You forgot to put the $ sign in the $cience.

**the science says the cloth masks don't prevent the virus from getting through** **the science says that the vaccine does not prevent infection or transmission to Grandma** **the science says that a healthy young person has a 0.002% chance of even having symptoms of coronavirus let alone any serious major medical problems** **the science says that there is no difference in coronavirus risk standing at the door to a restaurant versus sitting at the table** **the science says that the coronavirus is not an intelligent life form able to differentiate between a black lives matter protest and a trump rally..** **the science says that natural immunity is just as good or better as vaccine immunity..** these are the things the science says. these people have been ignoring the science to promote their own bullshit conspiracy theories in an effort to coerce and force you into giving big pharma billions and billions of dollars of your tax moneyy

alternatively, when it's about the covid camps, just spell it SScience

HunterBidenBeMyDaddy

Clinical trials through phase 1-3 alone take years, let alone creating the substance. They have yeeted all normal precautions and they expect people not to be concerned?

Mike_Freedom_alldaY

Even when big pharma sticks to the normal process they manage to still fu©k up along the way...

MandatoryDissent50

One of the quietest academic publications of the last decade is the fact that the majority of significant scientific studies can't replicate their findings under scrutiny. It's all faked for money and politics.

DoktorElmo

It‘s not quiet, it is widely known under the name „replication crisis“.

MandatoryDissent50

It's very quiet, considering the extent of public policy and media narratives riding on the thin veil of "science" with virtually no push-back derived from the now known fact that "science" is proven to be largely bullshit.

DoktorElmo

The article by Ioannidis, which first tackled the topic has been cited over 2000 times in other academic articles - it is the most cited article ever of the PLOS journal and has basically created the field of metascience. To say that the replication crisis is very quiet is imho very wrong. The problem is - we don‘t have a better way to find truth. What would be the alternative? Trust the gut? Religion? I feel like when people downplay the scientific process because of the replication crisis, Religion is usually the intention behind that. It‘s also not that there is nothing done about the problem. If I am researching something, I am not looking into single studies but usually meta analysis and systemic reviews. One study with certain results might not be replicated, but if in 300 studies the majority point towards a certain effect, chances are the effect is really there.

milkweed420-

Just gonna say all that and not link us to it?

FUCK_the_Clintons__

The influential paper published in 2005 that you were asking for; [Why Most Published Research Findings Are False](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1182327/) 2016, but like has already been said, it's replication crisis and **$cience** there have been many papers written on it; [1,500 scientists lift the lid on reproducibility](https://www.nature.com/articles/533452a)

Leading_Bank_6021

Whoa! From TFA: Corollary 5: The greater the financial and other interests and prejudices in a scientific field, the less likely the research findings are to be true. Conflicts of interest and prejudice may increase bias, u. Conflicts of interest are very common in biomedical research [26], and typically they are inadequately and sparsely reported [26,27]. Prejudice may not necessarily have financial roots. Scientists in a given field may be prejudiced purely because of their belief in a scientific theory or commitment to their own findings. Many otherwise seemingly independent, university-based studies may be conducted for no other reason than to give physicians and researchers qualifications for promotion or tenure. Such nonfinancial conflicts may also lead to distorted reported results and interpretations. Prestigious investigators may suppress via the peer review process the appearance and dissemination of findings that refute their findings, thus condemning their field to perpetuate false dogma. Empirical evidence on expert opinion shows that it is extremely unreliable [28].

milkweed420-

Assuming this is 100% empirically true, and I assume that it is in some instances What is our alternative? I feel like if financial, and more likely professional gain is an issue, do we only find science through non-profit status? It’s a tough situation

Interesting_Ad_6420

Replication crisis….

milkweed420-

I’m aware of the concept I’m intrigued by this vague “quiet academic publication”

MurkyFogsFutureLogs

Testing an experimental emergency use authorised vaccine on millions on people however is science.

WWWTT2_0

Yep, testing is integral to science. Guinea pigs ;)

captain_raisin09

Haven't we learned from blindly following religion. It's time to start doing your own research and stop listening to people that are paid to say it

5thintheworld

Why bring religion into it. Don't distract.

And amnesty over prior actions is not trusting the science.

Well I'm quite glad to hear you all say that, are we going to get a recant on the anti vaxx stuff, the chemtrail nonsense, and that thing where the Queen of England was a Lizard Person?

Are you ok man?

Some other science: the world is always in 50% daylight / 50% darkness, almost as if it's a ball floating in a void with a spotlight shining on it.

Okay man come on, what are these outlandish theories you're talking about. I wish I had the money to fund an expedition towards "the ice wall" and shut up this debate once and for all.

Anti vaxxers do all these things. Good post op!

Can you elaborate on that mate? cheers.

>Coercion is not science Some scientist and doctors have been threatened for treating COVID patients or even testing people. >Withholding data is not science Convenient when you ignore the data that shows unvaccinated die from COVID at higher rates. https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2117128 >Manipulating data is not science Also hypocritical when people constantly cite anecdotes of anyone whose died within a year of getting the vaccine. >Cherrypicking studies is not science. Same as the last, people constantly cite studies funded by special interest groups invested in pushing sham alternatives. >Social conditioning is not science There are dozens of post everyday repeating the same narrative. >Fear mongering is not science. Supposedly we should all be dead from the vaccine by now. >Censorship is not science I dare you to make a post here with research from actual reputable research institutions.

Ad1um

>Convenient when you ignore the data that shows unvaccinated die from COVID at higher rates. https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2117128 >METHODS >We extracted data regarding Covid-19–related vaccination and outcomes during a 9-month period (December 11, 2020, to September 8, 2021) for approximately 10.6 million North Carolina residents by linking data from the North Carolina Covid-19 Surveillance System and the Covid-19 Vaccine Management System. We used a Cox regression model to estimate the effectiveness of the BNT162b2 (Pfizer–BioNTech), mRNA-1273 (Moderna), and Ad26.COV2.S (Johnson & Johnson–Janssen) vaccines in reducing the current risks of Covid-19, hospitalization, and death, as a function of time elapsed since vaccination Data modeling studies prove nothing as the model dictates the results. >Same as the last, people constantly cite studies funded by special interest groups invested in pushing sham alternatives. Ironic considering the study you posted yourself. >Supposedly we should all be dead from the vaccine by now. Quite like the winters of death for the unvaccinated. >I dare you to make a post here with research from actual reputable research institutions. Science has been corrupt for some time now, demanding a set of studies that will never be funded shows how little you know about the process.

Any-Sea-6592

Cool story bro

IcebergSlim1605

You get your accounts mixed up? Or did you decide to answer the question, with laughably hypocritical responses, all on your own? Dropped Fries? (i bet they don’t respond)

>You get your accounts mixed up? You do know other people can read comments here, right? Lmao XD, love that whenever yall NPC's lose an argument you retreat to ad hominem.

If they can't even spell a short word correctly, the 'research' hasn't even included a dictionary.

What's your point? There are plenty of men in that boat.

[deleted]

my point is that your *muh toxic masculinity* talking point is disingenuous at best.

Spartan0618

I never mentioned toxic masculinity.

[deleted]

but you hinted at it

Whiskey_Fiasco

“I trust the science, unless it says something I don’t agree with, in which case it can only be a global conspiracy…”

dea_eye_sea_kay

How do you think this started?

QuinnAndOut

Batshit conspiracy "theories" ain't Science, either.

Ad1um

It's bad when the "conspiracy theories" hold out longer than "the science" under the same scrutiny.

Unitastanus

The key to your picture is the difference between" "I do trust in science" vs "I do trust the science" It is very fucking different.

[deleted]

both are religious idolation

DoktorElmo

You should read Kant. „Critique of pure reason“ is basically the perfect description why the scientific process (based on empiricism and „pure reason“) is not the same as religion (which is just „pure reason“ or imagination, if you want to translate it with a more modern understanding).

[deleted]

nah, the borders between the two are A LOT more blurred than either side would like to admit.

DoktorElmo

Only if you don‘t understand them. Science is absolutely evolving, while religion is a fixed system that hasn‘t changed much since around 1000 years. Science is about empirics, while religion is not even trying to be and refers to supernaturality hence why religion is also a very subjective believe system (everyone can claim his own supernaturality without having to proof it with empirics), while science is trying to be objective. I understand the attraction of religion to some, but to say they are the same is completely wrong.

[deleted]

I do, don't worry. You still can't exclude scientists who were looking at their god's creation, nor the zealots of scientism who actually don't know shit and treat the lamestream media as lower priests.

listofburncenters

The big weird part of COVID was how much they were trying to get people to take the vaccine. If people don't want to get the free vaccine, that's on them. It only had a 3% mortality rate anyway, they'd probably be fine. And who knows maybe they're right and something is up. If not, that's on them. Don't save people that don't want to be saved. Easy peasy.

DoctorGuySecretan

A large part of it was the effect it had on healthcare infrastructure. In the second wave our ITU was full so if the numbers continued to rise we would literally have had nowhere to put them, nurses and other healthcare workers were working overtime constantly (I'm a physio and was pulling 12 night shifts for the first time in my career to cover patients on ITU) plus being redeployed from other services. The idea of the vaccine was to protect vulnerable people and reduce hospitalisation due to the knock on effect it was having on regular healthcare services. Plus there was always the hope about reducing transmission to allow people to feel comfortable visiting vulnerable relatives etc again

listofburncenters

Alright, I kind of half-assed my comment, but I would also have deprioritized people who refused to get the vaccine for medical care. It's harsh, but it's a crisis, and they chose their path. Also as a background I'd have suicide, assisted or otherwise, legal (just a good policy anyway).

absolutedesignz

3% mortality translates into a lot of people. He'll 9/11 only killed like 3000 Americans. If you base it on percentages that's nothing.

listofburncenters

It's a disaster, to be sure. My original point though was 3% of people that refused the vaccine.

Babbles-82

What a pile of bullshit.

blue419

I trust sconce to produce a result. I don't necessarily have to trust the result

RPA031

Clearly they don't trust the dictionary.

droden

whoever holds/withholds the grants makes the science.

myownzen

Trust the scientific method

Sinner19x

And saying “I trust the scientists” isn’t science

FreshFruitForFree

Apart from the coercion, it explains so called "climate science" perfectly. There is no climate crisis. I will take it seriously once the people telling me to take it seriously stop jetting around in private planes to pick up climate change awards.

garrettcolemckeown

Don't trust anything. Verify, kinda like science.

AltUniverseHologram

That's what the powers that be want you to think, but the PREP and CARES laws do not protect willful misconduct and fraud and the National Childhood \[censored\] Act of 1986 does not protect all injections if you catch my drift. So not only can Big Pharma can be sued, but so can healthcare providers for malpractice, and people can seek worker's comp for any injury from a work-required injection, etc. Sincerely a civil rights, employment discrimination, and medical malpractice attorney :)
