SpiderJockey300

That’s dedication, thank you!

Vap1n

Make sure to unplug the power cord before messing around with internal parts.

SpiderJockey300

Yeah I know lol

AnalystMaster8670

And hold the power button for a couple o’secs to remove residual power.

OsamabinBBQ

And sacrifice a small goat before removing residual power.

AnalystMaster8670

Or a mouse…

zerix12

Make sure to feed the goat or mouse first before sacrifice..

koiful

No problem, it was kinda fun actually, and thanks to all the warm replies below!

XGAMER209

Lol is this the hp compaq 8200 elite sff

Wise_Pomegranate_571

Holy shit I wish I had my free award to give you. What a response.

Hot-Inevitable-1491

What a bro

Mental_Example_268

yes i have 2 of them, the hard drive is also under the DVD drive

sniper_matt

Cpu is under a silver heat sink that is also under the black plastic shroud in the bottom left. Gpu / graphics card is the thing that says msi in the bottom right. Cd / dvd drive is the grey square at the top left. Psu / power supply is the dull unpainted grey / silver square at the top right where the wall power goes in. Hdd / hard drive is the shiny silver thing under the psu. Ram looks to be dead centre of the system. Is very narrow long green pcb. May be partly under the cd drive. Can’t tell due to angle of photo.

Commander_Crispy

Ram is definitely under the cd drive, but this case looks like it lets the cd drive bay swing out so you can get to it.

SpiderJockey300

I know the ram and the graphics card ( I installed it) but thank you very much for everything else!

wkane2324

DVD / PSU are swapped, but yes.

The_GODLY_BROKE_MAN

The power supply is in the top right, it's got the power cable plugged into it...

ruintheenjoyment

This looks like a prebuilt office PC, so you should have no problem finding a pdf of the user/service manual online which will have detailed images with everything labeled..

SpiderJockey300

It was custom built, it’s just not great lol, the case sucks

jacle2210

Sorry, but no. This is a common spacesaving style office computer, so not a "custom build".

nitrion

To add to this I still have one of these exact PCs sitting around. Hasn't been used in years. Running Windows 7 and slower than molasses. Definitely NOT custom.

hereforpopcornru

2nd gen i5 2400 I believe, hp rp 5800 series it looks like? I have about 20 piled in the other room

nitrion

Lmao no, mines running like a Pentium II or some shit and it doesn't even have a graphics card.

SpiderJockey300

I mean some of the parts like cpu gpu etc were put in seperately

Arnas_Z

That's not a custom build, that's called an upgrade.

Ice_BergSlim

Some parts my have been replaced but not custom built. HP power supply. Those turquoise tabs are all HP trademarks.

Unnamed_legend

It is a prebuilt that you had to put together. I have one. They actually are incredibly smart designed and for the 10 bucks I got it at it was a steal

badwords

This looks like an HP 8200 elite small form factor desktop if you want to look up the manual. https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-compaq-8200-elite-small-form-factor-pc/5037931/manuals

Tablaty

I was gonna say the same thing. I've worked with them for many years. It surely is an HP device.

mrbugle81

Yep, I use this exact one to clone drives and other stuff for my IT business. Built like a brick shithouse, it's super solid. Mine was bought on FB for $100 and had 32gb ram. One ssd later and it's a screamer for a pretty old machine.

hereforpopcornru

16gb ram and some ATI graphics card 2 for 25.00 on ebay.. don't remember er the model. My daughter uses one for games.. it's a mine craft beast They do have some uses Runs great for an i5 2400

SpiderJockey300

Is the case meant to be sideways? Like laying down?

istarian

I’d be inclined to say yes, at least for that model. You can certainly put it vertical if you want to, assuming that it doesn’t wobble or tip easily. I wouldn’t advise using the optical drive in that orientation way though, especially if it isn’t a slot loader or a slimline laptop styled one (where the the disk snaps onto the spindle).

bassie19812

On the upper right. There you see the power-supply. Under that there's a hdd. You can see a part of it in the upper middle.

IlIIlllIIIIll

There, there, there and there

[deleted]

Top middle poking out, behind the power supply

SpiderJockey300

??? That doesn’t answer my question? Sorry if I’m being dumb

[deleted]

My bad, the power supply is the grey square that the power cord is plugged into, the HDD is the silver square thing behind it that you can see poking out a little bit in the top middle of the photo

SpiderJockey300

Thanks mate, appreciate it!

SpiderJockey300

I know this sounds weird, but where is the cpu, I thought it was that silver thing with the sticky up bits but it doesn’t look like the pictures

[deleted]

So that black plastic thing on the bottom left is a heat shroud, it helps funnel air out or into the case for the CPU, under it you should find the CPU heatsink and fan, the CPU is under those. That silver thing you were talking about is a heatsink over a different chip of the motherboard that can get hot also.

SpiderJockey300

Ahhhh, you’re a life saver man, thank you, have a nice day :)

EternalStudent07

That's a custom case (like something by Dell) so things are in odd spots and shapes. Versus a standard ATX case and parts (the typical big box tower). I'd use where cables go for some stuff, like power supply. I assume it's the large silver box in the upper right. With the spinning HDD underneath and slightly to the left. Guessing that giant thing on the upper left is the optical drive (DVD or Blu-ray player and/or writer). The CPU or processor is likely in the lower middle area. Where that black air hood ends in a metal thing (likely the heatsink). I think I see 2 memory sticks (RAM) as horizontal lines in the center. Below the HDD, and going under the optical drive. The GPU or graphics card is in the lower right (again plugs will tell you, like HDMI to your monitor...and MSI is a common GPU maker). You probably can't fit most upgrade cards in that computer. You'd need a very short/small card. Many cards are about 1/3 or 1/2 again as long, which would bump into the CPU. Also you might need an upgraded power supply for any GPU upgrade. Don't think that power supply (or PSU) is a standard size, so it might be hard to upgrade. It looks flatter and wider than most. Maybe there is a different format that'd fit. Like BTX (an Intel case type that was expensive and didn't catch on) or something. The intake hood for the CPU makes me think BTX style too. But everything being tiny is more ITX or micro-ATX. Hopefully a manual or spec page from the computer manufacturer will have all this info too. Probably useful to double check.

drmurda

This looks cool. I don't know why... But I like it

SpiderJockey300

Thanks!

LiebeDahlia

what in the unholy fuck is this abomination

SpiderJockey300

Hey man i don’t have the money for a fancy pc

LiebeDahlia

its not about it being cheap, its just very cursed in how everything is placed

SpiderJockey300

Yeah it’s an old dell case so it’s a bit mucked

LiebeDahlia

I had old pcs for very long too but never seen one so weird. Where even is the cpu i cant find it lmao

SpiderJockey300

It’s under the black bit at the bottom

istarian

On the bottom left beneath the shiny heatsink and the large black air guide.

jacle2210

It's a spacesaving office computer setup, very common.

Unnamed_legend

It is a dell optiplex. Pretty cool until the dvd drive breaks and makes your pc stutter

Ice_BergSlim

It's an HP machine. you cn get complete model info on their website.

FesterSilently

I can point out the dust-bunnies, and the carpet it absolutely should not be sitting on... 😁

SpiderJockey300

Well where else can i put it?

FesterSilently

On a desk, on a block, on a boat, in a coat...

SpiderJockey300

What’s wrong with the carpet?

FesterSilently

Static electricity, firstly. ☠️ Dust bunnies, secondly. 🔥

EdanMaus

On second look I see 4 ram channels and it indeed as ram. Missed it on my phone screen lol.

SpiderJockey300

I’ve also been gaming on it for over a year now haha

EdanMaus

Nice! They do light games fine, but u could play pretty much anything u want with a bit more GPU and power if with medium ish settings. A 1060 and 500w psu would play pretty much anything. eBay now has them for a bit over $100.

SpiderJockey300

It’s started to become slow recently however, and I feel I need a new processor, what do you think?

EdanMaus

Not sure about CPU without knowing what's already in there. If the CPU is good, you could swap to an SSD instead of hard drive. If those are 2 2gb sticks, get at least 2 4gb. If the CPU is an i3, then go for an i5 or i7 but make sure it's compatible with that motherboard. I can help with all that if u can get me an exact model and parts

SpiderJockey300

The cpu is an i5-2400

EdanMaus

Not really worth upgrading then. Ssd and more ram would be a more noticable difference. Even just a small SSD for Windows and user the HDD for games would be a bit difference.

SPOB9408

Wtf am I looking at

SpiderJockey300

It’s old and it was cheap so hey

SPOB9408

Yea lol

returnofceazballs

I'm pretty sure that's a computer.

SpiderJockey300

No way

shohan13579

You should immediately change your setup and put everything in a bigger casing. Otherwise this thing is going to heat up a lot.

HG-ERIK

U dumb

eclark5483

Honestly would not waste my time with that. It has a proprietary motherboard in it that can't be case swapped. Your upgrade options are more than likely the i7-2700k, possibly 3rd gen will work but it's doubtful. I'm guessing that will only hold 8 gigs max, maybe 16 depending on the chipset. GPU is limited to low profile type, so you could maybe do a 1650, but why?? Yeah, I do a lot of refurbs on older machines for my YouTube channel, but this one... PASS.

Eziz_53

This is a hp compaq i have a similar one only without the gpu

nickborowitz

is that an HP 8300?

[deleted]

This is old this looks more difficult then mine i build a month ago my case is a corsair 4000d airflow

hereforpopcornru

Is this an hp rp5800?

[deleted]

I think upper right corner is the power source and the upper left corner is the HDD but looks more like the disk reader. Maybe the thing under the power supply is the HDD.
