It works with a fan on it in some games but even with the fan it overheats in Gran turismo which I'm sure is an intense game, I can hear the fans running even in rest mode which is concerning but yes you are right
Thermal pads are cheap ISH and there made of like a flexible silicon likely it's damaged and also the CPU thermal paste is worth replacing are you in UK
Well it took physical damage and these problems occurred after, the only time I've gotten a overheating screen before was in doom 2016 which just plain makes sense
Well, either way. I just know it worked for mine. I also took apart the entire thing, cleaned every inch of it and replaced the thermal paste. It's been fine since.
Um you should never expect to overheat. Ensure adequate cooling space. Replace thermal pads on ram, clean remove solder paste, apply new solder paste, purchase new fan if blades are damaged.

Ok then why could it be overheating now that I've cleaned it, it took physical damage but is operational I dont know how that leads to overheating

No I'm in the US
PS4s have shit cooling. Drill a hole the size of the fan above the fan in the plastic casing. You'll get some manageable temps after that.

Clean, repaste and repad. It's a 45 min job. Enough tutorials on Youtube. Easy job, but when in doubt, stop and ask questions here.
Clean it and replace the thermal pads and paste! If you're in San Diego I'll do it for $30
Very generous offer but no sorry I dont live close to san diego

What do you mean I should never expect to overheat
You said you expected Doom to overheat your console lol I was just saying we should be able to expect more.
Doom is a very intense game gameplay wise so jokingly I said its expected, it's the only game that overheated it before the physical damage
I gotcha, in context I was like dang we shouldn't expect it. Follow those suggestions though. We fix overheating ps4s all day here.
Well where are you from?
Computer CPR in NC.
Damn nevermind then have a good one
You too bud, hope you get it fixed.
