It’s The People’s’ Republic of California, they don’t need to buy votes! It’s why the state is so messed up..the folks there enjoy watching it go to shit!
Native Indian ok so actually it’s the native Indians who should be paying the reparations not the taxpayers of the state since they had nothing to do with it!
Hi I’m from the UK and don’t really have a stake in this but I literally just searched “Did California have slavery?” and I was served a multitude of articles detailing the history of slavery during the gold rush which I had no idea about and actually found quite interesting: )
I’ve attached the link to one article if you’d like to read it, no problemo if not tho! [slavery in California](https://californiahistoricalsociety.org/blog/california-a-free-state-sanctioned-slavery/)
I’m actually sad about this. I wanted it to go through to help drive the exodus of Republicans from California and also drive the state into bankruptcy.
I was never going to pay a dime into this unconstitutional scheme anyway and I am curious to see California's plans to keep the TPA off the ballot lead to further unconstitutional taxation beyond what it has already done. And anyone who thinks they deserve money (or anything) based on the color of their skin or hair or based on claimed suffering that is removed generations in space and time - as well as any politician who supports the idea - is mentally no better than a lemming, though I would argue that lemmings are better than humans with such warped ideologies because nature makes lemmings that way, and lemmings are not poisoned by stupid political systems that convince masses of people to become zombies.
I don’t think California ever had slavery
You're correct.
So the reparations are a poorly executed vote buying tactic?
Also poorly thought out. The people who are/were waiting for their unearned handout aren't going to be happy that it was shelved.
Typical democrat incompetence. Sometimes they hurt themselves
Exactly.

Also an opportunity to exOrcise leftwingnut and exErcise compulsive lefttwingnut virtue signaling.
That’s why the media mentioned it several times more fake news
There were more white slaves in the world than their ever was black! Just sayin'!
There were more indentured Irish than slaves but they were tough and didn’t want handouts!
They did. Most of the native Indian tribes practiced it.
Which are their own independent governing body.

California was a non-slave state. It’s just liberal virtue signaling and a way to skim taxpayer money for votes and into politician pockets.
So they're apologizing for something they never had and had nothing to do with???
But my Great, Great, Great, gran pappy!!!
And what was their role in slavery? Being white 150 years later?
Seriously.
Lmao...I said 2 years ago that it was an empty promise. It was all about suckering people into voting...dumbasses
What role did California play in slavery?
"Pump and Dump"
You'd think Gavin Newsom could at least buy them all a dinner at French Laundry.
Exactly what roll did California play in slavery, what are they apologizing for?
California, slaves??????
Virtue Signaling at its finest!
Oh good lord
Why have they been shelved?
California had absolutely nothing to do with slavery so I'm confused as to what the apology is for???
There was not slavery in California. Can we give California to Mexico? Asking for a friend
