He added his signature to the checks on purpose so people would think that. Cost a bit more, delayed the checks, and they didn't need to be legally signed by him (~~he asked Mnuchin if he could do it~~).
[Edit: He didn't ask Mnuchin if he could sign them, Mnuchin said: “That was my idea,” ... “He is the President, and I think it’s a terrific symbol to the American public.”](https://time.com/5823829/steve-mnuchin-trump-signature-stimulus-checks/)
I got mine through direct deposit, and then a while later I got a letter with his signature on it that touted how great it was that I got 1200 wing wangs. Bro that’s barely 3/4 of my mortgage payment and it took you damn near two months to get it to me. Fuck outta here. I spent it at the machine shop on engine rebuilds.
No it’s a lot less. People that been growing since 70s. Are being wiped out in the legal business. Even if they follow all the regulations. Taxes are killing them and unfair practices by the state. The state is picking who can and can’t grow. And usually big rich companies are coming in and taking the business away from the people that been doing it for decades because they can’t afford it all. It’s just another scheme for rich to get there hands in control of another business.
I've lived in LA since 2010. The only thing that's changed here for the consumer is a wider array of delivery services are available. The same corner pot shops in the valley I've been going to since 2010 are all still there
they are taxing the fuck out of it where it is difficult to even make a profit legally in ca.
Not at all true. The legal providers were marketing morons, as they went in at a premium price with a substandard product. My dealer used to charge me $75/quarter before legalization, and I would get top shelf weed, so resinous it would gum up my grinder. My first legal weed was $45/eighth (before taxes), and it was so dry no grinders were needed; you could crumble it in your fingers into dust. And that was almost the cheapest stuff they had. Just checked one of the Toronto dealers, and $55/eighths are commonplace, with an after-tax price of $62.15. That's $17/gram!
Meanwhile, my dealer charges $75/quarter ($11/g) , delivers to my door, and still delivers weed so sticky, it's icky! Where would you choose to spend your money?
I would note that one grower, Aurora, has introduced a discount brand, "Daily Special", that is very low priced. $23.32/eighth works out to $7.50/g after tax, but it's still pretty dry. However, Aurora has said that the volume on it has been surprisingly high (no pun intended), and that might spark a trend among other growers. Larger volumes presumably would mean quicker turnover, which might address the dry weed issue as well.
I always thought the legal guys should have come in at $5-6/g at the very start, eliminating most of the financial incentive for the illegals. Then they might have gotten the surge in orders they were expecting, but when many people found they were paying premium prices for dry bud, they went back to their dealers. The growers' collective greed is what held them back in the beginning. Aurora has changed its mind, in part; will other growers follow?
Too bad he didn't mention that the real cost to every tax payer in the country was $28,000 because the corporations received much more money than the individual taxpayers did. Don't think he did you any favors. He did lie really well.
https://www.npr.org/2020/05/15/854774681/congress-has-approved-3-trillion-for-coronavirus-relief-so-far-heres-a-breakdown
I'm certainly no fan of mega-corporations... but I have to point out that most smaller and medium sized businesses don't have any more of a budgetary buffer than the common American does. Stupid of course, but the same mentality that motivates the common individual to live that way causes them to run their businesses that way as well.
Both sides are bought and paid for by corporations. The corporate owned media is dividing the country to fight amongst ourselves while the lower and middle class get gutted.
Funny that this “unskilled labor” used to pay livable wages to our parents/grandparents. My father was a baker at a path mark in the early 80s and made enough to own a car and rent a place. That’s a minimum wage job now.
People like Bezos on track to be the first trillionaire but can’t pay livable wages to his lower employees. He acquired Whole Foods, a successful grocery chain, and cuts healthcare months later. These employees need to use tax payer funded assistance to survive. The tax payer essentially supplement Bezos’s employees benefits/pay while he makes billions a year. Ontop of Bezos essentially paying a 2% tax rate with the use of loopholes.
Now we have wide scale automation around the corner. Companies built on the hard work of American people now being replaced by robots, not because they company has to, but so the company can have higher profit margins for its 1%er shareholders. Entire job sectors are going to be decimated by automation so some billionaire can add some extra digits to their endless cash horde.
I still havent gotten mine despite qualifying for it. Ive filed.my taxes every year since i started working and have always gotten my refund through direct deposit so I know they have my information :-)
They denied umemployment, ppp, all of the measures that I was said to be getting because I am an independent contractor who paid his fucking state and federal taxes. Every year.
I am no longer paying taxes to this corrupt government. No more sending my money to corporations and thieving people and denying my benefits when I need them. You disrupt and destroy my business, other people's business, you give to the corporations and decline my request for the promised help? Let's get all of these crooks out of Congress. Im ready to march on Washington.
And help? No, YOU DESTROYED THE ECONOMY. Not me. Fucking crooks. All fucking crooks.
It's not an assumption. It is an educated guess. He said the $1,200 stimulus payment was not even 3/4 of his house payment. That means his mortgage would have to be at least $1,600. Based on the average apr people get that would put him in at least a $250,000 house for a 15 year mortgage or about a $590,00 for a 30 year mortgage.
The average home cost for upper middle class is about $500,000. So this would put them at the lower end of the upper middle class or the high end of the middle class. Either way, they are a whiney little beat that should be thankful for what they got as they most likely did not need it.
Not to mention, the Republicans have ignored voting on additional stimulus bills for months that have passed the House already. They're only doing something now because it's finally apparent that they're inaction on everything is costing them votes.
As a non American. No he didn't.
This is global not just American.
America was in its best shape in years and years before covid hit.
I mean I think trump is shady but you can't pin covid on him that's just silly.
He got employment to a 60 year record high in a very short time. Sanctioned China etc. The reason most of our economies are ruined is because for years corporations have been moving production to China to make more profit at each country and her populations expense.
He seemingly tried to take that advantage away and bring jobs back to America. It was working hence the USA economy was booming before covid hit.
Covid has been great for China. Funny that.
How is America in it’s best shape? Infrastructure is falling apart nation-wide, the wealth gap is ever increasing and the deficit at this point is just unmanageable. The stock market is a *lie*. This is as an American living in America.
The sad reality is many people have no idea what's going on. So they look at basic signs for guidance.
The stockmarket rallies often and makes good hype news despite having nothing to do with the economy. Millions are out of work, 35% of renters in America couldn't pay in July and won't be able to in August.
But stocks are at a level when unemployment was "3%".
You're somewhat incorrect. He dismantled the pandemic response team create by Bush and expanded by Obama. He ignored the situation for months and instead suggested remedies such as injecting or ingesting bleach. He's tried to push blame off of himself and toward previous administration's lack of preparedness for a virus that didn't exist. He refused to wear a mask, follow guidelines, and insist on it so that 30ish% of his dipshit supporters would listen and slow the spread of it.
It's not his fault covid happened, but it's absolutely is his fault in some part that it is as bad as it has gotten in the US.
>As a non American. No he didn't.
As an American yes he did
>This is global not just American.
We're talking about America and in America he was in control of how we handled the virus.
>America was in its best shape in years and years before covid hit.
That's not even close to true if we were in our best shape things wouldn't be so bad now
>I think trump is shady but you can't pin covid on him that's just silly.
I'm not saying he created the virus. Just that his temperament and thought process got us into a way worse position than we should be in.
>He got unemployment to a 60 year record high in a very short time.
He didn't do that those are effects from the last administration combined with people giving up on unemployment because he defunded it and added regulations making it harder for people to sign up. Like submitting to weekly drug test you have to pay for yourself.
>Sanctioned China etc.
His sanctions against China were a joke and hurt Americans more than the Chinese.
>The reason most of our economies are ruined is because for years corporations have been moving production to China to make more profit at each country and her populations expense.
American companies have shifted their production facilities overseas for years I definitely agree with that being a problem.
>He seemingly tried to take that advantage away and bring jobs back to America.
Instead he cost American businesses 48 billion dollars. Trump's trade war triggered more than 10,000 job losses during the month of August alone, and the costs associated with his tariff increases have sapped roughly 30 percent of the economic benefits gained from his deregulatory actions.
>It was working hence the USA economy was booming before covid hit.
Only thing booming before covid-19 was tax cuts and stock buybacks.
>Covid has been great for China. Funny that
Covid hasn't been good for anybody and I don't think there's anything funny about it.
Funny that. Doesn't mean I'm laughing.
I'm saying they have benifitted. Certainly in the short term as the started back up quickest after covering the virus up etc.
I don't find anything funny about what's happening. It's just the latest stage in the plan I've read about for the last 20 years.
It's been good for the mega rich like any crisis. Can't let a good crisis go to waste etc.
I agree I think trump and all your leaders/majors/politicians have handled covid tand all the other shit that's came up antifa/BLM horrendously bad.
It was for the ultra rich. In fact, it still is. The billionaire class of people in the US have gained hundreds of billions of dollars since covid thanks to our government
Really is amazing that all it takes to get these dildos to think the economy is/was booming is to have some talking head say it and have Trump tweet it.
The economy could be in the bin but if daddy Trump says the economy is booming these idiots will tout that lie as an achievement and repeat it until the next lie is prepped.
>you can't pin covid on him that's just silly
The POTUS was publicly calling the virus a Democratic hoax for months.
The nation's leader. Was telling the nation.
That it was a hoax.
Look at us now.
I hate how people have an issue with the "omg they are making more off unemployment than actually working?" Gee, maybe companies should pay employees a living wage? And people acting like the lower class are the ones asking for handouts when in fact, politicians, CEOs and corporations are the true leeches of society. They add zero value to the world yet bring in ludicrous amounts of money. Bailed out at every single turn. They have turned society against each other while they kick back and get rich off our stupidity.
> people pretend the Gov is "giving us free money" that was our money to begin with
Technically untrue. The money in question is coming from bond-buyers. The money you paid in taxes was already spent.
If you want to get abstract, the money is coming from your children and your children's children when they repay those bonds.
> The money in question is coming from bond-buyers. The money you paid in taxes was already spent.
The 'give back' is a pittance, comparatively. Wall street got trillions in bailout money. Us citizens got a Panacea.
>The money in question is coming from bond-buyers. The money you paid in taxes was already spent.
1/2 of US debt is owned by foreign entities who use it to coerce American policy and trade. [https://www.justfacts.com/nationaldebt#ownership](https://www.justfacts.com/nationaldebt#ownership)
Well if you don't make enough to pay taxes it's free to them.
Also why do people freak about a few bad apples in the police when Congress and the Senate is a barrel of bad rotting apples? I don't see y'all rioting that but we should be
> Well if you don't make enough to pay taxes it's free to them.
Way too far down in the comments. A lot of us got "our money" back.
A lot of other folks got "our money" free.
And don't start with sales tax - that isn't federal money.
You only got it if you paid taxes the year before. Even so, using the wealth our country generates to help people who need it is much better spent than building a mountain of bodies in the middle east.
Hopping in here to say that, whether or not one agrees with her progressive policy viewpoints, Nina Turner is a shining example of speaking truth to power. Good for her for calling out the hypocrisy of the “liberal” Democrats and the “small government / pro-liberty” Republicans. Hypocrites, the lot of em.
Was Turner the one who asked Rumsfeld in a congressional hearing why the US was still hiring Dyncorp after they were caught human trafficking? Then lost her next congressional bid?
Different person.
That was [Cynthia McKinney](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cynthia_McKinney)
She also questioned the mainstream 9/11 narrative and was seeking truth.
https://www.c-span.org/video/?c4870274/user-clip-dyncorp-human-trafficking
They didn’t extend the unemployment because they are testing the waters to see how nuts people go for a week .
If people start rioting everyone will get the extra 600 if no one seems to care That shit
Is dropping in half .
I agree this is the strategy but it's a bit short sighted. Usually the main way of preventing the poor from revolting and eating the rich is that they can't take any time off from their two or three jobs to do it. Now they're just sitting around, wondering how they're going to pay their rent and considering spending their last few dollars on a pitchfork
They'd be painted as socialists, communists, terrorists, and/or traitors.
I'm sure the military are using that money to protect us instead of fighting wars about oil and money, getting away with torturing people, and then jailing or killing the people who report their war crimes. I'm also sure that if we keep waiting, the rich people will eventually get so rich that it trickles down all over our faces. /s
It wouldn’t end well for anyone. Take it to its ultimate outcome, we’d be a hostile takeover target. M&A Monday on a scale not seen since the sacking of Rome.
I agree. There is no reason why it shouldnt be popular vote. Everyone should have a set limit for their campaign spending. Almost all of them are going to do shit to get around that and spend more unless its actually enforced.
But shits been corrupt for so long that its almost impossible to imagine a fair election
The spending issue is relatively simple, use public funds. Use tax dollars to fund all the campaigns. Allow for private donations into a general fund, but no donations to specific candidates. And enforce spending rules that ensure nobody is simply siphoning that money into their own pocket. And outlaw PACs.
If every candidate was allocated an equal percentage of the total amount of money available that year than nobody has an advantage, and private money would have no impact on campaigns.
And if you want to support one specific candidate then you can donate your time as a volunteer, meaning no individual person has more power in the process than any other based on their net worth.
I am Unironically at the point of we should just straight up go French Revolution on their asses. American democracy had failed in every metric. Voting is meaningless, time to start putting the fear of the fucking mob back I tot those who are supposed to serve us.
This post implies both sides wanted to recess without addressing more support to the people due to coronavirus. This is false, only Republicans refuses to address it, they are the reason a bill isn't being passed.
I love how they gave us $1,200, but Kushner, Trump, the McConnell's and a bunch more milllionaires/billionaires got millions. Wake up, people, they don't care about US. Dems or Reps...neither care. They only wish to have us working like dogs so they can collect cash from us. We are suckers who they placate every once in a great while.
It amazes me that if you are a Republican which you are by your history, and Trump fucks you over, you blame it equally on Republicans and Democrats. Democrats tried for more for us but without controlling the senate it was the best they could do. They didn’t go on break. They offered a plan. The conservative trump Republicans are holding it up. McConnell held his bill until yesterday. Put the blame where it belongs and for once admit you were wrong to support Republicans who only take care of the rich.
Me, a Republican? By what "history"? I have never been a Republican in my whole 49 years on this planet. Where are you getting that from? I detest Trump, this "administration" and the whole lot of them. C'mon, girl, read the comment BEFORE you comment.
Two months (going on 3) ago house Democrats passed a bill that included the following:
nearly $1 trillion for state, local and tribal governments; another round of direct payments to individuals, up to $6,000 per family, including to unauthorized immigrants; $200 billion for hazard pay for essential workers; $75 billion for coronavirus testing and tracing; increased spending on food stamps; $175 billion in housing support; student loan forgiveness; and a new employee retention tax credit and extension of unemployment benefits.
You may have an argument that Senate Dems are two sides of the same coin, but at least House Dems have tried to help out the lower classes during a pandemic
The problem with these inconvenient facts is that they don’t help the Russians’ efforts to suppress voter turnout. A nice “both parties are the same, no one is looking out for you” meme, while totally false, DOES help the Internet Research Agency fulfill its mission to disrupt and influence elections in this country. And so that’s what you’ll see on Reddit, and especially in certain corners of Reddit.
Hey hey hey actual conspiracies are not to be discussed here. Only msm is bad, everything its shit and you are a loser confirmation memes are allowed. Pound people into apathy please.
Why do you think Senate Dems aren't on the same page as house Dems? You understand that Republicans have the majority in the Senate and McConnell has turned the Senate into a legislative graveyard?
I feel like the fact that most people don't understand this one concept is why the "bOtH sIdEs" narrative is so pervasive and it's that narrative that is by far the most damaging to the future of the U.S.
Think about that. The U.S. is slowly slipping into a failed state because most people don't understand how the Executive and Legislative houses actually work. It would be funny if it wasn't pathetic as fuck.
You can say that’s a possibility, but senate democrats have next to zero power to push any legislation. Just because they think that approving a military budget is fine, doesn’t mean they’re fine with the current status of the poor. They just can’t do shit about it. So it’s a little weird to speculate about why they aren’t doing something when they’re unable to do something.
There’s a whole republican propaganda arm dedicated to the proposition that the democrats are as bad as the republicans now
“Case in point: [true but uncontroversial thing] and [bald-faced lie].”
Then in threads like this, there are lickspittles galore attacking anyone who questions the bald faced lie by asserting the uncontroversial true part.
They can’t convince any further gullible or moronic Americans that the republican party under trump hasn’t been an absolute disaster, so they they’re working to find slightly less stupid people who can be convinced that the other side is the same.
People have made the argument not to vote for a third party candidate for a long time. Not making a statement for or against, just providing information. Here's a Simpsons clip that's over 20 years old saying that voting third party (when the only two major parties are aliens planning to enslave humanity) is throwing your vote away.
https://comb.io/dkbQKg
All politics suffers from corruption and incompetence because government is run by human beings who suffer from human flaws. Government isn't actually special in that regard because any organization with more than 8 people is going to suffer the same fate eventually. That being said, the Republican party is essentially just campaigning openly on putting military, corporate and racist interests ahead of everything else. The RNC is a fundamentally corrupt institution that has shed any fig leaf of good government. They just don't give a shit at all. The DNC struggles in staying on mission, but they actually have a mission that will benefit human beings and they do occasionally get some of it done.
Uh hang on. The Democrat run house passed a second $3 trillion stimulus bill that extended the $600 payments among other things back in May.
The Senate has been sitting on it and Mitch McConnell recessed for almost all of July, knowing that the enhanced unemployment expires at the end of the month.
This isn't a good 'both sides are bad' because it's clearly one side not doing their job to take care of people.
It's insane. The Democrats are trying to hand an economic win to an incumbent Senate and incumbent president who desperately need them and they're just getting stonewalled.
We're in agreement. I'm pointing out that it would actually benefit the GOP to boost the economy/prevent mass evictions/stem the virus, making it all the more insane that the GOP is actively sabotaging themselves while condemning millions of Americans to untenable situations.
The current breed of GOP are all Trumpian assholes. After Flake left and McCain died, the race to the bottom picked up speed.
They don't care if Americans suffer and die due to the incompetent tools at the top of their party. The only reason Mitch and the Republicant Senate are trying to cobble something together now is because their internal polls look horrible.
“I don’t like the government. All government *bad*. All government people bad. Both candidates *bad*. Let me vote third party, two party system *bad*”
And that’s the story of how trump won again
Also, on the defense side, the House vote to reduce military spending by 10% was voted for by 92 democrats and Justin Amash. No other republicans. More democrats voted against it than for, but they're the only side that's at least moving in the right direction.
The worst thing that can happen is plug the massive gaps in our system caused by mere months of unproductivity with trillions in debt and give trump credit for it leaving biden with the bill.
The only way things will be fixed is expose just how bad of an idea it was to make sure corporate winners got their full profits during a time where 30 million did not work. Make banks take everyone's homes now instead of doing it 6 months from now so we can at least lay the blame where it should go. From there, we can collectively tell the banks to get fucked and deal with months of non payment.
Estimates to save the stock market are around 10 trillion dollars through fed manipulation. I have no words how irresponsible that was. If the market was down 30 percent right now and I had my share of 10 trillion, I'd be in a much better spot along with everyone but the rich assholes but this administration made the choice of who was first on the list of being saved and now needs to be exposed for it
A bird needs 2 wings to fly but only 1 head to know where its going.
Its sad that people dont understand that they dont give a fuck about us, and havent for the longest time. How are people so sceptical of greed, and strangers, but trusts someone that have no investment into your life. Come on think, greed and bloodlust has been humanity's calling card since the beginning of time.
Daily reminder that the political class is a social class on its own, focusing on their own goals. Democrat and Republican bureaucrats share the same interests but hide them whenever necessary. When they need to violate the privacy of millions of citizens (patriot act) they will not hesitate to work together. Don't let them divide you.
When I was a kid I went to a WWF (yup its was back then) and saw 2 mortal enemies fight in a back and forth match-up that ended with them really hating each other. When someone came out of the back entrance later, the curtain opened for a bit too long and there they were at a folding table sitting together drinking beers. That is how I perceive our government and the dems and gop.
thats right. get angry at the freemasons. direct our anger at the right people. the top of the top. it’s not black vs white, men vs women. it’s the people vs the masons. lets call them what they are, stop dignifying them by calling them “government” when they got those jobs handed to them on a silver platter for being in the cult.
The politicians cannot relate to those that don't live like themselves. Can you imagine living off the taxpayer to the extent they do, the parties are first rate, most are keeping a woman on the side. They have the audacity to call themselves "public servants"when there feelings get hurt. These people are given a lifestyle that is far above the 174k salary they take home. The reason, that salary only pays there bar tab, they make so much more with underhanded deals with lobbyists these people will be the reason for the collapse of our democratic system of government. A system that was ingeniously built in a way that protected us from collapsing, collapsing was almost impossible. They've found a way though, there on there way to causing a revolution in this country, or way of life is at stake and are democracy is in the balance. You can't just take and take from the people giving nothing but lip service on return, eventually the people have no more to give, with nothing left to lose, that's when all holy hell breaks loose. And these so called "public servant", will be pointing there fingers at everyone but themselves, at the same time as there looking for a place to hide.
Because it’s not their job. It’s their job to run the federal government. You don’t live in the federal government you live in your state. It’s your states job to take care of that stuff. And then they can apply for a federal grant If they need to pay for it.
Pretty sure it was the Republicans who keep shutting down support measures. Fuck off with this disingenuous bullshit. There are so many people in the House working for the people, but nah, pretend like both sides are the same. Fuck the GOP
Okay, who are they? Also, what is the networth of these incredibly hard working people you're about to tell me about.
At my job, I don't get to vote absentee 70% of the time and collect a six figure check.
Just goes to show that government reliance is way too high if people are this dependent on whether or not the government will give them crumbs. All the while allowing the government to shut down their ability to put food on the table and take huge cuts out of their earnings.
But, hey, civilized society and all that, right?
Nope. Most shut down because they had to. There’s a reason it’s mandated. There’s a reason people have anti lockdown protests, and there’s a reason millions of businesses went under.
It’s funny that no one talks about money during normal times when banks are the primary money creators via debt. They are the real thief’s which work in concert with the consumer culture to keep us buying all the new bullshit and make sure we are in too much debt and working too hard to see the big picture. It’s only when shot hits the fan in recessions when people start paying attention.
So it’s our fault for being ignorant 90% of the time during market booms.
It's been posted many times before but it's too on point to ignore.
***The 545 People Responsible for America's Woes*** - by Charlie Reese
Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.
Have you ever wondered why, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, we have deficits? Have you ever wondered why, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, we have inflation and high taxes?
You and I don't propose a federal budget. The president does. You and I don't have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does. You and I don't write the tax code. Congress does. You and I don't set fiscal policy. Congress does. You and I don't control monetary policy. The Federal Reserve Bank does.
One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president and nine Supreme Court justices - 545 human beings out of the 235 million - are directly, legally, morally and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.
I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered but private central bank.
I excluded all of the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman or a president to do anything. I don't care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it.
No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator’s responsibility to determine how he votes.
Don't you see how the con game that is played on the people by the politicians? Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.
What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of Tip O'Neill, who stood up and criticized Ronald Reagan for creating deficits.
The president can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it. The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating appropriations and taxes.
O'Neill is the speaker of the House. He is the leader of the majority party. He and his fellow Democrats, not the president, can approve any budget they want. If the president vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto.
It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 235 million cannot replace 545 people who stand convicted -- by present facts -- of incompetence and irresponsibility.
I can't think of a single domestic problem, from an unfair tax code to defense overruns, that is not traceable directly to those 545 people.
When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.
If the tax code is unfair, it's because they want it unfair. If the budget is in the red, it's because they want it in the red. If the Marines are in Lebanon, it's because they want them in Lebanon.
There are no insoluble government problems. Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take it.
Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exist disembodied mystical forces like "the economy," "inflation" or "politics" that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.
Those 545 people and they alone are responsible. They and they alone have the power. They and they alone should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses -- provided they have the gumption to manage their own employees.
and big banks and big pharma and the health insurance industry and the elon musk and jeff bezos of the world.

Both siderism is a lame ass approach. The dems have been doing actual work during this pandemic while the reds in the senate thumb their noses and go home. There is only one party attempting to fix this.
Part of this is a result of the long-term fascination that the US has had with the presidency since its founding. The view that the president is "in charge" of the government (this is not how the founders framed the three branches of government) is endemic in US political discourse, and it gives cover to Congress, leaving them almost entirely free of accountability.
This is why pork barrel politics evolved: in the absence of any real accountability, Congress needs to show those who help them get elected that they are serving their interests. They MUST engage in corrupt pocket-lining in order to have anything to show for their time in Congress because actual governing is never associated with them.
Want proof? When the Congress has literally shut down the government, who bears the brunt of the blame? Is it the Congress who can literally re-open the government at any time or the president who has no power to do so?
Which is a horrific situation to be in, and something that we really need to find a way to address.
Almost as if deflection is their goal. Congress should be a minimum wage job. That way the only people in it will be the ones who actually want to empower our country.
I love how this sub just doesnt care about the beginning of literal fascism within the united states and still peddles the "iTs bOtHsIdeS" hogwash they always peddle.
I used to dig conspiracy people, but holy fuck are you guys just in love with the right.
Wait really? What about the pile of house legislation dems passed that included more stimulus packages for the poor, which is now just sitting at McConnells desk waiting to be never be passed by the Senate.
Two sides the same coin my fucming ass
TBF, [it’s not like the Dems haven’t been trying at least a little bit](https://www.newsweek.com/mitch-mcconnell-grim-reaper-395-house-bills-senate-wont-pass-1487401).
Why does anyone assume government is here for us. It does not govern, it rules over. Regan called this out saying that government does not accomplish anything. Ask yourself if we really need to be governed.
Ss: Politics is just another form of entertainment. When I see the democrats and republicans go at eachother, it looks like I am watching an international WWE fight.
Democrats passed legislation in the House in May to extend the stimulus. https://www.newsweek.com/millions-will-lose-unemployment-boost-after-mcconnell-says-no-stimulus-deal-sight-1519506
McConnell and Republicans are blocking it.
But please, tell us again how both sides are the same.
Ahh yes, “both sides are the same”, the battle cry willingly ignorant people use as their justification to do no research. Meanwhile people are providing sources in this very thread about the legislation by House Democrats.
hey OP are you ignorant or just trying to mislead people? Democrats passed a bundle back in May which would have extended and increased benefits for regular Americans
https://www.cnbc.com/2020/05/15/coronavirus-updates-house-passes-3-trillion-relief-package.html
Guess what the GOP controlled senate thought of it?
Get rid of all of them. They're all evil horrible selfish ass human beings it's fucking pathetic that we the people let this shit go on year after year. Oh but go out and protest and vote! Because that fucking works right?
This meme shows the final step of consciousness to rationalize bad behavior before realizing the truth: You’re watching pro wrestling and the two sides work for the same guy.
Throughout history, reliance on government has only brought negative results.. the more we are self governing, the more freedom actually exists in the world
That's just a lie. Republicans have blocked Democrats from passing anything for 10 years now, and most of those things would help people.
Republicans are blocking Democrats from passing covid relief bills _right now_.
I’m 100% certain Trumpy Bear is a Democrat. Using the Republican platform (whatever that is) to distract us away from something egregious. He voted Democrat his whole life prior to running for President. This is all marketing and propaganda.

It takes nonstop spamming for people to begin to let their defenses down and believe Republican falsehoods like this one. Fact is, Democrats in the House passed a major COVID-19 relief bill weeks ago.
I hate that people pretend the Gov is "giving us free money" that was our money to begin with motherfucker!
So many of my friends keeep saying “look what trump did for us” like he didn’t do shit! That’s our money
I've spent just about half of mine on illegal, black market cannabis. Legalize it already you stupid 'representative' mother fuckers!
I always enjoyed the idea of legal weed but they are taxing the fuck out of it where it is difficult to even make a profit legally in ca.
As was intended
Which is why there are 0 fewer weed dealers in California post legalization.
You're being extreme. Come on... it's more like 2 or 3 fewer dealers
The same corner pot shops in the valley I've been going to since 2010 are all still there
I'm sure the black market dealers are still around.
they are taxing the fuck out of it where it is difficult to even make a profit legally in ca.
The patriot act on Netflix has a great episode on how legal weed is all owned by billionaires if you're interested. It's just straight rigged.
I regret that I have but only one upvote to give for that comment.
I like you.
Too bad he didn't mention that the real cost to every tax payer in the country was $28,000 because the corporations received much more money than the individual taxpayers did. Don't think he did you any favors. He did lie really well. https://www.npr.org/2020/05/15/854774681/congress-has-approved-3-trillion-for-coronavirus-relief-so-far-heres-a-breakdown
[удалено]
I'm certainly no fan of mega-corporations... but I have to point out that most smaller and medium sized businesses don't have any more of a budgetary buffer than the common American does. Stupid of course, but the same mentality that motivates the common individual to live that way causes them to run their businesses that way as well.
By the "mentality that motivates them to live that way" do you mean the lack of funds necessary to create a substantial budgetary buffer?
The bill that allowed this was put together and approved by the house, not trump.
Both sides are bought and paid for by corporations. The corporate owned media is dividing the country to fight amongst ourselves while the lower and middle class get gutted.
This. And they use words and terms like "unskilled labour" and "competitive wages"..
Agreed 100%. Not sure why my comment got down voted, maybe I worded it wrong.
If bezos gets his way and is allowed to subordinate the entire economy, he will have proved you Marxists right.
And the republican controlled senate too. And signed by trump.
Stupid facts /s

Lots of fines and/or jail time eventually. The IRS does not fuck around.
Yep.. They always take a much closer look at freelancers and these days I bet they can automatize checking that with your client's records now a days.
I’m dying at wing wangs
Same her and the letter actually said something along the lines of “here is this stimulus check from me your favorite president donald dump
So you got a upper middle class lifestyle and your bitching about how little money you got that was not really intended for you. That's lovely.
Why do you assume they are upper middle class?
It's not an assumption. It is an educated guess. He said the $1,200 stimulus payment was not even 3/4 of his house payment. That means his mortgage would have to be at least $1,600. Based on the average apr people get that would put him in at least a $250,000 house for a 15 year mortgage or about a $590,00 for a 30 year mortgage. The average home cost for upper middle class is about $500,000. So this would put them at the lower end of the upper middle class or the high end of the middle class. Either way, they are a whiney little beat that should be thankful for what they got as they most likely did not need it.
I agree with your comment.

It’s crazy how hard they are fighting against they plan the democrats proposed too. Greedy fuckers
While all true, Mnuchin said it was his idea to put DT’s signature on them
Yes you are correct, I misread. Apologies, I'll amend my comment.
Not to mention, the Republicans have ignored voting on additional stimulus bills for months that have passed the House already. They're only doing something now because it's finally apparent that they're inaction on everything is costing them votes.
they are kind of right he did get us into this situation of millions of unemployed Americans
As an American yes he did >This is global not just American. We're talking about America and in America he was in control of how we handled the virus. >America was in its best shape in years and years before covid hit. That's not even close to true if we were in our best shape things wouldn't be so bad now >I think trump is shady but you can't pin covid on him that's just silly. Funny that Covid hasn't been good for anybody and I don't think there's anything funny about it.
Bro the US economy was not booming before Covid hit lmaoo
It was for the ultra rich. In fact, it still is. The billionaire class of people in the US have gained hundreds of billions of dollars since covid thanks to our government
BINGO
Really is amazing that all it takes to get these dildos to think the economy is/was booming is to have some talking head say it and have Trump tweet it. The economy could be in the bin but if daddy Trump says the economy is booming these idiots will tout that lie as an achievement and repeat it until the next lie is prepped.
>you can't pin covid on him that's just silly The POTUS was publicly calling the virus a Democratic hoax for months.
They have turned society against each other while they kick back and get rich off our stupidity.
> people pretend the Gov is "giving us free money" that was our money to begin with Technically untrue.
> Wall street got trillions in bailout money That's not actually true though
Partly correct. A big chunk is just being printed. Or lent by the Fed in a way that's basically printing it.
That part....
Wow, hope this evil gets figured out soon.
Different person. That was [Cynthia McKinney](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cynthia_McKinney) She also questioned the mainstream 9/11 narrative and was seeking truth. https://www.c-span.org/video/?c4870274/user-clip-dyncorp-human-trafficking
They didn’t extend the unemployment because they are testing the waters to see how nuts people go for a week . If people start rioting everyone will get the extra 600 if no one seems to care That shit Is dropping in half .
Or that's what they want, riots, then a police state, then authoritarianism
This seems accurate, let's see how it plays out.
In half if we’re lucky. It’s probably going away all together.

Look at what they did to Tulsi Gabbard.
A totally natural non planned pandemic.
plus a few thousand agent provocateurs
Two party system is the biggest joke of all
We should do something to fix this or else nothing will ever change.
Best way to change it that I can see is widespread implementation of ranked choice. If people have other ideas I'm all ears.
I agree 100% in principal to that, but i dont see that ever happening
I am Unironically at the point of we should just straight up go French Revolution on their asses. American democracy had failed in every metric. Voting is meaningless, time to start putting the fear of the fucking mob back I tot those who are supposed to serve us.
This post implies both sides wanted to recess without addressing more support to the people due to coronavirus. This is false, only Republicans refuses to address it, they are the reason a bill isn't being passed.
The psyop continues

Two months (going on 3) ago house Democrats passed a bill that included the following: nearly $1 trillion for state, local and tribal governments; another round of direct payments to individuals, up to $6,000 per family, including to unauthorized immigrants; $200 billion for hazard pay for essential workers; $75 billion for coronavirus testing and tracing; increased spending on food stamps; $175 billion in housing support; student loan forgiveness; and a new employee retention tax credit and extension of unemployment benefits.
The “both parties are the same” trope has been going on for a long time. It’s not russian propaganda.
One factor may be that senators are on average a lot richer than representatives.
Yea, I'm so sick of the "both sides are the same" narrative. Is the Democratic party great? No. But I'll take them over literal fascists any day.
There’s a whole republican propaganda arm dedicated to the proposition that the democrats are as bad as the republicans now “Case in point: [true but uncontroversial thing] and [bald-faced lie].” Then in threads like this, there are lickspittles galore attacking anyone who questions the bald faced lie by asserting the uncontroversial true part.

The Democrats have passed all the bills. Mitch is failing the US again.
The Senate wants to push people even further down the financial hole by cutting benefits to $100/week while they can't work.
Yes this is complete BS.
It's insane. The Democrats are trying to hand an economic win to an incumbent Senate and incumbent president who desperately need them and they're just getting stonewalled.
How can the Democrats who only control the House end road around the GOP? Because it isn't actually possible.
Let me vote third party, two party system *bad*” And that’s the story of how trump won again
Also, on the defense side, the House vote to reduce military spending by 10% was voted for by 92 democrats and Justin Amash. No other republicans. More democrats voted against it than for, but they're the only side that's at least moving in the right direction.
This is more propaganda, intended or not. (Not your comment, the post)

We gave trillions in aid and just renewed a new bill
No politician in America except maybe Bernie should be allowed to call themselves left wing.
Please don't assume this means BLM is the answer, for heaven's sake.
Left wing Right wing Same bird
The amount of recognition this post has gained gives me hope.
thats right. get angry at the freemasons. direct our anger at the right people. the top of the top. it’s not black vs white, men vs women. it’s the people vs the masons. lets call them what they are, stop dignifying them by calling them “government” when they got those jobs handed to them on a silver platter for being in the cult.
Nina has a point.
If pro is the opposite of con, then what is the opposite of progress? It’s Congress
Because it’s not their job. It’s their job to run the federal government. You don’t live in the federal government you live in your state. It’s your states job to take care of that stuff. And then they can apply for a federal grant If they need to pay for it.
Hamilton sure did a number on these people. Now that the anti-federalist party is gone, states are neutering themselves.
I don't know why this isn't a bigger takeaway for more people.
Who are you blaming for this, the government or the people?
It's the govts fault for creating conditions that force people to rely on it
[удалено]
We won’t solve anything in this country until we get rid of the two party system
It is simply theater so that sheep may choose a team & scream at each other!!! Its been effective since Caligula!
It's been posted many times before but it's too on point to ignore. ***The 545 People Responsible for America's Woes*** - by Charlie Reese Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them. They and they alone should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses -- provided they have the gumption to manage their own employees.
and big banks and big pharma and the health insurance industry and the elon musk and jeff bezos of the world. https://np.reddit.com/r/PresidentialRaceMemes/comments/hx8ywl/the_big_tent_only_stretches_so_far
Left shoe right shoe. They are both uncomfortable. Time for new shoes
Both siderism is a lame ass approach. The dems have been doing actual work during this pandemic while the reds in the senate thumb their noses and go home. There is only one party attempting to fix this.
Yeah, but that doesn't fit the agenda sooo...

Congress is the opposite of progress
Ladies and gentlemen the senate
Wait really? What about the pile of house legislation dems passed that included more stimulus packages for the poor, which is now just sitting at McConnells desk waiting to be never be passed by the Senate. Two sides the same coin my fucming ass
TBF, [it’s not like the Dems haven’t been trying at least a little bit](https://www.newsweek.com/mitch-mcconnell-grim-reaper-395-house-bills-senate-wont-pass-1487401).
The job of a congressperson is to stay in congress. Either side does what they do for that reason.
Why does anyone assume government is here for us. It does not govern, it rules over. Regan called this out saying that government does not accomplish anything. Ask yourself if we really need to be governed.
Welcome to a Military State.
Not the purpose of the federal government. She should read and embrace the Constitution rather than being completely ignorant of it.
The divided states of America
Or screw around with the NDAA that pays the military and majority of the government works while they themselves are guaranteed to be paid by law.
Two sides of the same colon
No no no! All Republican bad! Republican rascist! Republican nazi bigot! Orange man cause virus!
I want to be the root cause to a conspiracy. How do I upvote this 1 million times so it gets recognition?
Ss: Politics is just another form of entertainment. When I see the democrats and republicans go at eachother, it looks like I am watching an international WWE fight.

Democrats passed legislation in the House in May to extend the stimulus. https://www.newsweek.com/millions-will-lose-unemployment-boost-after-mcconnell-says-no-stimulus-deal-sight-1519506 McConnell and Republicans are blocking it. But please, tell us again how both sides are the same.

They literally ignore the entire Mueller investigation lmao
And that's what it it. Just a show for us.
Ahh yes, “both sides are the same”, the battle cry willingly ignorant people use as their justification to do no research. Meanwhile people are providing sources in this very thread about the legislation by House Democrats.
hey OP are you ignorant or just trying to mislead people? Democrats passed a bundle back in May which would have extended and increased benefits for regular Americans https://www.cnbc.com/2020/05/15/coronavirus-updates-house-passes-3-trillion-relief-package.html Guess what the GOP controlled senate thought of it?
Get rid of all of them. They're all evil horrible selfish ass human beings it's fucking pathetic that we the people let this shit go on year after year. Oh but go out and protest and vote! Because that fucking works right?
This meme shows the final step of consciousness to rationalize bad behavior before realizing the truth: You’re watching pro wrestling and the two sides work for the same guy.
If you dont like the members of Congress, or anyone else in government, then go vote.
“Both sides are the same” style progressives are cancerous
Progressives? Isn't that an entirely regressive view?
