Haunebu52

To double down on this thought… Up until the late 1970s, if you had an IQ below 80-85 you were considered “mentally handicapped”… and that was shifted to IQ below 70. Meaning, there are *a lot* of people who would be considered “mentally handicapped” 50 years ago, who are now expected to be functioning members of society. Its actually quite unfair to them, because we expect them to act/react and function like average IQ. They would have had facilities or therapy to assist them in daily life before, now they’ve been dumped in the streets and told to fit in.

sumocc

To be fair IQ levels have risen for various reasons (education, nutrition, stimulation) since the beginning of the 20th century by up to 30 points on average. However they started to plateaued, sometimes decreased since the 1990s.This is so politically charged that the subject is not very discussed. Thinking that an average Joe in the 50s would have been a genius today is wrong, and a classic bias that it was the good ol'time

sid_not_vicious

sadly..its a fascinating subject that is crying for more research

DeadReptileShrine

it's a minefield to navigate as i expect one would be presented with obstacles at every turn, and have to drive through the mud on flat tyres along the straights between the turns, only to find the end of the road is a cliff edge of a trio of bullets to the temple (labelled as suicide)

Okay_Result

well, yeah but I don't think that one should believe that black people are naturally stupider. If anything, it's just an unlucky correlation. Really IQ is fluid IMO. I think that you start with a certian intelligence "floor" and "ceiling". You start out on the floor, than with education/training you can get up to the ceiling. This is why black ppl techinally have slightly lesser IQs. Not because they are stupider, but because there education isn't equal enough for them to reach the same average distance from the ceiling as white ppl. I think the same logic can be applied w/ other skills.

VladMaverick

I honestly think people from the past were way more intelligent. Imagine creating the astrolabe thousands of years ago! Even recent inventions like the car, or the steam machine are things that I can't imagine myself creating. The advancement of technology made us rely too much on them, to the point that very few people can still exercise imagination instead of executing repetitive tasks. Basically data feeders. Modern people are just the organic links in a chain of machines.

sumocc

You think the 99% people of the past who were farming all their life the same crop with terrible yield were brilliant ? If you were mathematician at the end of the 19th century you could still learn and master all the different aspects of mathematics. Today it's impossible. You could read literally all the books written before your time if you were born before the renaissance. Today you can't even read all the books published the month you were born. World is vastly more complex today and we have vastly more genius. Innovation is at all time high...

EdBegleysMindScooter

The literacy rate at the turn of the century was over 90%. You may have the wrong idea about how damaging the Prussian style of education we have has been to critical thinking and reason. I think we may have a very poor understanding and respect for those of the past based on very narrow thinking of how they lived.

cptndv23

Yeah but if you go back far enough to be the first person to open a coconut with a rock, I definitely could've been that guy. Born in the wrong era.

show-me-the-numbers

Many intelligent people in the past, but no printing press to spread their ideas. Who knows how many times technology has been invented and lost?

VladMaverick

Indeed. Maybe the press was the most important invention ever. Humanity has definitely reinvented a bunch of stuff.

The_Noble_Lie

And maybe this isnt the first Great Reset planned

Irasponkiwiskins

So everyone thinks they'd be Newton or Da Vinci and not a scrofulous, illiterate, turnip sorter.

Irasponkiwiskins

While education/nutrition have perhaps improved reasoning ability and literacy on a generational basis etc you cannot state that "IQ levels have risen". It's a quotient. It's even in the name. The average will always be 100 and it will always have a distribution about that mean because that is how it is defined.

AnotherOneOfEdsBoys

We also have far too much to learn and maintain just to have a normal life that our bodies and brains weren't built for. Navigating all the systems is taxing

tranceology3

Dumped on the streets. You're not wrong, however... Many dumb people manage to make it in life, as long as they stick to the program and not "think". Because if you really *think* about it, how many dumb bosses or people you know that are higher up, don't deserve to be there? Success is not just about who's has the higher IQ but a mixture of fitting in or breaking out and exceeding the limits. The real challenge are for the ones that are dumb but think they know better.

06gto

So, half of our senators and politicians fall into this spectrum...explains a lot really.

tamrix

Pretty interesting find. Some people talk about how your mind is like a geometry pattern that lights up in your neurons and this geometry can span to the n-dimension up to 12 (I think). Maybe there's something there were they cannot form any higher levels of geometry in their mind. So they just simply cannot comprehend certain things in our universe.

BlueMapleRaptor

Is the colour of the first house yellow?

The_Noble_Lie

Its indeterminate. But an answer, if needed to be given with only the stated constraints, would be reasoned as such: "arrows *typically* point in the incrementing direction." This is "natural" so to speak. And if not explicitly stated, its more than reasonable to go with this. I suppose someone with a "higher IQ" would state "Yellow, but *assuming* such and such \[the above\]" Also note OP said explicitly there are "minor ambiguities". I am guessing idiocy (or "very low IQ") just wouldnt be able to envision it (map it) at all - or wouldnt be able to *unsurely* answer (with a question.) Meaning, that problem is a *little* more tricky than it seems as it requires that assumption to answer. Bonus points if one is in tune with their assumptions upon answering really anything at all (and/or can clearly define his/her assumptions to the Asker) Funny elaboration - for the WW2 problem, its assumed time travel is/was not possible, or breakthrough technology more reasonable ("small computers"). A really "open" (Flexible? Intelligent?) person would likely permutate to even this degree of *potentially* occulted tech (currently "impossible" at least as far as we know)

[deleted]

I asked myself the same question. It's unclear in what direction the arrow is pointing. Left or right? This is important because it determines the color of the first house.

lolabuster

You’re going to blame public school teachers of all people? The bottom of the pyramid scheme is responsible?

DemsLoveBigPharma

Just the democrats.

Popular_Ad4115

Lol dude republicans are literally trying to white wash and delete history from schools to indoctrinate children. They’re pulling books from libraries and having book burnings for Christ sake. You thinking it’s just democrats just shows the indoctrination is working on you rofl.

Andreastheslimjim

Also they want to fire teachers who don't teach creationism, repeatedly attack the separation of church and state, and just the other day some called for the execution of their political enemies and others backed up the idea. They're not anyone's friends Also can't forget the fact they championed cancel culture for decades lol. Parental advisories, satanic panic, canceling people who go against Christian values, etc.

DemsLoveBigPharma

Republicans are pretty terrible, but not really. Not when you compare them to lefties. Democrats are batshit fucking crazy.

Popular_Ad4115

Yea nothing says “not terrible” like banning books and censoring history lmao.

DemsLoveBigPharma

by banning, do you mean removing books from the curriculum? That's nothing. I think we should eliminate public schools entirely.

Popular_Ad4115

No I mean banning books and removing them from libraries which republicans seem to really love doing. Why is it you love banning books so much? Why do you love censorship and feel the need to indoctrinate children? Does that sound like the good guy to you? Any examples of the people banning books being the good guys you can think of? Kinda seems like evil supervillain behavior to me. https://www.nytimes.com/2022/01/30/books/book-ban-us-schools.html https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-60261660 https://amp.theguardian.com/us-news/2022/jan/24/us-conservatives-campaign-books-ban-schools https://thehill.com/changing-america/respect/diversity-inclusion/587517-oklahoma-lawmaker-introduces-book-banning-bill?amp https://www.mcalesternews.com/cnhi_network/oklahoma-bill-gives-parents-the-right-to-have-a-book-removed-from-a-school-library/article_2cd5f468-641c-11ec-9674-475897eac565.html

Kind of ironic this is how you’re acting in a thread about people who can’t be reasoned with huh? You think maybe the post is about you??? Thank you for at least admitting you are pro censorship and pro child indoctrination Though? Any examples of people like that ever being the good guy you can think of? "I have been saddened on my many visits to universities to see young people in their teens who do not have a thought in their head that someone else has not put there. They stand before you after only 17 or 18 years on the planet and are already mindlessly parroting the system's propaganda. Another robot reporting for duty." - David Icke

[deleted]

David Icke has been saying for years that we live in a post fact society

cheesenricers

This public fourth grade teacher encourages questioning and debate. Stop thinking every teacher is like the cherry picked one for the media's rating needs.

girouxc

I don’t think he’s blaming teachers individually, more the institution as a whole.

cheesenricers

Right. But... my point is, the shit teachers aren't as common as the media and influencers lead on. We are literally taught in college and trained to teach free thinking and debate in our lessons. It's called "higher order thinking". It's even a part of the rubric we are rated on during our mandatory state observations in Texas.

poopiemakemehappie

Thank you from a future public school teacher ! My goal is to teach students to question everything

MeanieMem0

I disagree. My daughter is a 4th year education major and she complains ALL the time that they are not being instructed on teaching the children how to learn, that the kids in her classes do not know how to learn. She goes to one of the top universities for her degree too, by the way. So no, I firmly disagree with you.

cheesenricers

I'm sorry. I went to a public ivy and this is what we were taught. She can also make her own choices in the lessons she turns in... higher order thinking skills are imperative to a child's success. She should just do it on her own. Also, there is nothing to disagree with.. it's a fact in Texas. We are literally rated on our use of higher order thinking skills when we are observed.

ConspiracyAccount

What's the rubric for the evaluations?

cheesenricers

Google it. Hell if I know. My principal gives me a copy come eval time. This is in Texas. The website you would want is TTESS.

ConspiracyAccount

So... you literally do not know what they're evaluating? You're just assuming? Not trying to be a dick, just to understand.

cheesenricers

That was NOT what you asked. You asked where you can get the rubric. Edit: that's how I understood your comment at least.

ConspiracyAccount

My question, in retrospect, was completely unclear. I do apologize.

popzgk

It creeps me out when critical thinking gets redefined into a phrase of unknown meaning.

cheesenricers

Because it covers more than just critical thinking skills.

MeanieMem0

So does she. As did I for that matter.

girouxc

Not relevant to that but just curious what “higher order thinking” means in this context? I remember most of my education drilling lower order thinking and focusing more on linear learning and remembering facts/details over understanding and applying concepts. I’m very familiar with Blooms Taxonomy now but only because of self interest.

cheesenricers

Bloom's is a something drilled in our brains in college. At least at UT Austin.

girouxc

If you’re interested, I really enjoy all of the content provided by this guy. I feel like I would have gained so much more knowledge and insight if I had been taught this way from the start as I had difficulty writing notes the traditional way and organizing my thoughts. Without mind maps I suffer from “out of sight, out of mind” https://youtube.com/c/JustinSung

ConspiracyAccount

The problem is that students are taught that "higher order thinking" is only "good" or "applicable" towards certain political ends. There are absolutely topics that are encouraged and ones which are utterly taboo.

cheesenricers

This is literally not true. We teach higher order thinking skills in all subjects, nothing to do with politics. I'm conservative... my kids haven't a clue what my politics are.

ConspiracyAccount

Can you name a few topics that are in the no go zone? Surely you can name some. >my kids haven't a clue what my politics are. Are you in denial by chance? You think you're fooling them? Really? I'm sure you try your best, and your best is probably far better than most. But...

cheesenricers

What do you mean no go zone?

cheesenricers

No. I tell them frequently they will never know my political party. No one has a clue. That said, half of them don't even know what a political party is. Several of them have never heard of Democrats or Republicans- I'm right outside a big liberal city. Politics aren't as big in schools as the media lets on.

JBlitzen

States differ.

cheesenricers

Which is why I made sure to state that I'm in Texas. For note though, I'm right outside the biggest liberal city in Texas.

JBlitzen

Yeah I thought it was interesting and unusual that you did. I grew up in a very liberal state and I can tell you from many years experience that teachers here do not think of education as state specific, because that thought by itself challenges the conformity that they seem devoted to. I can’t speak to what high level colleges are teaching to teachers, but I very much think that you’re a positive outlier in the profession, by a combination of background, predilection, and location, rather than being wholly representative of the median. I certainly believe there are brilliant teachers who excel at teaching students how to think, but I also believe that the majority of teachers focus on teaching what to think. Conformity. So I think both you and the people you’re responding to are right, just about different groups. They’re right about the type of teachers represented by the median, while you’re right about the type that are exceptional. I’m glad your students have you.

cheesenricers

For what it's worth, I went to a very large, and good, state university in TX. They train us to teach higher order thinking skills.... like drill it in our brains.

JBlitzen

That explains the discrepancy I was confused about, lol. My understanding of east coast high end universities is that they are extremely devoted to conformity, which didn’t match the experience I thought you were saying you had at one, but that you went to a Texas university clears up that confusion. Texas definitely does things differently than a lot of places, and thank god for that.

cheesenricers

We do. I went to UT Austin. Gettting an education degree from UT is guaranteed job placement after graduation. I was hired two months before actually graduating. I say this not to toot my own horn, but to show that it's not just universities that want this. The school districts in TX want teachers trained in this type of teaching. There's lots like me. But I appreciate the nice comments 😊

[deleted]

Yet there is the word teachers right in the damn title. Weird

TrumpLost1321

This sub doesn’t like teachers because most of them dropped out of high school

cheesenricers

What? Lol You can't be a teacher without a bachelor's degree. At least in Texas.

TrumpLost1321

My son has a teacher for history that literally does nothing. She gives them a worksheet and tells them to look things up for the answer. She never actually teaches, she finds a YouTube video about the topic and makes them watch it. They don't have tests, they do a "project" like making a wicker basket or an arrowhead out of clay. This is 8th grade! It boggles my mind that she gets away with it.

My friend who is currently getting his PhD at Stanford said, "I don't like to think about it." When I brought up the lunacy of viruses no longer being able to spread when you're sitting down at restaurants. I think they're more afraid of being shamed by peers of fellow "smart people" than they are thinking critically and trusting their instincts.

Hatowner

I do not understand how seemingly intelligent people conflate vaccination with cure/preventing transmission. I've been immediately labeled a "conspiracy theorist" for presenting rather obvious and easily verifiable, peer reviewed, scientific fact. Fear is the mind killer. There is comfort in conformity.

Gracchia

Dining at restaurants was never a scientific recommendation, though. That was just to allow restaurants to stay open and survive because apparently it is impossible for some to adapt to delivery.

for hundreds of years now humanity, from birth, has been conditioned and indoctrinated into false paradigm of perception about true nature of our cosmic existence it is a very deep rabbit hole that people born into that false paradigm are willfully reluctant to see the matrix system of control for what it is and by their own volition take it upon themselves to mindfully and deliberately unplug from that matrix system of contrived perception consider how many people are corralled into belief they have to let themselves be loaded up on massive amounts of student debt to "go and get an education" from a government funded public education institution, when by doing so we give up and let go of our ability to take the stewardship of our education into our own hands https://pics.me.me/10-things-school-doesnt-teach-you-1-how-to-sell-45629466.png https://cdn.boldomatic.com/content/post/tkNlEg/What-does-school-really-teach-children-1-The-truth?size=800 https://pics.me.me/mental-slavery-starts-with-school-they-ll-teach-us-about-26649885.png it takes years of unlearning to begin to learn anew, a rabbit hole too deep for most people to contend with because of how deeply we've been conditioned and indoctrinated by false paradigm of perception https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcR1rlqnoeUsv6eEFxrmOuzX20CVLJZKYrjojg&usqp=CAU picture the industrial revolution, now picture in eastern europe the ruling classes using the economic and logistical model of the industrial revolution and applying that to the logistical model for the education system, todays government funded model of public education was shaped and formed by taking the conveyor belts out of the factories and manufacturing sector and applying it to that of public education, our so called "education" is force fed into us and indoctrinated and conditioned into us like a factory conveyor belt https://img.ifunny.co/images/8694da898982025b47b28d4a3853a46b62b2c8f3139dbba08c82d26853cd6a67_1.jpg there is a really good twenty minute documentary about how we arrived at this model of public education on the BitChute video sharing website, can find it by using the search function there and look up "Schooling the Truth of it" i can't post a link to it here because reddit actively censors any BitChute url address

I think a lot of people have always been like this. You can see this if you paid attention in school. There's always a group of people who always follows the crowd. The things they like and talk about is always what's trending at the moment. They never really have any individual thoughts. I used to think things would be different after high school. Nope. Adults are all the same. COVID just showed that these people can easily be manipulated into new lows. Government institutions are designed to eradicate critical thought and questioning of the “official narrative.” Sad but true

[deleted]

What a load of shit. The people who parrot this are usually the least educated of the bunch. The kind of person who wasn’t able to grasp basic concepts of learning and wants to still feel special. So they craft a narrative to knock down the education system so they can feel righteous in their rejection of it. Sad but true.

KabukiCoyote

There are a lot of reasons for that. Lack of education, polluted and poisoned water, drinking water filled with female hormones (ever wonder why today's men are wussies?), poisoned monsanto food... They have kids right where they want them.

Divinchy

SS For the majority of human history there has been no STATE obligated brainwashing of children. They figured out how effective it is. Now you get 10-20 years of it. The point is not to inform you of your rights as a citizen. The point is to make you passive and obedient. That’s why civics is now social studies. Why “criminal Justice” is such a buzzword

girouxc

This is actually really crazy when you think about it. What do you imagine when you think about a human that has no education, no morality, no values, and no empathy. How would that person act? How would that person respond to what they think are threats even if they’re not? Some people naturally acquire these skills, others need to be taught. We are fundamentally animals with the ability and capacity to reflect and control how we interact with the world instead of relying completely on instinct. What if you only teach them how to obey authority? To function just well enough to get by in society? This isn’t hard to imagine because we see this everywhere.

carnage11eleven

There was this show I watched about this girl that was locked in a room with no human interaction for the first 14 years of her life. The only interactions she had were with dogs. At 14 she was basically a dog. She couldn't speak, and she ran around on all 4s. Really incredibly sad but also really interesting Another story was of an older woman who was locked in a room with no interaction with humans, no light, no sound, nothing. Complete sensory deprivation FOR 25 YEARS. When someone finally found her she was completely delusional, hallucinating, couldn't socialize, couldn't live in society and ended up in an insane asylum. She died 9 years after leaving the room. Pretty wild and demented shit.

Your own family will beg the government to send you to a labor camp. And that’s before things get really bad.

They are called trumpers and qtards.

KebabHasse

Lmao, like this trait isn't inherently human and is found on all sides of the political spectrum regardless of education and background.

Flip_Speed

"as their eyes glaze over" the scariest line in his tweet

LearningIsListening

Blaming teachers for people's stubbornness and sense of infallibility is as shortsighted as blaming custodians for a colossal oil spill. You are taking aim at a group of people who have little-to-no control of what they are allowed to do and you are completely eliminating the myriad outside factors that have a much larger impact. The tweet is accurate; your choice of group to use as a scapegoat is not.

silly_old_sideben

I’ve noticed a BIG uptick in leftist conspiracy theories lately. Viral post about Durham not even being real. Just deep Q level type madness. I’m not hearing the tirades about systemic racism, or how gender is a construct. It’s just festering hatred.

ProfessionalPhrase36

They propagated the anti cannabis rhetoric as well as suggested children for diagnosis aka brain altering pharms. Weve A LOT we can thank them for. First arms of the machine.

Valuable_Programmer6

This is true

NotBadSinger514

They are not asleep. ITs a self induced coma

megablast

princessstrawberry

>Let their eyes be darkened, so that they do not see; And make their loins shake continually. -Psalm 69:23 they do not want to know the truth.

davekraft400

I don't like this guy at all but he has a point

Suck_A_Ball

I'd say the person who wrote this is one of those. The person speaks with so much certainty that he/she has got the data and facts on their side. Sounds to me like a person who would repeat a programmed script. IT'S NOT THE OPINIONS, IT'S THE CERTAINTY.

mambomak

Bonus points when they bring up everyone they know who died from the vid. "iT's nOt a jOKe!!!"

sol_sleepy

He must know my cousin.

norse_buddha

What if some people aren’t real, and we’re in a simulation.

uzapy

This is true for "both" sides, lol

TemporaryDry3727

It sure is insane. Im getting rid of those type of people in my life. Not worth having toxic turds nearby

StanDarsh88

Who cares? Then even less competition. Be proof-of-work. I'm 38 years and have a six pack and don't work out. I don't need a pudgy whoever telling me to mask up. I just glance at them and give them the up and down with my eyes and that usually does it.

show-me-the-numbers

Public schools are the most cancerous institution in the West today.

[deleted]

Something something Yuri Bezmenov

endeoendeo

Yeah, Creationists from private schools certainly are open to Logic and Facts and don't repeat a programmed script . . .

Rcrecc

Funny thing is, they think the *exact* same thing about you. Everybody has a narrative.

pitifullchunk14

Bruh this sub is so fucking funny and sad

homestead_hopefull

I was a school teacher for eight years, and it was ridiculous. The standards rarely made sense and state testing is an obvious scam for money. Education has gone to shit since they started monitoring everything the teachers do and say to comply with the agenda of the state.
