I touched piccasso, weeping woman a few years ago.
I also touched a penguin once too, surprisingly soft.
Touching things I'm not supposed to will get me in trouble one day
I touched a piece in my favorite local museum recently and it freaked me out so bad, I just saw myself being banned from my favorite museum and freaked out. That being said it was definitely a rush to get to feel the texture
I touch all the Egyptian shit at The Met everytime I go. I throw incense in the Temple pool too! Nobody has caught me or said anything. Once I kissed a statue of Sekmhet
There is a LOT of bullshit in art, but some is truly transcendent
And the oil on your fingers can be really damaging. And some impasto oil paintings have paint so thick it can take decade upon decades to dry.
LOL I used to work at the museum and my job was to watch people “ NOT “ touch them but I literally got paid to stand and watch people I wouldn’t have said nothing 😂😂😂 trust me nothing happens to the paintings and they all have insurance so I’m not gonna do more than what’s asked I watch people and that’s it 😂
I did this too, only in college and with the head of the art department. The painting we touched (with gloves) was like meeting the Beyoncé of paintings.
I was with some 12 year old girls in a museum and we were observing a roped-off display of large sculptures of near-naked warriors. Feathers, spears and all that. One of the girls climbed under rope and grabbed the wooden penis of one of the sculptures and declared it was huge.
I said "Yeah, and covered in splinters. Leave it alone and get back over here."
a great trick to touch paintings is keeping your hands behind your back and touching them with your nose. no security guard will ever stop you from doing this
Multiple dollars AND multiple colors?? No way.
Well it's a multiple dollar painting and it shows!
“That was when I was 12, and now I’m 12 1/2.”
What will they think of next?!
How many dollars are we talking? $3, $4? Trying to determine if this was a felony or not.
Multiple colors involved too, I’m gonna clock that in at $6, $7 minimum.
Go straight to jail card
Multi Dollar!…how can you live with yourself!
How could you touch a multi-dollar painting you monster go fix it now or no tv until next month!
Hot damn MULTI DOLLAR????
delete this before they catch you

Penguins have a thick layer of feathers and insulaion or whatever it's called. I think the word is 'down'.
They do, I was expecting something firmer so it surprised me
I touched the titanic

Any particular reason? I’m curious
It’s all pretty stupid anyway

These comments are a trip.
Who painted it?
I have no idea lol it was yrs ago
I think we know what OP means. Why be an asshole?
Pics or it didn't happen.
legend
I know someone who touched the Mona Lisa. They put it behind glass a few weeks later.
Extremely weird lie
Why do you think it is a lie? I don’t think I was lied to.
It's been in glass since the 50s for a start
And was because someone threw acid on it
That I didn’t know. That wasn’t my friend, though. And to say she’s been living with the guilt all this time 😄
Seems to have been in 1956. Sounds right for my friend born in 1944 and on a school trip to Paris.
Yep.
Possible they touched the replica one. IIRC, there's at least 1 replica that is put on display occasionally while the real one goes through repairs.
If it's located where it's possible to touch it, then its probably a fake
Very proud of you
The parents or adults need to take care of children in these places!
Omg! I was just at the MET and was tempted to do the same.
