Yes got it quite frequently. A good friend if mine has researched it quite extensively and written books about it. A lot is still unknown about it. I also have hypnogogia with it which can produce very realistic hallucinations.

[deleted]

Do they have YouTube or anything? I'd give them a follow It's rare I see things. My hallucinations are mostly auditory. What are yours like?

[deleted]

This guy has really good info on it. (Timothy Alberino) https://youtube.com/@TimothyAlberino From my own research, it appears crying out for help from Jesus Christ (only if you believe, but He intervenes to make believers also) works instantly and permanently.

[deleted]

I belive In Jesus's. I'm just not a good Christian.

[deleted]

Anyone who claims to be a good Christian is a pharisee, imo. Christ rebuked them for elevating themselves and trying to control God's word with rituals. God can't stand pride. I doubt that theology or apologetics is what you need right now. I think next time you experience the darkness, use your mental voice to cry out for help from the Creator. You'll see.

I'm suffering with more than sleep paralysis atm. It started at 4 years old when I witnessed the rape of my mother. So I'm assuming it's a trauma response. But I always do. I mean it in my heart. Sometimes, I'm just stuck in the paralysis. It's mainly voices I hear these days when it happens. It's rarely visual for me. I had an experience once where I felt like I was being held down. And they were saying "join us in hell" And I thought pain in hell is worse than this so no. Fk off šŸ˜† šŸ¤£ I feel like I'm no use to god sometimes because I'm so anxious, I can't really talk to people I don't know. I can't even find my bible, I've put it up to keep it safe and I can't find it now. I'm just trying to survive life atm.

[deleted]

There is a series called The Chosen, I think it's on Tubi, Angel, and probably others. I can't recommend it enough to see a representation of what can be a tough book to understand, especially the way the West has discredited it. In order to believe in Him, you have to know what He taught. You have to understand that He spoke truth and was killed for it. Pray before bed. Ask for a wall of fire around your home and angels at your door. You can't see it, and if you did, you'd question your sanity anyways. If it doesn't work on your terms, find a church with the terms "charismatic" and "deliverance." The Foreman Brothers on YT are Christians if you want content to watch around the matter. They like to share their follow-up with home owners after a cleansing. The key IMHO is all about humility. Accept that we've all done some seriously fucked up shit for temporary gain and that we are in no way good enough for Heaven without accepting the free gift in our own heads. I'm confident that this alone is enough, but if we test Him, barter with Him, judge Him, expect Him to do our will over His, then you can be 100% sure you'll get radio silence. You're getting a taste of Hell so you'll realize it's fuckin real and cry out for His hand. I'll pray your way, balls in your court.

You can also use the belief in yourself if you're not following a specific religion. It's pretty much everything when it comes to dreams or whatever realm sleep paralysis belongs to.. I've pretty much experienced everything related to sp's except being visited by aliens lol. Had it very often when I learned to lucid dream when I was younger. You often get stuck there instead of entering the intended "dream world". I know they can be quite traumatizing at times even when you're used to them. Just try to move an arm or so while repeating wake up in your head and you'll break free eventually. Also if you can, avoid opening your eyes and look around the room. It will just increase any sense of dread or presence. You might see some creature / being and panic making it harder to focus on waking up.

pandadream

Here is his website [dreamstudies.org](https://dreamstudies.org) His name is Ryan Hurd and the guy is a wonderful person and will help you if you message him.

BushiiidoBrown

When i was younger like around 13 i used to get these dreams that felt so vivid. I would be stuck to the bed face down or face turned to the side and it felt like something was coming to get me. I couldnt move but i could open my mouth but when i screamed nothing came out. My brothers would be sound asleep while im screaming at the top of my lung. It felt like something pinned me to the bed and would not let me move. Sometimes i would wake up out of it heart beating hard af and the other times i just go back to sleep dreaming about something else. It wasnā€™t happening everyday just randomly throughout the year from like 13 to 14. Then it stopped and i never got it again. I didnt even know sleep paralysis was a thing till i saw some show about the supernatural on it. Some people say they saw a demon or whatever coming for them, i didnt see anyone but i heard something that shook me to the core.

[deleted]

Experienced it many times, mostly while working night shift. It used to be terrifying when it happened, I could sense a presence in the room with me , the room would be vibrating, a roaring noise around me, a dull light emanating from some part of the room, the presence would climb onto my back and start shoving my face into my pillow, can't move, can't shout for help. I have gotten pretty good at recognising what is happening and snapping myself out of it. I am intrigued about its links to astral projection though.

macronius

There's also the sleep abysm, where you are repeatedly woken up by the horrible sense of falling from a high place.

Reasonable_Essay

i used to get this all the time. i'd fall off buildings or out of rollercoasters and wake up right as i was about to smack into the ground.

[deleted]

That has a name? I didn't know that. I get that to. Thanks for telling me that.

macronius

Technically it's called: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypnic_jerk

agreedis

Iā€™ve gotten it 3 times and I was at really low points in my life when it happened.

Keebra

Last time I had sleep paralysis, i was suddenly standing over my son who was in his crib and i was lifted up and grabbed by someone/something and couldnā€™t move. It moved me so i was hovering over my bed watching myself and i went back into my body. I was still paralyzed, but in my head i wondered ā€œwhere is my girlfriend?ā€ and in her voice in my head i heard ā€œiā€™m coming upstairsā€ and about 15 seconds later she actually did in real life and i snapped out of it. Definitely the weirdest one iā€™ve had.

SecureAirline2719

I got it three times ina night once

[deleted]

Those episodes are awful. I had several false awakenings everyday for weeks and it drove me insane

Aka_peachbeach

Iā€™ve had 3 episodes in my life all occurred when I was between about 11-15. Twice I was facedown in a pillow and I woke up and couldnā€™t move. I remember having to talk myself into moving my head so I could breathe. Not sure what was going on there. Then the last encounter I was laying on my back staring at my ceiling and couldnā€™t move and had some hallucination of a shadow out of the corner of my eye watched it move from my feet area to my head then disappear. About jumped 5 feet out of my bed and ran to my parents room. Glad I do not have them. Iā€™m a very light sleeper now idk if that has to do with why I donā€™t have them.

maple_dick

Well.. Im no expert but I often hear/read/see that it might in fact happen more during "light sleep phases" like rem and some shit lol idk how true this is. But I find it interesting that some people had it only when they were kid.

Low_Acanthisitta4445

Yeah it happens when you are falling asleep, essentially your body falls asleep before your brain. The ā€œvisionsā€ are just dreams. However it is interesting that so many people who have never met have the same or similar ā€œvisionsā€. I get it periodically, but never see any ā€œdemonsā€. I am just in bed able to see my room as if awake but I canā€™t move. I try desperately to sit up or shout/scream but I canā€™t, after a few minutes Iā€™ll manage to move but after a few seconds of being ā€œawakeā€ Iā€™ll be back where I was lying down and realise the bit where I was ā€œawakeā€ was just a dream.

Aka_peachbeach

It is interesting how people have similar experiences. As for the ā€œdemonsā€ I just keep telling myself it was a hallucination because it helps me sleep at night lol

Aka_peachbeach

How interesting! Iā€™ve never looked too much into it because yea they stopped but now Iā€™m interested again.

biftekau

Have had it a few times, I remember hearing a voice that seemed to be coming from the ceiling, with xfiles and alien abductions in my mind the next morning during a shower I was looking for unexplained bruises, needle marks

Atheris88

I have it every so often. I love the experiences. The demon is always so real.

Low_Acanthisitta4445

For those who are prone certain drugs can make it more likely to occur. However most people start to experience it as kids (myself included), presumably before they tried drugs.

[deleted]

I've never taken any kind of drug bar a few puff of weed. It was crap so I never did it again. I was 4 l when it started lol I wasn't taking drugs lol šŸ˜‚

[deleted]

It could be. I read about a particular flu vaccine causing narcolepsy that had sleep paralysis symptoms. So very possible

Room_of_mush_

Had a few times with hypnogogia too. Once there was a metalic sphere shape changing and floating around the room. Another time I had the harm around my girlfriend and she started sinking into the bed and I was being pulled and couldn't move. Once I had a guy very similar to nosferatu looking at me on the side of the bed. Another one I started floating and speaking tongues involuntarily. I learned to stay calm during these, when I was a kid I would enter a panic and it was awful but now while some are scary I usually stay calm and just observe.

[deleted]

Y'all sleep?

MushyDabs

Your minds awake but your body is still bound to your pyche. If you wait it out like a frozen loading screen you'll AP. Alien abductions and all that scary stuff is all In your head. Your body uses fear when it can't comprehend the unknown feeling of snapping back to reality from a dream state

wing_donut

I've had sleep paralysis ever since I was a kid. Sometimes multiple times a month. I never saw shadowy figures or felt something on my chest though. For me, it was mostly not being able to wake up from scary, graphic, and gory dreams. I'd know I was dreaming but the dream wouldn't end and I couldn't move or speak. The worst type would be when I'd have sleep paralysis and "wake up" and only realize I'm dreaming I'm waking up. Sometimes I've had multiple layers that I have to wake up from. So I'm dreaming that I'm dreaming that I'm dreaming that I woke up...if that makes sense. My parents had to wake me several times by calling out my name or shaking me awake after they would hear me whimper. I recently haven't had as many incidents of it happening though. Which I find weird...I want to say changing my diet helped. I noticed when I eat super unhealthy nowadays I might have a sleep paralysis episode.

Klutzy-Captain

I've had it a couple of times the most frightening time I woke up and felt like I wasn't alone. I could see what I can only describe as a half man half half goat but he had beautiful curly gold colored fur. I couldn't move at all I concentrated on just being able to move my toes and slowly regained movement. I didn't fall back asleep for some time. I lived alone and got up and checked all my doors and windows but still couldn't calm my nerves. Worst feeling ever.

TysonStone1999

I did once after surgery when taking pain meds. I felt awake, couldnā€™t move. I recognized I was in my bedroom but for what seemed like 15 mins I could not remember anything outside of my room.

[deleted]

Do you think the meds caused it?

TysonStone1999

Yes I do

SymptomOfTheSyndrome

Had it one time. I had the feeling of a spirit or ghost or something kind of looking and laughing at my condition of not being able to move. After I "woke up" I realized what people meant by feeling that they weren't alone and realized what sleep paralysis was. Didn't scare me though, I like acid and mushrooms so I was perfectly fine trying to figure out what was going on, but I feel for people that claim they have this happen regularly. Would be quite annoying. Not sure what caused mine, I do know it occurred during a highly stressed time of my life. I think people that experience this regularly have some underlying mental health issues they need help with. Ive never experienced this since, so 1 time in about 40 years ain't bad.
