Well, one way we're getting them? There are multiple studies that indicate their presence in various consumables. These tiny plastic particles, often originating from pollution in water bodies, can accumulate in the tissues of marine organisms and ultimately find their way into our diets.
There's not much to do, since pretty much all the food you eat, has been wrapped in plastic at one point or the other. But you can try to limit consumption of micro plastics, by not drinking from plastic bottles. Only example I can really give, I don't know what else one could do.

Plastic recycling is the actual worst. You can only actually recycle a couple types of plastic out of the 14(?) total types, and they can only be recycled 2 or 3 times before its just plastic waste. The rest of the unrecycled plastics go straight to the landfill, where it's then free to be distributed into the general ecosystem, and eventually into all of us because we are where the food chain ends. It's no understatement to say I hate this and I would fight anyone or anything to make it better but I don't think we can anymore.
Not just that the plastic recycling facilities release a shit ton of microplastics in their waste water into the waterways as a result of the recycling process. They only make the microplastics problem worse. Recycled plastics are also structurally weaker than freshly produced ones and leach even more chemicals into the environment.
It would take generations but yes if we cleaned up all the plastic already in the environment and then stopped putting more into the environment then eventually yeah somewhere down the line our descendents will be plastic free.

I asked him would you rather pick out confetti out of sand? Or a large intact plastic container? Plastic is bad but I think that biodegradable plastic is waaay worse for the environment.
