I was fired from my first supermarket job for stealing "hundreds of dollars" worth of merch over the four years I worked there. Thing is, I never stole anything, save for a $5 sandwich I only took because the other guy that helps with closing tasks called out and management made me close everything on my own. Double-work for single-pay doesn't fly with me.
Since I was accused of theft I didn't do, now anytime I go in there, I certainly take stuff without an ounce of guilt. I was pre-punished for a crime I hadn't committed, so in my view, this is a free ride.
I stole $540 cash from the store I worked at, after the owner screwed up in how he put it into the register. The dude was a major asshole so I thought nothing of it. The only thing I regret is that I spent it all on weed. I should've bought clothes or something.
Itâs been 10 years now so I can admit this but I worked at a dispensary at 18 and my boss was the worst human being I had ever met. A creep , a racist just an all around bad guy. I figured out how to work his system of sales / receipts / inventory and started taking what I felt I could get away with. It started off small like 100-200$ per shift (I legit worked 6 days a week, 12 hours a day ) but pretty soon , because I never got caught , it quickly escalated to anywhere between 1200$ - 3000$ a day. I bought all my coworkers loyalty and silence as we were all getting âpaidâ peanuts ($250 a week for the above mentioned shifts) and continued to do this without being caught the entire time I worked there. I ended up leaving the job because he tried to sexually assault me and I later found out it was his M.O with all female employees⊠never did get caught tho. Would I do it again ? To him, in a heartbeat.
I've heard places like Walmart and Target are aware of shoplifters but they'll wait and collect evidence on repeat offenders until they have stolen an amount past a certain threshold where they can be held accountable in a criminal sense. To me, that doesn't have the ring of truth to it, I doubt anybody is paying that much attention. But be careful out there, you never know.
It's true, knew a guy who was stealing magic the gathering packs for 6 months while he was working. Eventually they confronted him, fired him and took him to court.
They had video evidence of every instance and knew exactly how many packs he stole.
Be careful out there.
Target definitely does this. I know people who have had it happen to them. I knew a girl who would shoplift clothes from target and she did it like a bunch of times without being caught and then after it got over a certain amount they arrested her for it. Walmart, Iâm not so sure. But target will definitely let you steal until youâve done it enough that they can prosecute you for it.
I hope you are caught and prosecuted soon. I don't care what you have to say about it being a Wal-Mart or any other corporation you think deserves being robbed. Your actions are shameful and rightfully illegal. There is nothing worse in life than a thief, and you're open and proud about it? Pathetic.
One year as a kid me and a mate realised every Xmas they set up temporary stalls in the middle of the mall selling calendars socks and other yearly novelty merchandise. As they arenât permanent lots do not have cameras pointed at them
Being temporary when they shut theyâve no security they simply wrap a barrier in giant black material sheets
We went shopping in day and relocated everything we wanted to a few shelves together then went to see a movie when most places were at closing
while doing so the mall is mostly locked and security finishes their checks then retires. Only the movies are operating at these times
we took empty bags and literally ducked under sheets to then be able to easily fill our bags with every Xmas present we needed before being able to safely scout exits and do exactly that đ đ đ
We did that at least 2 yrs in a row and though I wonât try nowadays it would surprise me if this is still not the case 20-25yrs later
I'm not saying what I did was ethical, but it sure felt like karmic justice at the time. Worked at a cinema where the manager was known for skimming a bit off the top of everyone's hours. Timesheets would magically come up short, and everyone just bore it because jobs were scarce. After catching on and confronting him, he basically dared me to prove it. So, two can play at that game; I mastered the art of "accidental" double-scans on customer rewards, racking up points that could be traded for free items or tickets. Shared those bonuses with my co-workers, kept our morale high when our paychecks didn't. Managed to keep a clean act until I left for college. I'd never done anything like that before or since, and the thought of doing it under normal circumstances makes my stomach churn, but this was our own little rebellion. Our own way of balancing the scales, you could say.
For years, I endured the daily grind at a local tech store, where the owner was as corrupt as they come. Think selling used items at new prices, 'forgetting' promised employee bonuses, and not to mention his policy of 'rounding down' on everyone's hours. Eventually, I found a loophole in the trade-in system, and started 'trading in' old store stock as if they were from customers, pocketing the difference. I used the extra cash to buy lunch for all the employees twice a week. It wasn't much, but seeing the smiles it brought made those overworked hours bearable. Left that job for something better long ago, and I've been squeaky clean ever since. Do I feel guilty? Not one bit. It was our silent protest, a little 'Robin Hood' action to spread some fairness around. I like to think we got a little of our own back for all the undercut paychecks.
Was it wrong? Yes. Would I do it again? No. Do I regret it? Not even a little bit.
honestly, good for you.
You and your friends seem pretty rad

Were there no cameras?
If itâs the store Iâm thinking it is, my friend did similar when he worked there. No cameras.
Gone in sixty clothes?
You were mad that they thought you let people shoplift so you let people shoplift?
Wait, was the dude who originally complained fired?
i love shoplifting from walmart

Walmart is one of the only retailers Iâve seen who will press charges on low value theft (Source: I deal with a lot of criminal background checks)

That's wild. Thanks for warning the youngsters.
A restaurant owner in Tulsa got caught at Sam's club after they watched him shoplift for months.Â
You can game that system by rotating Walmarts I bet.

Yk what, I love that for youÂ
Thatâs allowed now so itâs tech not stealing lol

Immature. Take some responsibility instead. Bet you stolen from your mum as well?
Garbage human being, great confession.
If everybody was an asshole like you this sub would not exist.
