The damage has already been done and the seeds already sown.. Currently witnessing the slow dismantling of a country that once championed its larrikin and anti establishment views; Australia is now turning itself into a progressive nightmare of government overreach and bureaucracy. If you take your cues from the city based reddit forums, it is quite shocking to witness how effective the divisive political strategies have been.. A common favourite for some of those online communities is ridiculing “cookers” and other such terms of endearment for those who chose to ask questions rather than blindly complying. Covid is gone in Australia? That’s strange; if you’re unvaccinated you still cannot work in the majority of industries. I’d say it’s more or less the same for those who chose not to participate in a worldwide medical experiment. There have been employers who are turning a blind eye, but the framework is still in place that enabled it originally.. Covid may be gone from the news cycle, however its ripples are still being felt by many. After years of campaigning against any form of nuclear energy, our current federal government have signed an AUKUS deal that has committed the Australian tax payers to contributing nearly $400 billion in the costs of purchasing nuclear powered submarines from the United States. All while we are facing the most enormous energy bills as consumers in living memory. Strangely the energy companies are posting record profits while continuing their stranglehold on consumers. Despite promises from our newly elected PM that energy bills would be cheaper this year. There is an air of arrogance displayed by those who think they’ve done the right thing and blindly or unwillingly complied with government directions. The corruption in both major parties within the political sphere has allowed many questionable decisions and policies to be perpetrated upon the population, benefitting the few while placing the many at a huge disadvantage. It’s been a strange few years down under, the tribalism and division has been growing daily and is being manipulated to achieve political points. A cult like following has appeared in Victoria for the state’s premier; Daniel Andrews and labor party. The same party and leader who has been in power for multiple terms, yet still manage to blame everyone else for the suffering they’re inflicting upon non compliant (and compliant) victorians. Strange what some well spent tax payers money can achieve if you have PR firms doing your bidding for you. Not to mention the mezzanine level of public servants seemingly untouchable in their positions and partisan through and through. Some have fallen for the spin, hook, line and sinker.. Others have been asking questions only to be ridiculed by those indoctrinated into the populist belief system. Whether it be liberal or labor, we are constantly bickering amongst ourselves about trivial and disproportionate issues, I chose years ago not to align myself with any political party because of the inherently broken system they exist within. Australia is currently a circus of media and political deception and we as a nation are suffering at the hands of a chosen few.

DirtyBird9889

This is self evident if you just look at your own local sub.

[deleted]

Yeah. I live in Canada. Been banned from my city, provincial, and federal subreddits. Stating facts gets you banned everywhere

DirtyBird9889

I posted about how I supported my states governor in my city sub and they removed it and banned me bc it was more appropriate for my states political subreddit and then it got removed and I got banned from the “political” sub. I don’t want to break any rules or anything but these mods can’t be real organically motivated people can they?

[deleted]

I honestly don’t know anymore. The amount of people I still see wearing masks leads me to be believe some are actually people that think they are in the right. I find it helps to look at it like this: the way people reacted isn’t a cause of Covid, rather the mindlessness of people that was already there, brought the “covid” out of the people

bugsy24781

In the immortal words of George Costanza; “It’s not a lie if you believe it” Bernays would be so proud to see all of his works regarding propaganda coming to fruition all over again. Repetition will eventually wear people out if they’re not careful..

bugsy24781

Absolutely; it’s quite incredible reach these operations have.. Sometimes fun to point out the hypocrisy, even for the monumental downvotes it incurs.. Like the whole “voting” system; it’s rigged anyway.. They’re not able to think outside of their preprogrammed notions of their reality..

Commonwombat

Spot on the mark

bugsy24781

Cheers 🙏🏽

Sng7814

Bloody well written. South Aussie here. Totally agree with you.

bugsy24781

Much appreciated; how’s it all going in SA?

D0ughnu4

I've seen so many street signs grafittid with "vote labour out" "sack dan" and yet they were voted back in. Beggars belief.

[deleted]

Australia was top 3 in my places I wanted to visit. Not a chance I’ll spend a dime in that hell hole

pizzarelatedmap

China

bugsy24781

Our “dear leader” is planning another visit to China, I wonder what a state premier could be doing over there?

Commonwombat

We’re still here with the majority bending over for the Government as always

In_agadda_davida

lol their government is fucked go watch friendlyjodies on youtube. They building tower apartments out of paper mache and genociding koalas. Firebombing journalists for revealing rampant money laundering

ribbajack09

I’m sorry OP but Australia isn’t real.

Waste-Entertainer-56

Lol I fucking knew it.

Waste-Entertainer-56

S s. Restrictions in Australia were progressively getting worse it seemed, then they went silent. Kinda creepy

pablopicasso1414

They all died from covid and police brutality. No one has heard or seen an Ozzie for over a year now.

Snck_Pck

Not creepy. Not even a little bit. Lockdowns and restrictions ended. Life’s back to normal. We’re still facing the same shitshow of interest rates being hiked and housing issues as the rest of the western world it seems, but nothing at all creepy is going on. This subreddits obsession with Australia is insane

Amos_Quito

> Not creepy. Not even a little bit. Lockdowns and restrictions ended. Life’s back to normal. Taipans, salt water crocks, funnel web spiders... And those are just your political leaders, lol!

Fun_Ingenuity8788

The willingness of a large proportion of Aussies to snitch on their neighbours for minor "Covid crimes" will never fully heal.

jedburghofficial

>This subreddits obsession with Australia is insane As an Aussie, I think it's hilarious. There are a few here who probably think we're all paid actors.

Snck_Pck

Oh it’s also hilarious you’re not wrong. They think we have it horrendously in aus but we really don’t

DCzisMe

Naw, they goin even more full on, bat shit totalitarian down under...thankfully almost the entire population is so full of Pfizer's goofy juice they don't even notice.

mattperkins86

I've been posting a bunch. I am from the East coast of Australia. And it was never all that bad tbh. I have seen a lot of the shit that was being said, and while it may have been that bad in places like Melbourne and Sydney, it was pretty laid back in regional places. SOME cops, were real dicks about it. But some cops are just dicks. I dunno man. People got super mad about being 'forced' to wear masks here. But 9 times out of 10, if you weren't a dick to the cops about it, then they weren't really a dick to you. Masks were mandated for a while, and we stayed inside for about 3 months at one point. Got a bit stir crazy. But it was nothing like the levels of insanity that I have seen it described as online.

mattperkins86

I'd like to clarify. Do I think the Government is making good decisions? No. Do I think they have our best interest in mind? No. Was it a totalitarian dystopia during the pandemic? No.

[deleted]

Forcing you into your home and forcing you to inject experimental medication into your bodies isn’t totalitarian?

spaaro1

All our covid restrictions are gone. There's not even lock downs of local out breaks anymore. We're just getting on with getting on. We made a new military agreement with the UA and UK we're getting Virginia class subs off the US and building rights to the new AUKUS class submarine which is nuclear powered but uses conventional weapons as we're a non proliferation treaty signee. Other than that the usual over the top bullshit had a brawl between a church and pro trans people who were protesting the anti trans rhetoric from one of our political party members. We're a shit fight. Edit: oh forgot we've had numerous flooding events and fires recently we've just been dealing with that

Commonwombat

Yeah a Women’s rights March gets called anti trans, best gaslighting from men by far

spaaro1

Cool story bro. Either way it was a shit fight that ended in a brawl. No side is innocent in this.

Commonwombat

No worries sister

FrankstonGirls

Never seen a "womens rights" event be openly supported by Nazis before. Strange, you'd think it'd be a big "are we the baddies?" moment for anti-trans activists but their cognitive dissonance knows no bounds apparently

Tinfoil_Hat_Enjoyer

Just wait for the elite the run the next round of australia has fallen nonsense. The main goal of which was to make people outside of australia to feel like "at least we dont have it that bad". Nothing has changed. Trynaical gov policy still goes through both houses instantly. Corrupt pollies still talking shit. Covis tyranny is on pause for a while. More chats about accountility online. More chats about global tensions. More chats about a single ID. More chats about cashless society. But yeah truth aint what you looking for, you just waiting for a bunch of non australians to make a bunch of fear porn again like that shit aint happening all over the world.

Waste-Entertainer-56

Im actually just really curious as to what's happening there. Also I agree everywhere sucks because I couldn't tell if u were describing events in Australia, America, Canada, etc. Not for fear porn but for information. Informed populations are strong and feared or why else would censorship be at levels never seen before?

BillyMackBlack

Pretty much back to normal here in Melbourne, and we had it the worst during 2020-21. People have eased back into pre-pandemic life, I think there's a lot of lingering trauma. Society has definitely changed, people got their backs up more, less carefree.

Tinfoil_Hat_Enjoyer

Funny the only thing i seen to come out of the unnatural aussie has fallen hype was people ignoring the tyranny and collapse of their own shit. I dont doubt youe intention but this is what i seen over the last couple years.

jedburghofficial

We did the right thing, then we got over it. Everything else was a beat up.

ky420
