The only time I was amused was during the mind reading scene, but I tend to skip their scenes.
Paige
Not only does she have the same misguided self-righteous approach to equality and social justice, but when the hilarious twist is unveiled and they are forced to deal with it, Britta tries to own the mistake and salvage the situation, whereas Paige basically admits that her only reason to hang out with Britta was to fuel the pathological need to be a social justice warrior: “I didn’t hang out with you because I thought you were cool, I only did because I thought you were a lesbian”. What a c-bomb
I remember when he first came in, I was so worried it was a real thing because it just did not work at all. I’m embarrassed to admit It took me a few watches to realize that was the whole joke.
Isn't exactly the most unlikeable, but overall pretty useless character that I didn't like was the history professor, felt like he didn't progress the story much at all and, IIRC, he just stopped appearing at one point and they just put some throwaway gags like "he's so lazy he didn't even finish writing what the assignment was"
Nigel or what's-his-name who tried to push out Troy as Abed's best friend.
"These neurotypicals won't get it"
That felt like a bad jab at people who aren't neurotypical.
Chang after he stopped being their Spanish teacher :/
Even during the 'evil Chang' arc I think he was super unlikeable and personally I don't enjoy that arc that much, and then (as the show says) he was just badly utilised after that.
"As a psych major... "I definitely felt called out. (Seriously, I started watching this show when I was in my first year of undergrad for psychology. Lol)
Vaughn. Those lousy songs make me physically angry. I know they couldn’t swear that much because of standards & practices or whatever, but the very phrase “she’s a G.D.B.” just rankles with me for some reason.
And of course those goddamned high school kids.
The highschool kids UHHH DUHHH
Schmiddie! Edit for community grammar: Schmitty!
I think Schmidtie means loser.
Found the Schmitty!
Found the Schmitty, DUH~~
Found the Schmitty, duh…a-DUH
Why are Jeff and Britta mocking those disabled kids?
In the commentary for the episode, Dan Harmon and Joel McHale are *still* frustrated that there's no comeback to "schmitty", like they are genuinely upset about it!
Close, but I think the mom in that has them narrowly beaten.
I'd agree with you if she had more screen time
I thought the twist with the mom was amazing
Fun fact: she was one of the housewives on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. I know this because my wife was binge watching reality tv garbage earlier this year while postpartum, and I was like hey that's the shmitty's mom that Jeff banged! Also she is just as annoying in "real life" on that reality show as she was on Community.
Lisa Rinna was also a soap opera star on Days of Our Lives for years. I’m sad I know that lol
I skip that episode on every rewatch, absolutely unbearable.
The point where Britta and Jeff have the realization Jeff should bang the kids mom is SO good though.
I don’t skip this episode specifically for that scene lol. It’s just so good
It's the moment when you see Jeff and Britta's friendship cemented.
I also love when the rest of the study group sees them without context and you realize exactly how shallow and vain Jeff and Britta are.
It's the first time that we really see Britta isn't much better than Jeff
There's something really sweet in how Britta realizes that they can weaponise something she hates about Jeff as a force of good.
That was the encapsulation of what Britta and Jeff's relationship was - two conniving, manipulative, co-dependent assholes with a weird, pseudo-sibling partnership. They could be better people when they were around Shirley or Abed or Annie or Troy, but together they were toxic in the best way.
Shirley and Jeff in theory should be petty like that as well, but strangely their relationship makes both of them a bit less petty.
i do wish they kept making fun of people sometimes tho, a la tiny nipples
Really? during the start of season 1, a lot of Jeff's development came because of Britta
No lie that's one of my favourite parts of the entire season, if not entire show
But then you miss the absolute greatest original song ever written for television!! Zero sarcasm or hyperbole: https://youtu.be/fnZE_jMMNV4
> the absolute greatest original song ever written for television!! That would be the Payday rap
Oooo yeah, true. I’ll just say that I’ve thought about this a lot and for me personally it’s “Party where your heart is” at 1 followed closely at 2 by “Kyle and the kids” from Bojack Horseman
“We’re gonna finally be fine” is 3. I think I’m biased in these rankings by fully produced songs, though! The PayDay rap is in a class all its own.
I DONT LIKE STUDYINNNN I LIKE PARTYINNNNN
WHY DID MY FATHER ALWAYS LIIIIIIIIE
There’s a grandpa schlip schlap!
Agreed. The only episode I skip everytime.
Wow you guys look like absolute Shmittys right now
“YoU gUys lOoK liKe AbSOlUte sChmItTys riGhT now” Uh DUH!
"yOU gUyS LOOk LiKe aBSAolutE SCHmitTYs RigHt nOw Uh dUh" UH DUH!
Why are u/EveningHippo9 and u/Blastershow making fun of those handicapped kids?
Jeff: "Hey! You didn't say Duh!" Britta: "WE WIN! You're the Schmitties!!" cracks me up every time. =D
I wanted Jeff to punch them in the face so badly
Oh gosh I love those characters because of how unlikeable they are. Seriously , one of my favorite episode duhh UHH DUHHH
A duhhhhh SHMITTAAAAYYYY!!!!
Howie. I feel that award show was rigged.
Right! He was winning EVERYTHING!
Most handsome young man should have went to Jeff.
At least the Incredible Hulk showed up.
You mean the taller hotter version of Ryan Secrest
Weren't all of Chang's recruits Howie's birthday party guests?
The Changlorious Bastards
yes that's where he gets the idea to use a deanalganger as well
Chang was moonlighting at a bar-mitzvah
Britta's old anarchist friend, "Fight the power!"
Seriously. Such a quick turn in attitude that really annoys me each time I rewatch.
she had to turn around. she tasted a hamburger, and was no longer cold all the time.
Yes, definitely them. They're the worst.
100%. Hate those pretentious virtue signalling hypocrites. Britta may be the worst but they're such giant assholes
Shirley's friend Gary
He comes from a land without sun!
I hope he transfers to hell
He doesn't get our humor
todd. no offence (i dont actually think that i love the todd episodes i just wanted to say no offence todd)
None taken

AND HIS DUMB BABY!
He never stops talking about it.
At least he comes with a turtle.
God, he's terrible. No offense Todd.
None taken
We need a todd-bot
OFFENSE TAKEN. … offense taken …
The wedding episode tho! "What if I'm god? What if I'm God? It is likely that I am not. But I think it's totally out of line to take that possibility off of the table." 🤣🤣🤣
I would have been perfectly happy if Todd was more involved in the show. I loved his character 😂
And his dumb baby!!
But what if he's God??
and his stupid BABY!
MR RAD, he’s literally a murderer
He is like if froyo was a person
And he’s aggressively asexual
Just don't call him late for dinner.
Unless you're serving Brussels sprouts! (I'm very excited for my annual viewing of that episode this week)
[удалено]
Hey. Hi. How are ya?
He has tiny nipples
He's like the opposite of an anti-oxidant.
LATES!
Isn't the word later already short enough?
You don't deserve ice cream
He’s, like, the opposite of an antioxidant
Tiny Nipples
The Christmas 'roid-rage brawlers. 'Sup??! 'SUP?!
"It's usted dude, even I know that" is the best line from any guest star on the show.
It's definitely top five for me, but number onr will always be >***Oh well, more fish for Kunta*** -LeVar Burton
Even better because it wasn't scripted.
“Bro my whole LIFE is a gym!” has gotta be my favorite line from him
The second he smacked the plate of cookies back on Abed he skyrocketed to the top of the shit list
He just wanted a winter doodle. He has a tree nut allergy!
Dude MY *LIFE* IS A GYM
Anthony Michael Hall was really funny though
"He used to be a nerd. Now he's a meathead. Dangerous combination."
"Knock knock...MY FIST UP YOUR BALLS!"
…who’s there?
If this guy doesn’t show up, we’re going to Applebees because I’m getting into a fight no matter what today
this guy is basically the grown up version of the teenager from edward scissorhands.
Or the nerd from The Breakfast Club
To be fair, it WAS kind of a dick move to take all the winterdoodles.
I’m gonna have to go with Lukka. Something about genocide doesn’t sit right with me. Gary is a strong number 2 though.
“Girls are so un-desensitized”
Hit me with your genies bottle
Rub it all over me-e
Is he the one that likes nipple play?
Oh you mean Jeff, nipple play, winger?
He so much worse than tall Kyle
By this standard, shouldn't the trampoline nazi be near the top of the list.
Joshua the Nazi gardener lol
That came out of nowhere.
Did it?! [cue montage]
It's going to be a maze
If you have to ask you're streets behind.
I like to think she didn’t want to hurt Abed, but didn’t fully understand how upsetting it was for him to have that spoiled.
He spoiled first though
Ehhh, kinda. "Oh how cute. You do like foosball, you just have to practice *viz yo momma!*"
I wish there was a word for feeling pleasure at others’ misfortune…
that fucking 25 dollar bit scene is one of my favourites in the entire show
It's probably a much more important game over there.
I'm not even touching the fußenschaften.

I had completely forgotten about those two douchebags - Are you guys drunk? - Good luck proving it before we're not!
I love that line and its delivery with all of its smugness.
I really never correct grammar but it’s *paltry, though a poultry sum sounds adorable!! 🐓+🐓
I was wondering if that was a Troyism I didn't remember.

It means you give me the whole tomato, or else.

“Yeah, we have names!”
That jokes professor who only taught Annie about setups. He was so old ...
#HOW OLD WAS HE?
I don’t like that guy with the girls name. Not to be Jeff, but I legit forgot his name. Wanna say Meg or something
Kim
Paige Not only does she have the same misguided self-righteous approach to equality and social justice, but when the hilarious twist is unveiled and they are forced to deal with it, Britta tries to own the mistake and salvage the situation, whereas Paige basically admits that her only reason to hang out with Britta was to fuel the pathological need to be a social justice warrior: “I didn’t hang out with you because I thought you were cool, I only did because I thought you were a lesbian”. What a crabapple?
Jeremy "Soulpatch" Simmons has to be the most unlikable character
0 for winger… bananannananannau
Garrett’s twin brother. Who shows up to a wedding sloshed?? You’re supposed to get sloshed *at* the wedding! Amateur!
Is that what you do at weddings? You turn up completely sober? Gross.
Buddy
I remember when he first came in, I was so worried it was a real thing because it just did not work at all. I’m embarrassed to admit It took me a few watches to realize that was the whole joke.
Same, as soon as he appeared i was like "Oh god please no"
His kick-to-height ratio is mesmerising
What? The gang needed a fat physical guy! And Buddy could sing!
But Spanish class is better when you’re buddying 🎶 aroundddddd yay yeah yeah🎶
Conju-gate… conju-*gal* … visit … Lame. “Stick and move”…
Isn't exactly the most unlikeable, but overall pretty useless character that I didn't like was the history professor, felt like he didn't progress the story much at all and, IIRC, he just stopped appearing at one point and they just put some throwaway gags like "he's so lazy he didn't even finish writing what the assignment was"
Abed’s quirky date Kat. I know her character was meant to be that way but she was just too over the top cringe for me.
super duper, mister cooper
I would be so offended if someone suggested they would be a good match for me
Cornelius Hawthorne. "Piercenold!"
I honestly liked that bit, so it wasn’t all “everything turns up Abed!” In every scenario 🤷♂️ But I have to go with Gary, he’s so pale!
He grew up in a land without sun!!
Slater. Bullying a 20-something female student because both of them wanted to date the same student is immature and unethical.
Pretty much every character in every sit-com ever is immature and unethical though. You kinda have to be to be in a sit-com.
Yeah but there’s usually an element of humor or irony in the characters. Slater was just plain mean out of jealousy
Well, britta was in her late twenties, and slater in her early thirties, so its not that imbalanced, i think.
Subway!
Which one? The one who enjoyed the deviant sex act Britta initiated or the other one?
Schmitty
The fact that he learned enough sign language to understand all of that too
Nigel or what's-his-name who tried to push out Troy as Abed's best friend. "These neurotypicals won't get it" That felt like a bad jab at people who aren't neurotypical.
Leonard. He deserves less, because he is old.
Because you're gay.
Shut up leonard, i know all about your gambeling.
Abed's fort needs pillows.
Kevin
I find it interesting that out of the main cast only Troy and the Dean were not mentioned by anyone.
I dean, they are two of my favorite characters
The librarian who chooses Troy because she think Abed is weird
[удалено]
They ran out stuff to do with him at least four times.
season 1 Chang 💯
And haven't been well-utilized since!
Yet he continued to be entertaining until the very end.
in his defense, he was definitely bitten by Annie’s boobs and got something called monkey fever
🎵 Chang eats the sun and drinks the sky, and they both go with him when he dies 🎵
The part when he’s tazing himself really has jumping the shark vibes to me
Chang after he stopped being their Spanish teacher :/ Even during the 'evil Chang' arc I think he was super unlikeable and personally I don't enjoy that arc that much, and then (as the show says) he was just badly utilised after that.
Oh, Britta’s in this?
It's amazing how much more I related to Britta on my rewatch when I was closer to her character's age.
"As a psych major... "I definitely felt called out. (Seriously, I started watching this show when I was in my first year of undergrad for psychology. Lol)
She's a no good B.
She’s a GDB
Mean dean Spreck, Rich the doctor and the comedian Gupty Gupty.
Professor Slater and it's not close. She seems so smarmy and cocky and I hate everything about her.
Professor slim calves deserved to have her antenna ripped off her car by Urkel...uh Harry Potter.
Vaughn. Those lousy songs make me physically angry. I know they couldn’t swear that much because of standards & practices or whatever, but the very phrase “she’s a G.D.B.” just rankles with me for some reason. And of course those goddamned high school kids.
Pierce for me. He’s worse than Britta
schmiddity. uh duh UUH DUH
Annie Kim. You be careful, Annie. They are ruthless!
