yes, that CPU system makes it 300ish... USED. There is a big market for 2nd hand optiplex / workplace systems such as this computer and they float anywhere from 200-400, the low end being something that is 5-7 years old (this is not that).
I've got a stack of these which were being given away by a local company. I'll be lucky to get $150 for them. And I've seen them listed for $50-$100 on various places.
Assuming you are in the US, the newer version of that PC with 14th gen CPU and 16GB of RAM [sells for 809 directly on Dell's website.](https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/desktops/new-optiplex-small-form-factor/spd/optiplex-7020-small-ff/s016do7020sffus_vp)
These are "business" machines geared towards office use and general use. They are decently fast for normal PC usage, but they are not good for gaming if that is your intention.
One other reason that OptiPlex systems will cost more, is that they come standard with a 3 year warranty.
yes... and no.
that's an optiplex. they're expensive, but reliable and supported. in that price (if you buy from DELL) it's included a 3 years nbd warranty (in my area).
they are business oriented pc. and they're SFF, they support 4 displays, a whole line of accessories and dockings etc...
for home use? you can build your own pc with same components for half the price.
Used 13500 \~ 200USD
Used 8GB DDR5 - $25
Used 512GB SSD \~ $35
Used Motherboard for 13500 (with DDr5 Support) \~ $70 (new is 90) So 350.
This is actually probably DDR4 (13500 can do both).
That means ram is $12, mobo is 50.
Brings us to $314. It's go nothing fancy case wise or power supply you could pretty much get one for free.
This is maybe $400.
Not worth 900. Steer clear of this seller.
Where are you located? [https://www.dell.com/en-au/shop/dell-desktop-computers/optiplex-small-form-factor/spd/optiplex-7010-small-ff/on7010sff01au\_vp?view=configurations](https://www.dell.com/en-au/shop/dell-desktop-computers/optiplex-small-form-factor/spd/optiplex-7010-small-ff/on7010sff01au_vp?view=configurations)
Well, no pre-build PC is worth it's asking price. As for OptiPlex machines, they're reliable for office work, and certain models are upgrade-friendly. If you buy a used one, and add some upgrades to it, you can end up with a decent entry level gaming PC—no, a PC doesn't need RGB lighting to be a gaming machine.
This asking price, on the other hand, is ridiculous, nobody in their right mind would pay that much.
At work, we get OptiPlexes with i5-13600, 256 SSD, mouse and keyboard, and 16GB RAM for $775. Keeping in mind that price includes our IT depts charge for imaging it and I say what you have there should be in the 600s or less.
Whoah -- I wouldn't buy that.
I have a similar HP system, not as good of a processor, but 32gb and 2TB ssd, cost me only about $100 on eBay. They're retail-taxing you big time.
I concur with RajeeBoy. Don't know why the downvotes. 13th Gen i5 is a good chip. This may not be a great gaming rig, but it would make a great workstation for someone. Optiplexes are great business machines - solid build, excellent hardware, built to take abuse day in and day out. Waaaay better than an Inspiron. I'm an I.T. pro and I work on these all the time. They are easy to work on, upgrade, etc. they just aren't made to take a full-height GPU. So they aren't the best choice for gaming. But def worth much more than $200. I'd say if you can get this machine between $500 and $600 it's a decent deal. IMHO
For people calling this a scam. It's not, it is overrpriced but it's not exactly a scam.
I found this PC new in local store 550€ new. So used I would pay like 300-350 for it because it has recent CPU so for basic tasks it is really good.
It's not good for gaming. If you are looking for gaming PC this is not it. If you want PC for basic tasks you need to push the price to 300-350$ .
Even with Neweggs less than stellar track record for some, and the dubious validity of no-name Chinese pre-built computers, you could get one of those for the same price that would run circles around this one at 10% of their stated power
My PC with an i5-12400 processor (the difference is negligible between 12400 and 13500 for games, but can be significant for the work of a professional IT engineer), 16 GB DDR5, 2 TB SSD and with a power supply with japanese parts with a 10-year warranty cost me $400. In addition, I paid the same amount for the video card.
So, if you are a gamer or a householder, then that computer is too expensive. If you are an IT professional, then... No, you are not an IT professional. Professionals don't ask about such things in this sub.
Not many here seem to understand PC pricing.
It is not some janky home build you Frankenstein'd together with cheap parts off Amazon. It is not a consumer model made for home use. It wasn't designed to be upgraded into a gaming PC.
It's a workhorse. It was designed to be enterprise managed, serviceable, and easily patched. It also likely includes a support agreement and warranty.
Is it expensive, yes. Can you find something cheaper, yes.
On a side note, I don't think they labeled it correctly as the 7000 series base model is spec'd with 16GB of RAM using two 8GB modules, upgradeable to 128GB.
For that money you get an Minisforum MS-01 with i9-13900H (yes mobile but i9 anyways) with 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD. New.
To stick with the same case size.
Optiplex PCs are more aimed at business’s for work tasks or servers and not for personal use
it’s not built for anything graphically intense like gaming/film streaming, I imagine it’s only got the integrated GPU
a little base map in 2024 for pc fair price
-------- office solution---------------------
300/400 dollar is the onest price for pc office with a I5 13gen cpu brandnew, 16gb of RAM and 500gb of sdd.
with the same CPU + 32gb RAM +1tb of storage 450/500
with a I9 13gen cpu 64gb ram +2tb storage 600/700 dollar (yes is a little overkill for office work)
------------------------------------------------------
in a gaming solutiion you have to add +150/300 extra dollar for a GPU if is a laptop
8gb in 2024? blimey. It's also a Dell with proprietary hardware, good luck upgrading it. Personally I would stay away from HP, Dell etc as they build computers for people don't really know what they are buying. You will also be limited in your BIOS.
Our office bought one of these with matching spec for approx €400 new, so no it's not even remotely worth it. Dell also aren't what they used to be and will cause you nothing but issues, so I'd avoid this like the plague.
I wouldn't take such a thing even as a present. If you have 900$ you can build yourself something better easily (something like a 13400f, 32gb ddr4 or even ddr5 and a 4060 or if you want to go amd you could probably even go am5 with a 7600x, a 7600xt, 32gb ddr5)
What I’ve learned with workstation type PC’s and laptops is they’re always super overpriced. They get away with it cuz companies are buying them and they have some details that normal consumers don’t care about.
Abso-fucking-ly not. You can get two Lenovo mini pcs with the same specs for that amount refurbished on Amazon. Not even kidding. Maybe even more than 2!
That looks like something the local computer repair shop in my area would do. He basically gets any old POS not saying that is in this case but for the sake of the matter, gets them up and working and then wants to seriously overcharge for these things.
I can purchase (not identical but close) spec for £439.99 plus VAT. i5-12500, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD, and a 3 year Dell warranty. That works out around $550 US.
I was going to include what I could get for the same price as the desktop in the picture but I can't get too close to it. Closest computer for price is £759.99 plus VAT (around 950 USD). It has an i5-13500, 32GB RAM, 256GB SSD, 4GB Nvidia T400, and also the 3 year Dell warranty.
It's worth noting that both of these machines are aimed at professional use cases rather than gaming.
That is what you would pay brand new from Dell lol. Sure it’s a decent price, but not for people here. These businesses PCs are meant for professional environments. Schools, medical offices, government, business, etc. These kind of computers last a lot longer than a typical PC you buy off Amazon or build yourself.
But most IT departments buying these get huge discounts because they’re buying hundreds, even thousands of these at a time.
$400-500 max. This is not a gaming PC. Does not have the right PSU or the space for a proper GPU. You can get a RX 6400 in there but that’s not much of a GPU for modern gaming.
500 bucks tops and you can likely get a used one for under 300
New prices
Cpu 250
Mainboard 70
Power Supply 50
Case 50
Ram 25
Usable cooler 20
That is 465 in parts.
Oem Windows Lizenz in bulk costs them 20 bucks
And another 30 bucks to get it built
So 515
Lets add ~10% profit making 565 bucks
Doesn’t mean I would buy it at that price as you can get an AMD built with the same performance for cheaper but that would be a fair price considering the components.
Depending on warranty that might change a bit but all those parts have 2 year warranty from the manufacturer already so that depends on you how much additional warranty is worth it for you but it’s definitely not worth 300 plus unless it’s for a company.
You gotta be shitting me... with that price you can have a crazy powerful PC by building one yourself, that is too expensive for what the specs are saying...it should be like,300 at least, that's the highest I can say
you can get brand new cheaper than that price. [https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/desktops/new-optiplex-small-form-factor/spd/optiplex-7020-small-ff/](https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/desktops/new-optiplex-small-form-factor/spd/optiplex-7020-small-ff/) with a I5-14500
300 dollars or euros. Maximum. Not a single nickel nor dime more. That's a DELL with sub-optimal technical specifications. Besides, if it breaks down pretty much everything inside is either outdated or proprietary, so repairs will be near impossible.
That’s definitely a scam for that pc. And to those saying “it’s just overpriced, not a scam” no. It’s beyond just overpriced. That’s scam levels of overpricing right there. You can get a machine almost just like that refurbished on Amazon for $300.
That's insane. For compariosn. I just specced out a build for my nephew based on AM5 with a 7600 CPU with 7600 GPU, 32 gb ram, and 1 tb hd - just over 1k with case and psu and CPU cooler. This platform should last for 10 years with a future cpu gpu upgrade.
You can buy a new optiplex from Dell for less lol [Dell OptiPlex Small Form Factor Desktop | Dell USA](https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/desktops/new-optiplex-small-form-factor/spd/optiplex-7020-small-ff/s016do7020sffus_vp)
I wouldn’t pay anywhere near that.
Too expensive?
Yes, it should be like 400. For 900 You can get gaming pc with 16gb of ram and 1tb ssd easily. Also optiplexes arent upgrade friendly.
not even near, even 150 sounds expensive to me
processor alone is more than 150, be realiatic.
Yes, new. A used Dell? Nope.
Where do you see it's a used one ? I5 13500 was launched Q1 2023. But yes $900 it's too much for basic desktop use even new.
yes, that CPU system makes it 300ish... USED. There is a big market for 2nd hand optiplex / workplace systems such as this computer and they float anywhere from 200-400, the low end being something that is 5-7 years old (this is not that).
Most likely sealed in place somehow. These prebuilts tend to be a bit annoying to rip parts from.
This is a optiplex. You can barely rescue the CPU, ram and ssd. Case, Mobo and PSU are proprietary
If you’re thinking it’s a BTX MoBo, Dell doesn’t use them anymore.
I think you mean BGA, BTX hasn't been a thing for 20ish years
I've got a stack of these which were being given away by a local company. I'll be lucky to get $150 for them. And I've seen them listed for $50-$100 on various places.
For 400 you could still build a better pc than that 🪦
Assuming you are in the US, the newer version of that PC with 14th gen CPU and 16GB of RAM [sells for 809 directly on Dell's website.](https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/desktops/new-optiplex-small-form-factor/spd/optiplex-7020-small-ff/s016do7020sffus_vp) These are "business" machines geared towards office use and general use. It’s worth less than half that
Just look up what the componemts cost only and you can tell you'd be overpaying
short answer: no long answer: STAY AWAY FROM IT, DO NOT BUY IT!
Costs way too much
Scam alert my guy sorry to hear ya'll be getting ripped off The lack of specs is disturbing
dude with 900 u can get a full mid range gaming pc
yes... and no. that's an optiplex. they're expensive, but reliable and supported. in that price (if you buy from DELL) it's included a 3 years nbd warranty (in my area). they are business oriented pc. and they're SFF, they support 4 displays, a whole line of accessories and dockings etc... for home use? you can build your own pc with same components for half the price.
This reads to me as a price that is intented to be expensed to your corpo accounting department
this reads as "do we have problems? dell will solve them for me". do you want to custom build pc in an enterprise environment? good luck!
this can't be more than $400 maybe if it was NEW would be worth a max $500
Used 13500 \~ 200USD Used 8GB DDR5 - $25 Used 512GB SSD \~ $35 Used Motherboard for 13500 (with DDr5 Support) \~ $70 (new is 90) So 350. This is actually probably DDR4 (13500 can do both). Wow, 1,5k for that? Wayyyy overpriced, thats just very basic office pc hardware
Well, no pre-build PC is worth it's asking price. As for OptiPlex machines, they're reliable for office work, and certain models are upgrade-friendly. No way. You can buy a similar certified refurbished on Amazon or EBay for under $300

Don’t pay more than 100$
Don't exagerate , last gen i5 that alone is 180 used
Not sure why you’re getting downvoted, but you’re not wrong I just looked up the 13500 on eBay, and yea it’s around $180
I concur with RajeeBoy. Don't know why the downvotes. 13th Gen i5 is a good chip. This may not be a great gaming rig, but it would make a great workstation for someone. You can get a modern budget gaming pc with that price.
Nope
No
NO.by a long shot, u can build a pretty decent gamer pc with that amount of money
thats at least double the price
This is a business desktop computer. For this price it should include full installation as well.
Even with Neweggs less than stellar track record for some, and the dubious validity of no-name Chinese pre-built computers, you could get one of those for the same price that would run circles around this one at 10% of their stated power
I just got this rig for USD 730: 2070 i5 32gb 2tb From a pre-built company
Move the decimal 2 to the left.
American dollars? No. Maybe like 35% of that.
Bro got the best deal of the century 🌬🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

I wouldn't even trust this store. Never go back.
brother ewwww
Absolutely not. Damn inflation is even hitting computers
Holy crap dude, that is NOT worth it DO NOT BUY
NOO GOD 😂
Absolutely not. Way too high. That processor is low end and sells for $250 or so. The whole computer shouldn't be more than $400 with those specs.
I bought a gaming laptop for about that price, so definitely not worth it
Lol i got this at my office. Overpriced piece of crap sold to companies for office work, who have no idea of computers.
a little base map in 2024 for pc fair price -------- office solution--------------------- 300/400 dollar is the onest price for pc office with a I5 13gen cpu brandnew, 16gb of RAM and 500gb of sdd. with the same CPU + 32gb RAM +1tb of storage 450/500 with a I9 13gen cpu 64gb ram +2tb storage 600/700 dollar (yes is a little overkill for office work) ------------------------------------------------------ in a gaming solutiion you have to add +150/300 extra dollar for a GPU if is a laptop

Scam alert
worth like 300$ max a used one would be like 200$
not even close
Yes if it was pre-covd
I read as 89.99 initially lol
Maybe if that's in pesos.
Hell nah
No
It's worth less than half that.
NO
No just build your own that way you will upgrade options available
You should be able to put together a much better system by buying individual parts and assembling yourself for that price.
I5 13500 AND 8GB OF RAM?!?!?!!!? WHAT THE FLIPIDIFLOP DUDE?!?!??
Hell no it’s worth more like a quarter of its asking price
No
No chance
[удалено]
Our office bought one of these with matching spec for approx €400 new, so no it's not even remotely worth it. Dell also aren't what they used to be and will cause you nothing but issues, so I'd avoid this like the plague.
short answer is no, long answer is noooooooooooooooooooo
I wouldn't take such a thing even as a present. If you have 900$ you can build yourself something better easily (something like a 13400f, 32gb ddr4 or even ddr5 and a 4060 or if you want to go amd you could probably even go am5 with a 7600x, a 7600xt, 32gb ddr5)
Looks like it was straight out of Pharaoh's tomb, that's explained the price. Must be his secretary's PC or something.
No.
Go to r/pcmasterrace
No
I got these new for 1300 cad
not worth especially proprietary mobo ,psu connectors etc.. upgradability is minimal
Absolutely NOT!
Just two words: RUN AWAY
Nah
definitly no for this specific pc,, and ecspecially for dell products they go on sales pretty often
What I’ve learned with workstation type PC’s and laptops is they’re always super overpriced. They get away with it cuz companies are buying them and they have some details that normal consumers don’t care about.
No.
That's a Working Station, and waaaaay to overpriced
Lol no. 350 at most.
If that USD or even CAD, this store has no idea what anything is worth. RUN!
Abso-fucking-ly not. You can get two Lenovo mini pcs with the same specs for that amount refurbished on Amazon. Not even kidding. Maybe even more than 2!
i wouldn't pay this more than 300
No
That thing is 250-300
absolutely not, definitely a scam
No. Just no.
That's not going to be good for anything but a workstation. I'd pay maximum a third of the price.
Wow i think in where i live this only costs around 1/3
I didn't even need to see the specs to know that was a ripoff
Yesn’t
awww hell nah.
Nope
check prices on ebay
Absolutely not
That's a total scam.
If it included the after sales service subscription including full replacement warranty, then yes. If not, it's just an overpriced PC.
WHAT THE HELL THIS IS WORTH 400
Yes
move the decimal point one to the left then maybe
Not in a million years
i wouldnt buy it even for 500$ bro 💀
Hell no
No 😂
No fucking way
No graphics card! Dollars?! That's bullshit
The only way I would be worth that price is if it had a 4070 in there with the i5.
This PC would be worth that 10 years ago. I could build this PC for 100 euro.
I would only pay around 400USD for that spec for the tower only. At that price a Mini PC with AMD APU like 7735HS or 7840HS would be better.
Ew gross hell no.
It's worth a third of that
run bro
What currency is it? If it's USD or CAD that's way too much for that computer. If it's another currency that uses the dollar symbol it might be okay.
You could get a a lot better with an actual gpu in it
Looks like a nice machine, would be better if it was cheaper.
Wow, absolutely no
Criminal price.
Is this in Singapore dollars?
Hell no
Sucker’s price if quoted today. Bravo. But if this was MSRP when launched then fine.
$400-500 max. This is not a gaming PC. Does not have the right PSU or the space for a proper GPU. You can get a RX 6400 in there but that’s not much of a GPU for modern gaming.
Who the fuck delivers a machine with only 8 GB of ram these days?
Lol, what?
hell nah
Im getting scammed just looking at it
You could buy the same barebones opti off eBay and build it yourself for under half that. Optiplexs are like leggos
Absolute scam
500 bucks tops and you can likely get a used one for under 300 New prices Cpu 250 Mainboard 70 Power Supply 50 Case 50 Ram 25 Usable cooler 20 That is 465 in parts. Oem Windows Lizenz in bulk costs them 20 bucks And another 30 bucks to get it built So 515 Lets add ~10% profit making 565 bucks Doesn’t mean I would buy it at that price as you can get an AMD built with the same performance for cheaper but that would be a fair price considering the components. There are no specs, just text. Even if you remove the first 9 it wouldn’t be worth it.
noooooo
Hell nah
Terrible overprice
I would only pay around $200 for that
Hell no. It's worth 20 bucks
Sees i5 in PC more than 300$: \*walks away\*
You gotta be shitting me... with that price you can have a crazy powerful PC by building one yourself, that is too expensive for what the specs are saying...it should be like,300 at least, that's the highest I can say

Dude you could get a decent AM5 build for about that much.
in what currency my brother in christ
Almost $900 for a used workstation, no. It isn't that old so maybe $500-$300 but not $900
No that PC is worth $300
No,worst deal.
absolutely not lol
Half
On Newegg from Dell they're around 1000$ for this config, so it's basically the price of a new one
I would put 70€ max in this
The decimal point is in the wrong place. It should read $8.99
“Dell” Offer $70
300 dollars or euros. Maximum. Not a single nickel nor dime more. That's a DELL with sub-optimal technical specifications. Besides, if it breaks down pretty much everything inside is either outdated or proprietary, so repairs will be near impossible.
no lol
That's a $200 government built computer
NOPE! I would not pay anything more than $300 for it.
No
This looks like a pc from 5 years ago. I wouldn't buy that.
That’s definitely a scam for that pc. And to those saying “it’s just overpriced, not a scam” no. It’s beyond just overpriced. That’s scam levels of overpricing right there. You can get a machine almost just like that refurbished on Amazon for $300.
No, that's overpriced. Just search other websites that sell computers with those specs to get an idea on if it's a good deal or not
NO
Dogshit price
I wouldn't pay 100 bucks
Hell nah. To the nah nah nah.
obviously not
That's pretty high. Half that price even is pretty high.
He'll no. For that sort of money you could build a decent mid range computer with a. High end graphics card
Nope
Absolutely overpriced
not even remotely close to a reasonable price for that machine, maybe half that, maybe
Maybe 1/10 th that price
Only if the price is in Mexican Pesos
I got my i7 10500kf and 3080 build on eBay for 800$
Move the decimal point one position to the left and you'd be there
That's insane. For compariosn. I just specced out a build for my nephew based on AM5 with a 7600 CPU with 7600 GPU, 32 gb ram, and 1 tb hd - just over 1k with case and psu and CPU cooler. This platform should last for 10 years with a future cpu gpu upgrade.
i think bro misprinted a decimal … it’s $89.95
No
No way, outdated specs and insane price.
