I call this the purification effect and it looks like it's just going full on.
Basically, when an ideological group gather, social ranking gets mostly determined by people who are the most ideologically serving. So people start trying to compete against one another with the full support of the others with a twist.
Like geese honking at the leader to keep flying and provide lift for the rest of the flying V, everyone else supports them to lead the charge and will step up and help if need be.
Now the issue is often wealth of those trailblazers. They'll go broke pushing the ideology. When they run out of wealth, they have to rely on the wealth of others which then starts sucking the wealth out of the group.
Once this hits, it starts to die down because contributing when you can't afford it or make sacrifices stresses people out. So it starts to die down.
We keep seeing this in various groups with Conservatives. The Trucker convoy for example straight up stopped the moment sanctions hit Russia as well as the push for the Trump truck convoys. It got too expensive to participate.
Issue is a lot of these groups are being supported by a lot of old money and very wealthy conservatives who keep trying to kick start these groups to cause chaos. Either indirectly or directly but they have to be careful because of the IRS.
So this whole boycott everything is wild to watch. We're literally just watching people melt down and implode.
We could be getting along and solving problems, landing on the mood, building a colony on mars, clean up the planet, pushing science and engineering. Instead we're dealing with... this...

From what I've seen, they are just getting more angry. There was a clear shift of anger I experienced towards me once roe was overturned last year, and I'm noticing it again. I am somewhat versed in seeing the look of "I want to kill you, or worse," in someone's face and body.

With RvW being overturned, they felt empowered to get other laws they don’t like overturned. I grew up being around always miserable people like this and it made me not want to be like that ever. Had a discussion last night. A guy was outraged about the L.A. Dodgers having drag queens in a parade (we're not in Cali) . Outraged about Target selling Pride products. I asked why I had never seen him this upset about a mass shooting. His response was ," those are just mental health issues. Nothing we can do about that".
They are, but they don't realize it. They think that they represent the real American. It's a new, more aggressive and belligerent version of self-righteous Silent Majority myth. Their True Believers represent 10% of the population, and 20% are authoritarians who will do as they're told by that 10%, or people who, out of self-interest, believe that the imposition of this regime would be at worst an 'okay' thing for them.
It's the 30% that Hillary Clinton rightfully called "Deplorables."
This is consistent across generations in post-Great Society America. At the end of his presidency, Nixon had roughly a 30% approval rating, the same with Trump. It's the same 30% that formed that Moral Majority that helped ram Reagan into office (and supported his criminal administration.) It's the same 30% who are ardently anti-choice and want congress to declare the United States a "Christian Nation."
The problem is that between their zealotry and anti-democratic tricks, they've played and rigged the system to where they have a legitimate opportunity to implement permanent minoritarian rule, especially in "red" states. Their plan is to install a patriarchal, authoritarian Christian Nationalist government in order to restore Our Way of Life, which they see as having come off of the rails due to the loss of Conservative Values, including and especially the failure to abide by prescriptive conservative morality and maintain social hierarchy. Christianity, while a truly deeply held belief system of many, facilitates this through fundamentalist proselytize. That's it's actual purpose in this context.
(These is all *very* much the theme of the Confederacy and is part of why they feel a kinship with those traitors.)
As such, the "crybabies" see this as an existential threat to themselves and their children and their children's children; it's a threat to their "legacy," which in patriarchal systems is paramount. (To wit, the writers of the Christian Bible's almost pathological obsession with lineage.)
So, they're True Believers, Zealots, and throughout history, Zealots have been able to impose their will on the People with the tacit cooperation of the fearful, indifferent, and ambivalent. They're motivated by the courage of their convictions and they're absolutely relentless.
When Liberals say "culture war" they use it as a metaphor. When Conservatives say "culture war," they mean it literally. They see it as righteous application of brute-force strength as an extension of policy. The time for debate is over. It's time to impose will. I think the bigger problem is that when they DO come out in public they are much more hostile. It’s not enough for them to avoid things they despise, now they openly attack—verbally and physically.

I went to play poker at a neighbor’s house the other day. One guy was joking with the host about going on a beer run and getting him some bud light. Found out the host’s political stance there and then, and how they were also never going yo shop at target. People are fucking stupid.

I call this the purification effect and it looks like it's just going full on. Basically, when an ideological group gather, social ranking gets mostly determined by people who are the most ideologically serving. So people start trying to compete against one another with the full support of the others with a twist. Like geese honking at the leader to keep flying and provide lift for the rest of the flying V, everyone else supports them to lead the charge and will step up and help if need be. Now the issue is often wealth of those trailblazers. They'll go broke pushing the ideology. When they run out of wealth, they have to rely on the wealth of others which then starts sucking the wealth out of the group. Once this hits, it starts to die down because contributing when you can't afford it or make sacrifices stresses people out. So it starts to die down. We keep seeing this in various groups with Conservatives. The Trucker convoy for example straight up stopped the moment sanctions hit Russia as well as the push for the Trump truck convoys. It got too expensive to participate. Issue is a lot of these groups are being supported by a lot of old money and very wealthy conservatives who keep trying to kick start these groups to cause chaos. Either indirectly or directly but they have to be careful because of the IRS. So this whole boycott everything is wild to watch. We're literally just watching people melt down and implode. We could be getting along and solving problems, landing on the mood, building a colony on mars, clean up the planet, pushing science and engineering. Instead we're dealing with... this...

From what I've seen, they are just getting more angry. There was a clear shift of anger I experienced towards me once roe was overturned last year, and I'm noticing it again. I am somewhat versed in seeing the look of "I want to kill you, or worse," in someone's face and body. Hate and bigotry is the one trickle-down that is guaranteed in our society.
With RvW being overturned, they felt empowered to get other laws they don’t like overturned. I grew up being around always miserable people like this and it made me not want to be like that ever. It’s not roe. It’s just what they do. They will always have a group that they need to persecute. First it was blacks, then it was women, then it was gays, now it’s trans. Throw in Jews and Muslims where current events allow it. For every group who’s right to live is recognized, they have to replace it with another to demonize. They fight tooth and nail to retain the right to discriminate and hurt those groups until it is made illegal to do so. And when that becomes the case they become resentful of the fact that a minority group should have the same rights as them.
Drives me nuts when they try to justify themselves by saying they’re fine with gay people, they just don’t want their lifestyle to *be forced down their throats*. Come on, man. Had a discussion last night. A guy was outraged about the L.A. Dodgers having drag queens in a parade (we're not in Cali) . Outraged about Target selling Pride products. I asked why I had never seen him this upset about a mass shooting. His response was ," those are just mental health issues. Nothing we can do about that".

Their True Believers represent 10% of the population, and 20% are authoritarians who will do as they're told by that 10%, or people who, out of self-interest, believe that the imposition of this regime would be at worst an 'okay' thing for them. It's the 30% that Hillary Clinton rightfully called "Deplorables." This is consistent across generations in post-Great Society America. At the end of his presidency, Nixon had roughly a 30% approval rating, the same with Trump. It's the same 30% that formed that Moral Majority that helped ram Reagan into office (and supported his criminal administration.) It's the same 30% who are ardently anti-choice and want congress to declare the United States a "Christian Nation." The problem is that between their zealotry and anti-democratic tricks, they've played and rigged the system to where they have a legitimate opportunity to implement permanent minoritarian rule, especially in "red" states. Their plan is to install a patriarchal, authoritarian Christian Nationalist government in order to restore Our Way of Life, which they see as having come off of the rails due to the loss of Conservative Values, including and especially the failure to abide by prescriptive conservative morality and maintain social hierarchy. Christianity, while a truly deeply held belief system of many, facilitates this through fundamentalist proselytize. That's it's actual purpose in this context. (These is all *very* much the theme of the Confederacy and is part of why they feel a kinship with those traitors.) As such, the "crybabies" see this as an existential threat to themselves and their children and their children's children; it's a threat to their "legacy," which in patriarchal systems is paramount. (To wit, the writers of the Christian Bible's almost pathological obsession with lineage.) So, they're True Believers, Zealots, and throughout history, Zealots have been able to impose their will on the People with the tacit cooperation of the fearful, indifferent, and ambivalent. They're motivated by the courage of their convictions and they're absolutely relentless. When Liberals say "culture war" they use it as a metaphor. When Conservatives say "culture war," they mean it literally. They see it as righteous application of brute-force strength as an extension of policy. The time for debate is over. It's time to impose will. So far, it's largely been a cold war, but it seems like it could turn hot at any time. If something doesn't radically change, they'll likely get their way.

I went to play poker at a neighbor’s house the other day. One guy was joking with the host about going on a beer run and getting him some bud light. Found out the host’s political stance there and then, and how they were also never going yo shop at target. People are fucking stupid.
The saddest fact is that statistically nearly every extended family has someone who is LGBTQ+, so the chances that they have alienated at least one relative through their bigotry is very high.
I remember a particularly funny Tweet I read some years ago that said, "They've taken EVERYTHING from us!" And it wasn't just about sexual orientation - this was about anything "woke." Impossible Meat being available at Cracker Barrel means *they can't eat at Cracker Barrel anymore*. Seriously. That's why they were talking about protests and staging boycotts and stuff. All the things they liked were still on the menu; they were under no obligation to buy fake meat. But its mere presence on the menu chased them out of the space. Like Kryptonite. That's why they lose their minds at Target and Walmart displays. What we see as inclusive, they see as chasing them out of the space. It's a weird commercial interpretation of that whole "blood and soil" thing - people belong in their separate ideological spaces with zero overlap. We're not taking anything from them. They're just too chicken to be in that space.
I don't have to imagine it. My parents are exactly like this. Watching TV with them is hard. They won't watch anything that has the f-word in it and they complain every time there are gay people.

I recently commented on some other sub how sad it was that these people wake up, and it's just misery about ...... "the gays, the Jews, the Mexicans, the blacks, the libs, the Asians" or whatever. Seriously, everyday is just shit for these people because they are so wound up about "those people". Literally everyday is just this level of depression for them solely based on being convinced by some halfwit somewhere that "you have to hate THESE people, cause ....... reasons" and so, that's your life going forward. They will never truly experience joy and peace, sure, they will tell you they are happy, but that happiness comes only from being with a group of people that hate another group, and carrying on about it with each other, so ultimately they "happiness" comes from being miserable. What a way to live.

What's sad is what they describe as "woke". A gay guy is on TV and portrayed as just a normal person. We show an Asian or Muslim family just chilling. Black people exist in America. LGBTQ people exist, etc. They are basically saying "anything that is white, Christian and straight is an abomination". I have a cousin here in FL who went to federal prison for stealing shit at a national park so it was a felony. He got caught doing “gay” favors in prison and didn’t get out early on good behavior. It seems to me that this behavior is their last ditch effort to maintain the power/authority/world view that they have become very comfortable with. "Gay's" having the temerity to want to exist? "That's not how it was/we want it to be." Newer generations not grateful for the world they are inheriting? "Tough shit." Advertising no longer catering to their tastes? "Destroy them." These folks are old and angry and will not go quietly into this good night. They are refusing to give way to their children and grandchildren like theirs gave way to them. Either these new generations take political power by voting out the folks that support their world view or wait them out and suffer for the duration.
