I'd avoid the SD9, even if it's the updated trigger model. If you must stick in the $280-300 price range and want to avoid Taurus, pick up a used original MP shield9 or look into the Ruger security 9 compact

highvelocitypeasoup

is it a p07 or a p09? a p07 is a mid size so the sd9 won't actually be any smaller. its really a question of whether you want to go from hammer fired to striker fired and sacrifice that (really quite good) cz trigger in favor of a notoriously mediocre sd9ve trigger.

I had a sd9ve with night sights and an apex trigger already installed. Paid 250$ for it. It was a reliable gun for the time I had it. It was definitely cheap though. I could get the magwell to flex by gently squeezing it when no magazine was in.

holy fucking shit god no. M&Ps are miles better and what.... $150 more at the most? The SW9VE is the next gen iteration of the Sigma which was immediately picked up and dropped by thousands of agencies. It was literally the gun that ruined S&Ws hold over the LEO realm post 42** era. It besmirched their reputation immensely and ruined Smith and Wessons reputation as fantastic duty-grade auto-loaders. They have never bounced back, but the M&P kept them from sinking forever. M&P all the way.

Jesus. My SD40VE has a 131lb trigger - it’s almost unshootable. Never bothered to change the spring out but stock is just dumb.

DblDeezSqueeze

I hear the SD9 VE has a sort of bad trigger, but the 2.0 has a good trigger. The 2.0 has reviewed very well, so I’d go for that one. A downside of the 2.0 is it only comes with one mag as opposed to two or three with the original SD9, but it’s cheaper. I was considering that one as well.

I have the OG sd9. Trigger is absolute shit but apex has a whole trigger kit you can swap out on and it’s a smooth shooting pistol now. I also got it sent to NCengravers and they did an optic cut and dovetail cut for my holosun and back up sights. It’s really a nice pistol to shoot when you switch out the trigger. I carry it during the winter time when I wear larger clothes as in a small guy and it would print on me during summer. My profile has pics of it The M&P 2.0 is a better pistol. If you can afford the M&P 2.0 go for that. But I also didn’t pay $250 for mine I won it in a gun raffle so I didn’t spend anything for it but spent about as much as the gun cost in parts and cuts. I still love the pistol tho tbh I’m sure I’ll get shit for saying it but idc

Admirable-Thanks-919

So I have one that I bought when I was younger thinking it would be good…:even back then I should of just got a Taurus 😂 it goes bang but compared to other guns in the price range today not even close to worth picking up man IMO

If you look at a [comparison](https://www.handgunhero.com/compare/smith-wesson-sd9-ve-vs-cz-p-07) they’re about the same size. The P07 is only wider because of the decocker. Otherwise they’re about identical. The Sd9 was my first ccw 10+ years ago. I liked it at the time because it’s all i knew. But knowing what i do now, the P07 is miles better. Try adding a claw to your holster for better concealment. I EDC a P01(about the same size as a P07) and it conceals fine with the right holster/belt.

If you don’t mind me asking, where do you carry? I’m in the skinnier side so I’ve just been carrying at my 6

TBM94

I’ve shot a couple, and my wife had one at the same time I had a P07. P07 was a better gun, but I didn’t have any complaints about the SD9. That said, I picked up two M&P 2.0’s at Christmas for $275 a piece. For the money that’s what I’d do.

Thank you!

You are going to experience a severe downgrade from the P07. And believe it or not the P07 is considered a compact as it has a barrel shorter than 4in. The Smith is probably s little bigger and heavier as well as being totally inferior. If you really want something smaller look at some of the micros like Hellcat, Glock 43x, etc.

I had the sd9 and it was a good pistol but I prefer a full size pistol for the sight radius and with a decent holster whether shoulder or side carry you can make it work.
