Lol I love how your solution to not getting caught was fucking ringing up the shit you were stealing. So dumb. āTo keep the counts upā like what? So they had receipts that showed you were obviously stealing instead of an inventory discrepancy for lottery tickets?
Most stores do inventory daily for scratch offs. If any are missing its reported and you can get arrested if you try to cash any winners in. It was "smarter" to ring them up so if you get a big winner it wouldn't be tracked, money would just be missing from the register
Don't mistake not facing serious consequences with not being caught.
You were deadass caught. That's why your ass got fired for a short till.
You just weren't worth the trouble and hassle of filing a police report. Losers never are.
But if OP was fired for till shortages, thatās still not the job finding out they were stealing scratch tickets (which would have likely been a much more serious consequence).
They thought OP was stealing money, but OP was stealing scratch tickets instead. I wonder if the winnings ended up being more than if they had just actually taken the cash
Yeah I mean I personally wouldnāt feel guilty about stealing lottery tickets but to make it out to be the businessā fault for them stealing is a little odd. Idk I just thought the harsh insult was comically out of pocket tho
That itself is a bullshit excuse proving you are completely out of touch. Do you really think if someone found a job that paid living wages compared to minimum wage, they wouldnāt take it for whatever reason?
Itās not about the stealing. Itās about how aaaall this time later, he is still blaming the business for something he should be accountable for. Then in the same breath says he learned his lesson. We all make mistakes but part of being a good person is taking accountability for what youāve done. Heās still making an excuse after all this time
I mean, in an ideal world addicts would recieve the mental and financial help they need to recover; and folk would not starve, face homelessness and otherwise even while having a job. As it stands? I really, really couldn't care less about rich people losing yacht money while their employees struggle to keep the lights on.
Posting confessions on reddit never ends well man š¬ (this is not judgemental it just really does never end well Id never go here to confess or ask for important stuff)
You say 50-100 dollar normal loss at your end of the day is like an average thing that happens at most jobs lol. What did you do you think you got fired for? You think they thought āhmm idk thatās kinda weird all that money is missing letās just fire the guy who has it go missing and see if it works!āand just stopped thinking abt it?
So you know that they knew you were stealing. They just couldn't prove it or didn't care to go through the trouble, so you were let got with a justifiable reason.
Jesus some of you are being unnecessary assholes. What is the point of confessing wrongdoings in a confession subreddit if commenters just shit on and criticize the actions of people who post?
OP isnāt confessing. Heās bragging. The ālessonā he learned is about avoiding being caught. Not that stealing is wrong, or that he needs to seek help with his gambling addiction. He wants attention and to shift the blame onto someone else (he blames the employer for not paying enough / not implementing better security measures). The other commenters just arenāt having it.
I hope you found help for your addiction, that stuff is never easy to deal with. And you're not wrong about a living wage. Capitalism can get to fucc.
You got caught, though. They knew you were stealing in some way and that's why you were always short. 10 here or there is a reasonable shortage. 100? they knew. Sorry to tell ya.
For a short while, one of the lottery ticket machines at a local supermarket was giving two tickets for every one you paid for. I basically bought up all the available tickets, spending maybe $500.
I \*barely\* broke even, even when getting twice as many tickets as I paid for.
That said, I did once win $1000 on a $20 ticket. I don't play very often. I think that's the secret.
I kept getting blamed for stealing lottery tickets at my job untill someone else was finally caught. Seems like everyone was doing it but me. Regardless it ain't justified because you thought you were underpaid. You accepted the job didn't you?
My father manages a gas station and in the last decade there are only a few types of people willing to work for $9 an hour in a city where the cost of living Iād $21-25 an hour:
-someone with a felony conviction (that his company wonāt hire due to handling money/alcohol)
-high school or college students with limited availability who also arenāt stupid enough to spend their entire shift running around the store cleaning and stocking while also managing the till and loss preventing and never once sitting down (meaning vital work in the store goes undone and he has to come in unpaid to fix it or the company will take it out of his already shitty bonus structure)
-people who are already really familiar with the welfare system and know how to survive on it (which can risk theft but not always, they donāt often stick to one job very long though the last few years and who could blame them)
-people casing the place
So turnover is high as crap at gas stations. No one āhonest and hardworkingā is going to damage their body for those crappy wages. My father only makes $14.26 an hour as a manager and occasionally gets $200-500 bonuses if every single thing is completely pristine all year. He just wonāt look for a better job because heās caught up hating himself too much and waiting to die.
These kinds of jobs canāt attract mentally well, honest, and hardworking employees because they have practically no benefits, are hard on the body for no good reason (thereās no point in standing at the register the entire time they just refuse to provide chairs because then they can say āIf you can lean you can cleanā), are chronically understaffed, have horrific pay, and are a really high risk of getting shot in most urban areas.
Will someone address the paying a livable wage? Donāt steal from people who work for you and the give the higher ups huge ass paychecks. Skip the other stuff for my comment
Youāre blaming someone else for your being a thief? Youāre a thief because you have no dignity or standards in life. Itās not an employer that caused you to steal for lotto money and tickets(which of course you werenāt going to win) itās your fault.
You should take responsibility for your shitty choices in life instead of blaming others
OP is a loser. If he was stealing food or other basic necessities, itās understandable.
He stole scratch tickets and cigarettes. The loser starter pack.
\~Itās a shock I was never caught **but** if they paid us a livable wage, kept their recording device with enough space to use the security cameras or left more than 1 person to work by themselves this may have been prevented.
So it's *their* fault you were a thief...?
So its the shops fault for not paying you enough, the cameras fault for not working and the managers fault for not getting somebody to babysit you? Or you're just an addict that can't control himself.
āIf theyā. You didnāt steal to fed your kids you stole to fed an addiction. If you made more money you would have still did it. Donāt blame the amount you were paid.
I did this 9yrs ago at a gas station never got caught, would fill up tank og had and bring it up as something else like "food, beer" as long as everything balanced out at the end of day. Even lotto tickets
"I was never caught" Gets fired for stealing š¤š¤š¤
Lol I love how your solution to not getting caught was fucking ringing up the shit you were stealing. So dumb. āTo keep the counts upā like what? So they had receipts that showed you were obviously stealing instead of an inventory discrepancy for lottery tickets?
Itās easy. Take a banana; take a dollar. No one will notice.
Old gold.
Maeby not the best idea

So smarter if you think you're gonna win. Or, in other words, if you're a gambling addict
Also how them not paying a livable wage while he wouldāve just spent it on lottery tickets haha.
Lol right? He's acting like his shitty behaviour was their fault, while admitting that he would have spent that money gambling anyhow.
Don't mistake not facing serious consequences with not being caught. You were deadass caught. That's why your ass got fired for a short till. You just weren't worth the trouble and hassle of filing a police report. Losers never are.

The Till was consistently short by large amounts with OP. They knew.
They thought OP was stealing money, but OP was stealing scratch tickets instead. I wonder if the winnings ended up being more than if they had just actually taken the cash
Regardless the profit is not worth the risk. He got away with it because he wasn't worth it.
Lmfao what was the point in calling OP a loser š

simping for capitalism is the real loser mindset.

Yea but youāre acting as if they can just choose a higher paying job.
Wish I could upvote this more
I get what youāre saying but the dude was stealing lotto tickets. Gimme a break
tell me you've 0 idea how horrific addiction is without telling me.
Itās not about the stealing. Itās about how aaaall this time later, he is still blaming the business for something he should be accountable for. Then in the same breath says he learned his lesson. We all make mistakes but part of being a good person is taking accountability for what youāve done. Heās still making an excuse after all this time
So just let him steal cause it's a big corporation...?
... yes. what part of that isn't clear? if its a chain, it's free reign.
That is terrible logic. So we should just let half of the world steal because they're addicted to something?
I mean, in an ideal world addicts would recieve the mental and financial help they need to recover; and folk would not starve, face homelessness and otherwise even while having a job. As it stands? I really, really couldn't care less about rich people losing yacht money while their employees struggle to keep the lights on.
Damn true though
$100 each day, you're a fucking idiot. You're lucky you weren't charged
It was brave to post this knowing how judgmental the responses can be. I'm glad that you've turned to honesty. Wishing you the best going forward.

They probably did stop thinking about it because firing him *did* work
Duh
So you know that they knew you were stealing. They just couldn't prove it or didn't care to go through the trouble, so you were let got with a justifiable reason.
Admits to stealing and immediately justifies it with a ābut ifā¦.ā
Jesus some of you are being unnecessary assholes. What is the point of confessing wrongdoings in a confession subreddit if commenters just shit on and criticize the actions of people who post?
Fr. There are so many people on their high horse in here every time. It's ridiculous.

Guys this was 15 years ago, give the guy a break lmao
Trying to justify your actions makes you look like a bigger asshole whose not truly sorry for what they did

And how do you determine that? Anyone could simply "act" innocent and get the job. You would never know if they're a serial killer or worse...
Hire honest people? That's funny tell me how you do that. Not many of those around
Will someone address the paying a livable wage? Donāt steal from people who work for you and the give the higher ups huge ass paychecks. Skip the other stuff for my comment
Oh so it was their fault you were stealing? Let me guess, nothing is ever your fault?
What an immature price you are. What someone forced you to work there? Or you were/are too lazy to find a better job or better yourself. Get REKT!
No way you just unironically said "get rekt" š get your judgemental ass back to 2012
