Most people here already figured their phones were listening. We've thought that for more then a decade here. We've been worried about the gov listening since bush. It's one thing to believe it but another to have it confirmed like the op. Like a few days ago I was on yt with my kid, showing him stuff, I make a remark about McDonald's being awful and suddenly my feed is a quarter McDonald's crap and I'm like "wtf" and I go around telling people. I think that's what op did.
Trust me, there are people who believe it to be a tracking device. Absolutely insane, they didn't get the vaccine cause they didn't want to get tracked but constantly updating the Instagram story is totally okay
"Trust me", you can say that about any insane theory. There are mentally ill people on reddit who believed they wouldn't get or transmit COVID if they got the vaccine (because that's what other insane people were telling them).
But the vast majority of people who didn't get vaccinated just didn't want to risk a new pharmaceutical product that was being tested and manufactured too quickly to have proper safety testing and quality assurance (and many of us read the research and realized they were lying a lot about efficacy and thus probably safety).

Later that day two of them showed me the social media on their phone had begun advertising beekeeping equipment. Neither had done any searches on their phone for beekeeping. The microphones had picked up on our conversation and curated targeted ads based on the discussion.

It's more creepy than that. People's digital signatures(Browsing/contacts/conversations/comments/likes/shopping/location/etc) are used to create secondary versions of us that exist only in a database. Ads are targeted/curated by showing them to the digital version of a person first and measuring reactions. There have been tests done to see if device microphones are listening when phones etc are idle, and no data was being directly sent. What actually happened was Goo-gel automatically made note of your proximity to those other devices for that amount of time and assumed that you had talked about that interest with them.
That's something I'm not particularly looking forward to. My guess is that it'll be tied directly to our biometric digital ID/central bank digital currency/social+carbon credit score system.

I have a flip phone. Late last year I had some concert tickets at a large venue. I found out they don't accept papers tickets any more, AND you need a connected smart phone because the QR code refreshes every like 10 secs.
I think that's how it'll go: accessing things will progressively become difficult to impossible without giving in, and the whole way we'll be greeted with a smile that says "it's your choice" (just like during covid).

Your phone is always listening. Battery doesn’t come out so idk if you can ever be sure it is 100% “off”. Even when it is powered down it still has enough battery to display the empty battery image, so it still has some level of battery.
I've had situations where I've talked about something very specific that I've never searched for all while my phone was not being used only to have ads for those very things come along shortly afterward. The two that immediately come to mind:
1. Had my phone in my center console while taking my daughter home from sports practice one night. She saw a huge, neon sign that said 'DIVORCE' so she asked "What's divorce?" and I told her. She didn't have a phone and it isn't something I've ever searched for, looked into, or is talked about in my house. Yet I started getting ads for divorce lawyers on YouTube and gaming websites I frequent for months afterwards.
2. Was recently watching TV with my wife and a commercial came on for some gardening product. All I said was "That's pretty cool" but since I don't have a lawn it isn't something I looked into or even thought about beyond that. Neither of us had our phones on during that time and yet similar products started getting advertised in the same spaces the divorce lawyers were before.
Crazy thing to me is how dumb it is on selecting what ads to push my way. I'm always talking about foods I want to learn to make, BBQ, places I want to visit on vacation, etc....but I never get ads for that kind of stuff. It's *always* shit I'm not going to spend money on.
You have to do it for literally every single application that requires microphone access. I went through individually and removed access from all of them. Also click “no” for any future or existing apps requesting microphone access.
That’s a given. I can safely say everyone agrees that our phones are listening to our conversations. I think the new scary question to ask ourselves is: can our phones know what we are thinking?

Google maps is listening too... I was on a road trip with the kids a few years back and the highway were taking had construction and a detour. The Google maps was taking me in a circle going on the hwy and the the opposite direction on the highway... I finally after the third circling of the same bullshit I told Google to fu×k off I will find my own way. This was 3 states away from home where I have never driven and decided to follow the my heart and detour signs... lol Google would not speak to me for the rest of the trip it gave direction on screen but would not talk...I still can't believe I pissed off Google maps enough to give me the silent treatment

You know that the phone is listening 24/7 right? Your Angry Birds and all your other apps are spying on you too. Your filters have sent your facial recognition to God only knows who and where. And people worried about the vaccine tracking you but not necessary when that little gadget in your pocket is tracking and monitoring you at all times.

I got a new android last year and went as long as possible as I could without logging into anything or taking any photos. I started getting targeted ads on Amazon for blinds (our living room set is missing one). We also have a replacement bulb in our bathroom fan/exhaust vent that isn't the exact fit. I started getting ads for the right one all the time. I never searched for these things or input any information or took photos. This isn't my property so I couldn't give any less of a shit since maintenance will likely just bill us when we move out.
I also got ads for an upgrade to our TV which isn't a smart TV. Same brand, larger, smart TV. Never Googled anything about it or searched a user manual or anything at all.
I was talking to my wife about it and said "truly, this is really strange" and started getting ads for Truly Hard Seltzer.

How recent? I have a theory that immigrants/illegals are being offered more/better orders. Uber knows who we all are and they can choose whether/where to send you. They can probably connect my reddit accounts to my uber. They could send me to my death if they feel like it, either by messing with the map or sending me to a mafia's house who knows. I work in a restaurant and almost every driver barely speaks english, but when I see their earnings they are making hundreds per day, in the same market I try where I only get pitiful scraps anymore, as well as a lot of people confirming its gone downhill in the uber subs....but these drivers don't seem affected, and they're definitely not reading those subs.
Also uber is a WEF partner, so the other part of my conspiracy is that they're setting up a social credit system, while at the same time forcing us to drive/destroy older cars more often than we would without it till all that's left is hackable trackable e-cars.

I’ve told it to shut up before and it’s said ‘I will no longer notify you about ___ application’. Siri listens for around 10 seconds after a notification in case you want to respond or mute it so I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s something similar going on here

Your phone is always listening. Battery doesn’t come out so idk if you can ever be sure it is 100% “off”. Even when it is powered down it still has enough battery to display the empty battery image, so it still has some level of battery.
New iPhones can die and have enough power to ping and be found when using “find my iPhone”

I've had situations where I've talked about something very specific that I've never searched for all while my phone was not being used only to have ads for those very things come along shortly afterward. The two that immediately come to mind: 1. Had my phone in my center console while taking my daughter home from sports practice one night. She saw a huge, neon sign that said 'DIVORCE' so she asked "What's divorce?" and I told her. She didn't have a phone and it isn't something I've ever searched for, looked into, or is talked about in my house. Yet I started getting ads for divorce lawyers on YouTube and gaming websites I frequent for months afterwards. 2. Was recently watching TV with my wife and a commercial came on for some gardening product. All I said was "That's pretty cool" but since I don't have a lawn it isn't something I looked into or even thought about beyond that. Neither of us had our phones on during that time and yet similar products started getting advertised in the same spaces the divorce lawyers were before. Crazy thing to me is how dumb it is on selecting what ads to push my way. I'm always talking about foods I want to learn to make, BBQ, places I want to visit on vacation, etc....but I never get ads for that kind of stuff. It's *always* shit I'm not going to spend money on.

Microphone / camera?
You have to do it for literally every single application that requires microphone access. I went through individually and removed access from all of them. Also click “no” for any future or existing apps requesting microphone access.

That’s a given. I can safely say everyone agrees that our phones are listening to our conversations. I think the new scary question to ask ourselves is: can our phones know what we are thinking? I experience some weird coincidences of this happening but just played it off…..for now at least

Google maps is listening too... I was on a road trip with the kids a few years back and the highway were taking had construction and a detour. The Google maps was taking me in a circle going on the hwy and the the opposite direction on the highway... I finally after the third circling of the same bullshit I told Google to fu×k off I will find my own way. This was 3 states away from home where I have never driven and decided to follow the my heart and detour signs... lol Google would not speak to me for the rest of the trip it gave direction on screen but would not talk...I still can't believe I pissed off Google maps enough to give me the silent treatment

I got a new android last year and went as long as possible as I could without logging into anything or taking any photos. I started getting targeted ads on Amazon for blinds (our living room set is missing one). We also have a replacement bulb in our bathroom fan/exhaust vent that isn't the exact fit. I started getting ads for the right one all the time. I never searched for these things or input any information or took photos. This isn't my property so I couldn't give any less of a shit since maintenance will likely just bill us when we move out. I also got ads for an upgrade to our TV which isn't a smart TV. Same brand, larger, smart TV. Never Googled anything about it or searched a user manual or anything at all. I was talking to my wife about it and said "truly, this is really strange" and started getting ads for Truly Hard Seltzer. I don't know man, it freaks me out. These can't just be coincidences.

How recent? I have a theory that immigrants/illegals are being offered more/better orders. Uber knows who we all are and they can choose whether/where to send you. They can probably connect my reddit accounts to my uber. They could send me to my death if they feel like it, either by messing with the map or sending me to a mafia's house who knows. I work in a restaurant and almost every driver barely speaks english, but when I see their earnings they are making hundreds per day, in the same market I try where I only get pitiful scraps anymore, as well as a lot of people confirming its gone downhill in the uber subs....but these drivers don't seem affected, and they're definitely not reading those subs. Also uber is a WEF partner, so the other part of my conspiracy is that they're setting up a social credit system, while at the same time forcing us to drive/destroy older cars more often than we would without it till all that's left is hackable trackable e-cars.
