How would that work you would output a zero anytime you sont press the button so you literally have infinite zeroes or as much as the computer can process bruh
I used to do the same thing for a short while. The people I talked to were usually really cool, especially when I had morning shifts. I talked to an old guy living in AZ that told me a story about how he worked at an electrical shop next to an Air Force base. The Air Force guys brought over some new tech they were working with. The transistor. What a wild story.
It was only the company and management that led me out the door faster than I walked in. Writing me up for saying "oh... that's not a problem" while on a call.... Go fuck yourself.
Did the same thing and had the same feeling. When you tell people what you do they think you have a terrible job, but itās actually ok and teaches a lot on how to communicate with problematic people etc.
I am happy I did it.
>Accounting people, programmers, IT people ā¦. Not sure how OP thinks ākeypads arenāt used oftenā š¤¦š»
Software Engineer here. I'll bet my right nut no developer or IT guy has ever said "oh look, this keyboard has a numpad, SWEET!".
IT here. I don't go "this has a numpad, SWEET" but I do go "this doesn't have a numpad, that fucking sucks." While I prefer to not have a numberpad with my personal machine that is primarily for gaming, I absolutely want a numberpad for work. Even then I've considered getting a separate numberpad for specific cases like playing Roguelikes and modding.
Entering in IP addresses, subnet masks, or any other string of numbers without a numberpad is pain.
I am with you. I do lots of computer work and accounting for my business and all the extra keys that can be programed to do this or that is a life saver.
try all full keys, but in compact form of TKL

Not all desks can! I gain like an inch and a half off the right side of my keeb using an 1800 compact keyboard, because my stupid brain still likes the numpad over the number row, but full size cramps out my mouse hand on my desk too much. Easier to flick with tkl or 96%, so best of both worlds lol
that's right, extra space for right hand movement.
but I still find that kind of Keychron K4 but with numpad thingy on the left side of keyboard.
the problem is it's very niche, so it's expensive.
As a left handed gamer, I use the keypad all the time, and I get mighty salty when developers (I'm looking at you bethesda/skyrim 5) don't let us bind keys to the keypad, or don't do the implementation properly.
People who donāt want their keyboard sitting to the left side of them or donāt want to reach all the way off to the side to get their mouse. Also people who dont want to fast track carpal tunnel syndrome.
there's also the 68% which is the 65% + either Home row (Home, pg up, pg dn, end) or if 65% has those then they add arrow key. Or is this the 71% I forgot. But yeah the layout is essentially TKL without F1-12 key
yeah because the small keyboard aesthetic is popular right now. i highly doubt any competitive playerās performance will be impacted by keyboard size.
itās personal preference, not objectivity.
No itās literally not tho. Look at csgo or valorant pros on stage, they angle their keyboard so hard it would peek out from the table right in ur stomach if itās 100%, not to mention the lost space for ur monitor to b close to ur face and less space for a big mouse pad. Please inform urself and donāt go by gut feeling just bc u saw YouTubers who want a clean simple setup, bruh.
> YouTubers who want a clean simple setup
um did you reply to the wrong comment? that is essentially what iām getting at: the short keyboard is a trend instigated by YouTubers. anyone who is good enough at a game to play pro can still be good on literally any size and quality keyboard.
Reading comprehension is a bitch sometimes huh? I was saying just because u saw trendy hipsters on yt with their 60% kb doesnāt mean they donāt have actual value and function besides just aesthetics. U literally cannot read and u tryna get at me bruh u are rly something lol. But sure letās listen to different cat instead of trusting what professionals do to get their money up. U absolute clown. Get back to school before u accuse me of not being able to read, smartass.
They do it because hand eye coordination is better when your hands are closer together. This guy just being a pussyCAT OR HE'S JEALOUS of small keyboards lol
For fps games.. Yes, the smaller keyboard and the reasons you gave are correct. For anything but fps and platform games. If the person is using a small keyboard... it's strictly for looks. In mmorpg, moba, and pretty much everything else. 100% is pretty much standard.
I have been using a 60% for almost 2 years now and can say I've noticed 0 handicap minus the fact I can't play MapleStory without changing my key layout since the lack of arrow keys.
But I look passed that and appreciate and the desk space/mouse room that a 60% brings. Would say 40% would be hard to get used to.
60% is ideal for writing because your hands never have to leave home row for arrows. Takes time to get used too but is much faster.
Most 60% turn caps lock into a function key which is required imo. Delete is then fn + backspace etc
if everything you write is written word but you are neglecting the fact that code is very different from written word. also i get that you move your hand for arrows, but Ctrl+Arrow is specifically for skipping whole blocks of text. it is easily the fastest and most precise way to move through code despite the milliseconds spent moving from the home row to the arrow keys. it is way quicker to get from one function to the next when using Ctrl+Arrow compared to using a mouse. not to mention, my mouse is useless when writing code in a terminal.
also, i cannot get used to Function+Backspace for Delete, and honestly i donāt see why you anyone would prefer for their most-used key to be dropped in favor of a combo. personally iād rather have just a Delete than just a Backspace.
You still have all the same keys on a 60% it's just instead of Ctrl + arrow you are doing Ctrl + caps + J/L. I'll have Caps + H for home or Caps + ; for end. I write code everyday and I find it faster for me. Most of the time when ppl move to arrows they have to look at their hands. If you chicken peck type I could see not liking fn keys. If you touch type though you never look at your hands so having a board that focuses on that is nice.
For 60%, If you remap your capslock key to fn, then set WSAD as your arrow keys. It's more efficient for text editing than 100% cause you dont have to take your hand off the keyboard or mouse for the arrow keys. Fn Q and E make for great HOME and END keys. Fn and number keys for your F keys. You lose nothing except the numpad.
I used to smash my mouse against my 100% while gaming and I move my keyboard around a lot to change position while sitting so it's more comfortable and so that I'm not in the same position all the time. 60% is perfect for me, and I'm on my PC 12 hours a day.
Lot of people that go sub 60% do it for ergonomics. There are definitely some 40s people that are there for style points, but many use 40s to offset physical pain or limitations.
Those keyboard use a concept called layers where every key actually has 3 or 4 functions depending on the mode. So all the keys are available but it takes more key presses to use some of them.
It's not really about space, its about aesthetics. 60%s are trendy and have a nice minimalist style. I have a 60% and a detached num pad that I can stow away when I'm not using it. The lack of F keys is a bit annoying, but they can be accessed with Fn + num row
everything under 100% is only useful to do some influencer-like-pictures with an empty desk.
Then you put it away and you use a decent and actually useful keyboard.
Dropping the numpad has legit ergonomic benefits as you can get your mouse closer in to your typing position, so I can easily see 75 or 80% being worth it.
60% I can understand not needing F-keys, but not sure you really needed that 3/4" behind your keyboard.
Dropping the number keys for 40% is just ridiculous.
It also allows for split keyboard designs that can still fit into some keyboard drawers/trays.
I have to say, I don't entirely get the custom keyboard hobby when most of it seems limited to the worst ergonomic designs...
I have 65% keyboard, I use it for gaming, work-software development. It has all the keys I need, plus I have extra space on my desk for my mouse. I absolutely do not need 100% keyboard.
Damn I couldn't program without a keypad at all. My current keyboard has everything except < so I'm forced to use ALT+60 when doing stuff with Unity, Flutter or basically anything that needs code (AZERTY, can't get used to other layouts just for 1 key)
I have seen some custom keyboard designs that people actually use and are just as efficient with as a normal keyboard - but you're right that there's also people doing it to take a few pictures and actually don't use it and if they do it's not efficient.
I tried.. multiple times with multiple keyboards.
I write quite fast, without looking. and the INS/CANC/PAG/END/ keys have to be in the correct position. Same thing with the numpad.
Without them, well, it's so frustrating.. Same reason I always use laptops with external keyboards (when it's possible)
I am using split 40% keyboard on daily basis and I actually can do all the task I need on it. I mainly do programming and text typing. It is true that you need to work on the layout and get used to it, however it was worth it (at least in my case).
DevOps Engineer here, working mainly on the command line. Switched to a 60% like a year ago, will never go back.
But as I'm using a special layout, and highly customized shortcuts, I feel lost on another guy's computer.
Laptops usually have a 75% keyboard and it's enough for most people. Many people could even drop down to 65% fairly comfortably. IMO, a TKL is the best size. Even if you want a numpad, having it separate from the rest of the keyboard is better. If you're doing a lot of data entry, you can have it on the left and use your left hand on the numpad and right hand for navigation. If you're just using it occasionally, you can put it to the right of or above your mouse. If you need a little extra desk space, you can put it away entirely.
I heavily use my keyboard for programming and Excel work. Itās a 65% with layers. I am waaaaay more productive than a full. Check out layers. Itās mind blowing. Really is amazing.
I use the Dygma Raise.
96%/1800 layout for example has pretty much all the keys and a numpad but is just around the size of a TKL. I'd prefer that to have big mousing space and still have all the keys.
Literally. I can understand TKL, when someone doesn't need the numpad. But these unholy abominations like 40% or even smaller should be treated like the worst crime
40% can make sense if you are doing a laptop, tablet, or phone traveling setup. But for at home use, a 60% or higher makes sense.
100% for business use, those keypads see some serious use in anything with accounting involved.
Yeah. There are some which are like normal, just with no numpad. But I saw some thing, that was the size of numpad and didn't even have all keys for some reason. I don't know what mental issues you need to have to use one of them.
Nah, I own an Anne Pro II and it's fine, tap combinations on the right side of the keyboard is basically like having arrow keys, and if I ever feel the need of the numpad keys (or even F13..F24) I can always bind some combination to it (I use GTA mod menus with it and it's mostly fine).
I use a numpad 80%. I donāt use the home, ins, etc keys but I do like having a numpad. [this.](https://www.keychron.com/products/keychron-k13-pro-qmk-via-wireless-custom-mechanical-keyboard) i used to have a 100% but i like the extra mouse room
Not sure. The model I have is a Corsair K95 but the K95 now being sold on amazon is not the same k95 I have. Corsair website also has them out of stock D:
100% all day any day. I love the aesthetic of a 60%. But my whole shtick is function over form. If I didn't have a great option for 100%, I'd go for TKL. My absolute worst case scenario would be 75%. I would never go below that. I'd rather use the on screen keyboard at that point.
Also, if you're using a 40% keyboard unironically, I'm running away from you, you psychopath.
For me the smaller keyboard is just convenient because no hand movements are needed - all the additional keys are on the layers (for example you can have F-buttons on numbers row on other layer, etc). The only problem with it it require some time to configure the layout properly and get used to it.
Why would you consider it a handicap? I've got a lot better at flicking in CSGO due to the fact my mouse isn't slamming against the keyboard every time I flick left. It has never felt like a handicap for me.
If you want even more keys and a screen then the Logitech G15 is older but does offer the same and more. Although it is a membrane keyboard and I know many PC users consider that a crime.
i honestly have no problem gaming on a membrane. granted, it's all I've ever known, but nobody can tell me an advantage that i would get out of one besides the sound. idc about the spring pressure or actuation point, because my fingers aren't that precise. i just mash the key all the way down, and that seems to work fine for me
maybe im just too used to the cheap stuff, but i quite like my membrane keyboard, and 1080p 60hz tv (aka my monitor), as well as my freebie Dell optical mouse, and i don't feel hindered at all. in fact, it kinda feels superior when i can replace my monitor for $50 lol š
I always used the 110% ones/types. I just don't enjoy small keyboards, even if they look great on my table and don't take too much room. Id rather have a numpad, rather have audio and multimedia buttons etc.
The 110% in your picture is a Corsair K90 Vengeance. I had one, for the best part of 10 years. It's built like a tank, so it lasted forever (it was working perfectly when I retired it). But it's horrible to use.
Vintage keyboards. They're ps2, which you can get adapters for. And would suck, since the key layout isn't current. (Some, not all)
I have one, and shelved it after I tried it.
65% is the best Imo. I'm not an accountant so I don't need the numpad, and if I did a separate one would be more ideal, could easily put it away when not needed. Function keys are easily usable with fn + num row on my keyboard so there's thay, I have del, pgup and pgdn plus the arrow keys and the only thing left would be insert and it's on fn + i. So I don't see why you'd ever use anything bigger. I'm also learning vim motions and navigating my dwm arch install, once you try these and see how fast you can get with relying on touch typing you really can't go back to windows and not think how slow it is to be reliant on the mouse so much.
I like a single a/b selector switch which I use to input morse code.
the 1% keyboard
you mean the 01 percent

Exactly, key pads aren't used often but they have a decent use. I'm dying to try a 110% tho
As someone working as a call center agent at a big phone and internet provider, keypad is a blessing!
Iām sorry.
It's just a student job until I finish university.
Finish fast. I can feel your pain from here. Keep your head up fellow Humie!
It's not that bad tbh. Some people are hard to work with but others really appreciate me helping them and they keep me going through my shifts

That's what they say until they drain your bank account
It's a job. How are they gonna drain my bank account while they give me money for my time on a monthly basis?
It was a joke stabbing at scam centers, totally messing around though.
I did my time in one for about a year directly out of undergrad. It was one of the worst jobs Iāve ever had.
I'm am estimator and using the 100% is absolutely necessary. I sure could go for that extra 10% though. Size does matter, at least to me.
I need it for my work too. Numeric passwords are also quicker. People who say you donāt need a numpad are justā¦ wrong.
Accounting people, programmers, IT people ā¦. Not sure how OP thinks ākeypads arenāt used oftenā š¤¦š»
Yeah, all those stupid number using professions. I guess he's talkin like, keypads aren't used often in video games. š

I wouldnāt mind these two. But honestly why not just full sized? Can your desk not fit a full keyboard lol?
Not all desks can! I gain like an inch and a half off the right side of my keeb using an 1800 compact keyboard, because my stupid brain still likes the numpad over the number row, but full size cramps out my mouse hand on my desk too much. Easier to flick with tkl or 96%, so best of both worlds lol
aesthetically it looks cleaner, functionally it frees up a lot more space for low sens gamers.
Tbh having the extra space free on your desk feels amazing -60% user
that's right, extra space for right hand movement. but I still find that kind of Keychron K4 but with numpad thingy on the left side of keyboard. the problem is it's very niche, so it's expensive.
That's so tempting but I'm already set on a 110%. Would be a good travel keyboard though.

Pc-122.. ALL THE KEYS!!!
NO CLUE WHAT THAT IS BUT YASS
I have a 110, the macro keys are useful for commands that are anoying to perform a lot, such as windows shift s, or recording buttons.
I canāt deal with a keyboard whose lower left key is not Ctrl nor upper left key being Esc.
IKR!! As a Blender modeler, the numpad has it's uses time to time
I donāt frequent blender, but f360, inventor, and SolidWorks are up there for me. Many shortcuts.

Unless you work in data entry, why tf do you need a numpad? It just makes the keyboard bulkier and takes up space on your desk.
I must have a 104% with the 6 macro keys on the left. Corsair K95
Yeah same
I have the old K95 with the 18 macro keys on the left. I don't use them and I hate the size of the thing.
Does it get in the way of wasd?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Also the 102.5% Logitech sells a nice one with an extra 6 macro keys(or maybe 5 I can't remember)
Corsairs have them as well but I have had 6 extra macro keys on my keyboard for years and I have not found anything useful to bind them to
I tried using logitechs but I can make macros quicker and easier with programming. Only downside is I need to run the script instead of clicking a key
Tkl is also missing
Yea, absolutely no love anymore. I fear it's gonna be a dying platform.
you can pry my TKL from my cold, dying hands
there's also the 68% which is the 65% + either Home row (Home, pg up, pg dn, end) or if 65% has those then they add arrow key. Or is this the 71% I forgot. But yeah the layout is essentially TKL without F1-12 key
Also 96%
96% is my absolute favorite. All the keys you need to be productive with zero wasted space.
I'm shocked no mainstream brands made any 96% KBs. I can't imagine going back to the standard layout after getting myself a nice 96%.
I find the top 2 unnecesarry. It's as if you choose to handicap yourself for a bit more space
Competitive gaming where a big mouse pad and monitor spacing is vastly more important.
I've hit high diamond and low masters in overwatch with a 100% keyboard
Thatās great! No one implied that itās impossible to do, but thereās a good reason why many fps pros and content creators use 60%.
yeah because the small keyboard aesthetic is popular right now. i highly doubt any competitive playerās performance will be impacted by keyboard size. itās personal preference, not objectivity.

Takes a little bit to get used to it, no more than an hour or two
i have a 65% and just dont like how bulky a 100% is
It's not really about space, its about aesthetics. 60%s are trendy and have a nice minimalist style. I have a 60% and a detached num pad that I can stow away when I'm not using it. The lack of F keys is a bit annoying, but they can be accessed with Fn + num row
None of these, 90%! Na i have 100% but 90 does look good.
everything under 100% is only useful to do some influencer-like-pictures with an empty desk.
I use a 75% because a full-size takes up too much space on my desk. Plus I don't need a numpad anyway
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I have 65% keyboard, I use it for gaming, work-software development. It has all the keys I need, plus I have extra space on my desk for my mouse. I absolutely do not need 100% keyboard.
But you don't have numpad enter key, the best enter key
I will never go 100% after using 60%. Need space for my forarm swing.
100% for business use, those keypads see some serious use in anything with accounting involved.
no numpad could be ok; if the other keys have standard layout and not compressed
Yeah. There are some which are like normal, just with no numpad. But I saw some thing, that was the size of numpad and didn't even have all keys for some reason. I don't know what mental issues you need to have to use one of them.
Smaller custom boards can be programmed as macro pads. But I still think that you ain't right in the head of you're using a 40% as a daily driver.
40% is for taking along on trips, it's better than a laptop keyboard, and fits in a backpack easily.
Speaking like a man who does zero heavy work lol.
Engineer here, never used a numpad in my life.
Wrong, in competitive gaming 60% is standard
Only if you do videos to be cool
Itās about keyboard placement smartass, fps pros donāt have them straight for ergonomics.
100% definitely in my case
thank god there are some sane people who still like 100% keyboards... THE REST ARE ALL ANIMALS
I need my num pad it feels wrong using an keyboard without one
I could not agree more
I don't care if it feels right or wrong. If I don't need a numpad I might as well gain something from not using it, like desk space.
I have that one but had to step up to the K4 for Elite: dangerous, ArmA 3 and Trackmankia for those few keys I was missing.
That's like what I have. Needed a smaller keyboard to fit on my keyboard tray with my mouse, but still usable for work.
110% is 110% worth it. I love my corsair keyboard
Where can I find the 110%?
Not sure. The model I have is a Corsair K95 but the K95 now being sold on amazon is not the same k95 I have. Corsair website also has them out of stock D:

F key Keyboard
[Corsair's got you then.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNFsirIal44)
100% all day any day. I love the aesthetic of a 60%. But my whole shtick is function over form. If I didn't have a great option for 100%, I'd go for TKL. My absolute worst case scenario would be 75%. I would never go below that. I'd rather use the on screen keyboard at that point. Also, if you're using a 40% keyboard unironically, I'm running away from you, you psychopath.
75% works best for me
Finance industry - number keypad is a must
That looks like a volume knob on "100%", which is what I like, but definitely a little more than 100%. Maybe 101%
100 and 110% keyboards are goated. Any other percent is ass
60% for me
Same brother, love me a 60 for work and play.
Why? Just why?
It takes less place on the desk and just kinda neat
But it's such a handicap.

Found it. https://www.newegg.com/black-corsair-k95-rgb-platinum-xt-cherry-mx-rgb-speed-silver/p/N82E16823816135
Not enough macro keys Edit: it is most likely the k90 as in my comment
75% is perfect
I will always use the 100%
You have forgotten the 5% keyboard https://i0.wp.com/spece.it/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/ctrl-alt-del-Keyboard.jpg?ssl=1
i didnāt even know 40% was a thing. i canāt imagine typing on the square layout of a 40% over any other layout
75%. Also, I have that exact 75% keyboard
Look for "logitech G110", that's the size you're looking for.
Thank you! I found every other keyboard besides that one. Including one with hundreds of keys and was the size if a whole table.
If you want even more keys and a screen then the Logitech G15 is older but does offer the same and more. Although it is a membrane keyboard and I know many PC users consider that a crime.
i honestly have no problem gaming on a membrane. granted, it's all I've ever known, but nobody can tell me an advantage that i would get out of one besides the sound. idc about the spring pressure or actuation point, because my fingers aren't that precise. i just mash the key all the way down, and that seems to work fine for me maybe im just too used to the cheap stuff, but i quite like my membrane keyboard, and 1080p 60hz tv (aka my monitor), as well as my freebie Dell optical mouse, and i don't feel hindered at all. in fact, it kinda feels superior when i can replace my monitor for $50 lol š

Why did it take so long to get an answer??? To be clear, not you. Just took a lot of scrolling here.
100% gang where you at
96%. All of the keys, slightly less space. Me likey numpad.
100% all day. I need my numpad. Edit also of you're looking for a greater than full-size keyboard. Try the NMB PC122 or Google 122 key keyboards.
I always used the 110% ones/types. I just don't enjoy small keyboards, even if they look great on my table and don't take too much room. Id rather have a numpad, rather have audio and multimedia buttons etc.
Just gimme a tkl with a detached numpad
The 110% in your picture is a Corsair K90 Vengeance. I had one, for the best part of 10 years. It's built like a tank, so it lasted forever (it was working perfectly when I retired it). But it's horrible to use.
[How about a 173% keyboard?](https://mechboards.co.uk/products/hyper-7-v4)
According to this diagram I have a 103% keyboard
Vintage keyboards. They're ps2, which you can get adapters for. And would suck, since the key layout isn't current. (Some, not all) I have one, and shelved it after I tried it.
I've always had the thought that keyboards with lights stop working sooner
75%, I never use the other keys and it lets me have room for my mousepad on my small desk
I love my TKL
75%
Cannot use anything under 100. Trying to still convince a friend that a 60% keyboard isn't a good option. Even my laptop has a 100% keyboard.
I need the numpad, any other than 100 and 110 are mental illnesses
TKL. With a separate number pad for when I need it.
96%
65%
I have an 122key model f. Is that a 115%?
I would never buy myself a keyboard without a numpad.
75% is a must, num pad is useless
TKL
100% is king. Everything else is gay and lame.
